Such a rewarding experience in comic books. Wonderful story arch, very mature story for passionate fans of the Pokemon series. Red is much cooler than Ash! I loaned it to my two other friends who extremely enjoyed it as well. Buy this if you enjoy pokemon!

Amazing! I bought this for myself, and I love it! I definitely recommend it if you are looking for the whole set. Its cheap and the books are great quality. If you buy each book individually its more around $70, so buy the whole box set if you want all the books.

Got the package between the set dates, and the package is in factory conditions. I'm very happy and as a Pokemon and manga fan, I can definitely recommend this to anyone else who is interested in Pokemon and manga

I read most of the Pokemon Adventures manga online, but I really wanted to find print copies to read as well. I was very excited when I found this box set, and I could hardly put the books down once I got them. A must-read for any fan of the games, and a must-have for anyone like me who was limited to reading scans.

This is definetly a must have for any Pokemon Adventures fan. If you're like me and don't want used book than buy this bad boy. It's better than buying each volume separately plus you get a poster. The poster is small though but I don't count it in the review. All I care about are the books, which are a blast to read

I love Pokemon so I was really excited to get this set, it was a great price for all seven books, and really fun to read through the adventures of some of my favorite characters. I would recommend it ten times over to anyone who likes Pokemon!

I'm a big Pokemon and comics fan so it would make sense that I'd be interested in this. Upon arrival it was shrink wrapped and pristine. It includes the complete run of the first generation series and in traditional manga fashion is to be read right to left (this is good because editing manga to be read the western way often distorts the art work and panel placement). The one thing I didn't like is that the "posters" that came with it were about 5 inches by 9 inches. I really didn't care because until I received the set I had no idea a poster was included. If like the Pokemon world and want to read an exciting adventure separate from the show or games, get this now! If you want to get this just for the poster... I'd urge you to reconsider.

Awesome stories. Great art. My favorite window into the world of pokemon. The only draw back is that the box the set comes in is pretty thin. Its made out of some type of card stock material but looks nice and does its job.

I like Pokémon since 1998 and counting! Back in 2003 I was introduced to the japanese manga by a friend, but alas... I didn't knew japanese *laughs* and I still don't!
Those old versions we're not good enough by what I saw and reviews as well, although ChiangYi's version translate's from English until Vol 7 and Japanese->Chinese->English from Vol 7 up.
These new versions is fairly good! I do recommend to all of you who likes Pokémon, too! As the manga is very superior to anime, which never loses focus os appealing 10yo childs, and its story vastly more appealing.

This series is fantastic. It has a feel good art style and a great story. Great for anyone 10 and up, especially Pokemon fans.
The packaging is great and comes with a small poster and a box that all volumes fit nicely in and looks nice on the shelf.
The price is fantastic. Most Viz volumes run at 8.99 per copy. That would be over 60 dollars. But this puts seven volumes in one place for under 35 dollars, including a poster.
Bottomline, great story, art and price. Recommended for anyone looking for something affordable to read.

It's really good to finally have the manga Pokémon Adventures in a box like this! Besides the excellent quality of the story and art of the original work, Viz Media did a really good job with this one. The Volumes are all very beautiful and the translation is pretty accurate. The decision to keep the Japanese format. I sure am going to buy the Gold & Silver and Black & White Boxes and I'm already looking forward to the Ruby & Sapphire sagas. Reading these old stories now is like going back in time and relive in a totally new way our Pokémon journeys.

Two of my teens have been fans of the Pokemon franchise since they were young, playing the video games & the trading card games. My 14 yr old asked for the books, but his older sister is also reading it with him and they're enjoying the series. She'll read anything (and does) so that's no surprise, but he's a tough customer to please. He's picky about his reading matter, but as a Pokemon fan he's enjoying this series, he's already on the 3rd books and he only got them about 10 days ago for Christmas. Nice boxed set with attractive holder, too. Makes a nice gift and is a lot better than purchasing them individually.

I would recommend this product to anyone who enjoyed the Pokémon games (specifically the first generation games). This is possibly the best manga I've ever read.
To be honest, I didn't expect much from it. I figured it would follow the game exactly and wouldn't be all that interesting, but I was very wrong.
Although it is suitable for all ages, in that it doesn't contain any inappropriate content, I wouldn't recommend this for a child under the age of eight or nine and to be honest, I enjoyed this better at the age of 19 than I probably would have as a child. Seriously, this is something young adults can enjoy too.
So worth the purchase.

A straightforward Pokemon manga appropriate for my higher-level reading child who is about to turn nine. The format was slightly confusing for him at first but he caught on quickly and is quite happy. These books are easy for him to re-read and keep his attention multiple times. Highly recommended for kids who love Pokemon.

My son absolutely loves Pokemon. As a parent I just don't get it, but he was ecstatic to get these books. Be advised these start at the back of the book and work towards the front unlike other books. My son was well aware of this and it didn't stop him from devouring the set in a day.

Super cute! Any Pokemon fan should have this old or new, young or old, a Pokemon fan would enjoy this regardless of how long they have been a fan. They will have to release that it is a MANGA so it reads like a MANGA. Seriously like it says how to read it in the description before you buy it. All the critical reviews didn't pay attention to that. It's super cute as far as art style goes, the storyline is engaging. 10/10 I need the next one

I remember the first time I saw Pokemon and reading it feels more into the story and most of the book stores around really never carried these books and seeing it on the store I knew I had to get them to see what I was missing out on, overall way different from the old school anime

My son loves Pokémon. This was a great gift for him. I cant remember if the books were brand new, they certainly looked like it. He just loves this series. He can't stop talking about the plots, regions, stories...

i've read the first edition of this and it is way better because in the first edition it has a more serious vibe to it, but in this edition its eehh, childish, and yes, i know its intended for kids but i just wish it was a little more serious like in the first edition, and i wish they kept the original chapter titles like "Vs. Mew" or "Vs. Electabuzz" but anyways, i like it!

My 8 yr old son loves these books he has had them for 2 wks and already finished three of the seven books...I however was a little disappointed that the books are backwards so you have to read them well backwards lol but luckily my son don't mind and if he ever travels to England or whatever it won't be a complete shock lol

You have to look very closely to understand this reads right to left Japanese style. That's very difficult for a seven through 10-year-old to remember! And you can't figure it out from the description unless you look very closely and see that it says reads R to L. Seriously what are they thinking printing in English and having it read right to left.

Lately there have been a rather large number of unfair 1 star reviews for this particular product. While l understand that some reviewers seem justified in making their assessments and come from a good place, l think a lot of the negative comments had to do with lack of research or knowledge of the product.
Pokemon Adventures is essentially a manga. Manga is a Japanese art form, basically Japanese comics. It has it's unique style and presentation. Mangas are commonly black and white and this one is no different. They also read right to left, which seems to throw off some people. A quick online search would tell people what they need to know before being disappointed. That's why l'm sitting here writing this review, to defend the series and inform.
I grew up with Pokemon in all forms. First the Red and Blue video games, then the anime cartoon and soon enough l found the manga and couldn't get enough of it.
With it's cute art and clean, innocent humour featuring our favourite little pocket monsters, Pokemon Adventures is a good comic for all ages. It is however, a little darker than the anime or the video game. You see Pokemons getting killed, not overly graphic but you'd have never found that in the television show. It's also interesting to note some of the contrasts and comparisons with not only the show, but also the video game and how much it differs in some aspects and is similar in others.
The comic series also costs less -significantly less- than it did when l was younger where a single manga was close to 20$. At $29.99 for all 7 books, this is well worth it. Pokemon Adventures Red And Blue remains to this day my favourite Pokemon comic series. It's also worth exploring the further adventures like Gold & Silver but the beginning is a great place to start.
This is a fine series with great dialogue, elegant art and enjoyable story lines. Is Pokemon Adventures worth purchasing? Yes, as long as you know what you are getting. If your children enjoy Pokemon or if you're curious yourself, it is worth the purchase. A highly fun and addictive manga with a great price to boast. 5 stars.

Mangas are always great, but this is amazing. Unlike the Anime or Games, the Manga takes a story all on its own. The story is a deep one. With great characters, and mysterys, the pokemon Manga is excellent. For someone who always loved pokemon, the Manga is one of my favorites.
The story starts of with Red,a young boy who becomes a trainer and goes around looking for pokemon and trying to catch 'em all. Red has a very special friend,Pika the Pikachu. Red always cared for it,just like Ash,through their very different characters. Red has a rival,Green. He trains pokemon into unstoppable tanks,. Green was serious. But Blue is different. She's around the same age as Red and Green. She is sassy, and very smart. She isn't a batter, but a strong fighter with smart moves. In the American version,it's Red the main character,Blue the rival, and Green the girl. This is because Red and Blue were the American versions. Not Red and Green. The real characters are in the original Japanese versions. Red,Green, and Blue. That's why I read the original version.
Anyways, this Manga has more from the Anime. Some of the stuff in the games are in the Manga. Like the main character. But,Koga,Sabrina, and Lt.Shurge are in Team Rocket.(three gym leaders).(Plus Giovanni, the boss of Team Rocket). Are in Team Rocket. Misty,Brock,Blaine, and Erica are the ones that aren't in Team Rocket. All of the gym leaders in Tema Rocket are brutal, trying to kill Red. Plus, the story even explains about Mewtwo too.(You might be surprised who or people who made him). A whole story with Mew is in the beginning.(my favorite pokemon!!!!:)). Some crazy things happen around Kanto too.
The whole thing about the Manga is great. If you love pokemon, buy this. If you love Manga, get this. But,get the Japanese version. One of the funniest Mangas ever.

WELL.... I wish I had known these weren't TYPICAL CHAPTER BOOKS!!!!
These books are MANGA books and extremely difficult to read if you aren't used to them.
I was looking for QUALITY chapter books for my 7 year old Pokemon Lover and I didn't get what I wanted.
We will keep, because returning is a pain. But they NEED to clearly explain that these are MANGA BOOKS!!!!

Bought for Granddaughter. You know little girls (nine years old) and their Pokémon. She has quite a collection of Pokémon stuff. Not like the baseball cards I used to collect from penny bubblegum. This stuff is way more expensive.

Bought thinking it would be a good way to get our 2nd grader to read more. Ordered on my phone, and didn't catch the fine print that the books are written "right to left" (or back to front, for a standard US book). The comic also reads right to left on the page, so even more complicated for a new reader to decode. Oops. My fault for not noticing it, but kinda a bummer.

I remember this comic being one of the first ones I ever bought when I was younger. And now they're all in one box together. This brings back good memories and the story is really good to follow as well if you love Pokemon. Also pretty violent in some scenes; makes a lot if it seem more realistic. Pretty badass. Would recommend to anyone.

I was very excited to finally get these books at my doorstep. Unfortunately, the box holding the books was badly torn in two places, and several of the books corners looked smashed and slightly torn. It also took 20 days after I ordered them to arrive with free shipping.this is the first bad experience i've had with the store and i hope its the last.

I bought two sets, one for each of my grandchildren. I was very dissappointed when I gave the first set to the first granddaughter that all the books were in black and white. I will be giving the other set to the other grandchild at Thanksgiving. Not happy about this. There was no mention of B&W in the description. I was hoping to order the second set for both granddaughters, but decided against spending another approximately $35.00 for each.

My 9 yr old has never read these comic books before so he really wanted this until he received it. All the pages are in black and white. Each page is full of so many drawings that it looks so crowded and hard to read. I guess there's too much action on each page. My son hasn't even read one full book and doesn't care for them now.

I'm sure this book set is very entertaining, but not for American kids who are learning to read (or any children who traditionally read right to left). These books are VERY confusing for younger kids (my sons are 6 and 8). We will be returning them.
