It's an Allright story even of the stats and rpg element are more of a distraction rather than a feature, as they don't seem to matter, the hero has just enough to succeed, or gets it just in time, or an old skill with an exact definition just does an insane amount of buffing.

Very much enjoyed reading this book and following the continuing adventures of Lyrian and his guid, Victus! You get your money's worth this this one, as it is a good long read, but the story never lags. Great action, great character development. I'm looking forward to the next book with eager anticipation!

5 stars simply because I couldn't put it down. Old problems coming to bite you, political games, intense battles. Looking forward to seeing Lyr adjust more to his new traits and further incorporate them. And possibly censoring some of the more sensitive details of his feed to avoid a big fallout down the line. Looking forward to the audiobook of this

Great next installment to the series! This book is fun and entertaining to read. I’m normally one to stick to large, 800+ page books, but I constantly find myself wanting more of the Ascend Online wold.

Awesome sequel to the first book. I skipped reading book 2, and am now going back for it. I think it made book 3 more interesting to not know what happened in book 2. A few small typos here and there, but no big deal. Looking forward to the next book!

Another action-packed adventure! Legacy of the fallen picks up right where book one left often brings it in an amazing new Arc! Characters continue to level up and gaining their skills, while finding new and old enemies. Great book highly recommended.

Another fantastic addition to the growing work for Ascend Online. Neatly wraps up some story lines while introducing a few more and capturing the reader's attention with every moving and well written chapter. Greatly anticipating the next installment.

Was waiting for the next ascend online book since I finished the first one. Even read the sidestory to satiate my appetite.

The book did not disappoint. If you read the first then read this one. It’s solid. There’s some points I couldn’t put the book down (the raid.)

Now to wait for the next one. Sigh.

Good read. Action driven. First person storyline prevents development of the other characters. You got into it with Lazarus' story in Hell To Pay. You should do the same with other characters within the same book. Lydian is too typical as you know he will always come out on top.

This series is full of action and plot twists that'll keep you turning the pages. The way the NPCs and players interact is well thought out and entertaining. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

The books keep getting better. Long and meaty and interesting. Highly recommended. Life isn’t easy for the group as their enemies accumulate and they race against time to solve a huge problem for the area.

Love this series of books. It’s well written with great characters. The story line is riveting and fast passed. Be sure to read the books in order.
Can’t wait for the next one in the series.

This is a very well written and comprehensive litrpg series. I loved the first book, and this one is also good, it just lacks the excitement of consistent settlement an character development it's predecessor had. Read this series, it is worth it. Just get ready for a LOT of crafting.

I love Ascend online, the first book was definitely a good start, but this one for me set the story. The author puts allot of unused gaming ideas near the end (spoilers), this part carried the book for me. My only complaint is sometimes the main character still acts clueless in spots where most avid gamers see the obvious. Can’t wait for the next book, keep up the good work Luke!

Flawless editing, fantastic character development and amazing story. I love everything about the series so far! Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, the author went an even better way.

Kindle Unlimited - Thank you.

4 stars for skill and story creativity since I don't believe an author should be dissed due to personal preferences. Otherwise I'd be at a 2-star rating. There are a couple of LitRPG tropes that I'm beyond tired of encountering. The perpetual bad guy(s) that never get dealt with just make for redundant storylines, especially PvP and PkP. (Alternate scenarios of the same conflict because it's hard to come up with new stuff?) Another is perpetual MC abuse. Certainly doesn't make me want to run out, spend money on a game, and jump in to hanging out in a world where the bullies ride roughshod over everyone else; enough of that in RL.

Even better than the first book, this one brings together several plot lines and culminates in a fantastic ending. Without going into detail, this book is easily one of the most fun and engaging books I've read in years.

Story is really well written and engaging, it’ll draw you in and you’ll look up and a couple hours have gone by. The author needs to throw in more descriptive words for a lot though, he uses countless too much. Try dozens or hundreds or something.... everything can’t be countless!!! Besides that one thing it’s an awesome book series and I can’t wait for the next one

A wonderful read that does everything just right in my eyes. Character Building? Check. World Building? Check. Humor? Damn Skippy. I'm already Looking forward to Book 3 and will continue pouring praise on Mr. Chmilenko as long as there's quality material like this

4.5 rounding up.

Long as all hell. It fits a couple plots into the book. Pretty organic in how it throws out new plots while wrapping up old ones.

There's a couple formatting issues (tabs instead of spaces in a couple areas and double punctuation marks). There might be a continuity error in one spot, but it's not particularly egregious.

Another wonderful series in the LitRPG genre, the Ascend Online books set themselves apart with their round, believable characters. The series is also unpredictable in the best way; I really feel drawn into Luke’s online (...?) world.

This series is great so far, I am just hoping that we see more guild involvement in the future by some of the outliers of the guild. Kind of let everyone contribute something instead of being geared by someone else. But other than me just being picky I would highly recommend this book!!

I have really enjoyed these characters and their struggles. The story line is great, it really make you think about the advancement in today’s VR TECH. Are we around the corner from this type of event?

This is the first time I've read a gaming novel. I found it follows a true mmorpg path, and balances a bit between the characters dealing with the online world and their real lives ' issues . I would have liked to hear more about what happened in the real world around them, but overall it was engrossing and fast paced.

I have really enjoyed this series and the world presented to us. I had one hang up when reading this. The main character seemed always to panic. Literally, the word panic was used way way too much. This wasn’t enough to make me stop reading, as I really did love this book, It was just something that made me cringe. Warriors should ideally not panic when faced with surprising situations. I’m not sure it was the right word to use.

One of the best in this genre that I’ve found. I will definitely keep reading when Luke gets another book out. I’m interested in seeing how his “real world” story line plays out. And the game AI line as well.

Having already read the previous books, I bought this as soon as I found out I could. It was just as good if not better than the other two books, Ascend Online, and Hell to Pay. I anxiously await the next installment.

Great addition to the series. Character development in this book was top notch, although there were points where I was getting action fatigue with just how the pacing was especially towards the end. Having said all of that though, loved the book.

A long but satisfying sequel to Ascend Online book 1. Luke does a great job of building out the VR world and progressing the story to bring conflict to the main characters. Each chapter made me want to keep reading just to find out what happens next.

Than the first book.
At least this time someone was picking up the loot!
I have to ask though, if the MC crafts a weapon or armor that is of a higher level than he is at, how can he possibly use it before achieving that same level???
Overall I highly recommend this book, with over 700 pages of adventure.
