A great book to curl up on a couch or porch swing and follow the clues along with Rip. I am new to Rose Pressey but I am excited to read the series! A completely satisfying read. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Rose Pressey writes the paranormal with a normal twist. Her characters are so full of life that the reader feels they are acquaintances from their own lives. Definitely worth checking out anything by this author!

Great reading from a great author. Ms. Pressey's characters are always unique and well developed. The story lines are well written and the books themselves are technically well written. She is a great paranormal themed author. Can't wait for more!

Ms Pressey writes a great story. I love her work. Unlike her other books, this one had a number of issues with words left out and a story detail that changed along the way. The story itself was good enough to overcome the mild distraction so I gave her five stars for the entertainment.

Despite being a little rushed, this has the makings of a good series. Our heroine is just the right mixture of goofy and smart. I want the town and supporting cast to be fleshed out but I recommend this author's work. Thats why I gave four stars.

Wow as usual Rose Pressey shows what makes her such an amazing and well loved author. Ripley is a great character, I loved watching her ability to see ghosts grow as well as watching the progression of her relationship with handsome paranormal investigator and cop Brannon. Rose really knows how to keep you glued to the pages and as usual the only part of the book I didn't like was the fact that I finished it. Can't wait for the next book in this series. Rose has an amazing talent and a large following for a reason because she is a great talented writer. If you aren't a Rose Pressey fan, you will be when you are finished and then there are an amazing array of other Rose Pressey books to choose from. So trust me,
buy this book and leave yourself a few hours of free time because you will find it very difficult to put this book down.

I just had a hard time putting the book down. The ghosts and their way of communicating was so cool. The interchange between the ghosts and people was so cool.
The twists of the plot kept me reading.

Unfortunately, the book is boring. The writing is inept. We learn nothing about the victim until the last few chapters. This book is less a puzzle than a narrative of unimportant details. I really dislike reading books where the protagonist does stupid things, repeatedly. I kept hoping it would liven up, but it was a book with very little change of pace.
I will read the next one in the series, but if the writing doesn't improve, that will be it. I love paranormal mystery, but this one had very little mystery and the paranormal aspect wasn't exciting, scary, funny, or intriguing. It just was.

A new series for Rose. This one has a few new twists as well. Not wanting to be a spoiler lets just say some of the paranormal characters in this one have figured out how to use technology.
This is everything we have come to expect from Rose. Light, fun and humorous with some interesting characters and a quirky location. The only problem is that you will be sad when it ends.
Looking forward to the next in this new series.

This is the first book in a new series by author Rose Pressey. It’s about someone who can see ghosts. Ripley Van Raden (RIP) is her name. Her best friend Tammy and she have experiences together of solving murders and RIP sees ghosts, some are scary and some are friendly. RIP is the head librarian in the town of Devils Moon, Kentucky, where she also does walking haunted tours of the town and graveyard at night.
In this first book, RIP has to deal with a very mean assistant, Annie Gibson, the ghost of the librarian who was there when the library was first opened in 1884, the handsome new cop in town Brannon Landon, and of course a murder.
I love Rose Pressey’s books and this series is sure to be one of my must read series.

Rose Pressey did it again with her fast paced murder mystery. The ghosts featured in this series are very helpful. It was fun to watch Ripley come to terms with her new life in small town America. I really enjoyed the fact that the sexy, love interest was handled differently from her other stories. No spoilers, you will have to read to find out.

What it’s about…
Ripley Van Raden AKA Rip has returned to her hometown of Devil’s Moon as the main librarian, taking the place of a long-loved librarian. Always a hard place to fill. She’s also starting up a ghost tour in town.
Her first day at the library is BookWormers Club. Unfortunately, one of the ladies from the club took too large a step off the top of the stairs and ended up dead at the bottom. Officer Brannon Landon is asking questions about more than the dead body. Seems Officer Landon is interested in ghosts, too.
Can Rip figure out the messages she’s getting from the ghosts before someone in town makes her one?
Technical Tidbits…
The cover is similar to others Ms. Pressey has used for other books. Not as stylized, but still very attractive with the spooky dark scene in the back and the black and purple figure in front.
The storyline is great and very amenable to the creative twists and turns Ms. Pressey put it through.
The characters really could have used a bit more depth. Rip, Tammy, and Brannon should have been more defined.
The pace was fast. There wasn’t any lag at all in any part of this. Whether in the library putting books away or just walking to the pub, there was something happening or about to happen.
The tension was there from almost the first moment. Rip wasn’t sure the library wanted her in her new job. She wasn’t sure the town wanted her to start up the ghost tours. The only thing she was sure of was her BFF Tammy.
And this is where you STOP if you don’t want to see any SPOILERS…
The good, the bad, and the ugly…and how much it lit up my life… ✰✰✰✰⭒
The mystery was based on the books, but the books came into the story so late that there really wasn’t time to figure out what they had to do with anything. Though they really didn’t have anything to do with anything. They were supposed to lead you to the Grump. Somehow we were supposed to know the story about her mother. I don’t remember anything leading in that direction. No trail. I wish that part had been based more in the library.
Brannon Landon is really screwed up. In uniform, he can’t touch Rip. Of course not, he’s on duty. When he and the guys come with their equipment to scan the library he can’t touch Rip. Of course not, what will the guys think? I don’t know why he doesn’t talk to her sometimes when they are both out of work and no one else is around. Like after one of her ghost tours or something. He has to wait until the world is watching to kiss her? Until she’s almost given up on him? Ggrrr…men!
I loved the fact that Rip didn’t realize that Mrs. Clatterbuck was a ghost! She spoke with her and everything and she really thought she was still alive! Even after she went by the house she didn’t realize the truth. Brannon had to tell her. Wow.
This book had a sense of fun even when it was serious. Anne was a ghost, but she could only communicate via technology. Mrs. Clatterbuck. Brannon. And, of course, Ripley’s name was so appropo. I plan on reading at least one more book to see what happens after that kiss.

These Haunts Are Made For Walking: A Ghostly Haunted Tour Guide Cozy Mystery Book 1 Rose Pressey
Ripley Van Radan lives in Devil’s Moon Kentucky. Well she moved back there after she found her husband in bed with her now ex-friend. So she went home. Found a job at the local library and started a ghostly tour. Of course Devil’s Moon had to have ghosts first! Which of course it does. Her best friend knows she can see ghosts, or can she? Besides seeing the old librarian at the library it seems that Rip isn’t even sure she can see ghosts because she sure seems surprised when it happens.
Ms. Presseys books simply seem to not be well done unfortunately. The characters are not completely fleshed out well, the supporting people are so so, and emotions seem to be for teenagers. I don’t know. I seemed to like her Halloween Leveau books but i’m just not sure about the rest.

There are some good points to this book, but unfortunately they are outweighed by too many negative aspects: There is some bad spelling and grammar; The dialogue wasn't at all realistic; The way the police procedure was described; but the main issue I had with this book was that the lead character was just completely unrealistic, no boss is going to accept the way that the Leslie character spoke to her, and her reaction to the flirting from the police officer was just too immature for words.
This could have been a great fun read as the basic premise is actually very good, but it would need a major rewrite to make it as good as it could be, very frustrating!

The book was good. It was fun. The heroine, Rip, is a home town girl. She comes from Devil's Moon. She can see and talk to ghosts. She works at the local library and conducts haunted walking tours of the town. Her best friend is Tammy. Tammy is a little flighty but, believes Rip when Rip tells her about the ghost. Brannon is new in town and a cop. He is also interested in the paranormal and Rip. I enjoyed the way that the past and present combine. I also liked that the current corps is not the ghost in question. I also liked the twists and turns taken to discover the murder and why they did it. I am curious about the next book. I want to see if Rip can keep from appearing crazy.

I'm not really a fan of paranormal or ghost books but the title caught my eye so I decided to see what it was like. To my surprise, I enjoyed These Haunts Are Made For Walking! The story was entertaining and held my attention throughout. Characters were well defined and I like the interactions between Ripley and Tammy and Ripley and Brannon. I constantly confused Brannon Landon's name, thinking it was BranDON. My crime solving skills were put to task and I had an idea who the guility person might be early on.

Holy cow, what a dreadful book. I don't know him people are giving it 5 stars because I don't think they read the same book I did.
Slip shod pacing, poorly written and badly organized. The main males name Brannon Landon, wow, is just one small example of the lack of flow. Try saying it and you'll understand.

I loved this book, I found it quick moving. I really enjoyed the friendship of Ripley and Tammy, real and believable. I like the growing relationship of Rip and Brannon. This book has it all a murder, likeable characters, unlikeable characters, some oddball characters and ghosts popping in. I had a few laugh out loud moments. The mystery had me guessing and switching back and forth as to who I thought did it Yes, there were a few editing errors and typos but I could live with that because I enjoyed the story so much. Definitely going to continue on with this series and I'm going to check out her other ones.

Good book! A librarian that can see and communicate with ghosts. The issue of having to do as much as possible on her own could get her killed. Romance begins with a handsome police officer.Love the ghost walks. Really enjoyed this story and will read more by this author.

Cute book. Has a nice flow to it. Has nice story line. Hope that as the series goes on the books get more developed. There are some dropped words, maybe some out of place. Also, some sentence that seemed a bit lost. All in all good start to the series hope it gets better as it goes along.

This is another great read by well loved author Rose Pressey. As usual, the story is fresh and the characters are quirky. I love the little extra twist she put in this one, and hope it becomes a prolific series. I can't wait to see what this bunch gets up to next. As always, the characters are wholesome, and Ms. Pressey gives us a story we won't be ashamed to admit to reading. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who likes their paranormal served with a side of romance and just a touch of laughter.

Cute paranormal mystery with touch of romance. Rose Pressey tends to contrived plots. One of the things that disappoints me in her writing is the protagonists have extreme self-esteem issues. The setting was pretty great and the premise was a lot of fun.

Being the new head librarian if Devil's Moon, Tennessee and starting a little side business of showing people the haunted places in town just might lead to stirring up a few ghosts, but a murder too? Let's just see how many spirits it takes to discover who killed the woman in the library.

My library got screwed up and I reread this by accident. Mowing some of the events from the first read didn’t do any damage and it’s fun to return to a small town and it’s ghosts, especially one that you can’t visit in person.

Think of what you do if you finally go back home to start getting your life together and find that the ghosts in your old town are now talking to you? Well, this is the basis for a scary and interesting novel. I enjoyed the characters, ghosts and Ripley ( main character). There is a murder in town and since Ripley can hear ghosts, she is under the killers watchful eyes. Good book, and I will read the second book to this series. Recommended!

This book is easily five butterflies. I loved the quirky town of Devil’s Moon and the people of this small town.
Rip, returned to her hometown after she broke with her cheating boyfriend. I like that Rip is hurt but doesn’t let the baggage of the break up keep her from going about her life. She is effectively making her dreams come true with her Haunted Tours and being the head Librarian at the town Library.
Rip sees ghosts but doesn’t want to believe it at first. She is drawn to the paranormal as it seems a lot of people in Devil’s Moon are. After the death of a library patron Rip feels the need to find the murderer. She is assisted in this by her friend Tammy, Annie the first Librarian’s ghost and a few other specters. During the adventure Rip meets a handsome police officer…que the new love interest. Things get a little dicey at times, but Rip and Tammy figure it out whodunit and confront the culprit before another life is taken.
I really liked the characters. The story has the right amount of spookiness, mystery and a little flirtations. It’s the perfect cozy mystery, very nicely done, Ms. Pressey. I will definitely be recommending this one to my friends and reading the next book in the series: A Walk on the Haunted Side.

I generally like Rose Pressey books but this series was rough for me. I don't know if it was the editing department that dropped the ball or some one else, but, this series was really rough and choppy. The distinction when someone was talking wasn't always there so it got confusing if it was a thought or if the character was having a conversation with someone. Some of the chapters felt like they got cut off. The characters would be headed to a house to do an investigation and that was the end of a chapter and it was all of a sudden a new chapter new day sort of thing. So then I felt like I was missing some thing important in the story line. Other things were left out so there were times I was feeling left in the dark. Loved the charters and their personalities and the general idea behind the story lines. Would have loved to have seen more of a romantic connection between the main character and her beau. Not like the smut in most books. Which is part of why I'm a fan of her books but a little more development in their love connection. Would recommend this series after maybe some editing was done.

proof reads these needs to pay more attention. There are a lot
of dropped words, added words in the wrong places and some
sentences that make no sense at all. Otherwise, these are really
great books!!

I’m starting the second one just to see if it gets better. This one was a book with a lot of potential but no follow through. It didn’t seem as if anyone proofread it. Too many pieces were missing, she lived over a pizza parlor and then just a few pages later with no explanation she lived in a Victorian. The whole thing was a disjointed mess, but the story could have been good if someone edited it so I’m going to try the second and see if it gets any better.

Rose Pressey has the knack of spinning a good mystery that quickly books you and keeps you guessing right up to the end. Every book has rich characters that you can't help but love as well as villains you love to loathe.
On to the next book in the series. I may never get to sleep. Lol
