Although my daughter is 9 years old, there were stories in this collection that she absolutely loved, so it is appropriate even for tweeners. The stories are easy to read and are short enough so that they are great for bedtime, either as their bedtime reading, or when I want to read something quick to them. We just finished reading Funny Things I Heard At The Bus Stop and my daughter was looking for more short stories, and this book definitely fit the bill!

I bought this for my Kindle touch. It was impossible to navigate since there was no table of contents.
The new Kindle update 5.10 solved this problem, as the "go to" screen now allows you to navigate between chapters. The stories are generally good for the price.

My kids are ages 3, 4 and 5. None of them were interested in it. Had their attention for about 2 minutes. Wish there was less wording and bigger pictures. I thought it was a good price for the content. Perhaps when the kids get a little older they will appreciate it more.

We were at the hospital visit a very sick friend. His family including 4 grandchildren were there (ages 3 - 10) They were getting restless, so out came my new Kindle Touch. It is always with me. Fired it up, turns out the hospital has an open wi-fi. Quickly searched and found this for $.99. Downloaded in an instant. In minutes I had the kids distracted with the unique, but wholesome stories. By the third story the older ones had the Kindle figured out and took over. Great stories, much like fables but think based on Indian stories. Kids had never heard them yet wholesome teaching stories. Great for all ages.

If you are badly stuck at story time this will just about do the job. However, the grammar, continuity of writing and imagination leave a lot to be desired. Nowhere near as polished as a real book written by a children's author. Even at such a cheap price, I do not believe it was worth the money. Sorry to be cruel but if you take 20 seconds to make up a story in your head you'll probably come up with something better.

First of all, this is the first book that I have seen in years that is tailored for children in Preschool through 2nd grade. It is a wonderful collection of 100 fairy tales for children of all ages. As a mother of four with two children ages 5 and 6, it is a great collection of stories that are short and sweet. Each story is well written. It opens a child's level of imagination in ways that allow them to explore, use critical thinking skills, while enjoying a great story. The stories are short in nature to keep the attention of any child, regardless of their age. The stories are written in a simple format that makes reading for beginning readers easy to follow. The pictures flow great with the stories. They are very descriptive while not being too detailed. They inspire the imagination in my children that many other stories have never done.

The writer did a wonderful job keeping the stories short, sweet, and full of excitement. They are great for traveling with young children and even my 10 year old daughter has enjoyed a few stories. This collection of stories made the drive from picking up the kids from school, squeezing in a quick shopping trip, and a quiet ride home more pleasurable. This collection of fairy tales makes for wonderful bedtime stories too. My 6 year old loves to grab my kindle to read the stories. They are short and easy for her to read and understand. She is even able to read them to her younger sister. They often go back to The Magical Mouse, and read it over and over. I would recommend this collection of stories to any parent, grandparent, or caregiver. It's inexpensive and well worth the money. I wouldn't trade this book for anything!

I'm mad at myself for spending money on this. The writing is amaturish and not something parents should be reading to kids. This is not easy to compare to something done well or professionally. The author doesn't deserve a pass because she's self published. The stories are rough. The pictures are poorly done.

"100 Fun Stories" is a great book for anybody who has kids or works with kids. I am always looking for low-cost books for kids that include a variety of things. With the 100 stories offered in this book, your child is sure to find at least one they enjoy. There's stories about animals, dinosaurs, princesses, fairies....truly something for everyone! A great starting book at a wonderful price if you're trying to find something that interests your young reader.

I work with children of various ages as a tutor and babysitter, and this is an example of a great book. First of all, I love that it is on the Kindle. Kids LOVE working with e-readers and laptops, so just having the book pop up on one of these devices instantly ups the excitement factor. Second, the book actually includes fun, full-color images that are pleasing and serve to break up the text. This makes reluctant readers and young children feel less 'overwhelmed' as they try to read the stories on their own. The stories are also exciting enough to use as read alouds. Characters and stories are simple so children can feel empowered in their ability to read and understand them.

The book displays beautifully on both my ereader and laptop through my reading apps. I haven't noticed any serious textual errors and images show up just fine. The table of contents includes links to every story and you can, of course, bookmark favorites on most devices. They certainly aren't 'epics' by any stretch of the imagination, but the story structure is perfect for young kids and a great starting point to get them interested in reading. Images can be used to spark discussions or supplementary activities if you're looking for a more 'serious'/educational reading experience with a child.

Whether you're shopping for a child you look after or teach, trying to find some quick bedtime stories, or a distraction during errands and long trips, this book has what you need. For the low price, 100 stories are a great deal and sure to include something that pleases. Illustrations add to the fun and kids will love them! I can't imagine you and your child wouldn't get some good use and enjoyment from these fun stories.

This is quite the collection. I mean, 100 stories is a lot of stories and each one of them has cute good-looking illustrations. All of the images look great on my PC and Kindle Fire. This book is sure to become a favorite among your little ones as many of the stories are absolute treasures. Sure, some of the stories have a lot fantasy involved in it like the story "How the Butterfly Got Its Colors," but that is to be expected of fairy tale stories. If your child likes fairy tales then I would definitely recommend this book.

A collection of 100 stories for younger kids. I borrowed mine through kindle prime but even buying the book would be a bargain.

The stories are sort and often the plot seems to end abruptly, but the kids with whom I've shared the book never seem to notice. They love the stories. They love the illustrations. I love that there arent too many pictures so I can let the kids use their imaginations.

I found more than a few typos, but again the kids never seem to care. What they like is the ability to keep asking for more without my running out.

This book has worked wonders for me and my niece. For quite a while I was having some trouble getting her to sleep at night and not to mention having to stay up with her and then wake early in the morning to get her ready for school. When I first got this book I was a little sceptic that it would be like most of the other children's stories in its category. When i began to read i however I found that my niece became eager and quite interested in the characters. Every story brought joy to her and at nights she became very eager for it to be bed time. What I love about this book and I feel others do not appreciate is that it is not so simple. The lack of simplicity enhances the reading experience and when this happens I find that my niece asks more questions hence she learns more. I can honestly say this is a well written and educational children’s book which I would recommend to all parents.

y three year old and I loved this wonderfully illustrated book, full of rhymes and stories. There are stories with morals, classic tales of magic and lore and stories spiced with fun and laughter. You can even find the odd recipe inside, for fun things to do afterwards! The illustrations are many and varied and helped with my child's understanding of each short tale.

The format works well on my iPad and because there are so many stories, when you've finished reading you can simply go to the beginning and start again!

A thoroughly good buy and lots of reading fun for little people.

5 Stars from me!

Very easy and fun read for the beginning reader. 100 Fun Stories for 4-8 Year Olds (Yellow Series) offers fresh new stories not just the same old stuff that you may be used to. These stories are clever and witty with meaningful plots. Each story offers a foundation that can be used to build a lesson plan around. The stories are great for summer reading fun and with a little creativity you can implement them into your outdoor activities. After reading each new story take a trip to the library and finding more information for your child on each topic. I really love the stories they made me think and I even had to do some research myself to learn about some of the animals mentioned in the book.

The stories are great and my daughter likes to read them, but there are many grammar errors that make it very hard to teach someone proper sentence structure - especially when a book is supposed to be accurate. Spend a little more time fixing errors and it would be great!

Most of the stories in this book were good, cute stories but, several particularly in the last half of the book just ended in what seemed was the middle of the story. Also the errors in this book are numerous. It seems as if it was not proofread. So if your child is reading aloud their mistakes may actually be what's in the book. I've never read a book with so many errors.

My three-and-a-half-year-old daughter really seemed to like this, but probably more because she's a fan of "stories" in general and doesn't understand how narratives work. Some of these stories we cute and clever, but most seemed like the author was making them up on the fly and then just abruptly wrapped them up. No real plot, conflict, or resolution. Just "There was a frog named Tim and he liked eating flies, and then a fly said hi to him, and now he doesn't eat flies anymore." That's not really a story, per se, and although that's not actually in the book, I often thought "What's the point?". I recognize that they're just children's stories, but most classics have a story line and often a lesson as well. These were a far cry from that. On the positive side, my daughter enjoyed them.

The only thing that we didn't like about this book was that it didn't have enough stories. We could never agree on how many. He wanted more & more & while I enjoyed reading them as much as he enjoyed listening, I knew that I had to set a for the night. After each story he loved telling me the lesson it taught. Please keep these books coming. I just hope that they "get older" with him. Thank you for all the great bedtime memories!

I love kids books mainly because of the hipe when I tell my nieces I have a new book for them. This one is great for children as there are so many different stories. I suggest starting at the beginning as this is what we have done and were sure not to miss any. The author has done a great job putting these stories together. I can see why it has so many likes and so many reviews. It's certainly worth getting! You will be glad you did.

I started the reading the first story, and I stopped about 2 minutes in. It was written in verse, but the meter was terribly off. It nearly killed me. Plus, the story was boring, and it used the same pictures over and over.

Ok, in all fairness i did not read the whole book. I downloaded the sample and so glad i did that. Ths book is enough to give a child nightmares. Its graphic and violent. Then it uses words even i have never heard before. Would never recomend this book to anyone. Appalled it received so many big stars.

Great study that I’ve referred back to for many years now. We miss this beautiful teacher. Her passion for the Lord and his truth is so inspirational. Im so thankful for her written revelation that lives on for greater Biblical understanding and growth in the Body of Christ.

I always read to my granddaughter when she spends the night. These stories are the perfect length for bedtime reads. We both enjoy them! I never have to figure out what to read to her with so many stories available in one book.

This is such a sweet book. The stories and pictures are charming, fun and educational. They are upbeat, positive and wonderful. I found it to be everything you would want in a child's book. Each story is well written but more importantly it is a story, the kind of tale that your child will ask you to repeat to them each year. And, your child will probably even have a favorite. Add to this that the book has games and jokes and you have the perfect book!

I bought this on a whim to read to my kids. Every other story is some strange story about how creatures were made or the Earthmaker. It is like someone took stories of a tribal history and wrote a kids book about it. Messages are good, but trying to explain God vs Earthmaker to my kids is not what I want to deal with before bedtime. Besides, the part where the Earthmaker "jammed the owl's head down into his shoulders and gave him a thick neck" was not an image that I expected to share with my kids. Waste of $.99.

i got this kindle book free with the store prime when we were stuck without a bedtime story on vacation. unbelievably amateurish in writing and illustration, with many typos as well. however i'm giving it two stars because it did the job and gave me and my eight year old some good laughs.

My husband bought 100 Fun Stories for our son because he loved 50 Fun Stories for 3-7 Year olds so much. Sharlene Alexander is an absolutely amazing children's author! With 100 stories this book is a steal for the money!

I've been looking for cute stories that will get my 6 year old into reading more. This book really captured his attention and makes him sit still for a while. (An amazing alternative to sitting him in front of the tv for an hour).
It definitely has re-read value.

I thought the stories were great, however some of the stories had no periods. It is difficult for a seven year old to read without periods. Also, the pictures were in the wrong stories. Like the whole thing was out of sinc. I guess it could be my kindle but I have not had this problem with other books.

I love this book to use for my kids because it has different stories in it. It is also very eye-catching to them because of the funny and colorful images being illustrated. They love this bookThe Earth Dog Story very much.

i was disappointed in these stories, i found them very simple, poorly written and not fun to read. i only read 5 or 6 of the stories, so perhaps i was unlucky, but i would not recommend this to anyone.

I don't understand why this book is so highly ranked on the store. The stories are either a)without punctuation, b)trite and boring or c) not interesting. My daughter will listen to almost anything and she wasn't impressed. There are lots of great children's books in the world, even some at .99. Save your money.

My sister runs a preschool and she found not a single story out of a 100 that she was willing to share for reading time. I thought she was exagerating until I read it myself. I'm ashamed for the author, her friends and relatives, as not a one seems to realize how terrible these stories are. I'm so glad my husband bought this for his kindle so he has to deal with the store to get a refund. As for me, no I won't be holding my tongue about how bad this is and how angry I am with the author for pushing such terrible stories on children.

this is seriously not cool i mean especially for christens like me . my little sister 7 years old thinks that all the greek gods are real because my mum read her a book called greek myths we keep on telling her there not real but she keeps on beliving that they were real what would happen if i read her this book !!!

The writing in many of these stories is just awful. Some are well written and uplifting, like Simon and the Evil Serpent. others are just bad, bad, bad. I will say this, I bought this to have on my phone to read to my son if we're out and about and we have to wait for something and he LOVES the stories. Loves them and asks me to read them repeatedly.

I don't care whether the author include 40 stories or 400 in her next work I won't read it, and you shouldn't either. The stories are unreadable garbage. There's not even one that passes as medoicre. They're all badly written, badly plotted.

My niece (who is four) enjoyed these stories a lot. They are just the right length to hold her attention, and she especially enjoyed the story about Princess Ella's teeth!

The stories are fun and definitely age appropriate. My personal favourite is the one about a rainy day as it brings back memories of my own childhood - so I enjoyed reading that one to her as well.

A really good choice for the specified age range with lots of stories to choose from so there will be something in here to captivate any child.

I read to my 7-year-old niece regularly and she really enjoys the stories. My teen-aged daughter sometimes reads to the young children she babysits and they like them, too! The stories are very cute and keep the kids entertained for awhile. It's a great bargain for the money, I've spent more than $2.99 before on books that only have a couple short stories in them (and not that good even), all of these stories are enjoyable, and you get one-hundred of them! Recommended for anyone with children in the house!
