I teach children ages 11-16. Some are special education students and others are gifted. I wanted a life science curriculum that would be highly motivational, easy to understand and would teach the real names and concepts. I, myself, do not have a strong scienc background. i knew I would be learning along with my students. Truth is, I purchased three anatomy coloring books, but only this one did the trick. It appeals to the kids, has clearer drawings and more simplified text with catchy sub-headings than the other texts I tried. It is also geared for real learning and introduces concepts as well as vocabulary about human anatomy. I highly recommend this text for beginners. It can be used as independent work or even, just-for-fun, free-time work in the classroom or at home.

for someone who actually took a college level anatomy course this book does not even give complete diagrams for some of the pictures. The chapter headings were not useful. The female and male reproductive systems were poorly drawn and did not include much detail at all. Overall this book did not include much detail. For someone serious about learning anatomy this book is not the way to go.
Gray's Anatomy: Classic Illustrated Edition :: A New Perspective on Object Oriented Design - 2nd Edition (Software Patterns) :: When We Meet Again :: A funny interactive activity book that gets reluctant readers reading :: Anatomy, Descriptive and Surgical, 1901 Edition

Pros:
Well organized
Written in age appropriate language
Cons:
No istructions on the coloring portion. I don't want my kids to think that they can color brain green for example.
This one I am really angry about: In the reproductive systems portion of the book, all male parts are labeled, but in the female one vaginal canal is not labeled. Since when is penis an age appropriate word, but vagina is not?!

This book help me to understand anatomy and physiology like I was a three year old and learning like it was easy as drinking water. It Is a very good book to have as a reference in the future. It also help me to get back into the swing of things since I spent the last 6 years in the Army doing a job that had nothing to do with my Degree field which is sports medicine.

I did not realize the treasure we possessed in this book. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to step outside of the box on the usual information given about the human body; this is definitely different in a great way! I would say a 5th grader through high school would appreciate this book.
