Another lovely book from Sarah Addison Allen. Lost Lake is full of interesting characters who make you love them and care about their lives. The story is set in a charming environment, and includes some engaging magical elements, but it is the relationships between the characters that stayed with me long after I was done reading.

Sarah Addison Allen has done it again. Love her magical whimsey with food and herbs. Always look forward to her latest work. She is a quick read as you get lost in her story telling , and then sad to reach the end of the journey. Been a fan from her debut.

Sarah Addison Allen has quickly become my favorite author and this book has helped cement her status. It is a read you can't put down full of memorable characters and a beautiful weave of the happiness, love, pain, sorrow, and humor that life brings along with a bit of the author's trademark magic.

I love her stories. What a wonderful insight into folks and situations and relationships. As a librarian, I rarely buy books, but I have all of hers because they are well worth reading over and over.. If you are sad, if you are in love, if you just need a good book. Amen

I love Sarah Addison Allen and look forward to reading her books. I was disappointed with this book. Usually her books brings magic to the story. I didn't find the alligator even believable. I felt that pieces of the book were left unfinished. It is a quick read. Just missed Sarah's normal magical story.

I loved Lost Lake, I thought that Lost Lake , right along with Garden Spells were 2 of Sarah Addison Allen's best books, and I've read everything she's written. This is beautifully written, very charming , quite magical story, and the characters that keep growing and changing.

I read different types of fiction by tons of different writers. I had never read anything by Sarah Addison Allen and a girlfriend convinced me to read "Lost Lake". I loved it. It's got strong female characters, which I love. (The men aren't bad either!) This is a great book to read on a lazy Sunday.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read. I always love the weaving of daily life, magical places and the supernatural in Sarah Addison Allen's books, and she has done it again. Superb. I am picturing the movie with Shirley McClaine playing one of the ladies. I love the alligator too! Charming.

Sarah Addison Allen is one of my most favorite new finds. I bought all of her books as quickly as possible and look forward to reading them again and again. "Lost Lake" is especially sweet and wonderful.

The characters were very interesting and highly developed as a very dysfunctional family background .

That money was more important than loving one another as shown by Kathy;s return to Lost Lake with her daughter.

Eby was the rock for all the characters to feel love and to be wanted.

I love Sarah Addison Allen's books. All her stories have the southern mystical touch. Lost Lake is rich with characters & a generational plot that pulls everyone together. I have so many sticky tabs in it to refer to, I have to read it again.

I loved this book. I loved the characters and the situations. The romantic part was a little predictable, and that's why I didn't give it five stars, but that's a minor gripe. Overall, this is one of the best summer books I have read in a long time.

I just love Sarah Addison Allen's books. Such poignant relationships, written with heart and soul. Slightly surreal, but not self indulgent fantasy. I find myself believing in just a touch of a mystical world.

Enjoyable read with a cuppa over a few lazy afternoons. Allen blends just the right amount of magic and gritty real life with a cast of such crazy, lovely characters I wish I could book a summer vacation at Lost Lake right now.

Every woman's identity is here in this fantasy. it's a delightful tale with charming characters deftly described. Beautifully written with the southern scene perfectly captured. Young North Carolinian Sarah Addison Allen writes better with each book

not her best book. HOWEVER, i loved that this one was by far and away the cleanest of her novels. it was a sweet, enchanting story with likable characters. just not as magical for me as some of her other books.

I love a story about forgiveness, and redemption, and love, and accepting and overcoming the ugly world by being kind. Everyone got what they deserved, another winner for Sarah Addison Allen, all wrapped up in swoon-worthy prose.

I love Sarah Addison Allen's books for her clever take on magical realism. As always, I found my self transported to a town filled with characters I wanted to meet. Was so sad when it ended. Thanks for the wonderful escape from regular life!

I waited impatiently for this book and it was better than I had hoped. The hint of magic is there, of course, and the protagonist is a lonesome young woman who must realize her strength in order to find love and be happy with her life. I loved those familiar aspects of this novel, but in true magical form Sarah Addison Allen delivered a gift especially for me. You see, I love alligators. What do you love? You may just find it in this fantastical, heartbreaking and uplifting novel!

Each of the characters must make a choice about the ending of their story. Each is so well drawn emotionally that the reader is pulled into their choices. Lovely use of magic realism in the novel makes the reader believe each will make the best choice, and look forward to the consequences.

happy endings story most of which is predicted by chapter 3. One or two twists surprise you a little but for the most part it's a series of overlapping romances. Very pleasing. The alligator make been a little over the top.

Allen has such a talent for character development. I always feel that I am part of the story and know the characters personally. My only criticism might be that it read so fast and was over too soon. Loved it, though.

Entertaining, light, great inside into characters.
The story flows naturally, the end, although anxiously expected, has its wonderful surprise, which makes it even better.
Clearly the author is a woman and she does not dare go into her male characters minds as profoundly as she does with feminine characters, I wish she had taken the risk; however this does not diminish one but the quality of her work.

I love Sarah Addison Allen's books. Every book has a trace of whimsy and magic woven into the very fabric of the story. Her characters grab your heart and stay with you long after the last page is read. Brilliant!

Normally I devour books by Sarah Addison Allen. They're just so cozy and magical they literally give me butterflies! I don't know if it was the setting or the characters of this book, but I wasn't as in love this time. It took me nearly a year to finish because I stopped near the end and wasn't too pressed to finish. Still good, though.

So many true-to-life characters, each fully fleshed out, each with their own rich history and stories, all beautifully interconnected. I found myself rooting for them all to save Lost Lake and their places in it.

Allen's books are always fun reads with quirky characters and just enough mystical aspects to make the characters unique personalities. This was no different and more believable than her other books (I love them all) . If you want a fast eras with no stress you will enjoy is book. Great fun!

Smells, tastes, slights, feelings denied and acknowledged.....Sarah Addison Allen is up to her usual good writing...her books make me laugh, cry and think. She writes in a way that makes the reader smell, taste, see, and feel what her characters are experiencing.

I love Sarah Addison Allen's books for the little bit of magic that they always have. The characters make you care about them. I am so glad the author made it through her battle with cancer. We missed you!
