I enjoyed this book, the way the story unfolded, the depth of explained emotions and the well developed characters. It is a believable, realistic read even though the last chapter is out of order and needs proofing.

This book has more interesting twists and turns than I have ever found in a novel. The unique plot had me so intrigued that I found myself staying awake much too late just to see what could possibly happen next. This author has an incredible imagination and knack for making one understand the emotions and private thoughts of each character. I am a huge fan!

Wow! Never has a book painted the complexities of marriage and relationships so well. I had so many mixed emotions for Claire. I went from frustration, sadness to admiration. She really did go through quite a self discovery as she figuring out the secrets of her husband. This was a wonderful, but intense read.

The writing was solid and clean and this book should've been a four. The story started out fun, realistic, and compelling, but in the end it produced one unbelievably perfect male character, and one woman who inexplicably turns into such a panty waist with her ex-husband that I suddenly disliked her. I didn't think the motivation for accommodating her "ex" was well developed, and the story seemed to rush to a finish with a "diary" tone taking over. Also, some of the scenes with the "perfect" male character came off romance novel-ish.

The story was written with mystery and feeling by a wife, mother, and friend. It was quite interesting, and in depth . I felt it a a bit long in the end. Not a bad read, it's definitely a woman's book.

I have enjoyed reading this book. It's an unusual mystery so different from the ones I usually read. Claire is an interesting character, though her patience is beyond me. I am not sure if I could have done what she had to do to rehabilitate Greg. As a flawed human she displayed more care and concern than most. I understand that she wants her children's father back for them

Heart wrenching and soul searching. A book about decisions and consequences that will hold your attention until the end. I'm glad it had closure as many books on here lead to a sequel. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author

This book is probably realistic to a lot of readers. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them. Other than Drew and perhaps Sarah, I couldn't relate to any of these characters. What a dysfunctional bunch, especially Claire.

Greg went on another business trip on Tuesday, but he doesn't come home as planned on Friday. Claire's world becomes a rollercoaster as she tries to keep her two daughter's lives somewhat normal while trying to explain about "Daddy's absence."

What a compelling first novel! Kate's descriptions and twists allowed the reader to not only become involved with the characters but forced the reader to continually wonder what will happen next. This was a wonderful first novel with great creativity that combines the best of a potential real life situation with a mystery that just keeps growing. It certainly made me think, "What would I have done???"

Thought I Knew You is a skillful examination of a marriage from the wife's point of view after her husband goes missing. The writing is wonderful, the story fresh and entertaining, and the ending is a surprise which left me thinking Wow, I didn't see that coming! I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys character driven stories with solid plots.

I liked that this wasn't the typical predictable story. Claire's husband disappears and you sort of expect him to pop in the story at any moment. But the story takes on an unexpected twist which I won't reveal lest I spoil the story line. A good read

This book will make you look more closely at your own relationships. How well do you know the people in your life? It is a page-turner that will keep you guessing until the end.

Excellent character development and story arc -- hard to believe this was a first-time published author. Superbly written. I can't wait to read whatever Ms. Moretti writes next!

How would you feel if your husband of eight years and father of two young girls suddenly disappears without a clue? And what if you are drawn to a long time friend who you know secretly loves you? How would you cope? How would your girls cope? A taut and skillfully crafted story that plays with emotions.

This was a compelling story which kept me guessing throughout what the "end" will be. I read it in one day--it's an easy read that one can pick up at intervals and not lose any part of the story. I enjoyed this book and will not hesitate to read others by this author.

Claire Barnes had settled into a not so great marriage to a man who is a wonderful father and not so great a husband. She cancels the babysitter when her husband is late getting home and feels a familiar anger. The next day she calls the police when she finds he had not boarded his plane back and he does not answer his phone. This starts a painful exploration into what happened to her husband. Unable to leave it to the police, she gets the help of her childhood friend Drew to help her try to piece the clues together. There is no body and no trace and she has to try to get her life back on track again with a 2 and 4 year old.

That in mind, I still had a hard time feeling any sympathy for Claire and Drew. Drew claims to love Claire, but he rejected Claire anytime they were both single and when he knew Claire's husband was out of the picture, he started a relationship with someone else. They were immature people I had a hard time caring about. The conclusion was to be expected, but the premise was a good one until you got to know Greg, Claire and Drew. "The Pilot's Wife" was a better book, because with the Shreve book you had a wife who was a grown up and still had her trust used against her. Her husband could have asked for a divorce, but instead chose to marry in a Catholic church ceremony the woman who knew he was married when she started having an affair with him and who brought two kids into that life. She felt the same betrayal and pain, but was only guilty of trusting her husband too much. "Thought I Knew You" does make a case for snooping more when you feel something is off.

This should have been written as a short story instead of a book. It seemed to drag on too long. I thought of putting it down more than once, but kept reading in case it got better. Too bad, because it was an interesting concept.

This was an exciting book with many plot twists that kept me interested and reading to the end. I felt like a few things were rather far fetched and implausible, but I still enjoyed the book and the characters,
