While not at quite the level of pace we see in the first two books, the books still delivers. People start changing, due to the incidents in the second book and we start to see what the Ravens network is actually capable of. The lifegiver legend moves into a new kingdom and we see change there as well. All in all a fun read. Look forward to the next book.

I really like how new players "fae" are introduced in this book. The series doesn't take the typical approach of a kingdom filled by a monarch and a white knight fighting for justice. In this series it really showed a new side to our hero reskin and just how different he is to the normal people of the world. It's a must read if you want a mix of magic, science and fantasy.

Overall I like it, but it's not nearly as good as the first two books. A lot of lore element was added to the world, but by adding so much I think shifted the focus from what was being built up in the past two books. We see a lot less growth and maturity from the minor cast of book 1 and 2. Also Fisha even more annoying than the past two books combined, at this point I think I dislike her more than most of Rez's enemies. I can't help but feel that Kel had so many ideas for this book that forgot to add on all the previous story elements and character arcs leaving a lot of questions unanswered.

Rezkin is awesome! This has been one of the best series I've picked up in a long time. Excellent character development, world building, and overall story line, wow! Stayed up wayyyyy too late. Read books 1 to 4 in about a week.

I love this series and am glad the third book continued with the awesomeness of Rez. I love the new plot turns and the vulnerability shown by Rez at some points.
I am also glad Frisha was minimal in this book and they are not together. She is useless and very onesided and shallow. I just can't get why she is betrothed to Rez. He needs a strong woman who understand and appreciates all of him. Frisha is judgemental and doesn't accept who he is. She acts and speaks like a fifteen year old.
I really like Ilanet (forgot how you spell it). She has character, wit and understanding. She would be good as the future queen for dark tidings.
All in all, I am enjoying it and can't wait for book 4.

Couldn’t put it down. Literally would read snatches at a time on my phone sitting at red lights. The first book really tickled my funny bone with all the misinterpreted interactions with Rezkin. Hope to get some answers revealed in the next book! Also would like to see a strong female character fully developed.

There are many books like these with an all-powerful main character who can get through seemingly anything without effort. They face challenge after challenge, yet they aren't even challenges for them.
The author though for these books does it perfectly! As you read, you relate so much to the characters. They become real and believable, even though what the main character does is unbelievable. I don't know how to describe it really, but these books are very good and are definitely worth the read!

I have been waiting for this book to come out for months. I just can't get enough. While the stories may be lacking in plot twists and jaw dropping conclusions, the story is well written, entertaining, and addicting. I noticed above average grammatical errors, but that did not detract from the fun and joy of reading it. Highly recommend, especially if you have kindle subscription.

Geeze, Kel - it took you long enough!!
I had to re-read books 1 & 2 so I would be up on what's happening next. This story is quite a departure from the first two books. 700+ pages is not enough, but I felt a tad let down in the second half of the book. Did not see the Isle of Cael coming nor little Bilior. Lots of characters in this book, but I feel by the time they got to Cael many of them were relegated to non-persons. Striker Farson shows up in Rezkin's "kingdom" and they have some heated words between them, but that's it. Farson KNOWS who Rezkin is and better yet, WHY Rezkin is, yet Rezkin does not ask Farson who and why he is and Fasron does not offer any of the information. Perhaps Mr. Kade is going to make a big reveal in the final book.
Rezkin also did not ask or volunteer to help those poor little white creatures who were possessed and then set free.. What are they?
Rezkin is getting more alien by the chapter.
On a final note - the books go on and on how devastatingly handsome and charismatic Rezkin is. I do not see that in the picture on the cover. He looks like an ordinary man - and we all know that he is NOT.

This book was along a similar thread as the first two, but darker and with less epic action.
It made me ponder the peculiarities of the main characters persona to a greater degree.
That said, I still very much enjoyed it.
Read it if you haven't. Decide for yourself.

This was a step back for KK. The character building was minimal and the plot waned at times. On a macro level the entire story deviated from medieval S&S into high epic fantasy, which was just incongruent with the previous two books' world building set up. I wanted more growth out of the characters and a richer plot.

Really really enjoyed the first two books of this series. Think this book was completely inconsistent with the main storyline. Seems to introduce/discard characters for no reason. Introduces whole new magic system for no justifiable reason in this book. I get that he might be trying to world build for the next books but the first two books read as fast, loose and very enjoyable. This one is written with a very different style/intent and doesn't deliver what the previous books did.

Not quite as fast paced, nor intriguing as 1 and 2, but still very fun to read with all the same character accolades provided in my previous review. Unique twist in the story that will really come to fruition, I imagine, in book 4. Good job, thanks for writing.

I was pretty surprised of what happened in this book. I thought it was worth reading, but I felt it wasn't as good as the other one's it was still great though. The problem I had with it was that it was a complete plot change and it still left a lot of questions. The characters were also acting very weirdly.

Good but but not nearly as good as the previous two. A lot less action, lots of time spent questioning and complaining about Rez, and a bizarre fortress all equate to a much less enjoyable story. Really hope the next book gets back to the type of story that made the first two so good.

I thought the first two would be followed by the typical slower pace less interesting time between filler. I could not have been more wrong. This series rivals rivals any of the all time greats in the genre and surpasses 95%. Absolutely fantastic!

I started with the first book of the series and was hooked....each book has gotten progressively better as if that's possible. Each one becomes a little more mystical/ magical in the storyline and look forward to seeing if Dark Tidings will finally claim his theone!

Well done. Less intense than prior novels. A building platform for what is to come. More interrelationships and intrigue building. The last couple chapters are quite intense though. Some what i would classify as typing errors. Missing prepositions etc. Looking forward to the next book.

This book was written well but it seems like the author was almost fighting himself. Rez is OP that is why the first two books were so good, like a Bruce Lee movie. This book seemed like the author was trying to keep Rez from being OP by adding emotions to his character or something...but just couldn't do it right.

Though the unfamiliar structures and slightly inhuman protagonist seem discordant with normal literary expectations, this installment of King's Dark Tidings grasps those differences and weaves them seamlessly into some of the most human of emotions and goals. The characters have great interactions and individual personalities, and the story keeps pulling me in to be more and more invested.
I heartily recommend this book, but only after reading the novels that precede it. I eagerly await the next installment.

The long-awaited next book in the series continues the story, expanding on the characters, places, and plot. It doesn't have the same level of humor previous books did, but things are darker and more serious now. (There are still a few glowing samples though.) Chaos grows and sometimes it's all Rezkin can do to stay ahead of it, especially when his entourage continues to grow, and at times slow him down.
The camera could focus on him in past books, but it's forced to widen and pull back now due to the sheer scope of things happening, and also the scope of Rezkins's responses. We are also treated to many viewpoints as the story progresses, and it is a treat, because we get to see more of how people perceive Rez, and the groups he employs.
Overall a great addition to the KDT series, and is highly recommended. Read the series in order to get the most from it though. Awesome.

While many may be thrown off by the tone shift this book takes, it seems like a necessary set up for the next part of the journey. I found this book pulling me through the entirety in 2 days. The King's Dark Tidings is addictively fun and book 3 is no exception.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has read the past two, Kel Kade has done a fantastic job at creating Rezkins' story and world.
The one reccomendation is that you should probably re-read the series again after finishing the third installment. It may be slightly confusing where the story heads in the third book but if you read the first two again a lot of it makes sense, especially if you can pick up on the subtle hints in the previous books.
I cannot wait to see where book 4 takes Rezkin and what new things lay in store, hopefully we won't have to wait too long.

First two books were phenomenal, fulfilling reads. Great characters and development. This book RARELY speaks about the favorite characters from 1 and 2. The middle of the book was super slow while the last 10% was super fast. The main character is stuck in pointless internal conjecture instead of plot movement. Excitement level very low this book. Felt rushed. Sorry, Kel Kade, I will only tell you the truth. Don't rush!

I really enjoyed the first two books. However this one was filled with a lot of stuff that did not move the story along. I skipped several pages at a time. It kinda reminded me when I had to write an essay in English class and I just put stuff in to meet the word or page count.

This book did not flow well at all from the first two. Really hated the direction this book took. I was more interested in reading the parts with the theifs than the main story. Characters changed wildly and explanations were poor. Very disapointed in this book!

I absolutely loved the first two in the series. This one seemed a little forced. He tried to add too many new things into the story and it just felt anti climatic at the end. You're literally left in the middle of a story. No decent ending to the book. All in all it was mediocre... Especially when compared to the other two books

This story is a filler all of this could have been confined to a half or quarter of a book. I'm afraid that the author tends to drag this series out to 6 or 7 if not more books. I hate it when authors do this. Book series do not need to be that long or you end up with filler books. 3 to 4 books is enough. This book could have been much better if it was dragged out to make it longer. From someon that loved the first two books I'm extremely disappointed.

A great story line, well crafted. One should read the series from the beginning book, if not much will be confusing as the main character evolves from an amazingly trained, but sheltered warrior with very little understanding how to interface with people and the outside world.
I have throughly enjoy the first three books and await the release of the fourth with a worm on my tongue (baited breath)

It moves the story along. For some reason despite its myriad flaws the series holds interest.
Lots less shrill pouting women than the earlier books, thank god. In fact, the new female characters didn't temper tantrum or stomp out of a scene even once. That is a huge improvement for this author.
Seriously needs a good proofreader.

First, I have to say that I LOVE this series! However, I don't love THIS book. I feels like it lacks purpose. The plot and character development seem to stand still. While I feel most of Rezkin's struggles in this book are expected and necessary, what did he gain from them? Maybe the next book will tie everything together, but I wonder if this third book was a detour that I didn't need to take.

This is definitely a new chapter in the story of Rezkin. you see more of his personality and how it interacts with those around him and builds on his character. I can understand some of the complaints against the third book's change in direction, but I actually liked the world building and did not really mind the injection of some realism into the hero's torturous upbringing and emotional scars. However, the last 30% of the book did seem more rushed and less polished than the earlier sections, and I would have been okay with waiting another month for some final touch ups.

I absolutely loved this book. I read it during Huricane Irma, fantastic diversion. I love the character development, we have to remember, Rez was raised in a cold, impersonal environment. His goals were always his only objective. He was tortured when he did not achieve perfection. There was never any extension of love, affection, friendship! He does care about people, but he does not have any idea what friendship and love mean, he follows the "rules", but he does not understand the importance of those rules. This book reflects a Rez that is beginning to question himself, his relationships and why he is necessary. It's been three books for us, but only a matter of months for Rez. Thank you Kel Kade! I like forward for book four!!!

Overall it’s a good story...but...it drives me crazy when situations are pulled out of thin air and seemingly arbitrarily. The settings, types of beasts, and the goal and direction of the story need a better intro and continuity with the books. It’s like a whole new story line than the first two.

I was happy to finally get to read this book! There were a few misspellings, but nothing that really detracted from the overall story. It definitely showed how this series is going to expand. After reading the first two books, I wasn't sure how the author would be able to continue the storyline without it stagnating. I agree with some other reviewers, some of the things happening were a little murky, with not enough clear explanation(or even hints) as to WHY and HOW they were happening, but it's still a great read. The author is obviously going to continue to explain and expand on the new elements, introduced here, in the next book. I have a feeling it's going to be a great series,

My reaction to the book was... mehhh. Considering the quality and worldbuilding of the previous two, I was quite disaapointed in this one.
My main complain is the fact that this book doesn't follow at all the previous storyline. In this book we learn about a new enemy, a new powerful race of "Fae" and Gods, a new type of magic, new races... It is as if the author is creating a completely new world and storyline witinh this book.
I don't want to give any spoilers but coming from a story about deceit, treason and finding out Rezkin's origins, we come to a coming of age story with powerful magics and devils and "angels".

An entertaining follow on to the previous two books. It seems like Rezkin’s personality has become harder towards those closest to him. I’m not sure how that will play out in book 4. But the story and pace flowed well, and I couldn’t put this book down until I reached the end. I don’t recommend starting to read this late in the evening. And, I hope we won’t be waiting as long for the next book as we did for this one.

Hope book four comes out soon!

Great characters, interaction, and storyline. I especially like the different viewpoints and conclusions from the characters, showing such different views and interpretations of their interplay with other characters and the world.

The plot unfolds and new characters emerge in a nail-biting adventure. Main characters continue to evolve, becoming more complex and realistic in their response to various revelations in book 3. Can't wait for the next book!

I was looking forward to this book, but the author had so many names ans terms that it was hard to follow the story line. Liked the first and second book best. Let's see what the fourth book will bring.

I've reread the first two books multiple times waiting for this one and Kel delivered. Yes the characters are in darker moods and circumstances, which I loved the twist. I enjoyed this book couldn't put it down until I finished and cannot wait for the next book.

If you enjoyed the first two this one was no different. Really enjoyed Tam's character development in this one, as well as finally finding out why (kind of) Rezkin can do what he does as far as his 'talent' is concerned. Looking forward to the next installment.

Not as amazing as the first book, but definitely an enthralling read. I can't wait to see where the fourth goes. Although I'm hoping for even a glimmer of romance at some point, I'm happy to read whenever comes next for Rez. Thanks for a great book :)

Hanging on the next word and sentence and the next paragraph. I celebrate the smallest victory for him in his world where he struggles with the everyday and the real battles that mentally, physically and emotionally ruin those around him he defeats without breaking a sweat .facinating character and story !

A little bit disappointed in this book don't get me wrong the book was great truly great. But the plot was off to me there were so many things left unexplained by the end of the book I was more confused then ready for the second.

This series had me completely enthralled like no other series has for a long time. I love the characters, the story line is a unique twist on classic fantasy ideas and i had trouble putting the books down through out the entire series. I can't wait for the next installment!!!

I am devouring these books, I can't read them fast enough, and he can't publish them fast enough! I'm dieing to know know how Rezkin comes to terms with being so different than the people he finds himself surrounded by.

Reading 4-500 Kindle ebooks a year, I always look forward to your installments on Rezkin.
There are several excellent authors that I look forward to reading. Talent among the mundanes, so to speak.
After many lesser books, it is such a GREAT joy when your new books hit my device.

I was pleasantly surprised with this book. I felt the second one got bogged down with way too many long drawn out discussions between the characters. Book three had better pace and continually kept me interested. Although the author sometimes has a ham fisted way of explaining how/why events occur after the fact..almost like you're reading a history book instead of a well written story. I do like the overall story line and will continue to read his stories in the future.

I could not find anything to downgrade. Easy reading and very good flow to the book. The setting was great and the descriptions were undetstandable, not disjointed like some fantasy books. A great read.

I eagerly awaited this third installment, the hype in my own head may be at fault but I am very disappointed. Story is diverging too far from the Rez in the first two books, Kel is trying to spin a tale that I'm not sure he understands.

While I didn't enjoy it quite as much as the previous two books, I still loved it. I think this book showed Rezkin evolving somewhat, and I'm hoping the next book provides some further explanation about who/what he is. I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series.

Great continuation for the series but much of the book was spent specifically fleshing out the plot. Much of the usual character interaction is faded out and muted. Hope book four can bring that back.

Here's the third installment of an intriguing story Full of adventure, court intrigue, and the ninja like skill of dark tidings. Unlike the other two books I thought that the last part of this book slowed down significantly in tempo and pays as well as being fairly confusing regarding the effect of the island on dark tidings. That being said I thoroughly enjoyed the series and look forward to the last installments.

Book three in this series was a good and fun read. I didn't not enjoy it as much as the first two but it's still very enjoyable. The author gets into a new "greater evil" (being vague to not spoil anything) that threatens the realm, and honestly It feels like an unnecessary addition to the story which draws away from the battle over the throne. That addition is what prevented me from giving a 5 star review. Every time it came up it just felt like the story was side tracked and became more complicated for no reason. I hope it gets sorted out in the next book, either by becoming the focus of the story or being integrated better next time.

Love these books! Great story line kept me interested the whole time- page turner! I read the King Killer Chronicles, and really liked those, but King's Dark Tidings is even better! My opinion of course...

I am not usually into wish fulfillment power fantasies like this one, but Kade does such a great job with Rezkin being a person lost and trying to find his way through a world he doesn't understand that it is easy to overlook the fact that he is more highly trained than Batman! The other characters in the series are every bit as important to the story as Rezkin himself. This series is a must-read that you cannot pass by!

This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites. There is political intrigue, great action scenes, and amazing world building. This story expands the world of Rezkin to include other countries and political leanings. Great story!!!

Before I read this installment, I read the negative reviews. That put me in a mindset to have low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised to find the negative reviews were wrong.
Yes, some of the characters are acting childish and hostile. However, WE are the only one's in Rezkin's mind, and he isn't even transparent to us. Therefore, we have the benefit of understanding his actions that seem devious to the other characters.
This novel is a transition to a greater story including magic and the fae realm. The new characters are a great addition to this storyline. I look forward to continuing this journey with Rez.

I truly enjoy the byplay, emotion and vividness of this series. Like another reviewer I felt the presentation of the main supporting characters was somewhat disconnected from how they were in the previous two. it was still good and I am eagerly awaiting the 4th but it was not quite as magical as the first two books. It does feel like this book was more setting the stage of what will follow and definitely left many more questions needing to be answered. I also liked seeing Rez more vulnerable and how he tries to handle it. Overall, very much worth a read.
