There wasn't enough build-up of the connection between the characters for me. Nothing to keep excited about how it would turn out for them. The writing was very repetitive about the effect of Marie's past on her life and in her worry for Austin. Not a terrible read, But Not a great one either.

Marie & Jeremy’s story is very heartfelt. I am hooked on their drama and Austin is just adorable. The background story on Jeremy’s family is very interesting. This installment is hard to put down. I can’t wait for part 2!! [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]

Wow! Talk about a deep emotional read. This book is full of it. Marie and her 5 year old move back to her home town after leaving her ex and his stalker tendencies. She meets Jeremy, her high school crush, when she takes a job at a salon. They have a magnetic connection pulling them together. I felt like this book was very well written. It sucked me in and made me feel the pain and anguish Marie and her son felt. Great read. I cant wait for the next book.

Excellent start to the trilogy. Marie is a single mom of a 5 year old. She is on the run from her abusive ex and heads back home. Jeremy is there when she gets back into town. He is from her past. Someone she wishes to get to know better. Jeremy feels the pull of attraction toward Marie. Things are going great for the two of them, when suddenly she has a change of heart. Can't wait to read book 2 and see where this story goes.

This is the start of a great series about finding happiness and moving forward. Marie, a single mother with a crazy ex. Wesley is a real piece of crap. She meets Jeremy and their chemistry is sizzling hot. You get the backstory of both Marie and Jeremy. Austin, Marie's son is a great little boy with a lot on his shoulders. This does end on a cliff hanger, looking forward to book 2. ?

Marie and Jeremy’s story is stretched out into 3 books, from what I understand. This first book does a great job of laying out their histories and what’s currently going on in each of their lives. The romance is steamy, and the plot is very interesting. I’m anxious to start reading book #2. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

Definitely this book will keep your attention. Stars slowly with introducing main characters but keep you guessing.
Great start for romance..but is always this little question behind. What is happening, what’s next.
I’m so ready for next book

Jeremy and Marie live in a small town where secrets don't stay buried. An intense ride with all the emotion between these two kept me up reading for hours. Ends on a cliffhanger and book 2 is already out so you don't have to wait long.

Ok. I am hooked!  This latest release from JH Croix and Ali Parker is a serial. I am not sure how many books but at least 3 that I know of.  Book 1 was a great intro to Jeremy and Marie.  I am certainly hanging on to my seat to see where this connection of theirs is going to go and if either of their pasts are going to overrun them. Interesting and intriguing!  Oh and Austin??  LOVE HIM!! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

This book ends with a cliffhanger but book two is already available and is my next read.

This is the start to what I personally think is going to be a fantastic series. The writing style achieved by these two great authors working together (both of whom are amongst my personal favourite authors) is so very, very good. I don't normally like to read stories which end with a cliffhanger and if I do I normally mark down my reviews for that reason - not in this case. This book is excellent and truly deserves the five stars I have given it.

The storyline is engrossing and compulsive, the characters definition is excellent and the chemistry and growing attraction between Jeremy and Marie is really well done. This series is definitely one not to miss

First I absolutely love both of these authors! Second they produced one hell of a beginning for this series! Though I can not stand CH, I was mildly appeased being that I was able to read the second book (also awesome) which also ended in a CH.
Marie and Jeremy are so amazing, individually and together. Though life had handed them each burdens, they’re able to see light in each other. All the secondary characters are great too, rounding out a well written and well paced book.
I received this book for a voluntary, completely honest and non incentivized review.

Marie returned home with her son to avoid her abusive ex-boyfriend. She met Jeremy who lights up her life, and seems to like her son, Austin. The book ends with Wesley, the ex, has made himself known to both Marie and Jeremy.
I enjoyed the story so far. But I don't like cliff hangers. Normally rate them lower and never order the Author again. Ms Croix is one of my favorite Authors but I will be reading the review more closely.

Jeremy’s family went through a scandal involving his father years ago, but has moved on. Marie has come back to her hometown with her young son to start over after getting away from her nasty ex. Working in a hair salon she sees Jeremy for the first time in years and their is an instant attraction. They end up giving into their passion and have something special until Marie's ex comes to town! Will Jeremy walk away?
This is a great book that I would definitely recommend!

Although I avoid cliffhangers, I was curious to see what this pairing would bring. Jeremy was a football player who suffered from a career ending injury, lost his mother and saw his father fall from grace and be incarcerated. He decided he did not want a family and engaged in short affairs. Marie is trying to escape an abusive ex with her son by returning to her hometown. When Jeremy Nd Matie’s Paths cross, the attraction is instant and the two are drawn together. Things are going great, until....

I love this series!!!!! Marie’s story coming from an abused relationship and having a little boy is tough enough but to try and break free and start over is even tougher. It last almost comparable to the life of Jermey who’s dad was a crooked offical and him and his brothers have to start over loosing all of their family money and name. It was nice to see they turned to each other and started to fall in love. It was a great storyline with a cliffhanger. Must read you won’t be disappointed.

This is the beginning of a trilogy featuring Marie and her son, Austin, her ex-boyfriend, Wesley, and her new love interest, Jeremy Lovett. The story is very well written with intense parts between Marie and Wesley; particulars about Jeremy’s father and brothers, the small town they all grew up in and a host of interesting secondary characters. The chemistry between Marie and Jeremy is delicious. Wonderful start to this trilogy. I received an ARC and provided an honest review.

This intriguing book is jam-packed with angst, danger, drama and suspense literally keeping your undivided attention to the very end. This well-paced, first-in-series story ends on the dreaded cliffhanger, but do not fear, number two is here. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

Don't start reading this book unless you have lots of time. Don't start reading at bedtime or you are going to get little sleep. Jeremy and Marie story will keep you up all night, you will not want to put it down. Loved it. Unfortunately it ends in a cliffhanger and you will want more, or at least I want more. Good news it is a quick read.

Although I made a purchase, I am also reviewing this as an ARC reader.
Awesome wild chemistry between the characters who have a lot to fight for. If you like an alpha bad boy and a single mum in a small town where everyone knows everything and gossip is one of the scarriest things, then you are gonna love it. I highly recommend it!

Really Really great story!
I just finished reading books 1 and 2. I am dying to get my hands on book 3.
It’s emotional, frustrating, sweet and the sexy scenes make your toes curl!
Marie just wants her son to be happy and loved. But with an abusive, stalking ex constantly causing her trouble that’s not gonna happen. She decides to leave Savannah and start over in her home town. She didn’t expect to fall into the arms of her high school crush Jeremy.
He’s everything she has ever dreamed of. She finally feels happy loved and protected. But how long will it last?
Jeremy is just going through the motions of every day life after the loss of his mother and the imprisonment of his father. He doesn’t believe in happily ever after and wasn’t looking for an instant family. But Marie and her sweet young son Austin changed all that.
When Marie’s ex shows and wants custody of their son. Jeremy will do whatever he has to do to save Marie and Austin. But is he too late when Marie is ordered to return to Savannah with Austin? How can he protect her and Austin when they’re so far away?
I can’t wait to see what happens!

Jeremy is a small town boy from Cypress Creek who works for a local construction contractor. Marie is a single mom who moves back to Cypress Creek to escape an ex with a history of abuse and stalking. When the two meet, sparks fly and the attraction is sizzling. Soon they go from being strangers to being something much more special. However when a ghost from Marie’s past comes back to wreak havoc on her new found happiness and threatens everything she holds dear, Marie makes a choice that could prove heartwrenching for everyone. Jeremy has other plans and sets out to make sure that Marie and her son are safe and protected mo matter the cost. Follow Jeremy and Marie through their danger filled story of finding love when they least expect it, and discovering what is most important in life. This was a cute story of lust that quickly turns to love. Filled with plot twists that will keep readers intrigued from beginning to end. This first book of the series ended on a cliffhanger, but I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

Down and Dirty #1: A Bad Boy Romantic Suspense (Shameless Southern Nights)

The authors prepare their readers very well by laying the groundwork stories and character insights in the first couple of chapters. We find out about the main female character and what her life is like and the challenges she has had to face. We are introduced to the main male character and in turn find out what life challenges he faces. Solid writing by the authors to draw their readers in. A number of elements came into play in book one of this series: drama, mystery, romance and heart ache. The authors have done a great job in bringing forth the electrifying chemistry that exists between the two main characters. Off to check out book two in this series to see what more is going on.... :)
