Totally charming but not too goody-goody. A great choice for any kid with a naughty side (i.e., all of them). Beth Bacon creates a compelling conspiracy between the book and the reader. By "pretending" to read this book, the reader actually, um, reads the book! Great design too. Clever enough for the bookworms and fun enough for the kids who "don't really like reading." Perfect Christmas gift for the elementary school kids in your life. Highly recommended.

The use of irony is masterfully used by author Beth Bacon in this book. A great way to connect with those kids who aren't motivated on their own to read, this book subtly tricks the reader into turning pages and making secrete deals to "avoid reading". In a world where the internet can dominate someone's attention, this quirky and personal book will help a struggling reader learn to love to read.

As an adult, I thought this book was really clever and all designed. Then I shared it with my granddaughter, age 8, who loves to read BTW, and she couldn't put it down, had to read the who thing aloud to me. She said,"Is this book reading my mind?" She can't wait to take it to school to share.

I volunteer as a reading tutor for elementary school students that are struggling with reading and this captures the sentiments I often hear. Sometimes a student just needs to hear that they're not alone! However, this is a book students of all reading levels (and attitudes) would enjoy. This would make a wonderful gift for a young student.

A fun, interactive and cheery way to get the most reluctant reader hooked from page one until s/he is done! Bold graphics, chatty text and some very silly puns keep readers of all ages and sizes engaged.

An engaging, humorous, and colorful book that works (and plays) on so many levels. The cover graphic warns the reader to stop, but once they turn that first page they won't be able to resist reading, moving, and laughing until the very end! Highly recommended.
