We bought this for our 7 year old granddaughter. She is a good reader and very smart but does not really like to sit and read whole stories. This beautifully illustrated book is just right--find a subject and turn to that page and all kinds of interesting facts are there to read and talk about. We learn something every time we read from the book.

It's a disappointment. The books looks nice and is very colourful, but the 5,000 facts, are not serious facts. We thought they would concerns real life facts with regards to animals, the earth, the weather, amazing things people did, but no, they mention loads of pretty pointless facts. We sat with our kids to look at it, and then never reopened it.

Lots of little facts without much discussion. I got this for a non-reading child so I would like some actual paragraphs. There isn't much like that here. But my son really likes just the facts so from his perspective, this is a great book.

This was a great book! My 10 year old grandson was happy to get it and announced he would be reading it on his trip home as did all his older sisters. A nice diversion from all the electronics. I am buying another for my 8 year old grandson.

My DD LOVES books of facts and trivia. She totally got that from her dad and not me. She memorizes the craziest stuff! When I was looking for a "something to read" gift for her for Christmas, I knew she would LOVE this big book of awesome facts. I was right! She has looked at this book every day for more than a month. This book is big, sturdy, and packed with fun facts. Because it is from National Geographic Kids, it is full of bright, vibrant pictures. This is a great book and it was a perfect gift.

This was a gift for my 6 year old daughter. She has a million questions about everything, so we thought this would be a great gift for her. On Christmas morning, my husband and I were the ones who sat reading this great book!! Vivid pictures, fascinating facts- sure to make your curious one stay riveted!! Great purchase!!

My 9 year old son really liked this book when we got it a couple of years ago. He was excited to tell me about the facts he learned about different things. There isn't much information about the subjects, just interesting facts. My son had some questions about some things, but I just told him to look it up, or get a book at the library if he wanted to learn more. It's a cool book, but if you want something more informative, I would recommend finding something else.

Started reading this to a 4 year old at bedtime, the easier of the topics. After the first reading every time she saw someone with a piece of chocolate she'd say, "did you know white chocolate isn't really chocolate?" Of course they'd look at her like "WHAT?" She'd follow up by saying "White chocolate only has coco butter in it, real chocolate has coco powder in it too." She's nailed them all with her "amazing facts" and it makes her "feel" smart, which is a good thing. Love the book!!!

My 11yr old son is into science, nature, etc. He loves to tell us all these interesting facts. Be ready to hear "did you know...." Over and over. His science teacher told me that my son is a wealth of information.

This book is large but well made with nice pictures with multiple facts in different places on the pages. Even my husband and I have picked it up to read some pages our selves.

This book is huge! And very well made. It's a good thing because my daughter has read it over and over so many times. She's learned a great deal of interesting facts. The whole family has benefitted from the knowledge she's gleaned from these pages. Great pictures, age appropriate, and altogether interesting, this book makes for a wonderful gift. I'd even recommend it as a coffee table book. It's that interesting!

The “Fact” is that my grandson loves this book. I purchased it for him when he was on vacation as I thought it would be a good way to learn some facts he could provide to his grandparents as well as keep him occupied while on the plane. He told us last night he really enjoyed it. He is 8 years old and told us many facts from the book.
The book itself is durable and a great book to keep. The book will be great to share with friends and family as well as we can use as a game tool for trivia!

Purchased this for my niece who was visiting for two weeks. This kept her very occupied, she read from this and others in the series for hours, the entire family say around and did the quiz questions they had in the book. Many of us actually learned from the quizzes as well. This was a great learning interaction book. Buying the entire series for Christmas and birthday for her.

It's somewhat of a large book with very colorful pages, beautiful illustrations, and interesting factoids regarding various subjects. When It came in the mail, it was so interesting that I sat on the couch and got lost in it for at least 45 mins. I'm an adult, but I have no doubt that kids would love this book too--since it is, after all, intended for kids.

I ordered this book (and many others) for my 12 year old son. He is always asking questions about why things are the way they are, how things are done, and how to do things. He loves reading books like this, so if he shows interest, I get the books he wants. It's hard to get kids to read, so I am grateful for books that kids can learn from.

Reading should be fun and this book is a fun read-together book. My eight-year old and I take turns reading several facts each night in our version of a Casey Kasem voice-over voice. The pictures are stunning and the facts incredible (If you don't believe what you`ve read, you can easily google it up. I trust National Geographic but I google intriguing facts up anyway to find out more). Great for getting to know difficult words like `science` , `sky`, names of countries like `Vietnam` and how to read the huge numbers that continuously pop up. Thanks for the metric conversions.
