Really enjoyed this book by Sara Rosett. Wasn't at all what I was expecting. Kept my interest and read it in one day. Tried to guess what was going to be the ending. Each time there was a little twist, I'd rethink my answer. After all that, was still wrong.

Enjoyed the premise, the characters and would definitely recommend it to others. Will be reading more of her books.

Strange to call a murder mystery enchanting, but her attention to believable details is wonderful. But them I love english songs novels so that helps! Less cozy, more heartwarming is my slant on it.

Enjoyable read that hooked me from the start! Definitely difficult to put down and the twists were interesting! I have never even thought about being a location scout so it was fun to learn about a new profession. The descriptions of the English countryside were wonderful and have increased my desire to return and see more of them! I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

This was an enjoyable mystery. There were characters with enough depth that I could relate to. I suppose because there was no proliferation of cursing, violence, or sex, you would call it a cozy. I like that I caught on to some of the plot clues but there were still surprises. I like that balance. And I really liked the English countryside and houses descriptions. Now I have the urge to read Jane Austin.

I screwed up and read the second book first, finishing it this morning. Then, I had to find this one in my library. A few hours, and now I get to tell the world how close to real life the author is able to describe the inhabitants and life in Great Britain's countryside. She got it! Exactly!

Can't wait to read the rest of the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It moved quickly and I found the characters enjoyable. I lived for a year in a small English village and the book took me back to that charming village. The book did not have the amount of drama or suspense as I had anticipated, but since it moved quickly and I enjoyed the characters, I was not disappointed.

The story is quite believable and devilishly gets you suspecting nearly everybody before the denouement. You know the story has grabbed you when you find yourself telling the heroine, "Why don't you just get on a plane and get out of there and forget about whodunnit!" The writer also does an admirable job of making you care about the murder victim, something she could easily have neglected. Having taken the care to do that, she involves you that much more in the psycho-emotional world of the story. Great job.

Death in the English Countryside not only introduces the reader to two new characters, Kate and Alex, but brought me back to two of my favorite things. Jane Austen and the English Countryside. This book has mystery, murder, and a little romance. Following Kate as she tries to work through what has happened to her boss will keep you up at night wanting to find out what happens next.

This is a good cozy/travelogue/murder mystery and it's fun for light reading. There is no sex, no graphic violence or bad language. I don't like Kate because she's too pushy, but she is a good fit for the story.

An Agatha Christie style mystery set in a picturesque English village, and starring a young American woman whose missing boss had been scouting locations for a new film version of Pride and Prejudice. Interesting characters, good story and a surprise ending. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

I enjoyed every aspect of this book. The characters were great. I hope to get to know them better in the next book. I love stories set in the English countryside and this book did not disappoint. The descriptions were well written. I could picture every setting.

Loved this book. As with all the Sara Rosett books, this book involves travel. There is suspense, a hint of romance and the story kept me guessing. Kate Sharp is given the task of finding her boss in rural England where he was searching out locations for a movie. Of course, it turns into a murder mystery which Kate winds up unraveling. I hope there are more Kate Sharp books coming soon.

Its hard to find books populated with characters that I'd like to spend time with. This was an exception. I enjoyed the mystery and the characters were people who I liked. It's a fast read, well written and a fun afternoon getaway.

I like England and its countryside. I like Jane Austen. The story combined two things I like and added information about location scouting that was interesting. The mystery is well done meaning I didn't know who to committed the crime until near the end. I wasn't sure at first about Kate Sharp but in the end I like her character.

This is an unusual premise for a mystery series and was well thought out and not too easily figured out before reading more than half.
I especially like the maybe romance beginnings and the fact there was no gratuitous sex or violence..
The next in the series is highly anticipated!

Loved this book! The main character is neither superwoman nor wimp, brilliant nor silly--she's responsible and likable. It's an engaging mystery that doesn't bog down with so many characters the reader can't keep track. Lovely descriptions of the English countryside didn't take over and slow down the plot. I'm buying book 2 in the series, and hoping for a long run for Kate Sharp.

I enjoyed this well-written mystery--and how refreshing that it wasn't loaded with foul language and sex! Sara Rosett proves that a good story can hold your attention without all the offensive language. I also loved the English location--felt like I was there again. Thank you, Sara!

I purchased this book because the Hollywood location scout premise sounded interesting. The book was terrific and I finished it in less than 24 hours. Well written, humorous without being silly, very engaging. I'm planning on purchasing the next two books in the series.

This book never got me hooked. I kept thinking it would get more interesting as the premise of a “location” series sounded interesting, but the characters were poorly developed and quite frankly by the end, I didn’t care who had committed the murder.

What a wonderful surprise. This is a superbly written mystery. Strongly written, well developed characters. Feels Ike you're standing right there in the middle of an English village. Moving on to read installment 2 and absolutely cannot wait to get started.

Austen scholar, location scout, detective inspector, English countryside, clean romance, a feisty senior, great house, cottages, pubs. Oh, yes, and there is a murder mystery. Also dogs. This fun modern cozy hit all my keywords. Absolutely a keeper.

The highlights of this book are the "feel like you're there" descriptions of the English countryside, and the many references to Austen' s Pride and Prejudice. The author's research for the book is very evident. For these reasons I gave the book 4 stars. On the downside the identity of the murderer was easy to guess.

Her boss is missing - in England. Thinking he's just MIA, Kate goes to try to find him. That ends in tragedy but she finds a charming English village that has some dark secrets and Alex. Certainly potential for further adventures in this series.

This sleepy English village with its sharp contrast to smoky LA is the perfect backdrop to allow Kevin to disappear. Our reluctant sleuths and stolid villagers lead the reader to a predictable solution.
Never the less an enjoyable journey...

I enjoyed this book very much! It had an interest story and characters. I also enjoyed the information regarding location hunting. I did not know it was so involved! My only complaint is the use of the word "unbelief". I would have used "disbelief" myself, but...Highly recommended!
