Shayla Black, I will never look at bread pudding the same again! Maybe I’ll have my own fun with it some day. ;)

I’m never disappointed by a Shayla Black book. It doesn’t matter the length or premise, I can always expect the same depth of character, sensuality, and well-developed storyline. Carson and Ella’s journey was fast-paced and along the lines of insta-lust/insta-love. But sometimes you just know... Carson and Ella were soul mates through and through. From that chance meeting so long ago, neither could forget how a few minutes of interaction made them feel. The circumstances that brought them together were the perfect opportunity to explore all the feelings that being near each other provoked. However, their little plan didn’t come without its pitfalls. This was definitely an emotional roller coaster, but one I was absolutely glad to be on.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Readers Copy of this book.

Wow! I really enjoyed this book.

However he is finding it hard to keep business going without getting a loan from his business rival Gregory Shaw. If Carson agrees on getting the loan he has to marry his daughter along with other conditions. Even though Carson is not in love with her. Instead of marrying his daughter Carson comes up with a plan two weeks before the wedding trying to convince Mr. Shaw that he was in love someone else.

Ella Hope is an actress trying to make ends meet. Along with taking care of her sisters in the process. When Carson calls her about a job opportunity she couldn't turn it down. However she never thought that she would have to make some tough decision with her heart and future.

This was my first by Shayla Black but not my first in the misadventure series. This one is however my favorite so far. The story follows Carson and Ella.
Carson inherits a candy company from his estranged father but it's in debt and he's doing everything he can to keep it afloat. In comes a rival who offers him money and a way out of the debt in exchange to marry his daughter. The problem is, his daughter is a college girl who would rather party and go through men than marry. There's no attraction there and so he looks for a way out. In comes Ella, a girl he lied to his rival about saying he was in love with her.
Ella desperate to make ends meet takes a role of being his fake fiance basically and they end up realizing there's a spark there.
It's kinda insta love but in a feel good way that makes you feel warm and fuzzy all over. I enjoyed this one in the series very much.

'Misadventures of a Backup Bride' by Shayla Black is book Four in The "Misadventures" series. This is the story of Carson Frost and Ella Hope. This book is a standalone book.
Carson inherited his fathers business but it and he needs money to get it up and going again. When an investor says he will give the money if he would marry his daughter...he reluctantly agrees. But then he back tracks and says he can't marry the mans daughter because he loves another. So he is then told to marry the women he loves instead of the daughter. Carson doesn't have anyone in his live that can be a pretend girlfriend.
Ella is an actress that needs money so when presented the job by Carson she accepts to be his fake girlfriend to bride. But sometimes when you pretend it becomes real.
This was a fun read but also one that was a quick one. Really enjoyed it!

Oh I love this book, it's a fun fast pace romance book with laughters and steamy moments.
A desperate man to save his company searching for a fake bride, oh yeah this one has interesting story.
It was supposed to be a fake relationship, but when the attractions is so deep and they're begin to feel more towards each other, everything become complicated.
I'm a bit dissapointed with the ending, but with all the smiles and laughters and some steamy moments, I really like this book.

As for characters. Love Ella and Carson. Their banters are my fav part in this book and I can feel the pull between them.

I love the story, I like the characters, so overall, I like this book.

If you're looking for insta-love romance with laughters, you must try this one.

This book started out really interesting to me. I like the fake fiancée trope and I thought this one had a ton of potential. Sadly, while the book was entertaining and a really quick read, it didn’t wow me the way I expected after the first chapter. I didn’t really connect with either of the characters. I also feel like the story moved too rapidly with insta-lust that turned into insta-love way too soon. There were some really strange twists the story, but also some really great moments that I enjoyed.

I’ve never read a book by Shayla Black before, but because I enjoyed this one, I will likely check out more by her down the road. I’m sure many people will really love this book. I think it’s a good, easy read with a bunch of sex scenes and some interesting plot lines.

Carson becomes wealthy overnight and is sacrificing his happiness for the company his father left him. He's given a chance to stop a disastrous wedding, and jumps at the chance to try to deceive his investor, that he loves someone else. He remembers a beautiful wannabe actress named Ella, and decides to hire her to play his love interest. Needless to say, sparks fly, along with sexual chemistry. As Ella and Carson try to navigate their new feelings, Ella must confront her insecurities. Can she let go of the past to let love in? You'll have to read it to find out!

Carson Frost is still adjusting to owning a successful confectionary. To get it out of debt and back to making millions, he’s agreed to marry the daughter of a competitor. Unfortunately, he and his competitor’s daughter have nothing in common and no attraction. When he comes up with the idea of hiring a bride to strike a new deal, he didn’t encounter his feelings taking part.
This was a pretty good story. The insta-attraction was well enough written that I felt it worked with this story and fell in with the time-frame of the story. My only problem was that it was somewhat hard to buy Ella’s quick feelings when she repeatedly showed a lack of trust and faith in people. Overall though, I did enjoy the book.

Misadventures of a Backup Bride by Shayla Black was such a sweet and spicy read.

In order for Carson to save his late father’s company, Sweet Darlin’, he needs an investor. Gregory, the investor who is willing to give Carson the desperately needed money demands that in return Carson must marry his daughter. The problem is neither Carson nor Kendra, the daughter, love each other and have absolutely no desire to marry. So Carson comes up with a plan to hire an actress he met a few months back. Ella agrees to help Carson out, but Gregory will make them jump through hoops to prove that what they have is real. In the meantime, while spending time together, sparks begin to fly.

This book was cute, fun, and steamy. I have read several books by Shayla and I must say, she NEVER disappoints.

This book is good, love the characters and the story line is really sweet. I love their first date at the restaurant where they both realize they are super hot for each other and verbally go back and forth with subliminal sexual references and then she can't keep her hands or shall we say feel off of him. What an exciting dinner then they don't even eat there and get the whole thing to go in a matter of seconds it seems like. Loved the whole scene! The way everything ended up was pretty unreal too, it was all good and how he made her feel so special, how could a reader no swoon and fall a little more for Carson. Shaw was a jerk but I guess every book needs to have one of them, good thing his daughter was smarter then we were originally lead to believe.

Misadventures of a Backup Bride by Shayla Black is the fourth book in the Misadventures Series. And Misadventures of a Backup Bride fits in pretty well with the other books in this series.

Meet Carson Frost. He's about to marry in a few weeks. But his fiancée and he, lets say they have only two things in common. One of these things is they don't love each other.
But he's smitten with his backup. Only his genius plan backfires.
Ella Hope, a up and coming actress gets hired by Carson to be his backup bride. But pretending isn't soon necessary anymore .

Misadventures of a Backup Bride is a spicy hot and scorching story, written and told in typical Shayla Black style. I can't say how much I love her books.
I recommend the book and give 5 stars. Thank you, Shayla Black !

Carson and Ella's fake fiance situation was only ever fake for like a hot second, if even that. When he came up with a plan to pay an actress to be his fake love, calling up a girl who's been on his mind already set the plan in motion for their happily ever after.

I like Ella, she's got spunk and she's sassy and doesn't just do whatever she's told. And Carson is a successful businessman, but that's not all he is, and they are both honest and upfront with their feelings. Which are pretty dang insta. Insta everything- bring it all on! This was a very enjoyable book, no surprise from me when you look at the author. I'd love a story involving Ella's sisters in the future, but I can't complain- this was good. I loved the end, it was beautiful and perfect.

I received an arc of this.

I absolutely adored how this Misadventure story grabbed me from the beginning.

Carson will do anything he can to save his father's business, even if that means marrying the competitor's daughter who he seems to have absolutely nothing in common with. In order to try to save the company and NOT marry Kendra, he says he is in love with someone else, not expecting his nemesis to call his bluff.

What comes next is unexpected attraction and a determination to make the girl his forever. Will Ella and Carson be able to convince everyone that they are in love and save his business? Or will everyone involved end up with bruised and broken hearts.

Shayla writes a wonderful, unexpected love story that is both steamy as heck as well as endearing and funny!

This was such an entertaining read. I loved the premise and the characters, Carson and Ella. For having only met briefly months before and being paid to be there, Ella and Carson have tremendous chemistry that was sparked in the initial meeting and has remained in the back of their minds since. Now that they're trying to pull off a farce of a relationship, it becomes quite clear early on that it isn't a farce at all.

The connection they share and sexual tension between them is undeniable and catapults their relationship into warp speed while they try to figure out what their next move is so that Carson can keep his company.

This was funny, witty and sexy all at once. A great addition to the MIsadventures series.

Wow! What a good book. I love to read books by Shayla Black because I know it will be good. Carson is a strong character who has to find a way out of a wedding but he really needs a loan from his business rival. The bride to be is his daughter and is a part of the loan. So what does a guy do in this position? Why you hire an actress to be your pretend bride. Just because you get the added benefit of it being a woman you’re attracted to? It makes it an even harder situation. This is such a sweet story but there are a lot of hard decisions for them to make. I really enjoyed reading this story. I know I said it was sweet but be aware that the sex is hotter than a 4th of July in North Carolina. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book that I received from Netgalley.

I thought Back Up Bride was an entertaining read. Carson and Ella joined ranks in quite a peculiar situation. I admire Carson for trying to save this company for someone who he doesn’t owe a thing to. He could have very well let it sink. Ella is sassy and I like that she didn’t readily give in to Carson’s every demand. She didn’t hold out as long as I thought she would when it came to him. Carson and Ella definitely have a connection that can’t be denied. They’re more than hot for each other. Their physical connection was off the charts. That being said I didn’t quite feel the emotional connection between these two until the very end of the book. The pace was also a bit too slow for me but other than that I enjoyed it.

It's been a long time since I've gotten my hands on a Shayla Black book, and I'll tell you right now, it won't happen again that I don't get my hands on a new book as soon as it's up for review! I loved the Misadventurers of a Backup Bride. It had a lot of quick whit, sass, humor, erotic love scenes, and a lot of very tender and caring moments between Carson and Ella. I loved this couple, and found myself pulling for them almost right off the bat.. Gregory Shaw was a creep, and I felt badly for his daughter. Even though you could tell which way the book was going, I still loved the outcome. Very romantic, sigh! Well written, a very quick read, very difficult to put down, loved it!

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Misadventures of a Backup Bride by Shayla Black is the fourth book in the Misadventures series, which is comprised of all standalone novels.

Misadventures of a Backup Bride follows the romance between billionaire Carson Frost and Ella Hope, an actress hired to play Carson's "wife." What starts as a fake romance soon becomes heated, real, intimate. Ella becomes emotionally involved and begins to fantasize that they are really getting married, but she fears he won't want her once his company is safe and he no longer needs a bride.

This was my first Shayla Black novel, and I was impressed. I recommend this novel to steamy romance lovers.

It's got a lot of the sweet tender parts that make for a great romance. But it also has all the heat and sizzle you would look for in a book by Shayla Black. Can love really happen in a matter of weeks? That’s a question that can only be answered by the people involved. But the one thing that is absolutely certain is that they need to be open and honest and communicate. I had not read the previous books in This series but I am very glad that I read this one and now I will check out the others.

As a fan of Shayla Black (her Wicked Lovers Series, Dom’s of Her Life, More Than Words) with each new world she builds in a series I worry that I won’t enjoy it as much as the other. I am excited to say that I really loved this book. Carson & Ella are characters that you will love and their story was an easy read. It was just a really great romance, and I really wish if could have continued, but I don’t know if that is possible.

As a fan I gotta let you know the world just feel different as the other series...not as intense and suspenseful when the bullets are flying like in Wicked Lovers. I would read this book again just because I liked it. It isn't super short, or super long - it was just right :)

Bubbly Kendra Shaw, daughter to Gregory, owner of sweet giant, Dulce Lama has been engaged to Carson Frost as part of a $25 million deal to save his company from folding to outstanding debts.

He inherited the confectionary empire Sweet Darlin’ from his biological father who was married briefly to his mother when she fell pregnant but left to make his fortune.

Neither Kendra nor Carson want to go through with the marriage in a couple weeks, Carson has the brainwave to confess that he is already in love with another woman.

He calls Ella Hope, an aspiring LA actress to come to North Carolina and give the performance of her life to convince Gregory they are madly in love. So can Ella and Carson keep up the pretence and can they resist the intense attraction when they together?

I really enjoyed this story, particularly that there weren’t the misunderstandings and dramas that often occur. It’s more a battle of wits and understanding, definitely looking up more of Shayla’s work. I received an ARC in return for an honest review.

If you like Shayla Black’s novels, you’ll like this one. I usually find her books short on plot and character development. There’s too much insta-lust turning into insta-love after one night of epic love-making for my tastes. I don’t mind epic love-making, but it should be balanced out by the plot. This one has a bit more of a plotline than some of her other books that I’ve read. We have a version of the fake fiance plot here as Carson Frost has to hire actress Ella Hope to pretend to be his love interest so he can get out of a deal with a billionaire candymaker who has roped Carson into getting engaged to his seeming twit of a daughter in return for a loan for Carson to rescue the candy business that his father left him. If you can suspend disbelief for the whole plotline, there are a few plot twists that help to rescue the idea and make this the best of the two earlier Misadventures book.

I was give a free ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Steamy and a fun read.

This is not my first book by this author and she did not disappoint. While short and quick with the "L" word, this was exactly what I was looking for going in. Carson is in need of a backup plan. He doesn't want the plan that is in place to go through and to stop his marriage he enlists the help of this girl he met who is still on the forefront of his mind. Ella is a struggling actress who gets an unexpected call and then crazier proposition from this guy she met at a party but still dreams about.

The premise of this book made for an interesting little tale. False pretenses coupled with intense chemistry made for an lazy afternoon read. Written well and moved efficiently through time, this was light but smoking hot with a good dose of heart and a few giggles along the way.

This is my first Misadventure book but I think this will be a series to watch if they are all like this one.

4.5 Hot Stars This book had a different twist to the fake relationship genre. Carson the CEO of a billion dollar candy company needs a fake girlfriend to get rid of his real fiancee. He hires Ella, a Hollywood actress that he meet in the past when she had been dating his friend. His future father-in-law Gregory Shaw agreed to loan Carson the money he needs to save his company if he will marry his wayward daughter Kendra but the closer he gets to the big day he knows is needs to get himself out of this doomed marriage. Carson hopes that if he can prove he is in love with someone else Shaw will let him out of the marriage part of their agreement. Let the performance begin.

This book has many twists and turns. Things are not always what they seem. Be sure to read this creative romantic adventure. I think you will pleasurably surprised.

This is such a fun series and I am loving them all! This book had it all from sweet moments to sexy moments.

Carson never thought he would inherit his birth father’s multimillion-dollar company after he passed. He didn’t know his father so it came as a complete surprise. When he takes over the company he realizes it’s in worse shape than he thought. He wants to save the company and the only way he can get a loan is very unconventional.

Carson has to marry the daughter of his rival in order to get the loan he needs. They have zero in common so Carson has a plan to have a long lost love interest. Ella is someone Carson met a while ago and had instant chemistry. He has an offer for her she can’t refuse.

These two both have demons they have to conquer to move on. I really liked these characters and their story. I really enjoyed this book by this author, it was my first time reading a book by her and it won’t be my last.

I LOVED this addition to the Misadventures books. I thought it was well written and a great read. Carson an overnight millionaire or almost... as he needs a loan to help save a company he inherits from his late biological father and is forced to marry his father's rival's daughter to get the loan. At first this was a good idea, but after thoughts are forcing Carson to consider does he want to marry someone he is not in love with and never will be? A chance meeting in LA at a party with an aspiring actress and he puts a plan in place to get out of the arranged marriage. Ella, LA actress who is not finding much work... remembers the chance meeting with Carson and was drawn to him. When he calls looking to hire her for a few weeks as her long lost love, she is all in.... however will the connection they had become something more real as they get to know each other. In the end does it matter? LOVED. LOVE. LOVED this book!

Another great addition to the Misadventure series. Each book is fun, flirty and funny in their own unique way. Carson has just inherited a candy company from a father who he never really knew and is in need in capital (money). Too bad it comes from a man who's willing to give it to him if Carson would marry his daughter and neither is in love with each other. Carson comes up with a plan to somehow dissuade him by saying he's in love with someone else and now to figure out who. Enter Ella a actress who fascinated him when he met her when she was out with one of his friend. In desperate need of the cash who knew that taking this gig would change her live and her future. Neither apparently but love is fickle and when you found the one there's no hope of letting go. Each book in the Misadventures will have you swooning and constantly turning the pages and this is no exception, you're most definitely missing out if you don't pick this book up.

Well, this is a Shayla Black book so I honestly don't know how it can go wrong. I love this author's writing. Everything I've read from her so far has not let me down. I've been a fan since I opened the first page of the very first Wicked Lovers novel and I was addicted and blown away by this author's talent. She does not disappoint!!

Ella and Carson were quite an interesting pair. The chemistry between them was definitely undeniable. If it's one thing this author knows, it's how to write some sexy. And this was definitely sexy. I like that this was different from the usual story lines from this author. Her stories tend to have more emotion and a heavier dose of sexiness to them. This was lighter and had more of a fun vibe with a perfect amount of passion and chemistry mixed in.

Shayla Black did a great job and I absolutely adored these characters. This was such a great addition to this series.

I am really enjoying this series. It would be very difficult to choose a favourite.
In this book Carson Frost inherits his families confectionery business and the only loan he can get to rebuild the business comes from his rival at a steep price. In return for the loan he must marry the man's daughter. The only emotion between this pair is dislike and Carson is totally not prepared in any way to marry her unless in a completely open marriage. When he calls upon an actress friend who was once dating a friend and offers her a large sum to be his fake fiancé the tables are turned on him by his rival who agrees to hand over the agreed sum if he marries the fake fiancé instead.
A thoroughly enjoyable read.
I was given this book by NetGalley and the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

I really enjoyed this Misadventures story about a man desperate to save his deceased father's company by making a deal with his rival/competitor. Carson tries to get out of the bargain he made, by hiring a woman he met 6 months previously to act as his girlfriend. Of course, they had attraction to each other then, but now...now there is nothing to stop that chemistry from exploding - which of course is exactly what it does. Things seems to progress really quickly at first, and I suppose through this whole story, since the book happens over the course of several weeks. But the chemistry is hot and suddenly the lines between fake and real are blurred. This was a quick, hot story with a few laugh out loud moments. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I'm a huge fan of Shayla Black and I was so excited for her to be a part of this series! Carson and Ella started off as a business arrangements, but it didn't take them long to stoke the flames that they both felt for each other. Their chemistry was off the charts and the way that they fell for each other was hot.

This was a shorter story and can easily be ready in a few hours. I enjoyed the story. The characters were great and the story held my interest. It was a good read.

With the first few books of this series under my belt, I wasn't sure what to expect from this story, but I have to say I was actually pleasantly surprised by this book!

For me, this was a quick and easy read that engaged me from the start. I liked how the relationship between Carson and Ella grew, even though it was a bit of the insta-lust/love trope. I wish that the financial troubles that Carson's company was having was better explained, though. I really enjoyed the twist at the end with regards to the rival company!

This is one that I would really recommend, and definitely one I would purchase for myself!

It's very hard for me to be convinced when it comes to insta-love and I didn't buy it in this story. That's my only complaint about this book. I thought Carson and Ella had amazing chemistry but to be in love after four days is too far fetched for me. This would have been more believable if the story had been stretched out over a couple of months and I think that could have worked in this book. Other than that, it was very romantic and perfectly steamy. I liked the little twist at the end with Shaw. An epilogue a year or so into the future would have been nice too since this story takes place over the course of about two weeks.

I admit, I am a sucker for the fake bride then the couple falls in love type of stories and Misadventures of a Backup Bride is a great addition to this trope. This is a quick, fun, witty, steamy romance. Carson and Ella had an insta-connection when they first met so who else would Carson consider asking? But, when the fun and flirty begins to feel more real than fake, will they be able to stay with the original plan?

This is a quick, fun, witty, steamy romance with some crazy twists that keep you flipping the pages until the very end.

The Misadventures series has been a lot of fun to read. I loved Carson & Ella's story. You have the guy who's being forced into a marriage by a bossy man that wants to take care of his immature, sorority girl like daughter & the wannabe actress trying to make rent. They met briefly at a mutual friend's party, & Carson remembered that Ella was an actress. He hires her to play someone he's still got feelings for to come from CA to Carolina to convince the meddling man that he loves her. The romance that plays out is so worth the read. Also everything isn't always what it appears to be. This is a great read, & I highly recommend it!

love it when the good guys come out on top!
Coming into his own, I fell in love with Carson instantly. And it seems, he was attracted to Ella in much the same way. He was trying to do right by a father he never knew and he hired Ella to get himself out of a bad situation to get there.
This is such a sweet confection of a story. But don't let that fool you, you'll also find blackmail, a little angst and white lies. A battle of wills. But also humor, yearning and an unwavering need to do the right thing.
An instalove that promises forever. Sighs

Misadventures of a Backup Bride

The story was interesting and I enjoyed reading this book. I liked the chemistry between Carson and Ella it was sexy and hot. It got a little confusing for me with Ella's sudden indecision. The ending has an unexpected twist that I didn't see coming.

If you’re in the market for an easy read, this book will fit the bill. The story moves along and gets resolved pretty quickly. There are some steamy scenes. The only thing that bothered me was the female lead, Ella, was going back and forth on making her decision at the end of the book. She did have her reasons, which could be understandable, but I found it kind of tedious. Even with that, I would recommend reading it. It’s not my favorite book but I finished it, unlike some that I couldn’t finish reading them. I was provided a copy from Netgalley and Waterhouse for an honest review.

Carson Frost hires Ellie Hope who he met 6 months ago at a party for his friend. He was to marry the daughter of a competitor, but he isn't in love with her. The ruse was to show her father that they shouldn't be together. Ellie and Carson turn it to be so much more together. Mr. Shaw forces them to the altar to prove their love and to keep the contract of him giving Carson the money he needs for his company. Misadventures of a Backup Bride is a fast sexy read, and it's a good pick for when you are in the mood for a quickie. I am not a big fan of insta-love or fake marriage tropes so I wasn't sure if I would like this book but Ms. Black made it work. There is not a lot of substance or depth to this story, it's just a very cheesy romance with an obligatory HEA. Misadventures of a Back up Bride was as quick, easy read. No girlfriend, no problem. But to find a girlfriend who will agree to "marry" you in two weeks may be a bit tough to find. Not to mention that you need to convince the competition who has agreed to help your and your newly inherited company out of a bind. Once the wheels are set in motion it's hard not to cross the boundaries of the contact and even harder to not completely fall in love.

Misadventures of a Backup Bride was the typical "bride for hire" story except for the situation which made it interesting. Carson has emergency money issues that causes him to make a deal with his biggest competition, but wants to back out at the last minute. This causes him to hire Ella, an actress who he met only once before. Anyone who has ever read this type of story knows that they will fall in love. But the ending is shocking, and it makes me wish for a second installment.

It was just supposed to be a means to an end. Carson has inherited a candy company from his biological father who he did not really know. In order to get the financial backing to keep it running, he became engaged to the daughter of a rival candy company. There is just one problem; they are ill suited to each other. In an attempt to renegotiate the terms to obtain the money, Carson mentions that he has fallen for another woman. Ella is the woman that Carson met at a friend’s wedding prior to getting engaged. When Carson calls her to ask her to be his fake girlfriend, she is stunned but ultimately agrees to drop everything to help him. Mr. Shaw, the owner of the other candy empire, is skeptical and demands proof of Carson and Emma’s relationship. However the original game changes and the question becomes will Carson and Emma go through with this charade? Is it really a charade? Shayla Black is the quintessential creator of realistic characters that you can’t help but fall for. Regardless of genre, the development of storyline and corresponding characters suck the reader into their world and makes one just want to stay forever. This is a feel good, happy, story that I wish would continue because who wouldn’t want to find their other half.

Carson hires a bride to convince the man giving him a loan that he’s not a match for his daughter. What he didn’t expect is falling in love with his hired bride.

I love the plot in this book, it’s intriguing and sweet. The relationship building between Ella and Carson is moving quickly forward but it suits the story. One of the things I especially liked was that there wasn’t any hasty jealousy drama, it was lots of communication although not perfect. But that’s how it’s in real life.

The writing style is easygoing and fun with a lot of feelings. The author manages to drag me in to the story and I feel connected to them.
No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and a good amount of dialogues makes this a very good read.

There’s many very good love scenes that is written with a lot of feelings even before the characters declare their love.

Great read! 5 stars from me.

Anything written by Shayla Black is must-read and Misadventures of a Backup Bride, is no different.

When Carson Frost realizes it’s not going to work between the woman he’s agreed to marry (to secure a loan) he makes up a story about being in love with someone else. The woman he supposedly loves is someone he’s met once and an actress. It’s a good thing that she needs a job. It’s also a good thing that Ella and Carson have real sparks that sizzle between them.

What started out as a fake relationship transforms very quickly into a one-of-a-kind love that’s worth so much. The author also incorporates multiple twists into the story that give our couple the run around and make them realize just how much they mean to each other. The characters are sweet and sexy, while the romance is tender at times. The banter between them is fresh and fun. Overall, if you’re a fan of insta-love, this one is for you.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet just like Misadventures of a Backup Bride (MBB). I always find myself rambling on and to be honest, in order to understand just how beautiful and humorous this book is you just have to read it. I've never read Shayla Black before, so this was a first for me. I admit that I'm of the dark romance persuasion, however, I've found myself grabbing at light and hearty romances lately. You know what they say—a laugh a day keeps the blues away and all that malarkey.

So anywho, this is very much a short, steamy and sweet read. If you are a fan of insta-love, just jump in. Carson and Ella's story is definitely on the fast paced scale of things, however I have to say that it doesn't feel rushed or like parts are skipped. This is really a testament to Ms. Black's writing skill as a lot of stories that have this element tend to feel a little unfeasible and as though so many important moments of the actual "falling in love" are missed. At times they even tend to cheapen the whole plot, especially when they pack a whole lotta heat!

Character wise, I have to admit that I just adored this twosome from beginning to end. I loved that Carson was very much grounded and strong, and that he didn't just roll with the story. He felt like he had this almost rebellious side to him where he knows what he wants and he just goes for it even if goes against the grain. Saying that he didn't just do it willy nilly, there was thought and you could definitely make out the cogs working through his feelings and what they meant for both he and Ella. If that makes sense? Saying that, it was a two way thing because Ella was very much the same. She doesn't dumb down their connection, but at the same time she doesn't just go with it. There is definitely this build up of will they won't they and that weaves into the plots twists and turns as they try and work through what their connection means and if they can make it in more than a physical way.

All in all, I have to say that I just adored this story. From the gorgeous characters to the brilliant plot, it just got me hook, line and sinker. This was my first Shayla Black experience, and it will not be my last. This very much one of my favourite stories so far in this series, and I cannot wait for more from this author and this series.

Misadventures of a Back Up Bride
By: Shayla Black
??⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️??

In book four of the Misadventures series we meet Carson and Ella. Brought together for reasons completely Ridiculous and selfish circumstances from a man that’s manipulating Carson for his own personal gain.

When Carson Frost inherits a confectionary that rakes in billions but is too cash-strapped to last another sixty days, he agrees to take a loan from his late father’s rival. There are two catches: Carson has to sign over a permanent stake in the company and marry the man’s daughter.

Two weeks before the wedding, he gets cold feet and claims he’s in love with someone else. The investor says he’ll still hand over the cash if Carson takes a stroll down the aisle with the woman who owns his heart. Since he isn’t even dating anyone, Carson panics. Where is he going to find a bride willing to jilt him at the altar on such short notice?

Ella Hope is an actress happy for any paying gig, but jilting a hottie in public isn’t what she had in mind. Still, she needs rent, and he’s in a bind. How hard can it be? While playing at matrimony, immediately their intimacy isn’t so fake. Ella can’t help but fantasize that Carson is her groom and they will live happily ever after. But once his company is safe, will he want her anymore.

I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks you Netgally for letting me read and review.

I give Misadventures Of A Backup Bride 5 stars for making feel so many emotions. I felt contempt for a father pushing his daughter to marry someone she didn't love. I was frustrated that he would use his money to make Carson agree to his marriage condition. But, in the end I was relieved to see how he dealt with the wedding.

Meredith Wild and Shayla Black have written a fun, sexy read about negotiation tactics. This novel is intriguing, entertaining, and enlightening. The characters are strong and interesting. A merger of great authors to make the ultimate merger of two great characters.

Two weeks before he is to wed Kendra, he goes to her father and claims he’s in love with someone else. Shaw wants to meet this woman, so Carson hires Ella, whom he met months ago at a birthday party, to play the role. After meeting her, Shaw agrees to hand over the cash if Carson marries the woman who owns his heart. Can he go through with this?

Carson Frost is the CEO and new owner of an enormous candy conglomeration. Too cash-strapped to last another sixty days, he agrees to take a loan from rival with the condition that he sign over five percent stake in the company and marry his daughter. He and Kendra Shaw are definitely not in love and want out of the relationship. Will her father agree to letting them out of the deal?

Ella Hope is an actress who needs a paying gig. After accepting to help Carson, she realizes that their intimacy isn’t so fake. She fantasizes that he is her real groom and would love to live happily ever after. She wonders if once his company is safe, would he still want her?

Misadventures Of A Backup Bride is a standalone romance novel about negotiations in business, in love, in life. There is also some mystery, romance, and sex.

I loved the ins and outs of this story.

I know I have said this three times previously, but I just love the Misadventures series. These are fun, steamy, quick and enjoyable reads that are perfect when you have small does of downtown and want a yummy romance that is not over,y complicated. In the newest addition to the series, Shayla Black takes on the fake relationship trope.

Carson inherits a billion dollar business that barely has enough liquid capital to make it two more months. He enters into an agreement with his late father's business rival that has some complications he isn't sure he can agree to. In exchange for a loan he has to give him a stake in the company. That's the easy part. The harder part is agreeing to marry the man's daughter. Unable to go through with it, he claims to be in love with someone else. Now he needs to find a woman on short notice who is willing to jilt him very publicly.

Enter Ella. Ella is an actress and though she'll take just about any paying job, having to publicly break up with the handsome Carson is one that gives her pause. A job is a job though and her rent won't pay itself. As their fake nuptials approach. Ella finds it hard to deny her feelings for Carson. They're both opinionated and see, to be the perfect match. Carson is only interested in saving the family business. Once that's accomplished, can Ella convince him she is worth more than a few weeks of a fake relationship?

This was ridiculously fun and Carson and Ella were so perfect for each other. Though I don't read books with a fake relationship trope often, they make for fabulously entertaining reading and this one was especially fun and sexy.

This is Shayla Black's entry to the Misadventure Series. I was lucky to have had access to an ARC.

I am very familiar with Shayla, so to say this book was a wonderful read was not a surprise to me. She has a way of weaving a story and bringing her emotions to each and every story and character she writes about.

This is no exception. It starts out with Carson who is left the responsibility of running his late biological fathers' empire and it is not an easy task. He is left with hard decisions to make. In an effort to save his father's company, he agrees with his competitor to marry the man's daughter in exchange to receive liquid assets to keep the company afloat. The problem is the man's daughter is a young woman with no thought of responsibility and only has partying on her mind.

The two have nothing in common. Carson is desperate not to marry this girl, so he concocts a plan to hire a "backup bride" to convince his competitor that he does not love his daughter, but loves someone else. In comes Ella whom he met briefly months before, a woman with future plans that don't include a husband and everything that comes with it. But she needs the money so she agrees with Carson to play the part of his fiancée.

The fly in the ointment is they both fall hard for each other. They both now have to make some tough decisions that will change both their lives forever.

This was an amazing story with a lot of heartbreak, and emotional twists and turns. I recommend this highly.

If you want a book with a lot of sex scenes then Misadventures of a Backup Bride by Shayla Black, Misadventures book four. Carson Frost inherits a candy company but is in need of a loan to keep the company running. He agrees to take a loan from his late father’s rival but there are two catches: Carson has to sign over a permanent stake in the company and marry the man’s daughter. Carson really doesn’t want to marry this daughter so he claims he is in love with someone else. The investor agrees to still hand over the cash if Carson marries this woman. Since he really isn’t dating anyone and he contacts an actress, Ella, he met at a friend’s party and convinces her to do it but to jilt him at the altar. Ella is happy to take on this paying gig, but isn’t quite sure about jilting a hot guy in public. The more time Carson and Ella spend together pretending to be in love the more they find themselves actually falling for each other. Can they make this work and save the company or is the pressure too much?

I enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down. There was definitely a lot of time in this story spent with Carson and Ella sharing sex, in detail, overpowering some scenes. I recommend this book to other readers and am looking forward to the next book in this series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Oh man! What. A. Book! Another captivating, page-turner! Carson and Ella met previously, but while they noticed the other, they didn't cross paths again. Until Carson called her up. LA was a hard town to live in and acting was a hard gig. Ella wasn't currently working on a project so she was able to drop everything and take the job Carson was offering. Neither was expecting the intense chemistry still there between them, which was palpable through the pages. What started out as a job and acting for both parties, soon they couldn't deny what was between them and they couldn't keep the feelings out of their budding relationship.
I enjoyed watching their relationship grow into something real. Their story was sweet, sexy, maddening and OH-SO-DELICIOUS! It was fast paced and I didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed the banter between Carson and Ella and I liked that she was a strong woman. She kept Carson on his toes and he appreciated her for who she was. His original fiancee wasn't one who struck his fancy or that he could even have a conversation with. However, there wasn't a problem communicating with Ella in or out of bed! They were a good fit for each other and they had to work through the job and their true feelings. I enjoyed the twists this book brought and highly recommend it!

5 Star review of Misadventures Of A Backup Bride by Shayla Black
What a complicated life Carson Frost leads! When he inherits a confectionery company, he turns to a competitor to assist him with much needed funds he cannot raise in time. The catch? He has to marry the man’s daughter and give up a percentage of his business.
What’s Carson going to do but go ahead with it. However, when doubt rears it’s head he knows he cannot marry her and so begins a web of lies that keep getting bigger and bigger. This is when Carson remembers meeting and being interested in an actress from LA named Ella Hope and he subsequently “hires” her to be his “fake” bride.
What starts off as a fake relationship, soon morphs into so much more and becomes even more complicated, feelings become involved. The possibility of a real relationship soon becomes a reality, only problem is they live states away from each other. Will Carson be prepared to leave his inheritance behind or will Ella be prepared to give up her dreams of winning an Oscar?
The chemistry between Carson and Ella was sizzling the twists and turns heart pounding and all in all was a great addition to this wonder Misadventures series.

Have you ever wondered if love at first sight really exist? What about true love over time never fades or that all time favorite Love is Blind. Are there any merits in those quotes? Misadventures of a Backup Bride will have you giggling and wondering about all these questions.

Carson is an ambitious businessman thrust into an industry he has limited knowledge of. To support this venture he enters into a business arrangement. As the reality of what he has done settles in, reservations creep in, yet with his “jewels” in that very tight noose, he is not sure how to separate certain provisions from the rest of the deal.

Ella is a starving artist, looking to make ends meet. A paying gig that had the potential to cover expenses for the foreseeable future brings her into contact with Carson. This was supposed to be a simple gig, but at times she is left wondering if she can really do as he ask. Her goal, purpose,. and limitations have been clear since their first conversation. Yet, with them working so closely, sometimes goals and purposes are skewed by the heart.

As Carson and Ella maneuver their social and business calamity, how they bond is nothing short of amazing. They discover they really do work well as a team, and I found myself cheering them on with each page turned.

Misadventures of a Backup Bride is a great story of an unexpected past encounter where neither party really forgot the other, and how sometimes there are indeed second chances. Loved this book and happily give it five (5) stars.

I'm loving the Misadventures Series and this latest installment by Shayla Black is SMOKING HOT!! Imagine having to come up with a bride very quickly and getting her to leave you at the altar all so you can save your company. This is the premise of this book and it's so good!!!

Carson is a man that will do just about anything to save his candy company, even if it means getting hitched. The problem is there's no girlfriend, no friends that are girls or anyone he knows that's willing to take the proverbial plunge with our Hero. Enter Ella Hope, a woman that is just who Carson has been looking for....let the fun times begin!

Oh how I love the writing of Ms. Black. She has a way of drawing me into the story, this time with a tenderness and story that nudged its way into my heart, just like Ella did with Carson and I adored every word. There's some major heat between our H/h and they can't stop themselves from taking advantage of their matrimonial status!

This book is a fun anda chemistry filled read and is a perfect addition to the Misadventures Series!

MISADVENTURES OF A BACKUP BRIDE is the fourth release in the Misadventures series. These stories are all independent and each stand on their own.

What a sweet and sexy story - sigh. I loved the romance, the insta-lust turned love, the quirky quips, and I especially loved the honesty. Now, you might ask how a book based on lies about a fake fiancé could be all about honesty. Read it! It is!

This was one of those books I read straight through - paid for it with bleary eyes at work the next day - and it was so worth it!

This is the first book I have read from Shayla Black. I hope it won’t be my last. Her titles are intriguing!

Note: while I was given this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Shayla Black did an AMAZING job with this story line. I have read multiple books with the storyline of a fake relationship/wedding/marriage and it always seemed to be missing something. Except for this one they don't lie about their feelings towards each other they just don't know if they are ready to make it a real wedding with not knowing each other long. What the heck did I just read? There are so many things wrong with this story I don’t even know where to begin. The only reason I finished this was because I paid for the book.
First off, the premises is based off a guy trying to get out of an arranged marriage based on a business deal to his competitor’s daughter who is just starting her senior year of college. Who sets up a wedding for then? The ending which explains why the competitor did what he did felt cheap. Carson reconnects with Ella and hires her to play his girlfriend, so it becomes basically insta-love. The sexy times were very boring and repetitive. Also the connection of details was lacking and there were quiet a few spelling and grammatical errors. For a book published by a major publishing house, I was highly disappointed by these errors.
