I love the character development and the motivational insight. And even more action than book one. I have to thank Tim Burton though for my ability to love and feel the friendship and loss for the character Rex. Can't wait for book 3.

The storyline evolves with this book and we find that Alfred is evolving within the story. He is now able to interact and control things to a much higher degree than before and Jason has given him access to the web. Very intriguing

I had looked at this series a couple of times before, and was a bit disillusioned with the genre in general. The first book also had a bit of a slow start, so it took a lot to get me started properly. However, after finishing book two, I can easily say that I enjoyed these books just as much as Ready Player One, and was thrilled to see something that I have sought for diligently and found in short supply. The birth of an AI and it's first stumbling steps into the world, without sharing the cognition and goals of a deadly pathogen. I hope...

I noticed at the end you were planning on ending this series as a trilogy, but there's no possible way this story could be wrapped up after only 3 books. Even a 4th book wouldn't cut it. I can't wait for book 3 though. That cliffhanger was brutal.

First the bad. The author decided to use italics for characters other than Jason and it doesn't feel as natural a shift in perspective as you'd find in other books and personally found it distracting. If you are a stats fan they are present but because of the protagists focus don't play as big a role as they might in other books. Lastly as the author has mentioned this is meant to be a series so the ending has quite the cliffhanger so be warned. Now for the good stuff. The author is one of the more competent in the LitRPG genre, I didn't notice any mispellings or awkward phrasings while reading. The characters are well developed and the story doesn't feel like it's sliding by using classic RPG tropes. I am really looking forward to seeing where the story goes from here.

I love seeing the perspective of a villain character as well as the perspective of artificial intelligence as it attempts to examine human nature. Fantastic series and I can’t wait for the next book.

Amazing story!! I am on pins and needles for the Next book!!! Jason, Riley, and Frank have all come a long way in their lives, and the cliffhanger that just came at the end of the book was like wow!!!!

One of the best books I have read. Was sad I had to wait for the next book. :-) story told from the villain side. But the villain is not like a villain. Aka wicked like. Strongly recommend this book. Would gove it 6 stars if I could.

(Borrowed through Kindle Unlimited) The only problem I have with this book is that now I have to wait for book #3! This is an amazing LitRPG adventure series, and I am thoroughly hooked. Highly recommended!

All right Travis. You managed to write a compelling story, with characters that are fleshed out and likable. Listen man if you keep doing this I'll have to keep reading all your books. How dare you! Thanks can't wait till the next one!

Great continuation of the series. A lot of stuff happens in this book, so if you read the first AO book, I urge you to read this one as well, you won't be disappointed.

Sounds like book three is going to be epic, can't wait!

The story is very well written and tackles a few of the questions that most will ask of themselves at one point in their life. It does this with a great story and a lovely cast of believable characters. All hail the Dark Overlord!

Great to see a book from the alleged "villain" side of things. It's cool that this shows that the "bad guy" is actually looking out for his own people and will do anything to protect them. The leveling is cool and seeing the Jason evolve is exciting. Can't wait for the next book!

This was excellent! I couldn't put it down! I direct sequel to the first it maintains the momentum and sucks you in, must read in order. I will be dying from suspense until I can get my hands on the next one! Travis keep up the damn fine work!

What an incredible series ! I am totally in game with this. Have always loved gaming online. This is an incredible step in the right direction. More More More ! Love Jason Riley and Frank. Go get them, Original Sin ❗️

The character development and conflicts. the story, the everything about this book honestly rocks. The author doesn't focus on the overall leveling of his character and making him overpowered like most. Instead, he focuses on his characters actually thinking and using things in new ways. which,is awesome! Love this book series and can't wait for the next one

I read this book at 12:01AM on release date and finished it around 5AM. As a fan of LitRPG, I implore you to understand that this series is much like a game you've had on preorder, predownloaded and expect to play for hours unknown. The hype is real.

Holy crap. No, seriously, holy crap! I thought at first maybe the second one wasn't going to be as good as the first. But once it gets going, it's a wild ride with an ending that... Just holy crap. Definitely looking forward to the third.

2nd of series (Don't miss the 1rst book, Awaken Online:Catharsis.)

In this second book Jason the Necromancer not only levels up, but grows as a person. It's as good as the first book. Yeah, really good.

Book 1 was 10/10
And this book 2 seems 9/10 (tired from Alex's monologue) to me.
Storytelling was superb. How unpredictable it was.(especially book1)
Battle scene was mind blowing.
You will regret to pass this series just because of age or game based storyline.
I'm 43, pharmacist.
Still this books have been occupying my mind and free times.

I love this series so far. The second book advances the story and solidifies Jason's core group. It also gives some insight into his main enemy and has a surprising ending. I can't wait for the next installment!

This was a great read!
The storyline continued moving, the characters didn't drastically change for no reason, the rules didn't suddenly become broken in new ways, and the immersion was still there, can't wait to read book 3!

When I started book one of this series I started to giggle at points. It didn't stop when Book 2 started. My wife will not look at me when I starts giggling and go book? I will giggle more and reply book. Good stuff.

This is one of the best science fiction series... hands down! The litrpg scene is really exploding and AO is definitely at the forefront. There is a lot of lessons to take from this book when it comes to morality and pre conceived notions of good and evil. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I can't wait for the next book in the series!

This is an interesting book series. It’s kinda like Ready Player One but more focused on the characters, and how they develop emotionally within a game world run by an Artificial Intelligence that answers to no one.

Son of a motherless goat! That is how a second book should end.

The story progresses nicely. I have followed the Litrpg genre for a short time and this series is among my favorites. Mr Bagwell does a very good job weaving in and out of RL and game time. He also allows a bit of understanding how the MC and antagonists are experiencing "life" in and out of game.

The editor earned their pay on this one, as there were few if any errors or mistaken words.

Definitely looking forward to more from Travis.

Great sequel to the first book...Can't wait to read the next book in the series....Would like to see some repercussions for "Alex"... Frankly the character truly engenders hatred. The book's NPC characters are brilliantly written and I like that we are learning more about them.

series worth the read. consistent writing style with the alternating perspective in the first chunk of every chapter, the rest in Jason's point of view. There isn't as much concern from Jason about the AI, but that'll probably change in book 3.

I have read many series since starting with Aleron Kong's chaos seed series. Many I find to be lacking in one area or another. This series the author does a very good job developing the story, game mechanics, characters, and providing updates throughout the book. I would say this is currently in my top 3 and looking forward to the next book.

Wow this book really grabs you by the bootstraps! I find the moral purposefulness intriguing and unusually relatable. I mean this guy could probably write self help books if he wanted...or anything else for that matter.
Do yourself the favor of reading this one!

Its late and I'm tired cause I just stayed up to finish this book, so I'm going to be brief. He knows how to write one and certainly knows how to end one. Too. What an ending and what great deal of character growth in this story. Still alot left to be explained and looked forward to in book 3 and I can't wait!!

This book is amazing, but as you can tell I hate the author, man, Travis doesn't publish often, and I can't tell if this book or Dungeon Madness (another good book, go read it) has a worse cliff hanger, I mean, I can't believe Alfred would--what? Did you think I would spoil it for you? No, I wouldn't, read the book, it's good... then you can hate cliffhangers with me :)

The more I read the better it gets. This book feels like it is on par with Tolkien. The content and history as well as the multiple story arcs combine to create an Epic Fantasy. I don’t ever want this story to end.

I have to admit I rarely leave reviews, but this book series reminds me a lot of the play to live novels by D Rus. That being said these books also have their own unique flavor and take on just what being good and evil can mean. If your a fan of the litrpg genre or a mixture of sci-fi and sword and sorcery I would encourage you to give this novel and in fact this series a read, I promise it is worth taking a look at.

Ok. I have to say I really only got the first book for the cover art. I have been going though almost all the litrpg books I can find and here was one with diffent type of cover. True the fist book was good. This second they where able to take what was built in the first and expand. This is turning out to be a great set of books and I look forward for more things for the author.

That cliffhanger, OMG! I just finished the book this morning on my way to work, and I was floored by that cliffhanger ending! The whole book was an amazing ride, start to finish! The mysteries surrounding the Dark One, Alfred, and the now that ending, I cannot wait to see what happens in book 3! 5 Stars!

I was highly anticipating the sequel to the initial novel, and was not disappointed. Mr. Bagwell continues to tell a focused and growing story in what is quickly becoming an overcrowded genre. Good storytelling never grows old, and an authors ability to create characters you care about, and locations that you populate with your own imagination, remain the hallmark of fiction writing. Highly recommended.

Truly an amazing, well-written story that raises the bar for this genre. The growth of the characters is done well, and even realistically as not every person chooses the best socially acceptable path. The additional conflicts add more flavor to the central plot, and made it all-around near impossible to put down. I hope the next one comes out soon so I can return to AO!

I really hate cliffhangers, particularly when combined with an increased price point. It is somewhat astounding how few dollars are required to move me from being appreciative for a well written story, to resentment for being forced to pay "too much" to complete the story that I started. This story is well written, the characters and world building top notch. My only quibble is towards price point, and the huge cliffhanger at the end of this book.

This book is one great follow up book. Whereas most series tend to fluctuate their aim with long breaks. Precipice was a great way to expand on the ground laid in the first book both especially in the real world section and create new ground and challenges that occur as the story grows and advances.

I enjoyed the first book as a good story that was easy to read. The second one took it to another level, and it is better than a simple adventure inside a game. I think the action that takes place outside the game is just as interesting as what takes place in the game. I can't wait to read the next in the series!

I've literally never reviewed a book before, despite having read hundreds over the past year alone, yet this one deserves the effort. Awaken online doesn't suffer from cliche and needless dialogue that most litrpgs I've read does. I was able to connect with the characters and sympathize with what they go through, it's not perfect but the characters felt real.

I really liked the first book but the second book totally lost me. I just could not get into the story, the MC has everything handed to him and there is no real conflict.
