She has decided to become a mail order bride and leaves the next day with all her belongings. Jack Colton ones a successful gold mine and is looking for a wife to give him a family and companionship. His wife and children were killed and he cannot love again, so lthat is out of the question, which he states. When the killer comes after her love comers to the surface. Another gteat book by Ms. Woolf. I have never been disappointed by any of her books. Good character development and story.

An entertaining read, The Dancing Bride has romance, adventure and a bit of mayhem. I enjoyed the fact that Rita wasn't a missish young lady, but could stand up for herself and speak her mind. I also enjoyed Jack's response to her. He probably thought he was getting another bride like his quiet late wife, but Rita was everything that Beth was not. Rita's vivaciousness and direct approach wins not only Jack's admiration, but that of his friends as well, and there is not one among them who isn't willing to protect her from the killer stalking her. The love story is sweet and there is enough suspense to keep the reader on tender hooks, trusting that Rita manages to stay alive. A most enjoyable read. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my voluntary and honest review.

What a wonderful mail-order bride book! "I received a free copy of the book but all opinions are my own." I started this book and could not put it down. Rita is the main female character. She is a feisty lady with a lot of spunk and spirit. She sees a murder and has to leave her home in New York to avoid being killed so she won't testify against the murderer. She decides that the best way to do this is to become a mail-order bride. She heads out West and marries a wealthy miner named Jack. Things work out for a while, but eventually the killer finds out where Rita is and comes after her. Life takes on a whole new turn when Rita has to tell Jack that someone is trying to kill her. What happens when he finds her and what her husband does is something you have to read for yourself! Thanks Cynthia Woolf for an exciting read. I look forward to more in this series!

Cynthia Woolf has again written a great book to start a new series of the Central City brides. This is book one which tells how an ex-captain of the Union army begins to live again after the war is over. Jack Colten is the owner of a mine in Central City. He has sent off for a mail order bride. He lucks out when the agency sends a dancer named Rita. She goes the mail order route from New York to the west because she has to get out of town fast due to have witnessed a murder and now the killer is after her. She arrives, meets Jake, falls in love with her new husband and become close to his friends. But Jack has some secrets. Can he love her and keep her safe? The story is a fast action packed love adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed it and cannot wait to see how Jack's friends do with their mail order brides. I was given this novel to read for a honest review.

“The Dancing Bride,” is the first novel in Cynthia Woolf’s new Central City Bride series that takes place in Central City, Colorado in the late 1800’s. Rita Mae Baxter is a dancer in one of the shows in New York City, and when she steps outside the theater for a break she witnesses a crime that terrifies her. The police suggest that she leaves the city, so she applies to be a mail order bride. Jack Cotton has made a name for himself in Central City, Colorado and the only that seems to be lacking in his life is someone to share it with. When Rita arrives at her destination she is taken by the site of the handsome mine owner and for the first time in a long time, she allows herself to feel a cocoon of safety envelop her. Rita and Jack each harbor secrets that may put their love in jeopardy and they must determine what is truly important to their happiness. I was given an advanced copy of this book, and all of the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

What an awesome book! We've got Danger, intrigue, attraction, faithful friends, and let's not forget, love. Rita loves to dance, but her dreams of becoming a ballerina are dashed when her mother dies.
Now, she finds herself in danger and must flee to safety. Jack lost his wife and children during the war, but wants a family to share his new found wealth with. Jack vows never to love again. Rita wants a real marriage, including love. Can Jack save her from the danger following her and can he open his heart to love again? Will Rita get her Happy Ever After? Another great book by Cynthia Woolf.

The beginning was a little more detailed for my taste in romantic scenes, but that got better as the story went on. (Not as much description). While I was given this book for free, only asking to leave a review, I do so gladly of my own opinions. The story was never boring or dull. The family that came together in Colorado is something I think we all hope for. No blood relations but those in that family have your back n then some! Great characters, varied backgrounds, loyal n loving, even if it takes some longer to acknowledge or understand what love feels like. I can't wait to read the next story, possibly Lucky's, Henry's or Robert's.

What a wonderful book in this new series. Mail order brides fascinate me. Why would a man want a mail order bride and why would a woman agree to be one? The reason was clear in this story. Both Jack and Rita are running, Jack from his past and Rita from her future.
It was fun watching their relationship development after the marriage. They both had secrets and it wasn't until both of them shared with each other that the relationship grew.
Ms. Woolf coninutes to write with ease and charm. I am hoping the future books in the series find "the boys" each getting their own bride.

A cute historical romance, easy read - great for a journey or holiday read.
Rita and Jack are sweet characters, full of personality.........and secrets!
Unfortunately for Rita her secrets catch up with her, can Jack keep her safe or does she need to run again?
There is no huge twist or major gripping drama, but is a lovely read for when you have a couple of hours and just need to escape.

This is a wonderful beginning to a new historical mail order brides series with captivating characters, mystery, danger, action, adventure, and heartwarming romance. I really liked the instant attraction and tender romance between Rita Baxter who comes to Central City, Colorado Territory as bride for Jackson Colton. Historical western romance fans will love The Dancing Bride. Ms. Woolf never disappoints and I look forward to more Central City Brides. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Loved all the new people and the new location for the Central City Brides series. Rita is not at all timid and speaks her mind without hesitation. She is strong and willing to do what ever it takes to survive the old west and the killer that is trying to find her. Jack can be thoughtful and humorous, even though he has severe guilt issues over the death of his first wife and children. Together, they make an extraordinary couple and find out that they can be even stronger together.

After Rita witnesses a murder, she decides it is time that she became a mail order bride. Jack is very happy with his new bride. The problem is, she hasn't told him that someone may come looking for her. Once Rita was away from New York, she knew that no one would come all the way to Colorado to hunt her down. She was wrong. Now Jack and his friends are ready to hunt the guy down and put an end to him. He will do anything to keep Rita with him.

Rita has always been encouraged to follow her dreams however her plans go off track with tragedy and witness of a murder. She needs to leave town and becomes the mail order bride for Jack in Colorado territory. The pathway to love for these two is strewn with danger as they find their way.
Enjoyable characters and good setting to emerge the reader in the tale.

Rita is a dancer who while performing witnesses a murder. This inspires her to follow an earlier idea of becoming a mail-order bride to escape to a safer place to live. Jake is a jaded mine owner who is unwilling to love again. I enjoyed this story by Cynthia Woolf and look forward to reading the rest of the series. Ms. Woolf creates characters whom you enjoy reading about, my only complaint is that the book ended!

I always enjoy books by this author, this one fell a little short. The villain had been insistent that he would take care of the heroine being a “loose end”. When he left town, all “the boys “ thought he had left for good and precaution was stopped. This leads to an ambush. I think this part of the story felt wrong. The overall story kept my interest, and I had to kept reading till the end.

"The Dancing Bride" starts in a chorus line in New York City, 1869. Witnessing a gang murder, Rita Baxter quickly registers as a mail order bride and flees the city to the Colorado Territory where she marries Jackson Colton, a rancher. Although the marriage occurred quickly, learning to be a wife in Colorado takes awhile longer - except in bed where she catches on quickly. As always, there is a catch. In this case, it's the gang leader tracking down the murder witness, and Rita has not told Jack what led her to Colorado. The rest of the book continues the story of Rita learning to live in the West, and how the couple handles life when the gang's henchman comes looking. It is an easy, well written read, that tells a very enjoyable tale that you can't help but enjoy. And, since this is book #1, I can eagerly anticipate #2. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book.

This is my new favorite Cynthia Woolf book. This book has two strong lead characters that are perfect for this time period. Along with a well developed romance this book has a murder, a New York Hitman, and a past that won't let go. I didn't feel like this book was rushed but well developed. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a quick fun read.

This was yet another sweet read in Woolf's western world. I have to say I enjoyed the story as well as the characters. I am looking forward to learning more about the secondary characters in future installments. I would have liked for there to have been a bit more time focused on Jack and his past. Overall I am excited that this is the beginning of a new series and I look forward to seeing what happens next!

I enjoy the books that C Woolf writes. She creates strong female characters that survive the hardships of the old west. I hate to put the book down cause there is always another twist. A great story without all the 'steam'. I really enjoyed the plot, which although predictable, had enough twists to be interesting. The writing is a bit stilted and choppy but readable. I look forward to the rest of the series.

Cynthia’s books are always wonderfully written, flow beautifully and her characters are always well developed and not one dimensional. She writes clean Western Romances with engaging storylines that keep the reader interested and she even includes an epilogue which I love about her writing. I don’t like to give away the plot so I will just say that Jackson was dealing with issues that needed to be resolved and Rita was running from a past situation that added suspense and drama to their story. How their relationship developed and their issues were resolved made for a really good read.
If you enjoy your romance with a bit of suspense this is the book for you. You will love it as I did.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my review. It was a pleasure to give my honest opinion about the book.

Another great read! I love the fact that this was a stand alone book ?! Don't get me wrong, I'm reading several series right now. It's just nice to be able to read and finish a story! The characters of Jack & Rita are wonderful. I like that Rita learns to not only enjoy, but to love and trust Jack as well. Plenty of excitement too!

Jack decided to go with a mail order bride, he thought he would know more about her getting someone who would be meek like his late wife. He didn’t quite get that, I loved how the author played this out and the way Jack came to understand what he thought he wanted wasn’t it at all.
As with all of Ms. Woolf’s work this is well written with wonderful characters you have no trouble relating to. I was so invested I read this at one setting I just couldn’t put it down. I love how the story builds from the character development to the romance. I enjoyed the adventure, danger and suspense. The details the author gives are so vivid I could picture the scenes as they unfold. I totally was invested and enjoyed this story.
