This book is based on the online TV series, not modified like in Lisi Harrison's books. So for the hardcore fans who want something closer to home get this book. Not to discredit Lisi Harrison's novels as I like them too. But this is a fun read.

I originally bought the Monster High "young adult" series of 4 books for my 8 year old niece who's a big Monster High fan. However, I was VERY disappointed at the messages those books reinforced over and over. I thought Monster High was about embrasing differences and being kind, but those books were exactly the opposite. They reinforced beauty over brains and being "mean/cool" over being nice. They reinforced that it is acceptable to make fun of boring, smart, "ugly" people but, heaven forbid if anyone makes fun of the gorgous, dim-witted Monsters!!! There was NOTHING in those books that was appropriate for the typical Monster High fan-base, namely 7-13 year old girls. btw, those 4 books went in the trash and will NOT be given to my niece. That's how bad they are. The woman who wrote them should really be ashamed of herself.

Then I found this book. I must say that THIS is what I thought Monster High is all about. The characters are kind and helpful and focus on friendship in the right ways. They are not overly concerned with looks, make-up or clothes. They are just genreally NICE characters! THIS book will be going to my niece as soon as I finish it!!! :-) I can't wait for THIS author to continue the series!!! Good job!!!

There are new monsters at Monster High, three being students, and another a new teacher. She is very beautiful and elegant, but she also mysterious, you know, being a rare dragon whisperer and all. When she left her old school she was welcomed with open arms, but no one knew the real story. After Miss Flapper showed up the monsters and teachers at school started acting strange. Rochelle Gargoyle, Venus Mcflytrap, and Rebecca Steam are some of the few that aren't acting strange. What is happening to the school? How will they fix the monster body at school?

I liked this book, especially the some of the elaborate pictures. I haven't read books with pictures in a long time, so it was kind of weird about to read the next page and coming across a two- page picture. I also like how it's not slow at all, because there is always another piece of the puzzle that doesn't fit or a problem they have to solve!

I just absolutely love Monster High and this book made it so much more real for the book worm that I am ha-ha. This new series is so much more true to what Monster High is and it was so much fun seeing this world get turned into words for us fans to read.

In this book some things seem a little different from the webseries like this school is actually a boarding school. However, other than that it stays very true to the show and very true to the characters.
In the beginning we get to meet Rochelle Goyle as it's moving in day for the freshmen. So we get a tour of the school from Miss Sue Nami (love her character) and the description of the monsters world is so amazing it'll make the child in you flutter with joy. After we get to meet her the chapters alternate between her and two other characters, Venus McFlytrap and Robecca Steam.

I really enjoyed reading about all of them and getting to know them better. Its' really cool to see that there is a series out there that isn't about the main group of monster's from Monster High, it's nice to see the side characters step up to the plate. Rochelle has to be my favorite, I love her culture and her constant following of rules. Her species follows a moral code and they are very knowledgeable of facts and it was fun being behind her eyes. She was absolutely sweet and her caring side got her into some sticky situations.

Venus was my second favorite. I love her punk style with her half shaven head. She is one that truly stands out to me. Not only does she have a punk look but she's got a hippie heart as she is a plant species so she has her heart on saving the planet. Then lastly you got Robecca, I liked her but I didn't connect to her or fell for her character. She seemed a bit immature for me and her constant at being late for things kind of got to me. Yes, that's her personality, being late for things but that side of her personality didn't boat well for me. Other than that she started to grow on me.

Now the little crushes going on throughout the book they are sweet and perfectly innocent which will put a smile on your face. I loved Rochelle's struggle with being apart from her boyfriend who lives in Scaris and I enjoyed the sweet Cyclops that is there to protect Robecca from any harm. And there is a lot of harm as the students in school begin to change and start to worship this new teacher.

Overall I enjoyed this and any fan of Monster High will love this or at least enjoy the fact that it got turned into words for us. It was a blast to see this world in another way and I can't wait for the next book to come. The only thing that made me sad about this was that we didn't get a reason why the school is being targeted. So the mystery will be running into the next book.

I bought this book because of all the hype about the new series, conforming more to the main monster high story. And I love the character team up. I started knowing full well it would be written for kids, I've been reading childrens books for a long time and doing research to becoming a childrens author myself, so I gave it a shot even if it would be dumbed down. This book is not only dumbed down, I lost brain cells forcing myself through it. This book is so bad it's almost laughable. The ONLY good thing in this book is the character depth of Rochelle, Venus and Robecca; the writer does a good job illustrating their personality depth. But that's where the good ends. The story is suppose to be several months of plot, condensed down to a fraction of the time. There is no suspense or thrill, even though it's suppose to be about saving the school from an evil monster. Fight sequences or solving mysteries are described in one sentence. But then meaningless actions such as a character's thoughts about a boy or a useless factoid about Scaris, lasts a whole paragraph. Not only that, the friendship between the girls is forced, and you see no real bond other. It's not believable. None of this is. This book sucks, don't waste your time.

I would rather read fanfiction written by 12 year olds than continue with this series.

After finishing Monster High book 1 of the teen series that was done I found myself wishing for more from our favorite ghouls. Here from a new author it is. Ghoul Friends Forever still takes place in Salem Oregon with the monsters out publicly like at the end of the last series. There are some changes between series like classic characters such as Headmistress Bloodgood and Hoodude Voodoo. Even Cy Clops whose images are seen in some of the Ghouls Rule DVD screen shots.

This new book stars Ghouls Rule new charcters Rochelle Goyle, Venus McFlytrap and Robecca Steam as new Monster High dorm students and room mates. We get to learn quickly about what these new characters are like as they inter act with Deuce, Frankie Stein and other classic Monster High characters. Seems the new dragon whisper teacher Miss Flapper is actually a monster whisper and is quickly changing the personalities of the student body from be yourself to monster superiority over normals. Soon only Rochelle, Venus and Robecca are left to fight back before it is too late.

My 8 year old loves monster high, so we bought this book. After attempting to read the first few pages, we had to take a break because the words are too hard for her to understand.

Its like the author used a thesaurus and added 25 new words to every paragraph. Its like she wrote a sentence like "there is a door in the house" and then she picked up her thesaurus and rewrote it as "there is a crackled rouge opening masked with a hinged board amist the chateau grande" and now we have NO IDEA what she's talking about. Do not buy this book, read the other negative review.
I am so disappointed in Mattel and Scholastic ...the reviews on here must be written by the author herself because no parent or child that bought the book could actually understand it enough to write a positive review.
Note there's 2 monster high authors, perhaps the other is better, but this Gitty whoever is awful and waste of money.

This was a wonderful movie. My 7 year old niece adores Monster High but the family knew nothing about it. For her birthday we bought this movie and watched it as a family. From my 95 year old mother to the 5 year old "little brother" we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I had been worried that perhaps the subject matter was too advanced for the little ones, but no. It was right on target.

I was thrilled by this magnificent book! It is perfect for grade levels' 3rd to 8th grade and describes the events' wisely and detailed. I highly recommend this book because it will entertain you and is a page-turner. The author has created a great book. But for smaller children I wouldn't recommend. This book has a great deal of vocabulary such as "grotesque" or "chateu"

My daughter read all the Monster books by Lisi Harrison. We read the reviews saying this one would be a bit different. We decided to try it anyway. My daughter is slogging through it. It is more like the webisodes and geared to a younger audience. If you like the webisodes, you'll enjoy the new books. My daughter just preferred the original storyline.

This book is so cool. I found it much more like the doll line than Lisi's monster high series. The school was brainwashed by Miss Flapper, the new teacher. New students Rochelle, Robecca, and Venus are the only ones who can turn things right again. This book has a very advanced vocabulary. I recommed it, but younger readers may need some help with the tough words.

Bought this on kindle format for my 11 y/o tween who loves all things Monster High. She was super excited and is already just about finished with it. Like the previous Monster High books it's an easy read, not too "scary" to lose sleep but just enough to keep a girl glued to her kindle!

I got this book to read to my daughter who loves MH. Her favorite is Venus so I thought this would just be a fun child's book for her. I was surprised that I really got into the book and enjoyed the story very much myself. I hope that there will be another book.

really people? just cuz its a new series on monster high and its not written by an original author like liz *wink wink* doesnt mean it should be judged. i mean you probley could never publish a book and have like millions of people buy it just like that... its not that simple. some people spend years and years working on one book so unless your willing to take that time, do that and come back andsay it was easy just Shut up!

I too am an adult collector and adore most things Monster High. I even have an arrangement with a distributor in the UK to receive the Monster High Magazine with the "photo" cards on the regular basis! I had ordered this book and at the same time I had ordered the mouse and mousepad (another story) :( I really enjoyed the Lisi Harrison series even though it was not exactly like the dolls and was very excited for this new book.

Wow! What a disappointment, while I understand the whole series is designed for children (I just finished taping the television show on Nickelodeon) I still had felt that Lisi Harrison had done a tremendous job of "bridging the gap" so to speak.

Not anymore sadly, in fact the whole binding and cardboard finish reminds me of cheap textbooks when I was younger! While the story is more in line with the new dolls and seems to be more in line with the characters, the print is so large that I honestly feel that another complete novel would fit in with this one and it isn't even marked "large print"!

Sadly I will not buy anymore of this series book based on the cheap feeling binding and the huge lettering. Being a book artist myself, it is really disappointing to even think that the future of collectible books may be in this cheap, machine bound book with HUGE letters. :(
