I don't usually like sci-fi type reading but this series caught me by surprise. I like it a lot. What I don't like is that it is a series, all by the same author, and some of the events are totally out of sync. Max is part bird and in one book it states that she can't reproduce like a human. She and Fang become a couple and then Fang dies in two of books. She is left pregnant in one (Fang later is resurrected) and has a baby girl by what seems to be human reproduction. In the other book Fang dies and she lays two eggs later. I think a series should follow a path of continuity of some sort.

I wasn't sure if I should buy it or not so I just borrowed it from the library, I also loved the cover, anyway I wasn't sure since that last book was a huge letdown. A huge reason why I liked this series was because it's funny, this book was funny but yet again I was disappointed. And A BIG SURPRISE this time none of the flock got kidnapped but it was Max's mom this time. In this book they go underwater because they believe that Mr.Chu is up to no good and he's planing something and also to save Max's mom, and this book is yet again a book about not destroying the environment. These books just keep getting awful and awful.

While I have found the Maximum Ride novels interesting and fun, this book was too cute for me. If the author's purpose was to write to young, teenage girls, then he probably hit the mark. If he was going for the adult, age 30 and above, crowd, he missed the mark. The speech and interaction of the characters was just too trite. I'll read another Maximum Ride novel, but if it is the same as this one, i will just forget about this series. After all James Paterson does write some other interesting novels!

Yep, this series, specially the last two books have been all about contradictions. They're in a sub for most of the time and there are a lot of contradictions about water pressure, first the shoot a man put into the water and he's crushed. Then angel comes out into the water and she's fine. then, towards the end, max says that she shouldn't go out of the water because she'd be "crushed like a pancake" seriously. That just pisses me off. And the fact that they're still messing around with the global warming crap? ugh. I only listened to this because my boyfriend bought it (hes been reading the series since they came out) and even he was disappointed with everything after the 3rd book. I honestly think Mr. Patterson should just write one last novel (I'm not sure if the 6th is the last) and end this series with the little dignity it has left. Reading these books used to be exciting. Now all I'm getting is global warming and pollution propaganda, what's up with that? If I want to read about global warming I will go buy a book that was written by scientists, people who know what they're talking about. Not get informed through a damn children's book.

I have read the entire Maximum Ride series without a single disappointment, and this on is not an exception. I thought that it was a great fifth novel, and I was astounded at how many bad reviews it got. Max:A Maximum Ride Novel in my opinion is the best of them all. It had romance between Max and Fang, suspense about what was going to happen to Dr.Martinez, and a whole lot of discovery when they found their new additions. I really liked how James Patterson included comedy, romance, and action, the three traits I love to have in a book. Now, if you haven't read the rest of the series, this book might be confusing. But, all in all, a fantastic read. I can't wait for the sixth one! (March 15, 2010)

I was hoping that this book would be an improvement from The Final Warning. And it was...barely. This book has lots of good ideas and concepts, but it's just way too rushed. There's hardly any detail or depth. It looks like it was hastily strung together. I'm starting to think that James Patterson just writes books as fast as he can so he can publish and print them as best as he can. This is a good story, but it's so sloppy and at times there are plot holes. It wasn't a complete disaster, there's action and suspense and comedy and a growing romance between two characters (Max fans probably know who). Lots of teen drama. But it could have been A LOT better.

"Max" is the fifth book in Patterson's "Maximum Ride" series for teens. Max is a fourteen year old "bird kid" (a human-bird hybrid) who is in charge of her "flock" of several other "bird kids" younger than she is. Not only do we have the plotline of Max's mother being kidnapped, but we also have the plotline of dying marine life near Hawaii. Max and her friends, with the help of the U.S. Navy, must solve both problems. The "Pattersonian" short chapters and fast pace keep things moving.

However, I, like other reviewers, wonder about some inconsistencies followed up with, "Well, we're bird-kids." They aren't totally human, no, but are they SuperKids? Be prepared to suspend some disbelief there.

Like the other books in the "Maximum Ride" series, this book is an appealing, fun romp, but readers had better be prepared to suspend some disbelief and just ride along with Maximum Ride and the flock.

I avidly read the Maximum Ride series, and felt, if anything, let down and sorely disappointd by this book. I love Max and the flock, which was why I was so disappointed by this book. It wasn't about the flock. It was about Max and Fang, with a little about the other members of the flock tossed in for effect. And really (*spoiler alert*) who wasn't disappointed and a bit angry when Max just let Nudge leave the flock without even putting up a fight? Really, that was quite possibly the lowest point of this book. Other then that, I must say I was glad Max wasn't cramming global warming down our throats like the last few books, but the topic still clung like a baby koala to its mother. James Patterson, if I wanted to read books about global warming, I would choose "Global Warming for Dummies" or some such waffle. This book was okay, which is why I am giving it thee stars, which may have been a bit generous.

I have read the Maximum Ride series many many many many many many times and after a long consideration, decided this was my fav in the series. It has the perfect romance, to action, to comedy, to adventure ratio. Some of the things in this book made me LOL. Others made me swoon. When you are reading, you feel what Max is feeling, you can almost picture it. This is my favorite book which is in my favorite series. If I could say one thing to James Patterson it would be me begging him to write a ninth book in this amazing series!

Okay, is it me or have no decent Maximum Ride books been written since the amazing 3rd book? I hated The Final Warning like most, but in my opinion Max was not much better.

Although Max didn't push global warming in our faces like Final Warning, it was pretty present and annoyinly so. I don't think that James even intended the series to be about global warming in the first place, but simply had to think of a purpose for the Flock. I think he could have picked better. The world has been around a long time before we came and it's....... sorry, I won't continue my rant.

Also, it was boring! I'm sorry but it seemed like most of the time the Flock was just hanging around. The first danger in the book just vanquished itsself, and in many other life threatening situations, Angel just told the threat to back off. And besides that, the Flock lacked their previous snark. They used to make me laugh out loud (which prompted odd looks from fellow students), but whenever James tried to portray a flock member giving attitude, it just fell flat.

It wasn't very believable. I know, they're bird kids, whats believable about that? But Gazzy's inventions to keep off the enemy seemed unrealalistic, and you can't just explain every weird biological abnormality with 'hey, we're bird kids'. At least mention the scientists intending to submerge the kids in water at some point or wth ever, or that they were given something that made them evolve more rapidly, etc.. And don't change detail from previous books. Fang can't really be invisable, right? But when he stands still he can blen into his enviroment? But walking through a course isn't 'standing still',is it? Sheesh, James, make up your mind.

And I know that even though shes a bird kid shes still just a girl....but Maximum has said multiple times how much she hates the gooshy and the romantic, but oh she hug sways her sister and makes meal with her mom and she kisses Fang multiple times....and she still seethes with jealousy anytime the redhead doctor steps near them. And she thinks about Fang constantly! The is not the anti-vulnerability Maximum I knew and loved.

Oh and one last thing, like hel...ahem...heck the Flock of books 1-3 would allow Nudge to not go with them. I just don't see it.

So come on James, I know you have it in you or books 1-3 wouldn't have been so great. But 4 & 5 were really quite sad. Why don't you bring Max and the Flock back for one last, salvaging book, and while you're doing it give Iggy and Nudge a few more lines. Especially Iggy. He holds my heart. <3 lol.

Like a lot of other readers, I was skeptical picking up this book. The 4th book was about global warming and it was one giant political message. This book wasn't nearly as bad. There was still some global warming and pollution messages however, it's not nearly as bad. Unlike the 4th book, they had a purpose in this book. I don't want to spoil anything from the book, but this time around, the flock was working to actually save something important to them.
This book isn't perfect though. The book is focused around Max, Fang, and Angel. Some of the other characters, such as Iggy and the Gasman, were almost ignored.
Also, the flock seems to have a change in personality. Before, they were kids trying to survive, now they're brats. The flock was still sarcastic and funny, but they were mean to almost all of the adults in the book. All of the characters seemed a little off, like their personality changed between books.
There is definetly more romance in this book. I won't spoil anything. But, I can assure you that romance lovers won't be dissapointed.
Overall, it's not a bad book. Not great either. It's an improvement over the 4th Maximum Ride book. But the political message is still there. The characters seem a little different as well. But the book is still exciting and entertaining. I recommend this book to any of the Maximum Ride fans, you might want to save your money and wait for it to show up at the library.

Max has been beaten, bruised, thrown, punched, kicked and more, but the real pain happens when her mother is kidnapped by the unknown "Mr. Chu" as a way to make Max, the flock and her mother's new Coalition to Stop the Madness stop their environmental campaining. That's the basic premise of the book, and all the rest of the fighting and fleeing (and Navy trainig- a funny scene) come down to this. The book is really fast paced and well written, and it completely draws you into Max's stressed-filled, high flying life. I was really glad to see the relationship between Max and Fang moving forward as Max acknowledges some of her issues and hang-ups.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book, don't regret reading it, and even reread parts of it. But. I felt that waaaay too many new fantastical elements were introduced in this book. A talking dog with wings is one thing, but supersized monster fish that can blow snot bubbles which *contain air and oxegyn* at depths were the pressure is immense? That didn't work for me. Also, we keep meeting newer and newer (and therefore improved) robots or enhanced enemies and assasians, but Max and the flock seem to dispatch them with ever-increasing ease. Erasers could practically beat them, and these new improved versions can't? Again, this kind of bothered me.
I'd also really love an explanation for why so many people are out to destroy the flock. This book explains Mr. Chu, but previous books seemed to have enemies made to order that then disapeared. The Director, anyone?
But anyway, the books was tremendously enjoyable. And who knows? Maybe the next book will explain and resolve everthing.

In Max, the 5th novel in James Patterson's bestselling Maximum Ride series, the flock has to team up with the U.S. Navy to rescue Max's mom, who is being held captive in an underwater enemy base. This is my favorite book in the series so far, mainly because of the events during the flock's time at the Navy base at Pearl Harbor. In order to be allowed to go on a U.S. submarine, the flock has to recieve (totally unnecessary) special training. Since there's really no better way to rescue Max's mom, they (grudgingly) agree. I don't want to give anything away, but let's just say those Navy people never saw it coming! Well, I suppose that's what you get for trying to teach avian-human hybrids what they already know! Anyway, if I keep talking, I'll probably let go of some important details, so I'll shut up now. Happy Reading!

Although I had the fifth book from my local library, all ready to go, I was afraid to start.
But this book was not a major letdown!! In my opinion the best in the series.
Lots of action, humor, suspense, eh, romance??? Yes. Max and Fang have made it offical! It does get carried away, but not enough to ruin the book.
This is the order i like the books.
1: Max
2: Saving the World
3: School's Out- Forever
4: The Angel Experiment
5: The Final Warning
This is a great series. I'm glad J.P. turned it around for this book.

Well I just started the Maximum Ride series last year and I loved the first 3 books. The 4th one? Not so much.
After reading The Final Warning I was hesitant to begin this book? I was expecting another disappointing sequel. Boy was I wrong.
Firstly the romance in this book was annoying at first but further on it developed a purpose and not just a "I'm so in love with you and let's make out every five seconds."
Also the book had funny moments where I just felt like laughing out loud. I mean Total is a funny dog.
My only frustration was that Iggy and Nudge where almost ignored throughout also the entire book.
I recommend this book 100%.

Honestly... The maximum ride series is absolutely amazing. Theres not one moment that is dull. Every book has gotten me sitting on edge begging for more. There's only so many things that have already been said but this story is unexplainable. I love it and it may as well be my favorite series.

I cannot believe anyone would rate this book 5-stars. In fact, given the opportunity I would've gladly voted this book a zero or better yet, negative stars. I read this book to my eleven year old nephew thinking James Patterson must've produced a solid book we can both enjoy. As I got past chapter 1, I knew I was in trouble. As I continued to read, my mind kept wondering if Patterson was under such a tight deadline from his publisher that any crappy story would suffice. Even my nephew would periodically remind me of how dumb this book is. In summation, I know feel dumber for having read this. I'd relish a chance to sit with Patterson and ask him why such garbage can be produced from a formerly quality writer. This book was enough to turn me away from any Patterson novel again.

Overall with Max, Patterson has produced a decent story. The plot line is decent (much better than the last book I think), and there is still the characteristic humor that I have come to associate with this series. Nevertheless, Patterson overall lack of facts is what really annoyed me through out in the novel. I am in the Navy, and the portrayl of the Navy through out this story has so many holes in it, it's distracting....
To begin with, there are no LT Col. in the Navy... There equivalent is a LT. Commander. Second of all, A LT. Col. would never call a LT Ma'am , as a LT ranks below a LT. Col. Third of all the training that the kids had to go through to get on the ship doesn't exsist. Atleast not what they went through. Fourth, the navy doesn't have tanks... The army does, and the marines (which IS a sub section of the navy, but they are on a different base in Hawaii). Fifth, Kids would not be issued khakis. Sixth, at the time of this novel, no women were allowed on Submarines, and one of the techs was a woman on the sub.
I know these things are knit-picky, but because Patterson's overall portrayl of the Military seems to be kind of downcast, I felt that he should atleast get the facts right. It screws up his credibility of the save the environment messege.

Patterson is to be commended for this highly original and addictive concept from its inception. Good stuff right up to the sermon in Final Warning. I expected further character development at least, but all of them are beginning to "cardboard out." His villains are flat-lining as well. Max is more entertaining than Final Warning, but still retains the preaching to a tiring degree. I'm a die hard fan of these characters, but it's taking more and more effort to keep from skimming huge sections.

This book definately held my attention better than the last. The last book seemed to rush torwards an ending. This one on the other hand was well put together. The characters attitudes changed into an expected rebellious attitude torwards authority. This attitude was definately more prevelant in this book than the last. This book seems more focused on Max and Fangs relationship and how it is developing. It definately had some romance in it but still kept to its "Sarcastic I'm gonna kick tail" attitude.
All in all it was an outstanding book and I would recommend it to any and all of the Max Ride fans

This book is one of my favorites. I've seen many reviews on this book that criticize the style of writing, saying it's too young, or not very good. Honestly, I dare them to write something better! Have them try to sit down and write a good, well thought out book and get it published. I think that James Patterson did a great job on these books. They are for anyone, not just middle school kids. The books have action, convey a good message about global warming and pollution, and wrap it up into a kick-butt book! I love this series, and would definitely recommend them for ANYONE!

Sorry. I'm 13. I ran out of actual thinking brain cells and had to add this at the end:
TEAM DYLAN ALL THE WAY, BABY!!!!!!!!!!

Max and the flock are at it again - this time to save the seas around Hawaii. It's amazing to me the mind of James Patterson in the creation of all the new creatures and the development of new "features" in the flock. An interesting read to say the least and highly recommended.

I love this whole series and im just starting on the book Max......I think there should be more about Max and Fang. My friends at school recomended this and so do I.This series is for teens and up. I'm even trying to get my mom to read it. Ohhh and parents, just because a book is in the young adult section doesnt mean an adult cant read it. Always look in the young adult section they have realy good books there. If you are into this series you might want to try to read the Fallen series there are two series named the same thing but they are both realy good. They are also longer reads.

this is mt favorite book in the mr series, just above the 3rd. i am 11 years old, and an avid reader. i was introduced to the seriesby my aunt,(who happens to be a librarian) and instantly fell in love with the series. i read all 5 books in about 2 days. mainly i particuarly love this book for the humor, such as: "this is my brain: 0 this is my brain after making out with fang: . " i also love it for the romance, because maxs and fangs relationship really develops and blossoms. tiny tin can of death, hahahahaha. i love maxs witty quips, i love her. i love fang even more though. i think the plot was well constructed and i believe jk chose the perfect time for their relationsip to start before frustrated fans started sending him mail asking why the heck fnag and max havent hooked up yet. a wonderful book, one of the best in the series. i owuld give it 1000 stars, but i think my kindle would overload if i went that high. i am eagerly waiting for the next book, fang.

Our favorite terrifically sarcastic freak kids, with lots of action... HOWEVER, the increasingly pervasive political/environmental message just cheeses it up. The average news-story-type message just sucks the fantasty/adventure right out of it. This started in Final Warning and becomes more of the story in Max. I skipped Fang's "earthy" blogs and if this keeps up, I'll be skipping future Max novels. Keep the activist messages out. Having said that, Max still delivers in humor, adventure, and sarcasm. Disappointing that the creativity doesn't follow through to the plot.

The Maximum Ride Series is a good set of books for young adults to read. Those who like action and suspense will especially like this series. I was mostly satisfied by the fifth book after waiting a few months, but there are still some things that were not finished or taken care of so it will take a few more months before the next book comes out. This book also jumped away from what usually happens in the books by having new obstacles and everyone all happy and getting along for a while. Although it was still good, I feel it could have been much better.

Looking at the cover summary, I was semi-dreading reading it. What if it was just like The Final Warning? AAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really, it was no. It wasn't. Not at all. Sure, there was an underlying message to care for the world, but this time, it didn't seem contrived (that way, it was actually a positive + message!)and didn't take over the book. Action? Yes. Funny? XD XD XD AHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAH!!!!!!!!!! It's been what? 3 weeks? And I'm still laughing! Romance? Mmmhmm. Was I satisfied and happy as a clam on crystal meth? I have no idea, but oh yeah, I was happy. In fact, I'd say it's the best in the series, and would absolutely recommend this to people. Seriously, though. Read it. 'Nough said.

As always, i love the thrill in picking up another great story filled with spunky silly and awesome flying mutant bird kids, but a whole lot changed since before. They're back, the six flying teens but with more additude, pointing out the same message as always, kids can save the world. But patterson put more detail into it, he seized the moment, making it easier for us to really see what a good book is. BEST BOOK EVER!!!!

"The Final Warning" (the previous book in the Maximum Ride series) didn't live up to anyone's standards for JP. "Max", however, blew me out of the park. This book is fast paced, humorous, exciting, with that perfect balence of family love and dramatic romance. Anyone who's put the Flock to rest after the previous book MUST read this one- as this is no disappointment!

This is my first Maximum Ride book and first Patterson book. I can't say I'm planning to read any more. There isn't much development of a plot in this book and lots of 'who cares'. Also, every other chapter had Max waxing poetic about her teen love interest. Give me a break.

Kudos to those who enjoyed this, but I definitely didn't.

Right now I'm already hooked to the adventures of Max and her bird kids, and the 5th book thrusts Max into further adventures, both of the thrilling kinds and the mushy, emotional ones... In this book, I might say, Maximum Rider & her flock is pushing the boundaries into the territory of the more traditional superheroes: defending justice, protecting the weaks and fighting various super villains...

Mr. Patterson has really created an exciting world full of interesting characters, and telling stories with superb story telling. He made the Maximum Ride books like a teenage lit with steroid, combining a story of the life of teenagers a la Ann Brashares' "Travelling Pants", combined with superheroes storyline worthy of the classic Marvel/DC superheroes and thrillers in the tradition of his own "Kiss The Girls" and "Along Come A Spider"

Highly recommended!

This book is awesome. Okay, so maybe it's not really a 5, more like a 4.5. It's not perfect, and the theme or conflict of the story is getting a little lost. The various books are starting to jump all around the space. Also, the way that the flock are suddenly starting to get new superpowers? That's kind of weird and requires some suspension of disbelief. However, this book still retains the humor and action of the pervious books. Max is still as funny and witty as before. Also, the whole Max-Fang thing is slowly picking up pace, which, in my opinion, is good. Awesome, even. So even though it's not one of the best Max books, it's still very much worth reading. Fly on!

I love love love these books so much. Theyre easily my favorite books ive ever read.
Ive read them about 5 times and each time i still laugh, cry, get angry, and get all heart fluttery. If youre reading the graphic novels read them and the books because they to me are both so amazingly good.
You HAVE to read these books

This book was absolutely incredible. FANG AND MAX trust each other now and are finally starting to admit they like each other. Plus the flock is well and they go on some amazing adventures. Read to find out more! It's totally worth it, and you won't be disappointed!

I must say, I was a little bit reluctant to pick up this book at first. I was disappointed by Book Four, and when I read this book's descripton, I didn't think it was going to be much better. Boy, was I wrong! James Patterson has redeemed himself by giving us back all the action and adventure we have come to expect from Maximum Ride. With plenty of action and just the right amount of romance, Patterson has regained my trust AND my interest. If you were put off by the fourth book and were convinced not to give book five a try, well - it's not too late to change your mind!

Max, book 5 in the series started off rather slowly by repeating many of the known facts from the previous books; however, midways through the momentum picked up and it got more action packed like the previous novels. Can't wait to read book 6: Fang.

My daughter and I listened to this book when we were on a several hours long car trip this month. It was totally absorbing; made the time pass ever so quickly. I would recommend it to any fan of the Maximillan Ride books.

I enjoy and like all james Patterson's novels but , I have especially liked the maximum ride novels. One thing I find that I'm drawn to is Maximums sense of humour and her witty sarcasm. I also find Angel adorable. My only wish is for these novels to be somewhat more lengthy.

I must admit, I had my reservations when it came to Patterson's 5th book in the MAXIMUM RIDE series. I mean, FINAL WARNING wasn't exactly Patt's A game....but once I sat down with the book, my feelings toward the series were renewed. Maximum Ride is a young woman who had become a science experiment under the cruel hands of twisted scientists. After experiments and studies and tests, her DNA is genetically altered with a bird -- this produced a hawkgirl. While being held captive, an kindly member of the demented scientist's core helps her and the other hawkkids escape. Max now leads this group of lost children who help her fight the evil organization, save the world, and reunite with her lost mother and sister.

When they do finally reunite, the hawkcrew is asked to perform some aerial stunts to raise money for a charitable organization -- they agree, and now the plot is set. Mr. Chu sends his cyborgs to snatch Max's mother and deliver a warning -- this warning comes in the form of a sniper's bullet. Well, after narrowly missing, Mr. Chu plants a message for the crew revealing Max's mother is hidden aboard a Navy Sub of the coast of Hawaii. This is merely a ploy, however, as he traps the crew inside the sub which is surrounded by unrecognizable monsters. I'll stop there, but book 5 definitely breathes life back into the series, that, let's face it, was getting stale. The action is non-stop, the twist and turns whip around at break-neck speeds. Patterson has a knack for delivering well-written action scenes while throwing in some of beat humor, and that is exactly what Max is.

MAX was so good! James Patterson has written a masterpiece that has everything a book could have. Action, adventure, a GIRL hero, a perfect amount of romance, and it even advocates for the planet in a way that makes you really want to help. The story is told in a believable way. You can understand her feellings about Fang and and Brigid Dwyer Nudge and how much she misses her mom. Her sadness, her jelousy, all of her feelings seem possible and probable and real to you. If you don't like it, you DEFINITELY should wonder what's wrong with your brain.

I still absolutely love this series and always will! Ahhhhh I just love how, finally, Max and Fang are together. It took sooo long for them to get there. I can't wait to read about them and the whole flock in the next book...speaking of which I'm off to read now!

Picking up this book, I was skeptical. Can anyone remember the fourth book, The Final Warning, and how much we all disliked it? I was ready for another 309 pages of disappointment.

But boy, was I wrong. This book is great, and the series is one its way to redemption. The story starts out slow, and actually, the whole first 50 pages don't make sense. But later on, the plot gets fast paced and exciting, and the romance will make your heart flutter (there's a lot more of it this time around and, in my opinion, I loved it... you can guess between who!).

There are messages about global warming, but there's so small and subtle that you have to squint to see them. It actually leaves you with a feeling that, "Oh, yeah, it does exist, and I feel bad," instead of, "Stop shoving it in my face, book!"

My only complaint was this: did there seem to be some favoritism in the characters? Like, I noticed the Gasman was centralized in the story and always there, of course in addition to first-person narrator Max. So was Angel and Fang. But there seemed to be a huge limited amount of Iggy and Nudge. Maybe it was just me, and if you happen to like those four characters, great. But I am an Iggy fan, and he barely had, like, four lines.

Anyway, the ending of this book was such a cliffhanger. I can't give away much without spoiling it, but please just go and read it. I cannot absolutely wait for the next one, now that I know the series is back on track and likely won't pull a huge flop like The Final Warning. Can the next book come any sooner?

Bravo, James Patterson, Max is glad to have to back on track!

Both my daughter and I read this series and both of us are waiting for next one (around 3-10) Verry appropriate for all ages- written in Patterson's no fluff style- which makes it an easy read for thos with short attention spans

I love all of the Maximum Ride books, but I usually think that Patterson is just making the series last longer. Number four (The Final Warning) was a huge disappointment to me. But in this book, there is a definite goal and plot and something actually happens with Max and Fang. This book is a lot better than most of the other books. And it still made me laugh out loud while I was reading it. :)

Love this series by James Patterson. a great fictional read for teens and adults. A little syfy for those who need it, with enough realistic life-molding situations to hold your interest and keep the pages turning.

yeah, I agree that the final warning was pretty dull and the whole thing about global warming was kind of annoying. But MAX was by far the best! Finally Fang and Max start their relationship that we have all been waiting for. Go max!!!

I have read most everything that James Patterson has written. Love these
spunky kids. I read all five books in the "Max" series in a few short days and came out the other side looking for more. You can't read just one.

The king of short chapters has written the king of bad books. Blatent political correctness runs amok. Talk about the doctrination of our children. Parents please don't do this. I TRIED to give it zero stars and wasn't allowed to.

The book is just an excuse for Max and Fang's romance which should've been written in on any of the previous books. The last chapters about rescuing Max's mom were terrible. They read like a very forgettable B movie. Being a fan, I did not expect this from Patterson.

I have been reading this for couple of chapters. It is difficult for me to understand the concept of a boy with wings, too futuristic for me, I want to stop reading it, but feel I must since I paid for it. I was very surprised that Patterson name would be on a book like this...I liked his old books better. I will be more careful in purchasing books on Kindle, this was my first read on Kindle 2. Sad.
