The cover of the book is printed out backwards so that when you open the book you are at the end and the text is upside down. Since this is a Dr. Seuss book I read it to make sure that it wasn't supposed to be this way (it's not). Anyway, the book looks fun but the printing is flawed.

Great book for guidance & fun in recording baby & childhood fun facts.
Parents fill in the early years. Once the child can handle a crayola, he/she takes over as artist/author.. We pull their books out every birthday and laugh out loud as we read them.....!

I had this book when I was growing up as did both of my big brothers. We all loved this book. So I got it for my daughter when she turned 9. It was perfect for her. I loved going through it with her just like I did when I was younger. It has the same questions about yourself and your house that it had 30 years ago. Highly recommend.

This is a great book for young children, with plenty of simple but fun things for them to do, and even years after they've filled it out, it is a great memento of when your children were little, it's something you can look at years later with a smile on your face as you think of the fun your children had and the happiness something so simple brought them.

Love these books. Ordered two for each of my little ones and they have been so excited to complete them now I just have to find the time to count all the buttons on their shirts and all the other fun tasks in these books!

It is a "must" for every child age 6 years up to about 12 years. It will be a book they won't part with after they grow up. It captures their childhood in their own words. After I learned about that delightful book I made sure that my great grandchildren have that book. My only regret is that I was not aware of it when my children and most of my grandchildren were little. Lillian Martz

This is a classic. I had one when I was little and my son loves his. We work on it a little at a time and I date the pages so we remember how old he was when he wrote it. We started working on it when he was five, and I think that is about the earliest to start it at. It makes a great keepsake and he just loves that he can write in a really Dr. Seuss book. I often give this as gifts and it is great for boy and girls.

Bought it for my granddaughter because she found and read her mother's (my daughter) "My Book About Me" and loved it. She has read it at least 20 times in the last couple of months. So I decided to go on line and order it for her.

It is a great book for children to think about themselves and their surroundings and how they both are important in life.

This is a fun book that both of my children enjoy. I actually had one when I was a child and my Holden love reading through it, and laugh at my responses. It's fun to have and look back on later in life!

Great way to spend time with your little one and encourage conversations and silliness, I bought this for my 3.5 year old and she constantly goes back to reading the pages we created together and is constantly asking to fill in more! =) Looking for a similar product for a 6 year old (1st Grader) in case anyone has any recommendations!

I LOVE this book. My uncle gave me one when I was eight, and I fondly remember the delight of filling out all the pages. It is my go-to gift for little ones now, because I know they're going to have fun with it.

This is an outstanding gift to get for kids ages 5-9. Early enough when they start to write...but can continue to use it through age 9 if they don't finish it throughout the years. My husband has his from 1972 and my twin boys (7) just love compairing their answers to their dad's. I'll be sure their kids get this book as well!
Lifetime of memories...written by them, about them!

I got this book when I was a kid, my niece handed me mine and I looked it over with amusement. Then was happy to see I could buy one from the store, 10 minutes after being handed my 35 year old book from my niece. I had one on the way for her to. =)

I started a tradition of gifting this book to each grandchild when are old enough to read it and write the responses. They feel very grown up when they receive and Gill out the book. Years later, they love looking at "their book " to read their responses years later.

My oldest daughter has this book, and I had it when I was a little girl. My son really wanted one, so I got him one for Christmas...you can say it's a bit of a tradition in the family and it's really fun for the kids to get into:)

BEWARE BUYING THIS BOOK USED! Half of the books I purchased "used-like new" had half or more of the pages filled out. If in doubt, ask, if they don't have an answer, buy new and save yourself the hassle of returns.

Very fun fill in book to do with children as a "see me grow" remembrance. Kids have fun looking back in the older versions to see the changes. I'm sure there are other, similar books/printables out there, but this one is easy to find and has charming Dr Seuss illustrations.

I bought each of my grandkids one of these for Christmas last year, and my daughters have purposely allotted time for ME to work with each grandkid to help them complete their books. Not only does it provide great one-on-one time with each of my grandchildren, but it will be a fun thing for them to look back on later. Love it!!

I was given this book when I was six years old, so I bought this for my six year old son to do as well. He absolutely loved it. It will be a special heirloom for him to keep and maybe he'll continue the tradition with his own six year old one day. :)

The order went just fine, but one of the books had the cover put on upside down and backwards. the store service made good on shipping a replacement with next day shipping. There was a little mix up on whether I owed money for this book or not, but it was resolved rather quickly with a couple e-mails. Everything now is just fine. The problem was really with the publisher, not the store, but the store made it good.

I still have the book I filled out when I was a little kid some thirty+ years ago. I thought it would be cool to have a multigenerational collection for comparison so I bought one for my daughter. It probably won't be a book that gets pullout a lot and looked at, but it's a fun collectable if you have the space on your bookshelf.

Very cute I think this will be a big hit with my 5 year old! It may just be my kid, but I have a feeling he'll be so excited about all his toys, but when I give him this he will just want to do this. He's very creative and loves doing things with us so I think he'll really like this!

I guess I didn't read well. I typed in babies first year baby book my daughter loves Dr Sues but who doesn't. She opened it up and I found out a while after it was not what I thought. Went out and bought her the right baby book.

The book covered too many areas that were not "about me" such as, does your house have stairs, how many beds in your house, etc. It starts out with "me" stuff like hand/foot print, eye color, hair color and type, favorite foods, etc, but then gets lost in all that other stuff.

I actually like this book. I had my son write his info. on sticky notes so the book can be reused. The book I purchased for the school unfortunately was written in directly. That is a great idea if you plan to keep it as a keepsake for your child.

I had this book when I was a kid—I think I was 7 or 8 when I filled it out. I remember filling out the prompts and it felt like a fun scavenger hunt to get all the answers! Now, reading the book (and my opinions... my favorite color was black? Ha!) is just hilarious.

Not to mention, my two-year-old daughter LOVES to read this book too! "This your hand, mommy? This your hair?" I ask her HER favorite color, have her hold up HER hand to the tracing of mine, it's great. This book is always a hit, no matter what age.

Just make sure you put it in a safe place when your'e done so you have decades of fun, too :)

THE BOOK WAS DESCRIBED AS HAVING A LITTLE WEAR. IT IS A WRITE IN EDITION AND EVERY PAGE A CHILD HAD FILLED IN THE BLANKS SO THE BOOK WAS IN POOR CONDITION. IF ONLY A PAGE OR TWO HAD THE WRITING I WOULD BE SATISFIED.I CANNOT USE IT. THE CHILD'S NAME AND ADDRESS ARE IN IT SO I MAY MAIL IT TO THAT ADDRESS. IT WAS NOT AS ADVERTISED.

This is a fantastic book for kids. They LOVE to talk about themselves, what they like, what they look like, who they are... and this book gives them to opportunity to do so in a nicely structured way. It gives them the opportunity to say how old they are, what they like, what they want to be when they grow up... they get to write a story and draw a picture and talk about their family. It's really a great experience for them.

My eight year old nephew completed his as soon as he got it and then *helped* his 5 year old sister and 4 year old brother to complete theirs. (okay so that tells you about the age range - I was six when I did mine... the 4 and 5 year old were too young to really do it... the 8 year old was the PERFECT age... you need to be able to read independently and count and add.)

This will become a Christmas tradition for them... I plan to buy them each one until they outgrow them (sometime around 80 :). I still have mine from when I was a kid. It's a great keepsake - especially for those middle children who never have photos of themselves when they grow up :).

i got my book about me from one of my aunts for my 5th birthday, and she helped me fill it out. i'm now 24 and still have it, and love it! unfortunately, my mom didn't get any for the older 3 of my siblings, who are now in their teens, but i have other younger siblings (we have a whole heard!) and i plan to get it for them, and also buy a few extra copies for when i have children. (if it's still around, i might just get one for every year!) it's the perfect gift for a child between 5-7. and it's nice to look back and see the ways that things, and people, change and grow. every parent should get this book for each of their children. you won't regret it! it's a great keepsake, directly from your child!

Its a knock off version of the actual book. I bought this because I already have one for my daughter and I wanted one for my son. Comparing the two there is definitely some differences. The glue in the back and front of the book that is on the hardcover is all bubbled. Not recommended.

I purchased two of these books for my children many years ago. I purchased the book this year for my grandson for Christmas. This is not your ordinary Dr. Seuss book. It is the story of the owner. On the front of the book there is a picture of the owner. The colorful pages spaces for the owner to describe himself/her and their personal likes and dislikes. For instances you are given a space for the number of your teeth, the steps in your house, your best friend, your favorite food and your most disliked food. I wrote my children's answers in the book as they were too young to write when they filled out the book. We had such fun counting teeth and running around counting the steps of our home. It took more than one session to complete the book and sometimes my children thought about their answers and wanted to change them. Over the years the children and myself have re-read the book and are amazed at some of the answers. It gives a clear picture of the person that child was when they completed the book. I watch my grandchild regularly and I intend to help him-age 5- to complete the book. I have already purchased this book for my granddaughter who turns one soon.

I was happy to find this book still on the market as I had recieved one of these books from my grandmother when I was six and had fun filling it out with my mom. I still have the book although it's not in good shape after all these years. It is still fun to look back and remember what I was like when I was a young child. I plan to get one for each of my children and another for myself to transfer my childhood information into before my old one is completely lost.

It's like a baby keepsake book, but for older kids to do themselves. I'd been thinking about ordering it but then saw it at target and actually looked through it, it's so cute! It'll definitely keep your kid busy for a bit, going around the house counting how many keyholes and spoons there are, tracing their foot on the book, writing about their best friends and favorite teacher.

I love this book. I think that the authors really have done it this time. They have shown kids that they are somebody, and not just with a vague image. They have shown them by using every detail, and the child realizes on his/her own what a wonderful person he/she is. I really love it. And I would recommend it to anybody with children. Even teens would love it. It is wonderful.

Wonderful book! I've bought three copies over the years for three of my kids/grandkids when they were 5 or 6 years old. It's their book, to write the answers in (in fact the first thing is to have the kid write his name in it!), to read and figure out, etc. Highly recommended both for the parent/grandparent - and, more importantly, for the kid.

I found a copy of this book that was given and done by my hubby when he was a little boy. It is so cute to look back on. I loved it so much, I had to look it up for my 2 children. I found it and now my 9 year old son has one, my 7 year old daughter has one and I have ordered one for my little baby on the way. It is a family tradition with us. We love it and it is fun to run around the house and to talk with your child to fill out the pages of this memory book!!

I bought this for my 5 year old son & he loves it. Questions include what they look like, tracing their hands and feet, address, phone number, what they want to be when they grow up, favorite pet, getting autographs of different ppl, their house (how many windows, doors, forks, etc). There are so many fun questions kids love to answer and coloring in the book, is a plus!

My mother bought me this book when I was a little girl (about 6 or 7). At the time I was learning to play the violin, but absolutely hated it. I tried in various ways to tell my parents this...even going as far as to tell my mom when she was pregnant that what I really wanted was a cello. None of my requests to switch instruments were heard until one day my grandmother happened to look inside this book. There is a page which asks you what your favorite instrument is. I of course had scribbled out the violin and circled the cello. Well, with the help of this book, and my grandmother, I finally had my wish come true, and started on the cello. I have been a cello teacher now for 19 years, and when I saw this book, (I was looking for a book for my own children), I remembered what a difference it made in my life. I also remember the book being a lot of fun to do as a kid, and I still have it!

My older son got this book as a gift several years ago, and my youngest son was reading it this morning and wants one of his own. I'm so glad I found it! It's sort of like a baby book the kids can fill out for themselves. Some of the things the kids fill in are "my hair is ________" and I live in a (city, suburb, town, etc.) And it's all in the wonderful prose of Dr. Seuss. Then they can draw pictures on some pages and color already-drawn pictures on others. I've enjoyed looking back at some of the things my now-eleven-year-old said when he was five! I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to give their young children the opportunity to create a memory book for themselves for their growing up years. It's great!

I recieved this book just after I learned to read (25 years ago)! I loved completing all the tasks (I still remember counting every fork in the house). Being allowed to write in a hardcover book was the greatest for a 6 year old! I look back on the book and know it will be a wonderful memory for me to share with my son about his mommy's childhood! And I'm sure he'll enjoy filling out his own copy too! I'd HIGHLY recommned this book for ANY and EVERY child! But make sure they keep it forever to share with thier children! It should never end up at a used book sale!

My husband had this book as a child in the late 70's, and my sister found the same book in the store and bought it for my oldest son about 5 years ago. It has been so fun for my son to fill out the book. We still have Daddy's book to look at from when he was little, so that is fun! I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting their child to have an enjoyable and interactive activity. It also serves as a wonderful keepsake for later on. They have fun things in it, such as "How many steps is it to the mailbox?" and "How many windows are in your house", as well as questions about what you want to do when you grow up and your interests. Love this book!

I bought one of these for each of my kids to complete when they were 5 ... although my daugter is waiting until a first tooth comes out to fill hers out! (soon we think... but she might be 6 first!) It is fun and a great book to keep around to read later. We also bought one for a friend recently who was in the hospital for 6 mos 1200 miles away from most of the family for a bone marrow transplant (only mom moved with her for this period), it was great for her to be able to give a task to a brother or sister at home each day (ie, hey count how many forks are in our house)to get her book completed. Mom reported back that she absolutely loved teh book.

I'm expecting my first child, and my parents sent me the copy of this book that my brother and I filled out 20 years ago. The best part--he wrote in pencil and I wrote over (in red pen, of course) 4 years later.
This book is excellent not only as a keepsake, but also for helping children with counting, exploration, writing stories and self-discovery. In a way that only Dr. Seuss books can, it combines education and fun! Get several--and fill it out each year!

We LOVE this book! It was a Christmas gift for my 6-year old son and he spent half the day working on it after opening his gifts, nearly finishing it. It basically is a fill-in-the-blank type book and the child answers questions on each page pertaining to themselves. My only complaint is that it isn't long enough! My son kept very busy counting forks, windows and steps in our house and is now working on collecting autographs. I think it will be a lot of fun to look back on someday and I had this book as a child and remember it fondly.

Reflecting upon my childhood, recalling distant memories--it's such a wonderful experience. I plan to buy this for my own daughter, and let her enjoy it and experience it as well. My mother recently gave me a box of stuff from my childhood...one of the items was this book that I completed when I was 8. My two boys, ages 6 and 8, loved it! Granddaughter Julia and I had lots of fun "Camping." "Camping" to 6 year old Julia means we sneak away to a quiet part of the house where no one else is and read books, tell stories, sing songs, play with flashlights - just to name a few of the many things we might do "Camping." One time Julia brought her 16 year old sister's book MY BOOK ABOUT ME. Julia was awe-struck to see sister, Domonique's, printing and six year old opinions. She want to write HER own thoughts and opinions in Dominique's book. When I suggested we might see if the book was still in print and order Julia her very own copy, Julia loved the idea. We left our "camping" space and went to the computer and checked out the store. Sure enough, we could order the book. How very exciting. We marked the calendar about how many days it might take for the book to arrive. The book arrived two days before our expected date. There was great dancing and jumping around when the book arrived. Julia danced and jumped around too. Immediately she grabbed a pencil and set to work to write in her very own answers. This was a fun project for Grandma and Granddaughter. It was also a sweet connection between the 16 year old sister and the six year old sister. Grandmas love these experiences.

Birthday. One year later it is chocked full of information
about her. Each page requires the child to write or draw
things about their house, school, friends, family, clothes,
food, toys, etc. I am surprised by the LOW cost of this
treasure. It is a great activity book for any age child and
once it's completed, it provides on-going entertainment. I

I was delighted to find it still in print, so ordered a copy for each of my grand children so that "their" children may have a similar delightful experience reading about them thirty years from now.
It is a fun book to fill in with large Dr. Seuss illustrations and silly suggestions. I'm hoping it will be a favorite Christmas present for them this year.

My Book About Me

This book is great! My young reader loves the interactiveness of being able to count all the steps in the house, find out the color of his eyes and tell all the things about his life at this moment. I'm thinking about adding some scrapbook pages for each year for some of the questions that will change over time.

The best part is, I can show him My Book About Me that I completed in the 1970's.

I had done this book as a little girl way back when....I have a 10 year old son that saw this book when he was about 5 and we ordered him a copy. He loves looking back at the simple things like how many door knobs I had and how many he has. We just had a little girl and one of the first things he asked me to get her was her own book, we can't wait until we can watch her fill it out! I wish I had had this book when my son was little. It is a great book for small children to learn from and to tell about themselves at the same time. I plan to use portions of it to base a scrapbook on to give to the small children in my family so they can create their very own memory book about themselves.

I had this book as a little girl...and 30 years later, I still have it. I bought this for my son from the "toothfairy". He's 5 and can write basic ABC's, numbers and count. Very fun to fill out, keeps a high energy child very interested. This book provides many fun activites in order to be able to answer the questions in the book. His favorite part is fnding people to put their autographs in one particular section.

A must have for anyone with a child who can do some basic writing and counting.

as a child i loved this book and my children all three have enjoyed it also. It's a blast to do with your child and if you make a point of doing one a year you can make a fabulous library that not only they will enjoy but also their children will love. the best way to buy a toy or a book, i have found is to find something that i loved as a child, if its still around then someone doing something right.

I bought this book for my little grandson (5 years old) and he has great fun with it. The first thing he did was draw what he thinks his nose looks like! He uses it a lot and tries to emulate his older brother in writing and collecting snippets.....

I loved this book as a kid and still have it. I bought it for my daughters and all of their friends. Kids get to talk about themselves and explore their bodies changes, where they live and who their friends are. Really fun to do together and see how much they change over the years.

I am so excited about this book. Recently, we found the same book from when my husband was about 7 years old. We read it and laughed! We immediately got two for our daughters so that they would have something to look at when they are in their late 30s. I recommend it to everyone who has children! It's their own words and ideas.

This book I recently "rediscovered"! Bought one about 25 years ago as a gift...but forgot about it until that person brought it to my attention recently. You can buy this book "sight unseen" and you will NOT return it!! The grandkids all loved filling in the blanks about themselves.

My grandson age 8 got this book when he was youger and granddaugter age 5 loves to read it every night. She just loves it. I got her one so she could have her own book. It's a book that the child and parents will treasure. It's well worth the money.

I am 45 and recieves this same book for my 6th birthday. I loved it so much and wanted my children to experience the same love of this book and Dr. Seuss! I ordered four for all family members and all of the kids are very happy with this book!

I am so happy that this book is still being printed! I still like to flip through mine and see what I wrote as my favorite song was when I was 6, how many freckles I had, etc... I urge any parent to buy this book for their children-- It creates the greatest memories and it is also fun for the kids.

Cute book that can be used to encourage students to tell about themselves when they are the stars of the week or when school is just beginning and the teacher could use it to tell about herself and then use it as a writing assignment

I recieved this book when I was seven years old. Now at thirty-six my daughters love to go through it and find out about me when I was their age. It's fun for me too!! I bought two of them for my girls for Christmas. I'm sure they'll love it like I did and their children will love it in years to come.

Have given this book to all nieces and nephews (25 so far) since 1970. I give it to them when they turn 7 years old. They each have filled it in in their own way but all have kept theirs as a keep sake.

I cannot believe all the positive feedback that this book has gotten. Yes, some of it is cute but has anyone noticed that on the page "what I want to be when I grow up" the author includes BURGLAR. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't want my grandson aspiring to be a burglar, nor do I consider that a profession. I do not think it is cute or funny. I'd bet that Dr. Seuss is turning over in his grave! I would never buy it for my children and if they got it as a gift, I'd send it to the publisher and demand a refund! As it is, my grandson's parents were not aware of this page.
