Catfish Cove sounds like a nice place to live. And I did like the basic story. Aunt's cafe burns down so her niece comes back to help her rebuild the business at the same time try to mend fences with the people she hurt when she up and left two years before without a word.

While I did like the story I felt like I have no clue who the main character is. In fact I had to go back to find out her name. The other characters I can name and even describe their personalities. Not Annie Fisher, name I had to look up. A very non descript main character. She has red hair and carries her camera everywhere.
And people were getting into her apartment and she never seemed that upset or got better locks. It's like she just thought that was par for the course.

I hope the next book will give me a better idea of Annie and have a little better mysteries. I had the first one solved in the first chapter. The murder took till all the players checked in.

Still a fun read and I on to the next book

I really enjoyed this first in a new series. The author developed her characters in such a way that I can see them still in my mind. The plot was consistent without any off-the-wall mess that mars other books. I won't go into details about the story line, except to say that my hips and toosh are happy that only one recipe was included. My mind and tummy are not. After all, who could resist Chubby Chickpea Salad!! Kudos to the beginning of a great new series. Eagerly awaiting the next one.

I may never eat blueberry muffins again, because of the title though lol.

I loved Ms Cole's story. But the story just came to an end, without really telling us the outcome of some of the characters, after the bad guys were caught, so hopefully the story continues in the next book.

Read this book if you enjoy a nice time, with a good book.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and learning about the characters in Lyndsey Cole's Black Cat Cafe books.
When Annie returns to her childhood home, she is followed by her ex-boyfriend and his dangerous associates.
When Max winds up dead, Annie feels it is her duty to find his killer.
This book is a cute, quick read I would recommend.

Daughter comes home after fleeing when her mom finally admit she was adopted. Her ex follows bringing all the drama he was trying to protect her from and the murder begins. Which of the new people in town are bad and which are innocent? I love the twists and turns in the plot. A great read.

Loved the book. The characters were fun and interesting. There was not too much dialog. The plot was fun and moved along nicely. I would recommend this book to all those who like cozies. Personally, I WOULD like just a little more romance between ANNIE and JAson.

Annie runs away from one messy situation and headlong into even more lethal problems. The ladies of this story are fun, intelligent, women with a knack for figuring things out and solving the
problems they encounter. Enjoyable read!

I forced myself to finish one of these , but cannot see it happening with a second. The singularly most unlikeable character I have ever read. Lie to the cops? Random drama from nowhere to nowhere? Sure , whatever, this center of the universe wants in a given nanosecond . Insult to injury , the writing is horrific.

I really enjoyed this book. It is a cozy, and has animals :) Its about a quaint town called Catfish Cove NH and a woman named Annie. Annie is coming home from Cooper NY and leaving a boyfriend, or so she thinks.
What ensues is a mess of knotted yarn and trying to find the right end! Who can Annie trust!

A good light read that you can tuck yourself away with if you don't want anything too exhausting. Okay there might be some errors but I have read far worse. Running home when you are scared is normal but being followed is not. A dead body, family conflict, lies and betrayal dog her steps. Will she fond out who the killer is before it's too late. A nice, don't think too hard cozy.

I actually found the Christmas Black Cat Cozy Mystery and thought I should read the first in the series before reading that one. I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed this book, the perfect cozy mystery with a little romance tossed in and I would anticipate more to come. There are a lot of muffin...cookie....mysteries out there and I have read several, but none were as well written as this book. I'll be reading the rest of the series.....

It kept me interested and wanting to read more of the series. The only thing that bothered me was that they seem to always cool their chili at the restaurant outside of the refrig, which I think is a no-no. Anyway, she says something like "then I put the cooled chili in the refrig". Maybe, I'm missing something.
Otherwise, it was a good story and I want to find out what happens.

I found Annie to be intelligent and one tough cookie who refused to be bullied by any man including her father, who for lack of a better description is a major cranky pants monster. She clearly loves with all her heart and stands up for herself and those she cares for. The ending sort of slapped me in the face in a good way because I never saw that twist coming!

Actual Rating 3.5 stars

Predictable, and I figured out the *who dunnit* pretty early on, didn't understand the dynamics between mother and father but his mean personality doesn't help support his "caring" and spying on the daughter...overall though a nice cozy mystery.

A very quick read, lots of "doings" with arrival back to her home town. Love the murder mystery, and rescue dogs and cats and the locale seems charming. Recipe for blueberry muffins is a bonus by would have liked the chickpea salad recipe more. On to the next book

Reminds me of Hallmark Murders and Mysteries. Not violent (except for someone got murdered), no bad language, sweet little ladies going about their daily business and solving a murder! I have the next in series ready for when I need a break from reading mayhem!
