Okay, do you remember when you were a young reader and turned down the pages of favorite scenes you wanted to re-read again later? This book would have so many you'd swear there weren't corners!! The first two chapters had me so hooked I couldn't read fast enough. I finished this long before my review but that's only because I've been having a hard time figuring out what to say without adding spoilers. It's like wanting to tell your best friend all of the juicy details, but you want her to experience that rush of reading them herself so you don't.
I don't usually pick up MMA or fighter books first, but Lori Foster has made me change that view. Yes, they are fighters but you don't have to know about that world to enjoy the story. She does a great job of giving you some idea but that's not the main focus. I found that in Tough Love you got to see how all of these big alpha men had another side to them. They were all a family and you not only wanted to learn about all of them you found yourself caring so much you can't wait for each one to get their own story and HEA.
So, in this story you see how amazing Stack is with his fighter family as well as his personal one, you see Vanity trying to get what she wants and learning why it's so important to her, and you get a few people it's okay to love to hate. :o) Could you want more? Yes, and you get that too by knowing some, if not hopefully ALL of these other amazing characters, will get their own stories because they all seem to get back story enough to tie you in, but you will find yourself unable to wait to read them. It's like the cliffhanger that feels like it will never come you're so excited for it!
Writing this now I think I know why it took me so long to find the exact words, if that's possible. I would have LOVED to tell you all of the exciting, sexy, funny parts of this story but didn't want to ruin it for anyone and there were so many I'd have had enough for another book! I also think if you read this review I only wanted you to have to wait three more excruciating days to read for yourself.
As I said before I love stories with alpha men and strong women but wasn't big on MMA. Reading this I'm reminded why I LOVE Lori Foster's books and will always read each one. What the characters "do" for a living always seems to be in the background and the amazing love stories and friendships are right up front. You want to become a part of their world and when you're reading thankfully, she makes you feel like you are. Like in life, you're glad to get "caught up" on what's going on in old friends lives (Gage/Harper, Cannon/Yvette, Denver/Cherry), as well as excited to see what happens in your new friends lives. Can you say " I CAN'T wait and pray Leese's story is soon?"
I can't wait for Armie and Merissa's story and all of the other guys/girls. That is what Lori Foster's books do to you in a series. Have you hanging on every storyline and anxiously waiting until the next one. Can I wait until April for Armie/Rissy? Sigh. I guess I'll have to. But it will be like a kid waiting for Christmas Day. :o)
Do yourself a HUGE favor and pick up this book, read this terrific story and join this amazing group of friends/"family". I'm so glad I did. Who am I kidding...after writing this I'm reminded of why I like this so much and am changing it to five stars!!

I enjoyed this book ! Tough Love is book #3 in Lori Foster's Ultimate Series.
It was easy to get swept into this entertaining MMA romance because of the vivid and likeable characters. Vanity was a vivacious heroine who demands the reader's attention. She wanted Stack and came up with a plan to snag him. The sexy fighter isn't ready to commit to a relationship so she convinces him that she's satisfied with a just sex, friends with benefits deal, all along hoping to win him over with her many charms. Her plan works and Stack realizes what a great gal she is, but then the situation gets complicated as more drama and conflict were thrown into the story.
This book was extremely well written. It had a solid plot and characters that were so easy to like. It definitely had a lot of heat. Tough Love was a sweet romance. It's a top shelf read that I can recommend.

I really like all of Lori Foster’s books and in this new MMA Series I think “Tough Love” is the best so far. The interaction between the fighters, the way they rib each other and banter, the way they back each other up, no questions asked… it’s great. This story of Stack “the Wolf” Hannigan and Vanity Baker is so much fun, through the ups and downs, the good and bad, Lori keeps it real and entertaining. Vanity and the other fighter’s wives/girlfriends are almost as tight as the guys and they meet regularly at the rec center for workout sessions where the MMA fighters train, and love to talk about them. Vanity has been driving Stack crazy for a while and at Cannon and Yvette’s wedding she is about to make a deal with him. She has no idea just how the deal is going to go, but it gets off to a wild start. Stack begins to realize that he doesn’t like the other guys hanging around Vanity and that creates all kinds of fun and games. If you have read the first few books of this series, don’t miss this one, it’s a great standalone book but an even better continuation of the series.

Action packed, sexy and funny, Tough Love is the best yet in the Ultimate Series! I have been reading Lori Foster's books for years and have never been disappointed, I highly recommend any of her books to anyone who hasn't read her yet. Vanity has been in love with Stack since she first laid eyes on him, he's ripped, sexy, funny and an all around sweet guy. In an effort to claim him as hers forever, Vanity devises a plan to snag and keep his attention; be her date for her best friends wedding and he won't have to worry about finding a hook up, she'd be his hook up for a night that'll burn the house down. Stack hasn't been able to focus on his MMA training ever since he agreed with Vanity's plan and after the wedding he wants nothing more than to forget that stupid agreement and go wherever this is taking them. When Stack gets attacked by thugs, it is discovered that someone wants Stack dead and Vanity might also be in danger. I love all of Lori Foster's books and this is one of my favorites in the series so far, I can't wait to read Armie and Merissa's story next (which will probably become my new favorite in the series ?)!

Stack and Vanity were even hotter than I expected especially after I wasn’t all that over the top in like of Denver & Cherry’s story.
It started with a proposition no man could resist. One night of unattached, no strings attached sex. But neither one knew just how good they’d be together. Vanity was fooling herself, hell so was Stack for that matter, to think one night would be enough to cool their attraction.
As usual Lori Foster doesn’t disappoint. I know when I read one of her books I’m going to get a great story. This one was no different. A hot, sexy MMA fighter and sexy, confident woman who goes after what she wants.
Stack and Vanity’s chemistry is red hot while their story will keep you wanting more. We get the connection between the main characters as well as the friendships they’ve found. I love the group of men and woman affiliated with the rec center. The bond they have for each other and the way they look after each other is how you want your friends to be.
This series makes you come back for more with each new book. I am really looking forward to the next book and more of Armie and Rissy.

Vanity Baker has wanted Stack Hannigan since she first met him and she has the perfect plan - one night with no obligations. Stack, not one for commitment, jumps at the chance. Though there are lots of delays to the start of the "big night", when it finally happens, sparks fly and both Vanity and Stack want more. In steps Stack's family with their own issues. Vanity finds herself involved in Stack's family turmoil, making decisions that could affect Stack's trust in her and possibly the safety of them both! Tough Love is the third in Lori Foster's Ultimate series. Every book in this series just gets better and better! It's hard to decide whose story I want to read next! I thought I couldn't wait for Armie and Rissy's story, but now I really want to see what happens with Leese. Each of the books in this series can be read as a stand alone but who would want to? Seriously, you might as well just go to her webpage and read all of her books. I've never read a Lori Foster book that I didn't absolutely love. As a bonus, Tough Love features a novella from Ms. Foster's Buckhorn series, another amazing series by Lori Foster.

Tough Love by Lori Foster is a 2015 HQN publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This third book in the Ultimate fighter series is focused on Vanity and Stack. If you read the previous installment you will remember Vanity made Stack an offer he couldn't refuse in order to get him to be her date for their friends, Cannon and Yvette, wedding.
Well, the time has come for Vanity to make good on the deal and hopefully she will win big on the gamble of a lifetime. Will the notorious commitment shy, Stack, gamble on the roulette wheel of love or will he cash in his chips once Vanity makes good on her promise?
Immediately, the author whips us up into a frenzy then slowly takes her foot off the petal leaving readers cooling their heels for awhile. But, the suspense was just getting started because it didn't take me long to figure out what Vanity had in mind for Stack. I was on pins and needles because it seemed like he fell into her web just a little to easily and was a bit too happy to have been ensnared. It was like watching a ticking time bomb and I wanted to cover my eyes before the thing detonated.
But, if that set up weren't enough, it seems Stack's family life is complicated and Vanity starts to become emotionally invested in their lives, befriending his mother and sister, to the point of making a grave error.
While Stack was the usual alpha male MMA fighter, and he was over the top macho, occasionally crossing over into being a borderline sexist, his character wasn't quite a bad as some of the guys preceding him in the series. He still has preconceived notions about women, still tries to control not only Vanity, but his mother and sister too, even though he has their best interest at heart and feels protective of the women in his life.
You have all encountered, in one way or another, a woman like Stack's sister, and while terribly frustrating for Stack, he does try to help her and keep her from making the same mistakes over and over, which is what family does, no matter how badly we wish we could get that person to wake up and smell the coffee. I thought this was a very thought provoking story line and hopefully one that made a difference for people on both sides of the spectrum.
Vanity has her own money, is free and independent, clever and goes for what she wants... which is Stack, but surprisingly she gets more than she bargained for by meeting Stack's family which by extension, became her own, especially in light of the fact she didn't have a family of her own, which gave this story an edge depth wise , over the last two books in the series.
Overall, this story was my favorite one in the series to date, and makes for a great lead in to the one we have all been breathlessly awaiting. Overall this one gets 4 stars

Containing hilarious c@ck-blocking, interrupted best laid plans, shady characters and a few overreactions, Tough Love has you rolling with the punches. I loved watching the feelings between Stack and Vanity grow while trying to unravel the potential danger that lurked around the corner. Don’t worry, lots of sex is also had. ;)
Vanity throws it all on the line to get at least one night with Stack – she’s been in love with him since pretty much the second that she saw him, but she’s willing to play the game and hook him slowly…especially since he’s made it pretty clear in the past that he’s only good for one night.
So Vanity makes The Plan: proposition Stack – check; engage in verbal foreplay for weeks – check; be so freaking awesome he’ll never want to leave – CHECK. When Stack’s family drama ratchets out of control, Vanity takes the lead. She’s calming, soothing, a bit quirky, but is mostly just awesome.
From the beginning it’s clear that Vanity isn’t like other women. She’s cool under pressure, she’s logical to a fault, and she’s incredibly giving and kind. She bulldozes her way into Stack’s life, leaving Stack shaking his head in wonder. The build of their relationship was sweet and pretty sexy.
Stack is a strong man, holding family (both biological and chosen) in the highest regard. When he’s in full on alpha mode, he’s adorable. He doesn’t know why he feels these things for Vanity all of a sudden – he just knows that he does. It’s pretty cute watching a big man go all mushy when he realizes he’s in love. GAH, I die every time.
Of course, he’s also sort of a possessive guy, and once he realizes that he wants much more out of Vanity than she’s claiming she’s offering (OH! The Plan is working!) he blatantly begins to mark his territory. Honestly, it was a little ridiculous that he was less than accepting that Vanity has *shhhhh* male friends, but no worries, Vanity quickly fixes that disillusionment. Because she’s awesome.
I am such a complete sucker for MMA fighter books, but you don’t get that much fighting (in the ring) or gym time in this book. Sadface. However, there is so much going on, that you won’t even remember that you’re not watching the sweat roll down their bodies while they spar in the cage. SORRY FOR THE MENTAL IMAGE (not really sorry).
As with all of Lori’s books, I absolutely enjoyed her writing style and characters. I was easily swept into the story, cheering for (or against) the characters, and smiling at the ending. An alpha male + a quirky and strong heroine had me loving this book immediately. The plot kept me on my toes and the heat kept me needing more. Great read! 4.25 stars!

I was looking forward to Vanity and Stack's story and I was not disappointed. This book hooks you from the beginning, starting off with a bang! The chemistry between them sizzles off the pages. I love that Vanity is an independent, strong, capable woman who takes care of herself and goes after what she wants, which is Stack. Yet she has a soft, loving and giving side. Stack is the ultimate alpha male that every woman dreams of. He is protective, honest and hard working.
I love how Lori writes scenes that happen in everyday life and that any reader can relate to. The interaction between the main characters and all the secondary characters is believable. And at times hilarious.
Loved the tease about Armie and Merissa. Can't wait for their book!
Can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the series from the beginning. Not only are they great, but the characters make appearances throughout the series.

I've enjoyed the books in Lori Foster's Ultimate series and while I liked Tough Love it wasn't my favorite even though I loved both the main characters. Fun and sexy I enjoyed the relationship part of this story very much but the rest of the plot seemed somewhat comical, overblown and frankly overdone which disappointed me.
In Holding Strong, Vanity propositioned Stack and promised him one hell of a night if he'd be her date to the wedding of Yvette and Cannon and Tough Love picks right up at that wedding. Vanity is one of those spunky and smart heroines that I adore; she's tough, she can take care of herself and she's not afraid to go after what she wants and that includes Stack the MMA fighter she's wanted since she laid eyes on him.
I loved that Vanity called Stack sweet at every turn because despite the fact that he's a big, strong fighter he is sweet and he's a good guy. I especially like that Stack admired everything about Vanity even when she sometimes insinuated herself in situations he didn't approve of or want her in the middle of including his crazy mixed up family. It was fun to see Stack fall for Vanity a little more every time they spent time together and while I loved these two together I found it a bit strange that even though Vanity barely knew Stack at the beginning of this book she went after him hoping to be with him long term.
I enjoyed how involved the other fighters and their significant others were in this book and found Stack's mother and sister to be amusing and entertaining. It was heartwarming the way everyone accepted Vanity into their circle and gave her the family she never really had. Stack's swarmy brother in law and his ex-girlfriend were kind of over the top "bad guys" and the whole suspense angle of this story felt quite flat and gave me many eye rolling moments and I found myself wishing that part of the story had been left out because it tainted what was a really nice romance with its ridiculousness.
While not my favorite in this series, I did enjoy parts of Tough Love; this couple is one of my favorites in this series and I am very much looking forward to the next book.

The Ultimate series of Lori Foster’s is one of my favourites! I’ve read each book from this series so far and have loved every one. Big macho, alpha-male fighters, falling in love with strong, independent girls! Throw in a little suspense and a few sizzling scenes, what more could I ask for?
Stack and Vanity have had an attraction for some time, so Vanity decided to convince Stack to go with her to Cannon and Yvette’s wedding in exchange for a night of passion. I could see that they both had deeper feelings for one another, and the more time they spent together, the harder it was for them to be apart. Stack introduced Vanity to his Mother and sister Tabby, and he could see how much his family liked her.
There were a few hiccups and threats along the way, and I liked how independent Vanity was, she didn’t expect Stack to save her at every turn, instead she accomplished things for herself. Stack was the typical possessive male, trying to run off his friends if they looked at Vanity, but he was glad that they had his back.
Tough Love was another great read in the series, and despite a bit of miscommunication, it was good to see their relationship grow. I enjoyed the alternating perspectives between Stack and Vanity, as well as a few other characters that will get their own books soon. I like the way that Lori creates her worlds; Vanity and Stack are both good people and are willing to stand up for themselves if they feel threatened. They both have a great group of friends that will drop anything to be at their sides when needed. The suspense in this book wasn’t as dramatic as previous books, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I am eager to get my hands on Armie and Merissa’s book… I can see some interesting pasts being revealed there!

Started out laighing and ended up swooning. I love sports romances and this one tops the list. I love how Vanity schemes to have Stack fall in love with her by wanting more than the casual hook-up. It starts with the wedding date proposal and gets more involved (and poor Stack more frustrated) as the evening progresses. One more roadblock and I think he would've been done in, lol. I enjoyed all of the other fighters and wives/ girls, but I especially loved his mother and Tabby (and don't forget f---ing Phil!). Stack has such a good heart. I love that Vanity doesn't "need" things, but she does at the same time. She is very realistic and her vulnerability with inner strength goes a long way in her character. Gotta love the bat signal. I like the portrayal of family that includes all close, not just blood-relatives. I treasured the importance of honesty with Stack and more than looks being important to Vanity. The love in this book is so true it is almost palpable.

Tough Love is the third book in the Ultimate series but can totally be read as a stand-alone.
Tough Love was a quick and easy read for me. I love a good MMA story, so when you throw in the promise of a good alpha male, I can’t resist picking it up. The synopsis is what really drew me into this story. It intrigued me, pulling together not only my love for MMA stories, but also adding in a friends with benefits plot; I knew I had to check it out.
I was captivated by Vanity and Stack from the moment I was introduced to them. The two of them had excellent chemistry. It just oozed off the pages. You knew when the two of them finally hooked up, that it would be explosive. And let me tell you, they did not disappoint.
Vanity was a very interesting character. She was super independent and had a good head on her shoulders. The only thing missing in her life was love. I was intrigued by how she interjected herself into Stack’s life and how many different ways she tried to hook up with him…Stack was very entertaining to watch. He was a total alpha male with a bad case of jealousy. That being said, he had a really sweet side that was just begging to come out. I really loved how the both of them said they wanted a friends with benefits relationship, but they both really wanted more.
Overall, I thought this was an ok read. My only complaint was the pacing of the story. It started off really strong, pulling me into the story. But, then when I got to the middle, it started to slow down. For me, pacing is a big deal. When it’s too slow, I start to get sidetracked and loose interest. However, with this book, I am happy that I stuck with it. The pacing did pick back up and I found the rest of the story to be very enjoyable.

The third book in Lori Foster’s Ultimate Fighter series. No need to worry you can’t follow, if you missed the other books. It works as a stand alone.
In this novel we get the story of Vanity who makes MMA fighter, Stack, an offer he couldn't refuse in order to get him to be her wedding date. Of course, the offer is guaranteed bedroom activity. But much gets in the way of these two making good on Vanity’s offer. There are moments of heartbreak, betrayal, highs and lows. This author is such a master at characters. The two are certainly a hot couple. Whew.
However, there are so many external threats all over the place in this novel that the book sometimes lost a bit of direction while I was reading. It moves quickly to the end, but there didn’t feel like complete resolution of the issues, making me wonder if I must wait for the next book.
Overall, a good read. If you love this author’s work, grab it now.

Vanity has wanted Stack since she met him, so she puts a plan into action capture the attentions of the sexy MMA fighter. Vanity made a bargain with Stack to be her date to Cannon and Yvette's wedding for a night of hot sex, with the hope that one night will show Stack how great they could be together.
This is were Tough Love starts... Stack has been primed for this night for WEEKS and now the night is finally here where he can get his hands all over the sexy Vanity. Their night has a few glitches along the way with car-wrecks and family drama intervening, so their big post-wedding plans don't go exactly go as well as they hoped. However, once they are able to complete their "plans", they are explosive together, and Stack knows that one night won't be enough.
Between continuing family drama and ex-girlfriends, Stack and Vanity must learn to trust each other and in their feelings for each other. Tough Love delivers a PERFECT summer read with everything a Lori Foster fan could want!!
**Also, this book makes me really, really excited for Armie and Merissa's book, Fighting Dirty.

This book is the third installment in the Ultimate series. Though I was unfamiliar with the author and had not read the first two books, I thought the description on Net Galley sounded interesting and was excited when they granted me an ARC for review. In my opinion, the book was even better than the description led me to believe.
This series is focused around a group of fighters. Stack is one of the more unapproachable. That doesn't stop Vanity from wanting him or coming up with a plan to have him. She propositions Stack for a friends with benefits type relationship in hopes it will lead to more if he doesn't feel the typical relationship pressure. What she doesn't know is that Stack already had an interest in her. She thinks he only wants her for sex and is surprised when he sticks around even when their first "encounter" is delayed. Vanity even ends up inadvertently pulled into some of Stack's family drama. Not having a family of her own, Vanity does everything she can to hang on to the tenuous family connection by helping in the only way she knows how. Unfortunately Stack doesn't view her actions as help. When the family drama results in danger for both Vanity and Stack, Stack steps up despite his frustration with Vanity.
I loved the characters in this story so much that I have gone back and read the first couple books. I'm ready for the next one!

I was left wanting Stack and Vanity's story from the moment she propositioned him in Holding Strong, and I loved the way it starts off with them at Cannon and Yvette's wedding - the night they have both been waiting to finally be together. There is plenty of chemistry between them, and it quickly turns into deep feelings for both of them. Vanity is more than Stack expected and the more he gets to know her, the harder he falls for her. Unfortunately, Vanity keeps a secret from him that threatens to ruin everything, until Stack's past threatens both their lives. I was hooked from beginning to end! The circle of friends are great and are more like a family. I've enjoyed this series so far and can't wait for Armie and Merissa's story!

This is the third book in the Ultimate series, all about MMA fighters and the women in their lives. This one pairs up Stack and Vanity, secondary characters from the previous books, in particular from Holding Strong where it was obvious that they were attracted to each other and just waiting for the timing to be right. Well, it's right now, and there is nothing holding them back as Stack escorts Vanity to their friend's wedding and is happy to take her home afterwards. Naturally things never run that smoothly, and there are some different events that take place that keep putting kinks in their plans (and not the good kind) but we do get some steamy love scenes between them and a heartfelt romance. I liked the pacing of this book, the easy communication between Stack and Vanity and even though there are some conflicts between them, they are easily solved. Stack's family plays a big role in the story, and I enjoyed seeing Vanity befriend them and how important they became in each other's lives. Naturally we get lots of scenes with their friends on the MMA circuit and their partners, so some good girl talk too. There isn't much in the way of actual fighting scenes, it's more just a background to their relationship. I thought it was a great addition to the series, and as is usually the case, there is a great lead in to some future stories as well. 4 stars.
The ebook version of this title also included a previously released novella, Back to Buckhorn, which as the title implies, is another story of a wayward ex-Buckhorn resident who makes her way home. In this case, it is Zoey, a woman who had the misfortune of being involved with a young man who died in a tragic car accident, and who was blamed by that man's family for his death. She left town when the scandal threatened to overwhelm her, but it's been seven years, and she's coming back to help her ailing mother, hoping that what happened in the past will stay in the past. It's just her luck that Garrett is at the airport to pick her up - her one time crush, seeing her now after a harrowing flight involving a very sick toddler who cast up his accounts, all over her! Just the kind of impression she'd hoped would never happen, and certainly not in front of Garrett! But Garrett has always had a thing for Zoey and she cleans up good, as evidenced by his immediate impression (post shower) that she's just the woman for him. This story combines dealing with the past tragedy that exiled Zoey in the first place with the sweet and sexy romance between Garrett and Zoey. I loved seeing all the original Buckhorn story characters (Morgan is Garrett's father so we get some fun scenes with him) and it's made me want to go back and reread all those first stories that drew me to Lori Foster's writing. 4 sweet and sexy stars.

Lori Foster has been one of my favorite contemporary romance writers for years now. Whenever she writes a new book, I am typically quick to read it because I know I will enjoy it. This year I got behind and never picked up Tough Love because when it first came out, I wasn’t reading much adult romance. When I learned my library had the book, I quickly snatched it up. I have anticipated Vanity and Stack’s book for a long time and as always, Foster did not disappoint.
Vanity Baker is an independently wealthy, California girl who moved to Ohio when her BFF Yvette moved back to town. Vanity is the type of person who knows how it feels to be truly lonely, so she never takes her friends for granted. Ever since moving to Ohio, she finally has a family she loves filled with friends that would do anything for her. After learning more about her, my heart just squeezed for her. Though she does come off as a tad manipulative in Tough Love, I couldn’t find it in me to hate her for it. She has the best intentions and though they are misguided I couldn’t fault her for not wanting to scare Stack away.
Stack aka “The Wolf” is another yummy fighter with a chip on his shoulder. I loved him like I love the other MMA fighters, but I could never really understand why he was so ashamed of his family. I understand why he hates F’ing Phil, and sure his sister has issues (though she does grow in Tough Love, woot woot!) I didn’t see a true reason he keeps them so hidden. All family can be embarrassing at some point and his wasn’t even that bad (except for F’ing Phil, of course).
Tough Love is another delicious romance in the Ultimate series that fans of Lori Foster should not miss out on! I really enjoyed it, but I am biting my nails for Armie’s story! *hint hint* ?

This book start off at the wedding of Yvette and Cannon.
Vanity is a girl who know exactly what she wants and is not afraid to take measures necessary to get it. She is a strong, honest and caring woman who is very self sufficient. When given the chance she steps in to help other where needed.
Stack is a strong headed champion fighter who has been a little wary of commitment. He is not a stranger to love and affection as his parents were always open. He longs for that kind of connection with the right woman. Could Vanity be that woman? Is he willing to take a chance.
This was a good book about relationship communication and honest love. Lori does a great job of keeping all the secondary characters involved in each book. I look forward to reading Armie's story next.

If you haven't read the previous books in this series we start off at Cannon and Yvette's wedding which is right where we want to be since that's where Vanity and Stack's bargain comes into play. In the previous book Vanity asks Stack to the wedding and essentially makes a deal to sleep with him if he'll be her date with no strings attached. Since there has been a TON of sexual chemistry between them Stack readily agrees and can think of nothing else leading up to the day of the wedding. When the wedding comes to an end Vanity and Stack think they are finally going to be able to get down to business but alas fate has other plans. This little blip turns out to be a great development for both Stack and Vanity because we see a little bit more of each of their personalities and how they stop what they are doing to help those in need, whether they are strangers or family. Of course, what's a Lori Foster book without steamy scenes and some thrills too! Mrs. Foster delivers as she always does. I must say this is my favorite so far of all the books in this series but I have a feeling the next, which is Armie's, will take the lead soon. Highly recommend!

Tough Love is the third installment of her Ultimate Series. This series follows the lives of several fighters in the SBC, a fictional ultimate fighting company. This installment tells the story of Stack and Vanity. I have enjoyed both characters since meeting them in prior books. Stack has wanted Vanity since meeting her and the same goes for Vanity. Through a series of unforeseen incidents, it takes a little bit for them to hookup, but when they do, they steam the pages. The real story lies within how both of them come to realize they truly love one another. Vanity completely captures Stack with her response to what he considers his crazy family including his sister’s beloved dogs. Stack wins Vanity by showing her his love for his mother, his sister, in spite of the obstacles, among other things. There is also a little suspense added in with someone hiring people to hurt Stack and Vanity steps into the situation in her own way to help.
Although I don’t consider this to be the strongest book in this series (that still goes to No Limits, the first book in this series), this is a nice addition. I ended up really liking both Stack and Vanity. This book also sets up the next story nicely. I think everyone is really looking forward to Armie and Rissy’s story and we got a little peek of them here. All in all, a solid entry in the Ultimate Series. It is not necessary to read the books in order, however, I do think suggest it so you can see the introduction of the characters and the lead up to their story.

Another great installment to the Ultimate series! I love reading about alpha males, especially when there is a great heroine to keep the hero on his toes.
This story was about a fighter named Stack and Vanity, a well-off young lady who doesn’t have to work but models and paints and works in Yvette’s store and … you get my drift (you may have met her if you have read the other Ultimate novels). Vanity wants a relationship with Stack, but she is determined not to let him know that. So she presents him with a deal: if Stack would attend their friend’s wedding with her, then he gets a guaranteed night with Vanity. I won’t tell you what he decides, but he is not stupid.
Foster has taken this romance and thrown in just enough suspense to keep you guessing until the very end of the book. I loved reading about Stack’s family and how Vanity reacts to them! Not only do you have a great story between Stack and Vanity, but I love seeing all the other fighters and how they have formed their own type of family. I can’t wait to see the next fighters meet their matches!

Vanity Baker has wanted Stack Hannigan ever since she first laid eyes on him, but given his well-known issues with commitment, she decided to take a different approach to capturing his attention…playing hard to get. It works well for her, until outside events push in and complicate matters.
Folks, I loved this book! Stack Hannigan is everything I hoped he would be and more, and the sexual tension between Stack and Vanity is so much fun. I loved the development of their romance. It felt real and honest. That’s just one among many things Lori Foster is a master at in her books, and one of a million reasons why she is and will remain an auto-buy author for me.
Tough Love is an excellent romance read. Vanity and Stack are funny, playful, and sexy as hell together. I loved their scenes so much. The chemistry between them is realistic and believable. They spark whenever they’re together, and that spark leads to some fantastic love scenes, which, if you’re familiar with Lori Foster’s previous works, you’ll known isn’t a surprise. This author writes hot love scenes between characters who always have some really incredible chemistry and real-to-life wants, dreams, fears, and flaws. But more than that, she writes with depth, precision, and heart. Her characters live and breathe on the page. I love it!
I also love that Stack and Vanity make mistakes and are forced to learn from them. I love that Stack and the other men, Gage (Hard Knocks, 08/’14), Cannon (No Limits, 08/’14), Denver (Holding Strong, 03/’14), Armie (Fighting Dirty, 02/’16) are men who act like real men, real fighters on a team, and that each of their heroines are real woman, with real issues and desires and dreams and humor and passion. And I love that Vanity isn’t afraid to go after what she wants, even playing a little dirty if she has to get it, which in this case, what she wants most is Stack. She’s smart and capable and willing to take a risk, which just proves how right she is for Stack, and he for her. I seriously loved them together, their humor, their heat, and their journey to love. So, so good.
If you love your romance fun and sexy with a little bit of an edge, Tough Love is a fantastic read that will have you falling in love with Stack and damn near salivating while waiting for the next book in the Ultimate series.
Overall Impression: Impeccable writing with fascinating and magnetic characters who command the page and pull you into their story, making you fall in love on every page. Highly, highly recommend this read.

I have been a huge fan of Lori Fosters books for years and this newest addition to the Ultimate Fighters definitely does not disappoint! The story picks up where Holding Strong leaves off, with Yvette and Stack ready to make good on a deal they made. As each others dates to the big wedding, they have a lot of plans for what the night holds, but nothing seems to go as planned. When Stacks family comes back into his life, things get interesting as he and Yvette grow closer. This book is very hot and steamy, its perfect for a quick summer read at the beach or while relaxing poolside. If you are fan of romance with a lot of great twists and turns and a happily ever after, this book should be at the top of your reading list!
I received an ARC of this book for my honest review, all opinions are my own. I really did love this book!

I've been waiting for the release of Tough Love since I finished Holding Strong and just let me say, I was not prepared to be blown away by Stack's character. Cannon was the perfect alpha male in No Limits and Denver was a it overbearing at times in Holding Strong, but Stack was "perfect" in Tough Love at somewhere in between. It just takes Vanity a little while to figure that out and to figure out she doesn't always need to be in control. The book is so intriguing, that I've gone back and read different parts a few times and I've read the book in it's entirety twice!
I have been a fan of Lori Foster for a long time and have looked forward to the release of each book in the Ultimate series with the thought that Armie would be my favorite. Now, after reading Stack and Vanity's story, I'm not so sure. Although, Armie's confrontation with with Rissy at the Bar nearly had me in tears! I love the interaction of all characters and how they bond and become family and share one another's joys and burdens.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review and was happy to oblige!

I loved this book & could not put it down!
I loved being back in the MMA world with Stack & Vanity. We learn what has helped mold them into the individuals they are & learn why they are perfect for each other. I loved seeing Vanity helping Stack with his family as well as watching her interact with the others in their MMA group. This book started at Cannon & Yvette's wedding & it just kept getting better & better. They are a perfect match in every way.
I loved seeing other characters like Reese, Rowdy as well as the other fighters Cannon (& Yvette), Denver (& Cherry), Leese, Miles, Brand, and of course Armie (we see glimpses of his inner battle with Merissa).
Each book in this series gets better & better & I am so ready to read Armie & Merissa's story.

Another great story from Lori Foster. In this story, we get Vanity and Stack. Vanity has wanted Stack since she first set eyes on him. Stack has been avoiding relationships since being burned by the last one.
With her friend Yvette's wedding coming up Vanity is in need of a date and propositions Stack with a promise of no strings sex at the end of the night. She is hoping this will lead to more. Stack agrees and between then and the wedding has had nothing but Vanity in bed on the brain.
We see these characters struggle with family, money and trust issues and come out on top. It is a wonderful tale with interesting characters and a twist even this gluttonous romance reader didn't see coming. So excited for the next installment.

Tough Love is another great story in Ms. Foster’s MMA fighter series. Stack and Vanity have had their eye on each other for months, but where Stack is typically a commitment – averse kind of guy, Vanity is looking for forever. Knowing that will freak him out and send him running in the opposite direction as fast as his feet will take him, Vanity pretends she is only looking for one night in the hopes that he will be hooked and come around to wanting more in his own time.
I know that sounds desperate, yet it didn’t really come across that way as I was reading, probably because we met Vanity in previous books in the series and she is not a fighter groupie looking to get her claws into the man because of his occupation. Instead she has gotten to know a little about him as part of their group of friends, and she admires the person inside as much as the gorgeous external package. Having lost her whole family to a tragic accident years before, Vanity is alone in the world and wants a connection with someone she can call her own.
Stack grew up in a loving family, but after his father’s death the dynamic changed and recently he became estranged from his mother and sister as a result of an event that plays a big part in this story. He isn’t against a long term relationship but no one has stirred his interest enough to give it real consideration until Vanity Baker comes along and rocks his world. Her heart and personality are as beautiful to him as her appearance and he is a goner before he realizes it.
Stack points out strongly that he hates lies, so what does Vanity do? Why she keeps secrets from him of course! Even lies of omission with the best of intentions are bound to rile him but she knowingly marches down that path as suspicious circumstances begin to pop up in their lives. As always the guys have each others’ backs and the ladies take care of their own too, so things don’t have a chance to go too far astray.
Tough Love had its frustrating moments for me but it is probably my favorite book in the series so far. The story kicks off with Cannon and Yvette’s wedding, so Stack and Vanity are already primed and ready to finally close the deal. For that reason, I do recommend reading the prior stories first but it is not a necessity. Armie’s story is up next, and that is the one I have really been waiting for! He has a past that haunts him for an unknown reason that I am curious about, and although he fights it, he has some combustible chemistry with Cannon’s sister Merissa. I do love a damaged reformed bad boy and Armie definitely seems to fit the bill- now I just need to wait to see if perception is reality in his case!

As a recap, The Ultimate Series by Lori Foster is a brilliant compilation of a group of friends, protecting their neighborhood, engaging young kids to keep them out of trouble, creating a haven for troubled teenagers, and throwing muscle in the ring when called upon…and their stories, tryst with destiny continues as Stack Hannigan finds himself surrendering to the love of his life Vanity Baker.
Vanity has made a deal with “The Wolf” to a one night of passion between the sheets, a casual no strings friends with benefits fling, even as she knows for a fact that one night with Stack is just not enough for her. Stack has been tip toeing around Vanity since times long and he knows for a fact that sex with her would be out of this world, but little does he realize that he has now world without her.
A young woman having lost all in her life, trying to make a new life with a group of overprotective friends, facing loneliness with a zeal for life and yet grabbing the grateful moments with all positivity, Vanity Baker is just one of the most lovable people you would encounter. She makes tough love fun, attainable and utterly delicious and she just gives that much and more back to Stack. And Stack with his tainted past, yet honorable upbringing, protective and humble, is just the perfect match for Vanity, despite his temporary bullheadedness!
Since the time I’ve been reading Lori Foster, her innumerable and memorable books, I truly believe that Stack and Vanity are her best of the lot, at least in my humble readings! The teasing banter, the ease Vanity has with making friends, smart and loyal to the bone, kind and generous, Lori took time creating Vanity with care and depth. She made a great impression with giving writing space for Stack’s family and the building of the relationship between them and Vanity. I was so partial to Cannon’s story, but Stack comes a very close second.
Witty dialogues and teasing banter, trust and friendship on the line, romance and lust burning hearts, “Tough Love” sure tests the emotions and power of love…. and gives the readers an unforgettable love story.

Welcome to the world of mixed martial arts fighting, where the guy play hard & love harder. Foster develops the plot of her tale intricately & intimately, taking readers for one heck of a ride. I loved the variety of different aspects of life, love & loss that Foster brings into play. Suspense & chemistry, danger & raw lust kept me glued to the pages.
I love the way that Foster develops her characters. It feels so personal, like we’re truly being introduced. The main characters’ viewpoints are so apparent throughout. I love how Foster gives us each of their points of view without breaking the story into ‘his’ and ‘hers’ sections. I got a kick out of Vanity & Stack’s relationship. They were so much fun. They truly complemented and contrasted with each other perfectly.
Once again Foster has created a one of a kind novel that brings real life to play in unforgettable ways. It’s a story that I’d recommend to any who enjoy a great story.

I haven't read a book by Ms. Foster that I did not like. Some I may love more than others but I am never left disappointed. Tough Love is probably going to be one of my faves. Stack and Vanity are the perfect couple. I absolutely loved them! The writing was so incredible that I actually felt the sexual tension going on between Stack and Vanity like it was a palpable thing in my living room. I also felt the disgust and hate for the bad guys in the story as well. Love how there was an element of intrigue to make this book so unputdownable. I was so frustrated when I had to stop reading to do things like eat and bathe. It took me longer to finish this book than I would have liked but now that I'm done I feel like I finished it too quickly. I feel like I need to reread it again just so I can be a part of their world again. I'm sorry everyone else has to wait until August to enjoy this book but enjoy it you definitely will. Can't wait for Armie's book next. Been waiting for him since book one!

Vanity wants Stack, but she knows better than to go about getting him in the conventional way. Dating and relationships aren’t really his thing, and the last thing she wants is to become another notch in his bedpost — or scare him off for good. So rather than simply make herself available to him, she plays unavailable, letting him think that a romp in the sheets is all she’s after. And if she plays her cards right, he’ll keep coming back for more.
The Verdict: At this point, all it takes to make me pick up a book is Lori Foster’s name on the cover, but if you follow my reviews, you probably already know that. The guys in the Ultimate series are all kinds of hot, and Stack’s been a fun one to follow in the previous books.
Vanity has her sights set on Stack, but the tough fighter tends to turn tail and run at the first sign that a woman wants more than a one-night stand with him. But if she doesn’t do something, he’ll never consider anything more than flirty friendship with her, so she offers him exactly what he thinks he wants — sex. And nothing more. At the end of the last book, she put her plan into play, getting Stack to agree to be her date to the wedding, with a guarantee that they can turn up the heat afterward. And thinking Vanity’s not after more than one night of naked fun, Stack falls right into her trap.
The chemistry between Stack and Vanity burns up the pages, so the story gets off to a fast but awesome start. As they get to know each other better, Vanity’s feelings simply grow deeper, and Stack starts feeling emotions he never expected. But it also comes to light just how much Stack values honesty in people, and Vanity hasn’t exactly been honest about her intentions. I won’t give it away, but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what their conflict becomes.
Lori Foster has done it again, creating strong, likable women and the irresistible men they fall in love with. Every single page has substance, too, bringing Stack and Vanity closer together rather than relying on contrived drama to speed things up. If you haven’t checked out this series yet, do it NOW. The Ultimate series is the ultimate romance readers’ story, and the hot, strong men are the icing on the cake.

I am a huge fan of this series and of Lori Foster so I was anxiously waiting for the next book. I was not disappointed. Lori Foster has delivered another amazing extension in the series that brings strong and confident men and women together and adds in sizzle and sweetness. I love the dialogue and the relationships between all of the characters; it's my favorite part. The lead characters are Stack and Vanity. Vanity has been an interesting and dynamic character since we met her in Cannon and Yvette's book. I love her "go for it" attitude. Stack has also been a favorite of mine, although I say that about all of them! :) The anticipation for this hook up has been building and while it went down with unexpected twists and turns it was everything I hoped for.
This book had romance and drama but was very straight forward and realistic as are all her books which I appreciate. The main characters are not bouncing around from person to person and even when there is a serious fight it isn't the end of the world. It is so realistic in that the characters go face challenges and issues and they work through it. The female characters are strong and none of her characters believe in cliches. They know what they want and they go for it. Stack is a perfect mix of a believable and realistic Alpha and a normal unsure male in a relationship.
That being said, I wanted more Armie and Rissy!!!. If your a fan of the series you feel me! Of course, this isn't their book so you just have to wait but you will not be disappointed. I just can't wait for their book and this book does have some good Armie-Rissy moments :)
I also hope to hear more about Stacks sister. Hopefully a romance can be sparked in the next book or future books. Foster is great at connecting stories and characters. Which is why you should check out her other series and connect back to these characters. It's a family!!
This book can be read alone, but the whole series is so amazing and adds to the enjoyment in the love and affection for the other characters. If you haven't read the rest of the series, what are you waiting for???

3.5 stars--TOUGH LOVE is the third installment in Lori Foster’s adult, contemporary MMA Ultimate erotic romance series. This is model/artist Vanity Baker, and MMA fighter Stack “The Wolf” Hannigan’s storyline. TOUGH LOVE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous storylines is imparted where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives TOUGH LOVE follows the building relationship between Vanity and Stack. Vanity invited Stack to be her plus one for Cannon and Yvette’s (No Limits #1) wedding with the promise of something more at the end of the night. What ensues is a series of interruptions including a car accident involving a drunk driver; the introduction of Vanity to Stack’s mother and long suffering sister; and several assaults and attempted robberies disguised as a means to distract Stack from the woman who calls to his heart.
Like many of the series’ heroines Vanity is a rabid fan of the MMA and one man in particular- Stack Hannigan. For months Vanity’s attempts to flirt and seduce Stack have gone unnoticed or ignored until a promise of one night of $ex if Stack accompanies Vanity to their friend’s nuptial’s. Unbeknownst to Vanity, Stack has been attracted to our storyline heroine for as long as he can remember but when his past comes back hoping to reconnect, Vanity’s safety will be his number one concern. The relationship between Stack and Vanity begins as friends to an arrangement for a potential friends with benefits option but quickly escalates into something more. The $ex scenes are provocative and hot.
TOUGH LOVE also looks at dysfunctional family values; love, betrayal, heartbreak and distrust. Stack’s sister has found her herself in a difficult situation with a husband whose own life is spiraling out of control; and his mother has a difficult time saying no to her only daughter. Years before, Vanity’s family were all lost in a horrific accident; our heroine is the sole heir and with it came financial freedom and the ability to financially help whoever she can. But Vanity isn’t one to sit back and enjoy the money; she works three jobs to keep herself busy-never once asking anyone for assistance or help. It is Vanity’s attempts to help Stack’s extended family that find our heroine in deeper trouble than she could have imagined. Vanity tends to be a little naïve when it comes to trust and money; she has a habit of revealing too much information at the wrong place and the wrong time.
Lori Foster’s ULTIMATE MMA series has a large ensemble cast of characters. All of the previous storyline couples and characters play a secondary and supporting role throughout the story. The mysterious and reclusive MMA fighter Armie Jacboson may or may not have feelings for Cannon’s younger sister Merissa; and Vanity’s best friend and personal guardian Leese-another MMA fighter who has yet to come into his prime- knows that Vanity is off limits when Stack stakes a claim in front of their friends and fellow fighters.
The world building continues to focus on the fighters of the MMA and the women whom they love. The fighting is secondary to the storyline premise; in fact, there are no professional fight sequences or bouts anywhere within the TOUGH LOVE storyline-we do get a glimpse into a self defense class aimed at keeping everyone safe. All of Lori’s heroes are alpha male; dominant and over protective. Staking a claim is part of their DNA and personality.
My only concern was the ‘conflict’ and ‘tension’ woven into the storyline, and throughout Vanity and Stack’s relationship. There were so many threats from different directions that I couldn’t help but wonder if the author had a difficult time with the ‘who and why’. In the end, everything was a blur yet I felt nothing was completely resolved.
TOUGH LOVE is an entertaining storyline. There are moments of heartbreak and betrayal; tenderness and devotion; falling in love and letting go. The premise had a little bit of mystery and suspense; the characters are colorful and spirited; the romance is impassioned and intense. TOUGH LOVE sees another MMA fighter finding love with the woman who stole his heart.

BOOK SYNOPSIS
She's playing hard to get… to win the MMA fighter of her ultimate fantasies in a sultry new novel from New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster…
Vanity Baker loves a good, clean match, but she's not above playing a little dirty. She's wanted Stack "The Wolf" Hannigan from day one. Seems as though the best way to corral the famously commitment-phobic fighter is to insist on keeping it casual. And her plan works—deliciously well—until Stack's past steps out of the shadows.
Stack learned early to stay free of attachments. But with sexy, forthright Vanity, he's the one always left wanting more. Then his troublemaking family comes back into the picture, threatening everything Stack cares about—Vanity included. Suddenly he realizes they're much more than friends with benefits. He's ready to go to the mat for her…but will it be in time to protect the woman who's tamed him for good?
My Thoughts
This starts out with Stack, Vanity and the rest of the MMA group attending Cannon and Yvettes wedding. The night is filled with tension due to a promise made months ago when Vanity asked Stack to be her escort in exchange for a night of hot sex.
As the wedding party draws to a close so does the couples patience for waiting and it makes for some very heated scenes when they are finally alone. Problems arise when Stack’s sister calls one of the other fighters who then calls on their emergency phone to inform him that his mother has been hospitalized and his sister is panicking.
Having gone to her house with Stack, Vanity quickly dresses in comfortable clothes to go with him. Once at the hospital luckily they find that although his mother does have walking pneumonia she is otherwise okay.
This is where the story takes off with loads of family drama rather than any actual MMA competitions, although there are plenty of training scenes at the gym where we are treated to descriptive word pictures of some seriously in shape guys.
This one was different in the fact that it really built around certain issues that had long been a sore point between Stack, his Mother and his Sister all of which were caused by his no-good Brother-In-Law.
One truly found the cast of characters starting with f-ing Phil to be quite sleazy, the older sister Tabby a complete mess, mother Lynn endearingly sweet and as stated in the book blurb trouble with a capital T.
However Vanity finds herself charmed, a new friend in Tabby, a mother figure in Lynn and nothing but disgust for Phil.
In the meantime Stack and Vanity grow closer, just as she hoped from the moment she laid eyes on him. Of course as usual a lack of communication almost sidelines the relationship before it truly becomes solid, at least that is what Vanity thinks.
In the end though the person who caused the trouble is identified and the happy ending we hope for takes place for Stack and Vanity. Even Tabby finds her self esteem and the backbone to finally realize she deserves better than a husband who does not try to pull his weight but would rather work her to death to support his drug addiction and other destructive habits.
These stories hit every emotional button every time and this was no exception. I totally enjoyed and cheered the way in which Stack and Vanity built their relationship over the course of this book. The interaction in the scenes with the other MMA fighters was not bad either, as a matter of fact it gave more insight into several of them that had not really been touched on yet in the previous books.
Looking forward to more in the series and if you have not read these books yet what are you waiting for?

Vanity has had her eye on Stack ever since she met him but with a reputation for avoiding commitment, she decides a little subterfuge is needed. She invites him to be her date to a wedding, with the promise of things ending in the bedroom but the caveat is that they aren't going to do anything until then and they can still see other people. This doesn't stop Vanity from teasing Stack to distraction, though. When their big night comes, fate intervenes with problematic issue over problematic issue. Vanity is a caring person and wants to help Stack but also give him his space while Stack is developing real feelings for Vanity but isn't sure right now is the time to let her in. Life is crazy but is giving each other a chance, just as crazy?
Third in the Ultimate series, Tough Love, focuses on Vanity (Yvette from No Limits' friend) and Stack. In the previous book, Holding Strong, Vanity made the deal with Stack for being her date at Yvette and Cannon's wedding but we start off here the night of the wedding and really the beginning of their story; don't worry if you haven't read the previous books. Vanity and Stack are already hot for each other, due to Vanity's teasing for weeks but with a night filled with car accidents and emergency room visits, there is a lot of starting and stopping for our couple. The beginning was a mixture of comical sexual vexation, heat, and frustration for me as the reader as it became a little too overdone in regards to instances keeping our couple apart.
Vanity was a bit of an uneven character for me. She lost all her family members in a plane crash so was supposedly afraid to put her heart out there but I never saw that. From the beginning she seems to love Stack and making plans to lure him in, she doesn't want him to feel pressured or smothered but constantly integrates herself into his family's issues. She also had a few Mother Teresa moments with "I have all this money and just want to help!" and buying into Stack's brother-in-law's lies. Stack was cardboard alpha for a lot of the book. He supposedly hangs around his MMA brothers because they are all that are good in the world and he trusts no one like he does these guys but it is repeatedly a problem when Vanity hangs around the guys because it makes him growly jealous that they might be hitting on her. Does he think these are good guys or not, can he trust them or not?
I liked these two together but with the unnecessary drama with Stack's ex-girlfriend and the three ring circus surrounding the who and why of the hired men to beat, no wait kill!, Stack, we don't get to see them together a whole lot. The ending with the Big Misunderstanding knocked a star off the rating for me also. Stack was extremely rude to Vanity, blew something way out of proportion, and then was dummy dumbfounded when she thought he broke up with her. The whole instance made Stack look extremely stupid, not a good look for a hero.
If you have been following along with this series, you'll know that all the stories feature overly good, angels on earth people and is probably why I'm chomping at the bit to get Armie's story. He has been popping in and out of all the books and while he is a good person, he seems to have some jagged edges to him. Here we got to see him break a bit in regards to owning up to wanting Merissa, Cannon's sister. Armie's book is next and I can't wait.

This is the third book in Lori Foster’s Ultimate books. Although this book can be a read as a stand-alone, you would definitely appreciate it better if you have read, at least, the previous book, “Holding Strong.”. In that book, we see Vanity, our heroine in this story, attempt to get the attention of Stack, our hero, who is continually pushing her away from him That book ends when Vanity tricks Stack into a date by making a deal with him. This book starts with both Vanity and Stack anticipating the date they had planned.
Lori Foster’s men in this series are all strong, macho men who take advantage of the women who lust after them.. However, when they finally fall in love, they are possessive, jealous and overprotective of their women. They are also gentle and loving.
Her heroines are all independent women who don’t “need” a man to survive. Vanity is a busy woman who is involved in an artist, a model and helps her friend when needed. She is also a generous, kind and loving person who is loyal to her friends.
Even though Stack and Vanity see each other every day, Stack realizes that he knows nothing about Vanity. I love that Stack is learning about Vanity’s background and personality at the exact same time that the readers are. I could actually watch Stack slowly falling in love with Vanity as he realizes what kind of person she is.
I would highly recommend this book. The story has everything. There is adventure’ suspense, romance. There was even humor.. Stack’s mother, sister and their dogs are hilarious.
Warning: There is graphic, hot sex in this book. If that doesn’t appeal to you, this is not the book for you. However, there is a GREAT story here.

We all remember, how in the last book, Vanity asked Stack to be her date to Cannon & Yvette's wedding.
A date including sex!
She's been in love with the fighter ever since she came to town, but Stack is not after something serious.
Let the fight begin...because Vanity is playing dirty (verrry teasingly and erotically dirty!). She wants her man and she'll get him! And not just for one night!
But Stack hates lies - and Vanity's whole proposition was kind of a lie - because she didn't admit to having feelings already....
Stack's commitment-phobia is not the only thing standing in the way of their Happy Ever After...
Lots of family-problems and lies and half-truths and dogs and f'ing brothers-in-law ☺☺☺
WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO VANITY & STACK???
WILL THE TWO OF THEM GET THEIR HEA???
WILL THERE BE A CLIFFHANGER??
I'm not telling you that of course ☺

PERFECT!!
Finally the next book in Lori's fighter series - only it's not really a fighter-fighter series - there's not much fighting going on. At least not much fighting between guys in a cage ☺
Another very sexy and funny romance!!!
I loved every moment - especially the scenes featuring Armie and all the other guys! Grrrrr can't wait to read Armie & Marissa's book!!! ☺
Vanity is sooo amazing - the way she takes care of the dogs and Stack's family. Just adorable.
And the big bad fighter with his soft heart for family and those cute dogs.
Lots of sexy scenes!!!!
I just love this series!
It's sooo adorable to see all those big bad fighters falling for their girls one after the other ☺
→ TOUGH LOVE was an amazingly beautiful & sexy & suspensy Romance!
You'll love it!!!!!
I WOULD SOOO LOVE IT if someone would make a movie/tv-series out of this book - just so we could stare and fangirl at Cannon all day long!!!!
Now I can't wait for Armie's book - he already changed his hair to it's natural color for Marissa ;)

“Before she could react to that, he put his mouth on hers, his lips warm and firm, nudging hers open so that his tongue could touch just inside, teasing her own, easing her into things until he had both hands in her wet hair, their bodies pressed together, mouths moving in a hot, eating kiss that obliterated clear thought.”
4 fightworthy stars!! This book was beyond excellent and I loved every page of it!!
Vanity has wanted Stack since the first day she met him. She sets out a plan to keep their relationship casual since Stack is absolutely opposed to relationships. Her plan works out really well until Stacks previous life comes out of the background. Will their relationship make it past his terrible secrets and family?? Or will they decide a relationship isn’t worth it?

I read all 3 books from the Ultimate series for this review but Tough Love could be read as a standalone. Vanity is an independent woman with California good looks. She sets her sights on Stack, an MMA fighter, and makes a plan to snag him by not being clingy and providing amazing sex. They agree to be dates for a wedding for one night of sex with no strings attached. She’s the perfect woman…..friend/lover. Will her slow and steady love win the race?
“Vanity was the one of the sexiest women he’d ever known, but she was also real. Bold. He didn’t have to wonder at her thoughts, because she spelled out what she wanted and how she wanted it.
She also made it clear that their time together had a short time frame, and after they’d settled the lust, she fully expected him to mosey on out of her life.
Should’ve been perfect, only...it nettled him that she didn’t push for more.”
I think this was my favorite book out of the Ultimate series. Vanity is adorable with her self-assured personality. She gets along great with women or men. Stack is a perfect alpha who had a loving set of parents to show him a healthy relationship and the meaning of commitment. As unsure he is of wanting a long term relationship, he can’t picture letting Vanity get away. I adored reading this as the love story unfolds.
My absolute favorite part of the books is every single woman feels like she has no family until she gets involved with these MMA fighters and finds a whole new loving family waiting to take care of each other. It’s beautiful. I am anxiously awaiting Armie’s story. I have a strong feeling that will be my favorite Ultimate book of all.

Tough Love is a third book in Ultimate series, but can be easily read as a standalone. I haven't read previous books and was completely ok with the story. It was a bit long, but a good reading nonetheless.
We meet Vanity Baker, who's had a crush on Stack "The Wolf" Hannigan for a long time. He is all muscled, strong, sexy and hot MMA fighter. He is also commitment-phobe, so Vanity comes up with a plan and propositions him - just sex. She thinks that as long as she can keep her feelings hidden and make it looking casual, she can have him. Just sex, just friends, no feelings involved, that's what she offers to lure Stack. Stack is more than willing to agree and so their friends with benefits type of relationship begins.
Like that ever works.... Stack soon realizes that one night with Vanity is not even near enough for him and that he wants more. Her charming personality, honesty and good heart, it all gets to him. When they fell into easy relationship, outside problems appear, threatening them. Stack is determined to keep Vanity safe, while she fights for what she wants to have with him.
I loved Stack, you can see that underneath all that muscle, there is warm, sweet, caring and very protective man. Vanity was just fabulous heroine. I loved how she knew what she wanted and was not afraid to go after it.
Overall, if you are into fighters books where friends to lovers trope is a bonus, and you like strong alpha heros and good natured, smart and independent heroines, I recommend this one. You can also count on some steamy scorching sex scene, which is always welcomed in romances, right?

This book is part of the Ultimate Fighter Series. While her books can be read alone, it is so much more fun to read all of those in the series. I love how she connects the characters and as the series grows so do previous characters. This series is definitely one of my favorites from Lori Foster.
This book had so much suspense that it kept me on the edge of my seat. Who knew a proposition for sex could lead to forever kind of love? Vanity hoped for it and it is fun to watch how the characters unfold as they get to know each other.
This story has some unexpected twist that kept me on the edge of my seat. Definitely a must read. Plus, if you haven't read the other books in this series pick them up and read them too.
Do not miss this book!!!

First Date: Vanity has a thing for Stack but knows he has commitment phobia and our heroine is very clever. She plays dirty but in the most delicious way. In the previous book, the two make an arrangement of sorts. He will be her date at the wedding of their friends and she will give him one night of bliss with no strings attached. Ooo-la-la you clever, clever girl. The novel opens at the wedding and we get a little flashback of what has been happening since they made the arrangement. They have not even hooked up yet and Stack is plotting for more time.
Second date: Things get hot and smexy, but interruptions caused by a family emergency and commitments keep these two from doing the tango. Foster has a way with her characters, and I found myself drawn in and curious about his family and their problems. We continue to learn more about Vanity and the more I get to know her the more I want to be her bestie. The chemistry, banter and dance between Stack and Vanity is off the charts and I so want them to get an HEA. We get updates about other characters, and witness some changes in Armie. A suspenseful thread involving Stack adds tension and a little mystery. I enjoyed this added element.
Third date: Secrets, threats and growth make the last date intense. Vanity has been in love with Stack since she met him, but watching Stack fall is nothing short of sweet. Danger and misunderstandings made this final date a little bumpy but Foster creates just enough tension without overdoing the drama. I really do not want this date to end. Copy provided by publisher, full review at caffeinated book reviewer.

Tough Love (Ultimate #3) by Lori Foster is the third book in this series. I fell in totally love with Ms. Foster’s writing quite some time ago. I have read all the books in the Ultimate series so far, No Limits, Hard Knocks and Holding Strong. When I found out Tough Love was releasing soon I jumped on the chance to read Vanity and Stack's story.
I have loved Stack for a long time. He is an alpha male through and through. He loves his women, in the bed room that is. He swears to be a confirmed bachelor for the most part. Well, until he meets the stunning Vanity Barker. I love both of these characters and have been cheering them on for a long time.
Will Stack finally give in and let Vanity love him? You will have to read this awesome book to find out.
I highly recommend this series and I am still dying for Armie’s story and cannot wait for it to be released!

One of the things I love about reading books in a series is you get to revisit previous characters. It's like seeing old friends again. Stack is one alpha who knows what he wants and he so wants Vanity. Vanity believes she has to proposition Stack to get his attention even though she wants more she'll settle for one night. Once Stack and Vanity come together they can start a forest fire with all the heat they generate. I love the comrade between all the fighters. They're like family. Another thing I really enjoyed about this book was the setting up of future scenarios. You get glimpses of possible futures characters. Vanity is one kick ass heroine. She's strong and independent, but she's so likable because she has her insecurities too. Seeing Stack's interaction with his family was another highlight, because a lot of people can relate to the craziness. If you haven't checked out this series what are you waiting for you're missing out on some awesome reads

Tough Love is the third book in Lori Foster's Ultimate Series, which focuses on MMA fighers and the women they fall in love with, and is a series that I have enjoyed very much. There's just something about hot MMA fighters mixed with good romance that just draws me in. We've met both Vanity and Stack in previous novels, and now we get to read their story. Vanity is beautiful, independent, and used to taking care of herself. She's been on her own for a long time, and despite the fact that she is very "well-off," she has had her share of emotional trauma. Stack is known for being a player. He's hot, used to having women flock around him, he's a great fighter, and he's never been interested in a relationship, that is until Vanity Baker gets under his skin. What starts out as a challenge, ends up being much more. Throw a little danger, family drama, and a whole lot of well-meaning friends into the mix, and the stage is set for quite an entertaining read.
I really enjoyed getting to know both Vanity and Stack's characters and liked them both very much. I also really enjoyed getting to see the characters from the previous novels make an appearance as well. The romantic aspect was hot, and the story itself was fun, sexy, and entertaining. If you enjoy sports-themed novels then Tough Love and the entire Ultimate series is something you will want to check out.

Vanity and Stack made an agreement for one steamy night with no strings attached. Unfortunately, one night doesn’t just happen. As they try to have their one night, Stack’s family and personal problems rear their head. Vanity will not back down just because of a few problems. Soon Vanity and Stack are tackling problems together. With that Stack realizes he can’t see his life without Vanity in it. Vanity has her own secrets, but when all is said and done will Stack and Vanity be able to tackle their problems together or will things end tragically?
This is the second book I read in Lori Foster’s Ultimate series. Yet, again I fell for the story and the steamy sex scenes. I was so excited for Vanity and Stack’s story. They are two of my favorite characters. With Stack’s charisma and sexiness how could any woman not fantasize about him. Vanity, inspite of her name, is anything but vane. You really learn to love her and are quite excited to see them together. All of your fave characters and fighters are back. I am quite excited to see Armie is finally getting his book, but after this story with Vanity and Stack I am very much looking forward to when Leese will get his HEA. Overall, Lori Foster does yet another phenomenal job with her character building and storytelling. I can’t wait for the next!

I fell in love with this series with Cannon and Yvette’s story, and then fell deeper with Cherry and Denver. Now this third book in the Ultimate series has me holding my breath for number four (who could not love Armie?!?).
Book number three is about Stack and Vanity. Vanity has strong feelings for Stack but knows that Stack will run the other way if he thinks she is looking for a relationship. So she approaches him with a deal, attend the wedding of Cannon and Yvette with her and in exchange he gets to go home with her after the wedding, no strings attached (at least that is what she tells him). The only stipulation is that until the wedding he should go on with his sexual escapades as usual. Great plan if it doesn’t kill him.
There is great sexual chemistry between Stack and Vanity and so much more comes to light about who they actually are, as they navigate what could be between them.
All the fighters are there from the previous books as well as cameos from Love Undercover (another great series by Lori Foster). It’s great to see the relationship between the fighters and how they have each others backs.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Lori Foster can do no wrong and she proved it once again with this book. You are quickly drawn into the story of Vanity and Stack, who have already established a connection in the last book, Holding Strong (look around page 100, wink, wink, if you want to find out more, but I would say you should read that book if you haven't already so you can prepare yourself for Armie's story which will be coming out as well). These books all have a connection but can all be read separately and out of order and you still get the same great vibe from each of the characters.
Once you start reading you will be immediately sucked in, just as Stack was to Vanity's proposition. This is a book that was so smoothly written, so fast paced, that I didn't want to put it down once I started to read it. And I must admit that I did spend the last night up until 3 am finishing the last few chapters because I just had to know how it would all end. I couldn't wait until morning. You can't ask much more from a romance book than what this one delivers. I received an ARC in advance for an honest review. And if I hadn't, I would still be leaving this great review once I had my hands on a copy!

I am a huge fan of Lori Foster's so after being teased in the previous installment about what was sure to be a great story between Stack & Vanity I jumped at the chance to read this book! I immediately gobbled it up and I was not disappointed. Lori Foster is one of those few authors who can write sexy alpha males who walk that fine line between turning you on and pissing you off. Stack is no different!
In a family of women who are nearly dependent on Stack, he has trouble with the idea of purposely taking care of another one. Despite his bachelor style lifestyle he has always had a thing for Vanity and when she offers up a proposition of a night of sex in exchange for a wedding date he jumps at the chance. Instead of a night of his dreams he finds the night going in a direction he never expected and his gym world and personal life collide. From here, the book really takes off and had this reader hanging on and flipping pages to find out what happened next!
If you love alpha males, MMA fighters and the women they can't help but love, you will love this book! It's a win in hilarity, smokin' hot sex scenes and jammed with plenty of action, adventure and excitement leaving this reader begging for more!

Foster's The Ultimate series is on of my must read as soon as it comes out list. This book gave me everything I expect from a Foster novel, passion, love, kicking ass, and humor.
Stack is a commitment phobic MMA fighter, with a family full of DRAMA. Vanity is a stunning woman with a heart of gold, who has had her heart set on Stack from the moment she saw him. Stack is no match for the love he feels for Vanity, he finds out that he has fallen for her the hard way.
Also more Armie in this book, you can see him starting to grow up. Gotta love his humor.
A free copy of Tough love was provided to me, by publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Vanity Baker has been watching Stack Hannigan for a long time. Now they are finally moving past flirting stage into the “let’s get it on” stage. It doesn’t take long for Stack and Vanity to realize that they have a lot more going on than friends with benefits. But can Stack put aside his issues long enough to grab on to Vanity and just be happy?
Yummy, yum, yum!!! Stack and Vanity steamed up the pages and made me fall in love! I have to admit I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Stack. Although he was super hot, he was hard headed and never wanted to accept help. I could tell that Vanity’s need to help was going to get her into hot water with him. Especially with Stack’s freeloader of a brother-in-law looking to start trouble and his sister’s inability to see her husband for the loser he was. No wonder I couldn’t stop turning the pages! Tough Love is another winner from Lori Foster!

If you have been a fan of Lori Foster you'll know you can't miss this book. I've been following her fighting series since the beginning and it keeps getting better just like fine wine. I loved this story but you can read all of these books as stand alone books. I'd recommend reading them in order so you can watch how the characters develop overtime and see the old characters come into play.
Vanity and Stack are both strong characters with chemistry that is off the charts!!!!
She knows she wants Stack and she is going to get him. She throws out a proposal he can't resist from the previous book and that's where this book picks up. Stack is a hot blooded man who is not immune to her beauty, charm, and mystery. He isn't a fool and accepts her offer.
Their simple proposal is anything but. This book has suspense, mystery, romance, and many laughs along the way. It also paved the way for book#4. That is what I can't wait for. Armie story to be told. This was another 5***** book and great summer read.

I enjoyed this book in the MMA fighter series by Lori Foster. You can count on Lori for a hot, hero who isn't unnecessarily cruel to his heroine. I hate cruel heroes. The hero, Stack, was a great hero. He was tough yet tender with Vanity. He did have a commitment issue at first which is why Vanity pretended to want a no strings attached relationship. However, the reader could tell that Stack felt more for Vanity and was falling for her. Vanity was a good strong heroine and I liked that she was fun, smart, and loved with all her heart. This story has interesting secondary characters and you get to revisit previous couples from earlier books. I would suggest reading all the books in this series, but this book can stand alone. This book had it all... Romance, heat, humor, and just a little but of suspense. I'm looking forward to Armie's book next and know Mrs. Foster won't disappoint.

This is such an awesome series and each one seems to get better and better.I just loved Stack and Vanity. They really had that steamy attraction
that I thought was just awesome. I love the comradery with everyone in this series and how they bring together a sense of family without being
blood family.
I would definately recommend this book/series. It was an easy read, flowed really well. I didn't want to stop reading it once I started and I am really
looking forward to the next one in the series. I can't wait to read about Armie.

I never thought any of this Ultimate series would top No Limits with Cannon but they all just keep bring more to the whole story. You get to see more of Cannon, Denver, Armie, and even Rowdy ( my favorite book Getting Rowdy). This book hints of what's to come for Merissa and Armie. As for our main players of this book. Our lovely lady Vanity is bold, independent and she still needs her man. Our hot hot hot fighter (The Wolf) as he is known. Stack is a man who can get any girl to drop her panties. Vanity makes him a deal he can't say no to and there game began. You will be surprise how this ends.
This book is a must read in this series. Can't wait for the next.

Vanity has wanted Stack forever. But Stack wants flings not commitments. So she makes an offer he cannot refuse. Go to their friends wedding and have one night of sex. Between Stack's crazy family, it's a little while before they get together but once they do....it's explosive! Now he wants more than one night but he thinks he needs to convince her. Vanity goes slow so not to spook him. They have to figure out who's putting hits out on him and why. I probably say this each time with Ms Foster's books but I think this one is my favorite so far. Stack is handsome, loyal, and protective. Vanity is gorgeous, humble, and tells it like it is. Great couple. Hot sex.

Wow! This book! I absolutely loved this story! I could not put it down! Lori delivers a fast paced, gripping story of love and what a woman will do to get her man. Her characters are lovable, relatable, funny and down to earth not to mention hot, Hot, HOT. There is a feeling of community, family and the length that people go to for love and even revenge. I highly recommend this series but if you haven't read it from the beginning have no fear, you do not have to read the previous two books to enjoy this one or in order to follow it but trust me you will want to.

I love all of the ultimate books be it Cannon, Denver, Stack or Armie. This is Stack’s book and my second fav only edged out by Armie’s story.
I love the love story between Stack and Vanity, the love and friendship between the whole group. I know I’ll always have a fun time when I crack open an ultimate book. This was no exception and even more where we got to know more about Stack and his eccentric sister and mother plus two rambunctious dogs thrown into the mix. If you want a nice read on a cold winter night with just a tad bit of angst pick this book up along with the other three in the series you will not regret it.

Vanity has wanted Stack since she meet him, she thought he didn't notice her. She cam up with a proposition for him that he just couldn't refuse. The chemistry between these two was so hot it will set your kindle on fire. Will it stay a one night stand or will it turn into forever? These are the perfect pair in my mind. Vanity is strong, independent and sweet, Stack is sexy, kind and protective. I loved this book and I can't wait for Armie's story. It is very well written and quick paced. It is definitely a must read.

Vanity tricks Stack into being her wedding date for Cannon and Yvette's wedding for a night of hot sex. From then on accidents, misunderstandings, and a little bit of mystery keeps them on their toes. I loved the storyline and how their relationship evolves. I think this one may be my favorite of the Ultimate Novels by Lori Foster. There was just something about Stack and Vanity that I absolutely loved. Maybe it was the build up and all the foreplay, all the teasing and leading him on she did. I don't know what it was, but I loved it. I loved the proposition to the way the relationship flowed, all the way to the way it ended.
This was typical Lori Foster writing that pulls you in and leaves you wanting more of our MMA fighters/protectors. I think that may be part of what makes me like this series so much. They don't just fight, they protect. Once you're in, you're in.
This story did have me a little worried. I thought Lori was going to break my heart, but I love the way this turned out.

Lori Foster continues to dominate in her Ultimate series with book 3 Tough love.
Vanity Baker is a woman on a mission. She is sweet, strong and straight forward.. She know what she wants and she wants Stack "TheWolf" Hannigan. She has been in love with stack since the moment she seen him. Stack has is in serious lust for Vanity, but with his known commitment phobia doesn't want to think about the future. Stack is a Smokin' hot MMA fighter with trust issues and comes with a quirky family he absolutely loves. Enter his Dramatically inclined sister, her lazy excuse of a man, a conniving ex-girlfriend and a couple of loving and rambunctious doggies and you in for a story you want to read over and over.
This has everything you could ask for in a story humor, passion, a bit of danger, and great characters. I was instantly pulled in and could not put the book down.

Vanity is a remarkable person. I love how she will do anything to get the man she loves and she is also so generous. She's wealthy but doesn't flaunt it. She's ballsy yet wears her heart on her sleeve where her friends are concerned. Stack is a not bs kind of man. He is a great fit for Vanity. Love the banter between these two and the chemistry is smoking. Another ultimate read from Lori Foster.

Though I liked the sweet romance in this Lori Foster offering, I was not sold on the suspense aspect. The hero in this story is my favorite of the series; he's got a soft side that comes out when the heroine is ear, and that endeared him to me. The heroine was fresh and flirty and I enjoyed their interactions. The suspense portion of the book just didn't work for me, I tended to skim over it whenever possible. If you are a fan of Lori Foster's Ultimate series, you will definitely want to include this one in your collection - it features some of the previous characters prominently. Tough Love can stand alone, and the series is definitely worth reading.

I loved Vanity even if the girl has bad timing, "tipping her head, she smiled at him. “You only recently started calling me darlin’. Is it because we’re finally going to have sex?” Behind them, a cop coughed." Stack isn't the bit modest, “I’m not sweet, I’m horny.” He cupped her face. “So what’s the verdict?” jealousy looks interesting on Stack, “butts?” Disbelief lightened his scowl. “You’re telling me you moon over guy’s a**es?” I loved Stack I haven't met a guy in this series that I haven't loved yet and I'm really excited about Armie's story he can't get here fast enough.

This series keeps getting better with every book. Lori Foster out does her self with every book. Stack is one of my new character addictions. Vanity and stack have this raw chemistry that goes straight to you gut with the butterflies.
It is amazing how this story pulls you in so you smile at the good parts, laugh at the jokes and cry at the sad moments like your living it right along with them. A quality I always look for in a book to tell it is good is the one I can escape into and leave real life for a time this book gave me that transport.
I don't want to give any thing away but I think this book is a must have. You get sneaks about other characters in the series past and future. Don't miss out on this book. I've already gifted two copies to friends and I know they will love it as well. It is a must have Lori Foster piece of art. Give me some stack any day of the week. Yum! The new ultimate novel Tough Love has a great story with likable characters. Vanity is the type of friend that you can count on, day or night she will be there. Stack's attraction to Vanity grows as he sees that she really does care and doesn't have ulterior motives for wanting to help him. She jumps in and handles situations before Stack even realizes it, and by the time he notices she has taken care of everything. I hope that Leese gets a story, he was a new character standout.Lori Foster is never one to disappoint and this time is no exception.I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is Stack and Vanity's story,
Vanity ask Stack to take her to a wedding in return for a night of fun. That night turns into a nightmare with Stacks family. Vanity will wiggle her way into his life and Stack will have to deal with it. Things start to go well for them as long as Vanity pretends it is casual.
Stacks brother in law F**ing Phil and his ex Whitney are not happy with this which puts Stack in danger, however with Vanity on his side as well as his MMA fighter friend's they can get through anything.
This story had a little bit of everything in it and was a great read I can;t wait to get my hands on the net one in the series.

I think Stack and Vanity were even hotter than I expected.
This one starts off at Cannon and Yvette's wedding and is go from word one. I was afraid for a while there that another obstacle was going to get thrown in their way. No worries, they finally hook up, and boy was it hot. We get to see all the old gang plus little peeks into Armie and Rissy. I know she wrote that Armie's is going to the last but I think there needs to be one more with Lesee.
My biggest complaint is that the last 25% was a Buckhorn novella, and it was one I've already read.

I had a tough time getting into Tough Love. Perhaps it was the time between books? Maybe it was because the stories were so different from each other. I think the real reason was my mood. I’ve actually discussed and dissected this story a bit with a blogger friend of mine who I completely trust. She loved Tough Love. Yep, it was all me… trust her!
Here’s my impression: I think that I was looking for another damsel in distress tale. After books one and two, you kind of expect some major drama of some kind to rear its ugly head as a sub plot to the romance. I was disappointed at about 20% when I still couldn’t figure out the plot to the story.
Don’t worry, there is a plot! It’s just a more subtle, less in your face, than the last two books’ plots. This story is more a study of character, schemes, and what a lie is. Is it a lie if you omit the truth? Oh, and that pesky thing we didn’t sign up for called “family drama”. Ugh… I hate family drama.
And there you go! Another possible reason why I didn’t “click” with this book. Family drama is a brain suck for me. I’ve dealt with it and can’t stand it. Total pet peeve. And then to add in a grown, adult child who won’t make the right decisions for themselves and the parent is enabling that child. !@#$%!@#$%!!!! No thanks. Saw that kind of drama from the sidelines kill a childhood friend – it ain’t pretty for anybody. So needless to say, some characters got on my nerves.
What did I like? I liked that Stack had changed from when we first met him in Holding Strong. He was a serial dater back then and ever since Vanity threw down the wedding date with benefits opportunity, Stack has changed his tune. Vanity, for her part, is a fantastic character. We learn more about her backstory and we understand why she is the way she is. It’s an interesting conundrum to dissect in a romance novel (I can’t spoil it for you!)
I really loved the future that was hinted at for these two! Yet another reason why I’m impatiently waiting for Fighting Dirty, Armie’s story, which is expected to published in February 2016. I’m hoping we get a glimpse of what happened for these two, as well wrap-ups with everyone else (please?)
And always remember, a three star review is NOT bad. I told you ahead of time, trust everyone else on this book – I’ve just got to be honest :D
I received this book for free from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
No thanks. Vanity Baker is in love with Stack Hannigan, an MMA fighter. Stack is not into commitments so Vanity decides to perk his interest by pretending she only wants a casual relationship. Her plan is working really well until his problem family and a relationship from his past complicate things. His brother-in-law and ex are nothing but trouble and they put both Stack and Vanity in danger. This book is a mix of romance, sex, and manipulative characters. A good summer read.

I couldn't put it down. I am a huge fan of The Ultimate Series and Lori did not disappoint me with Stacks and Vanity story. Attraction unparallel to anyone else but working for the goods and what you truly want comes at a price.....
Yeah the offer was on the table and accepted and the games were just as good. Love and his girl was worth it ALL.

Judging a Book by it's Cover:
Topless male in classic fighter pose. Synopsis hints at some Suspense thrown into the romance.
Looking Deeper:
Third-person POV.
Stack is another of Cannon's friends that's also signed onto the SBC. He and Yvette's best friend, Vanity, strike a deal that's supposedly meant to be a one-night, guaranteed, no-strings sex date for their friends' wedding but there is too much tension, passion and attraction between them for one night only - especially when become reluctant heroes on the way home, his mom falling ill, his brother-in-law causing trouble, and an unknown player ordering hits on Stack.
There's plenty of excitement, a bunch of fun with the standard rec center cast, and enough steamy sex scenes to keep all of the Ultimate fans happy. Chemistry between the leads is good, as is the dialogue and interaction. The plot is pretty good and the flow is smooth. I'm not sure WHY, but I did not feel as emotionally attached to these two as I was some of the previous couples. There's nothing wrong with them or the plot, but I did feel somewhat disconnected from them. Maybe because it felt like there were too many sub-plots or secondary plots trying to monopolize the story? I really do not know... moving on: there was some conflict. Predictability was minimal and the conclusion was satisfying. Overall, I recommend the series as a whole.

Okay, I need to preface this with the fact that it has been a while since I read a book in this series, but I was not impressed. This didn’t seem like it was even near the same level as far as being interesting and well written as other books in this and the other loosely connected series.
I wasn’t a fan of the main characters in this one at all. Stack really came across as a jerk and I didn’t see anything about him that would be considered attractive other than his physical looks. Vanity, just didn’t make sense. She is this supposedly strong, self sufficient person, yet she has zero self esteem with regards to her looks and potential for relationships. We get a tiny little bit of history on her to explain it, but it wasn’t enough to really understand her character at all. She runs around practically begging Stack to be in a relationship with her and he seems to really only be in it for the sex all the way up until the very end. With the lack of anything all that interesting from either character, the romantic aspect of the story was rather lackluster.
The antagonistical part of the story line also felt really off and made little sense. What made it worse is that we didn’t exactly get any kind of real resolution. Sure, we found out what was going on and why, but we didn’t get to see how it actually got wrapped up. The police got informed of what the PI heard and they said they’d look into it, but then the story ended without finding out what, if anything at all, happened with Whitney. That was just weird. I don’t remember any of the other books just cutting off like that.
What made it even worse was after this huge upheaval in the romance between Vanity and Stack (which both seriously overreacted to in the first place), it was all “I was an idiot. Sorry. Let’s get married instead” situation that left me wondering what the hell I’d just read as it didn’t fit the rest of the story at all. It was like the author got close to the total for the word count for this book and had to toss an ending in there to get it done.
It is seriously weird because I’d swear that I’ve really enjoyed the rest of the books in this series and I’m not sure this even qualifies as being okay. So, yeah, very much not impressed.

Love reading books about MMA fighters but The Ultimate Series has to be my absolute favorite. The fighters have just the right mix of heart and swagger to keep them real and down to earth. I love that the hero and heroine have such chemistry.

Vanity is one of my favorite heroines Lori Foster has ever written. She's smart, strong, clever, funny, and modest. And she doesn't let an inflated ego lead her into bad situations she needs rescuing from, something that happens often and drives me nuts.

Vanity made a deal with Stack to spend a night with him in return for accompanying her to the wedding of friends. Although the two are very attracted to one another, their plans for a steamy night are interrupted. As Stack''s family has issues that arise and interfere, Vanity is sweet and steps up to help in any manner possible. Stack isn't looking for a relationship, but is very drawn to Vanity. Another complication emerges when it becomes apparent that they are in danger, and Stack is determined to keep Vanity safe.
This was a great addition to the series, and I really enjoyed seeing all of the familiar characters. Stack and Vanity were both very likable in this one and I loved reading their story. The chemistry between Stack and Vanity was great, and the storyline kept me interested from start to finish. I can't wait for the next book! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
