Fool's Gold is weaving its magic spell once again. Mayor Marsha conjures up life-changing tasks for both Destiny and Kipling when she develops a seach-and-rescue operations in this close-knit California community. Add family members that are more strangers than relatives, acquaintances that come into their lives and quickly become friends, and a budding romance that doesn't always go smoothly and this is the basis for Susan Mallery's latest romance. Destiny and Kipling soon discover that it is almost impossible to remain uninvolved...both with the Fool's Gold cast of characters and with each other. This is a story of commitment to family, friends, and each other. Enjoy your stay in Fool's Gold and, if you're like me, you'll be anxiously awaiting your next visit.

Destiny Mills has a plan for the type of man she wants to spend the rest of her life with and Kipling Gilmore doesn't fit the mold. Destiny's parents were famous Country music stars that would take her on tour sometimes. She hated that lifestyle and wanted to be as far away from the music industry as possible even though she is extremely talented. Her grandmother took her in and helped her to be the successful woman she is. Kipling Gilmore was a gold medal winning skier who suffered a career ending injury. Destiny and Kipling are brought together to work on the search and rescue team getting to know each other and learning why they act the way they do. I love this series and can't wait for the next book!

I wait all year for Susan Mallery's next Fool's Gold trilogy and Hold Me did not disappoint! Hold Me is another fun summer read from Susan Mallery. I love the town of Fool's Gold and I love every new character she adds to her unique, endearing town!!!
Destiny Mills and Kipling Gilmore are engaging, heartwarming characters you will sympathize with and root for. Mallery continues her tradition of hot, sexy athletic men and interesting, well-developed, strong women characters. Destiny is a wonderful addition to Fool's Gold. I love reading about the women's relationships with one another in this wonderful town!
I am looking forward to the next two books in the Fool's Gold series by Susan Mallery!!! I am also all excited that Charlie is finally having her baby!!!! Spoiler alert!!! Loved this addition to the series and look forward to more!!!!

Once again Susan Mallery does not disappoint. I enjoyed Kipling and Destiny's love story. Each of their pasts are different. Destiny's parents were famous country stars and Kipling was a famous athlete, Olympic God Medal Skier. Their jobs bring them together. Destiny's half sister, Starr comes to live with her and they don't know each other. Kipling and his sister Shelby have a good relationship. Kipling is always there for Destiny. Their chemistry connects for each other and they try denying it. It is such a wonderful love story and I enjoy all of the characters in the book. Looking forward to the Fool's Gold Kiss Me and Thrill Me. Always anxious for Susan's books.

Susan's town of Fool's Gold has developed so much since the first book I have read that I may need to go back to the first some day to compare where we are now and where we were then! It is so amazing to find out about each of the character creations especially the diversity they bring to the town. Destiny and Kipling are such great people to get to know within this book especially after we are introduced to them in prior Fool's Gold stories. Oh - and Yes!- Mayor M is up to her tricks again ...wonderful tricks !! I am so glad I did not have to have a good cry half way through this one like I have had to do in so many others !! It was both refreshing and wonderful !! A must read!!

Susan Mallery's new book: "Hold Me" introduces new characters into Fool's Gold and blends them into the fabric that is this unique community. This story re-introduces all that is fun and steadfast about this town, it's people, and all their wonderful quirks. Now we're watching this place grow....expanding it's horizon as well as it's relationships within this town. This particular couple have similarities in their lives, dealing with siblings and all that it entails. They need to dig deep and realize their personal internal hang-ups to overcome obstacles to a point where things finally become clear for them. "Always" love these stories...never fails to enthrall and entertain!!

This one just wasn't one that will ever become a favorite for me. I will still read other books from this author but for me this one was a "fail" . Too much re-hasing of past events on both M.C.'s parts. Now that doesn't mean that I didn't like them, just that it never really sparked for me. Yes, they had interesting, unusual backgrounds and careers but something was just missing. I didn't hate it, but didn't feel like I connected to the book that strongly. Even the additon of Starr as Destiny's sister, while it helped, wasn't enough.
I guess the best thing I can say is, that it was nice to be back in Fool's Gold. A town that pulled together.

Anytime someone tells you the author of a certain book is Susan Mallery....you know it's a good book. All her books have been top-notch winners and Hold Me is no different. Her characters are believable, The two main characters in Hold Me, Destiny and Kipling, are each afraid to be in love but there is that unexplainable pull and connection between them. It is fun to watch their push and pull as they make their journey to commitment. Add in several characters from previous Fool's Gold books and a teenage half-sister Destiny had never met and you have a very heartwarming story. And, of course, the mystery surrounding Mayor Marsha continues........

Another Fool's Gold winner for Susan Mallery! I really enjoyed this book. Although others have said they didn't like it because it was different from her other Fool's Gold books, that is exactly why I liked it. In order to keep a series going as long as Susan has, you have to switch it up every now and then. Otherwise, people will get bored and stop reading them. I loved Destiny and Kipling's story. Mayor Marsha and her spooky ways has done it again. I love visiting with all of our old friends in Fool's Gold in each book. I really do wish I could move there and be a part of the community and enjoy all of the festivals. Thanks Susan for tweaking Hold Me a little to make me want to keep returning with each new book to see what happens. You have a winner!

This is a wonderful Susan Mallery story. Reading a Fools Gold story was like going home. This story takes you on an emotional roller coaster. The story is about a new comer to Fools Gold, Destiny who is there for only a consultation position. She meets the famous Kipling Gilmore. Kipling is everything that Destiny wants to stay away from: fame, fortune and the limelight. Can two people who seem to have different destinies see eye to eye. Can they overcome the things that life throws at them without getting derailed? I enjoyed Kipling from previous books, and liked him more when I had the opportunity to read his story. This story was delightful and a very enjoyable read. I suggest this book to anyone that likes a well writen story.

Hold Me by Susan Mallery, is this years first journey into Fools Gold, CA. In this installment we meet Destiny Mills child to Nashville, country music royalty in town for the summer to help get the town’s search and rescue program running. To do this she must work with Kipling Gilmore a former gold medal Olympic skier, now head of the search and rescue program. Neither one is looking for forever love, Destiny is too afraid of becoming her parents and Kipling has never seen what a real loving relationship can look like.
As with all Fools Gold novels, we also get the quirky, fun supporting characters of this wonderful Northern California town. This is a great read, full of fun, laughter and of course love. I really enjoyed reading a story about two people clueless about love finding it forever.

Hold Me is a great start for Susan Mallery’s new Fool’s Gold Trilogy. This isn’t the typically boy meets girl and falls in love story. This is a story of family! You have Destiny Mills the daughter of famous county singers and Kipling Gilmore ex Olympic Skier. Destiny is looking for a quiet life and escape the famous name and Kipling wants to “fix” her. Makes interesting chemistry. Then we have Star half-sister to Destiny who doesn’t have the feel of a family and also being a teenager! Along the way they find themselves not only falling in love with each other but finding what is important to them. As always I enjoy the catch up with past characters. Hold Me is refreshing story and a must read.

I love the stories that come out of Fool’s Gold and wish it were a real town to visit.
Hold Me brings us back to the wonderful town of Fool’s Gold, California. Susan Mallery introduces us to the newest inhabitants, Kipling and Destiny. We were introduced to Kipling in previous books. I really wish I had gone back and reread last summer’s books to refamiliarize myself with the back story of Kipling coming to town. We get to know him better as he opens the Search and Rescue business. Destiny is in town to help set up the computer program that will be used by the teams. Her story I feel could have been fleshed out a bit more and am hoping that happens in the other books coming out this summer.
Can’t wait for the next two!

Book #16 - and finally Kipling's story - we've been waiting for him to come to town, ever since out Mayor went flying around the world to find him ☺
He's a former Ski-Superstar / Olympic Gold Medal winner ... who's unfortunately had to end his career because of a bad accident - he almost ended up in a wheel-chair :(
But now he's in our favorite town, running the newly formed HERO - Search & Rescue unit.
And Destiny - she's in town for a few months to get the HERO software up and running...and then she'll leave again. That's what she always does. Work at one place for a while and leave. But this time things might be different. Not only because she's horribly attracted to Kipling (but she's SO NOT starting something with an adrenaline junkie!!! - at least that's what she's telling herself - she wants a quiet and safe and nice man.) But there's also her new half-sister. Not really new - Starr is already 15, but they never met before. And now she lives with Destiny. And the kid will probably need a safe place to live....and she seems to like it in Fool's Gold.
And even if Destiny might admit to herself to like the town and its people.... she doesn't believe in love...
She had a rough childhood. With famous country-singer-parents who were divorced and married a million times ... she never had a safe place to live until her grandma took her away from Nashville into the mountains to live with her.
But she still has some Nashville left in her...she needs music...to listen to it - to create and play it - and to even sing it - but she only does all that in the privacy of her bedroom.....
Will Kipling - with his fix-everyone-who-needs-fixing gene - be able to pull her out of her denial and get her to believe in love and life??
Could this gorgeous guy and this lovely town, probably be her - ha-ha - Destiny??? ☺
What will happen to Destiny & Kipling?
Will there be a HEA?
Nope - I'm not telling you ☺

Ugh - I just LOVE Fool's Gold and it's people - I would be happy to have a new Fool's Gold book every month for the rest of my life! ☺
I was sooo looking forward to finally find out what Mayor Marsha had in mind when she went to New Zealand to get Kipling ☺ Now we know....
He's so cute and funny and sexy and it's really admirable how he dealt with the loss of the love of his life: skiing.... He misses it like crazy, but he knows he needs to start the next phase of his life....and not only will the HERO unit be part of it - he's also hoping that Destiny will be the most important part of it.... But of course he doesn't know that in the beginning - he's happy that she'll leave again in a few months...he's not looking for something serious...poor guy ☺
Just like every single Fool's Gold Romance, HOLD ME was just as great...
Of course we already meet or at least hear about, some new guys & girls - who will find their HEA in the up-coming books...can't wait!!!
GO AND BUY HOLD ME - it's another amazing Mallery Romance that has it all: The town of Fool's Gold with all its amazing inhabitants - a hot Ski-God - Love - Moving & adorable moments & romantic sexiness ♥ like all of SUSAN'S books = JUST PERFECT ☺

I love coming back to Fool's Gold! Hold me is the story of Kipling and Destiny. Kipling is an Olympic Skier who suffers an injury preventing him from Skiing again and Destiny is the child of Country Music stars. Destiny has seen a lot in her young years with her playboy parents so her ideas of love and romance are seriously warped, but when these two meet the chemistry is there front and center. Destiny wants to avoid it which is a welcome challenge for Kipling. But the first chance he gets to show her some romance doesn't quite go as planned, so he has his work cut out for him. I did like this story, although not as much as previous Fool's Gold books. I do Enjoy how she integrates the people that we have met in previous books into all of the new one's. Love knowing what everyone is up to.

One thing about Susan Mallery and her Fools Gold series is that she is constant in every way. You have the woman who denies the attraction and the man determined to get their woman. In a way it is good but felt with Destiny and Kipling there could have been so much more.I loved that Kipling doesn`t cower away when he hear`s her opinions towards a relationship. Throughout the whole book I was waiting for more of Destiny but felt her whole attitude was hiding her past instead of embracing her talent and Kipling. Although my favorite part of the whole book was Kipling at the doctor`s office that was hilarious. Not her best for me from Susan Mallery hoping the next one in the series will be better.

I was a bit worried about reading this, since I did not care for the Mischief Bay book I read. However, I was relieved to find this book is a worthy addition to the Fool's Gold sagas. Ms. Mallery has an uncanny ability to get into the head of both male and female characters. The protagonists in this story both have to overcome dysfunctional backgrounds, and the unfolding of their relationship is masterfully done. Nice to see the other Fool's Gold residents making their appearance and updating their stories. I heartily recommend this book and look forward to the next one. My only complaint is that now I have that "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me" song stuck in my head *g*.

Thrilled to be back in Fool’s Gold, California with this year’s first book, “hold me”. I loved being introduced to Destiny Mills as she discovers this wonderful town, is welcomed by the ladies of Fool’s Gold, and collides directly into Olympian G-Force, Kipling Gilmore. Susan Mallery’s writings are a real enjoyment easily weaving Destiny’s expertise, book smarts, and life-innocence with Kipling’s turbulent past and life experiences. This is such a great town, with wonderful updates on the characters we have come to love, and the refreshing forward movement of life and romance. Cannot wait until the next one!

I'll start off by saying that I'm pretty much over the Fool's Gold community in general, so if I wasn't part of the review crew & getting ARC for free, then I probably wouldn't have read it at all.
That being said- this book didn't do much to boost my opinion of this series. There wasn't enough depth, drama or angst to keep me truly interested. I didn't feel much of a connection with the characters. Also, I felt like it was more Destiny's story than it was the story of "them". Seriously couldn't get over how bad the name Kipling is, I don't think it's cool or sexy at all!
If they keep sending me ARCs, I'll keep reading....otherwise, I'm done with the Fool's Gold series.

I liked Hold Me the first in this Summer's Fools Gold Trilogy. It was nice to reconnect with some of the other characters, but I have to say that I was a bit disappointed. I was really looking forward to Kipling's story. But sometimes, Kipling and Destiny made some really stupid mistakes for their ages. And I connected more with the 15 year old half sister (and I am 45), then with the main characters. And the Man-Cave feud was not very attractive toward the women of the town, Jo, or the men. What man really pulls out of business deal because their wives told them to? Especially these men that we have come to know through other books.
So while I enjoyed this latest installment of the series, I felt it wasn’t the best of the Fool’s Gold series. But I will be back to read the next one, because I love them.

Destiny didn't believe in love. After seeing what love did to her country music star parents, she didn't want anything to do with it. Kipling didn't believe in love either. His father showed him that one could do terrible things and still say you loved someone. Fool's Gold often brings together unlikely people, giving them opportunities to grow and learn from each other. Mallery gives us two complex characters who need to learn to be flexible in their thinking. Destiny and Kipling share passion as they find their way into the culture of Fool's Gold. Another fine visit to the town that you really never want to leave. Looking forward to the next visit to Fool's Gold.

I feel like I say the same thing over and over again about Susan Mallery's writing. The she is one of my favorite authors and that I love Fools Gold. But it is true! Susan has a way of describing Fools Gold so that you feel like you can walk down the streets and see the town. I am partial to Destiny because I love that name! But there was one thing (which I won't say and ruin the story line) that I found very....hard to believe with Destiny. Other than that I love getting lost in Fools Gold after a stressful day at work! I can't wait for the other two books this summer!

Another beautiful Fool's Gold story. I related to Destiny's character & found myself drawn into her & Kipling's relationship more so than some of the other FG couples. I rooted for them to succeed. I love how Susan Mallery builds the relationship & has them overcome issues- no couple is perfect & that is what I like so much about these books. And they are just plain fun to read- quirky townsfolk, vivid scenery, & fantastic festival- Fool's Gold is the place to be!

Another great book by Susan Mallery. First off I'm excited to read about Fools Gold again. I want to live there. Kipling is a great guy who wants to do the right thing and is always trying to fix things. He is so admirable. It was fun to see Destiny try and fight her true feelings for not only Kip but her life in general. I also loved reading about older characters again too. Loved seeing what they are up to and how life is going for them. If call this a homerun.

Susan Mallery is a favorite author and this was one of my favorites in her collection. The story of Destiny and her sister Starr was one of the subplots. Of course, her hook up with Kipling was the main event. These are lighthearted stories, with some obstacles to overcome, but with the venue being the town of Fool's Gold. I appreciate the back stories from previous books because I have not been reading them in perfect order. When a new character is introduced I look forward to the next book. Reading these books puts in a good mood.

I have eagerly anticipated Kipling's story since he was introduced in an earlier Fool's Gold book. Once again, Susan did not disappoint! Destiny and Kipling's story is another real-life example of how our upbringing and life experiences impact our views and decisions, especially when it comes to love. Their story evoked the tears and laughter that I now come to expect from Susan's writings. And it's always great catching up on the lives of characters from past Fool's Gold books. Can't wait for the next one!

Based on reviews, I tried this at the library first. If I like a book, I buy it because I'll read it several times - and face it, the Fool's Gold series is tailor-made for the pool. But, this book was less than not enjoyable. Others have said it better, but the primary problem is that the established characters are acting "out of" character. Jo just came off as a whiney toddler rather than the strong woman she'd been shown as in her book and the others. Gideon (and Felicity) lost their minds and their perspective. But, somehow, Kipling is the one apologizing for everyone else ceasing to be an adult in this novella. Frankly, I'm disappointed Ms. Mallery - and glad I saved the money.

I am a big Fool's Gold fan. I enjoy the sense of family among the residents, the continuity of the story lines, and the character development. When Mayor Marsha contacted the hero, Kipling Gilmore, as he lay in his hospital bed, I knew something exciting lay ahead.
Susan Mallery did not disappoint. Kipling is voluntold to organize the Search and Rescue team for the town. He meets the heroine, Destiny, who has her own trust issues. The author's snappy dialog entertains us as we watch two wary people unite. Of course there is a HEA.

Hold Me, first great book of the summer. I'm not going to lie to you, I was skeptical of this one. I wasn't so sure about Kipling last summer and the idea of a country music star's kid was not something that was very intriguing. Boy was I wrong! Hold Me was everything I love about Mallery and Fool's Gold. Hold Me was much closer to the Fool's Gold I loved than previous installments. It was funny, charming, and heartwarming! It not only had your classic Fool's Gold romance it also had stories of friends and family. I'm reinvigorated with Fool's Gold after reading Hold Me and can't wait for the next one!

With Hold Me, Susan Mallery once again takes readers back to the town of Fool's Gold. The story centers on Destiny and Kipling, who we were introduced to in an earlier book when Mayor Marsha kind-of, sorta, blackmailed him into coming to town. I enjoyed the love story and the back stories behind both of these characters, but like any book in this series, I always enjoy return to the town of Fool's Gold. Finding out a character from a previous book is pregnant, or watching kids grow up...there is something magical about visiting Fool's Gold. Throw in a well-written love story and you can't go wrong!

I've been looking forward to Kipling's story ever since Mayor Marsha visited him in the hospital in a previous book! He really was a sweet, thoughtful guy and I loved getting to know Destiny and her younger sister, Starr. The romance was slow to build, but totally believable for these characters. It's always fun to return to Fool's Gold and find out what everyone has been up to. I'm really looking forward to the next book in this wonderful series!

I've been reading Susan Mallery's books since the 1990s, and usually she is much more entertaining than this. I almost put this book down in the middle, as it was so repetitive. How many times did we have to hear about Destiny's lousy upbringing with her parents and subsequent rescue by her grandmother? Kipling came across as a jerk when he yelled at two 15-year-olds kissing; couldn't he have had Destiny talk to Starr later in private? There were a few good moments, but all in all, this book didn't resonate with me at all.

Love the new Fool's Gold book. Destiny, who comes to town to help set up a search and rescue team doesn't want to get close to anybody. Enter her sister,, Starr whom Destiny gets guardianship over. The two girls share a father, but they really don't know each other. They have a lot of issues to overcome. Into all of this is Kipling, who also comes into Destiny's life. The girls have their ups and downs, laughs and tears. Family issues play a lot into this book, but that is what makes it good.

Don't get me wrong, I love Susan Mallery and i love Fool's Gold. There's just something in the air that draws you in. First of all this one was different. Usually the story goes girl meets boy, they resist, they fall in love, someone messes up and then they resolve their conflict. But this one resolved itself a little differently and i'm still not sure i feel about it.
I liked the character of Destiny because she reminds me of myself, she's strong but that's because she hides her feelings. Kip though.... he was a little tougher for me to like, there was just that little flaw of his that irked me. People like knowing they don't need fixing, yet he thought he could fix everything. Maybe it's just my personally, but that kind of person doesn't flow well with me. Even though their two personalities are different I really did like the way they mixed together. Her head strong-ness vs his relaxed air. They were a good match if a little rough.
And of course Fool's Gold how could you not love this not so little town and it's abundance of quirky people. Though seriously i really want to know who wins the bet. XP Happy Reading Everyone. This is something different from her usual.

Love the Series, this one not my favorite. I eagerly anticipated the release of the latest book in the Fool's Gold Series especially given the teaser about Kipling in the hospital making the deal to save his sister. When I first started reading this book, I thought that it was different than the other Fool’s Gold series. I wasn’t sure if I liked it. Then I realized, that Susan Mallery really lets us discover the characters. I think these characters were more complex. I had to watch and read what happened, I couldn’t assume that I knew how the story would play out. I was surprised many times. I found that Ms.Mallery really delved into the characters personalities. We get to discover them as they are discovering more about themselves. I loved that I had to wonder what would happen. Can’t wait to visit Fool’s Gold again.

Here is another great book from the Fools Gold Series. I would love to live in this little town where everyone loves to help each other. Destiny and Kipling both come from struggling backgrounds and have certain ideas about what they want in a relationship. Destiny has a definite plan about marriage and what she wants from a relationship but due to her inexperience she soon finds out that well made plans go out the door when you meet the real true love of your life. Kipling has to learn that love is about trust and taking a chance.

Susan Mallery is a masterful storyteller. She writes stories that are emotional and humorous reads that come from the heart. Hold Me is the story of two individuals that have been hurt by circumstances that life has bestowed on them. Now they are looking for ways to move beyond the hardships and find happiness. I loved this story. Can't wait to read the next book in the Fool's Gold series. Received this book for an honest review.

Even though I know who is going to be together almost from the start, I still love this series of books. The characters have some interesting dimensions to them and I'm always excited to read about some of the "old" characters as well. This book doesn't disappoint. We were introduced to Kipling in an earlier story so it was great to see that it is time for his story. Although the "big event" was little abrupt and the characters are a little different from others found in Fool's Gold, it is a great story. Looking forward to the next one!

When I say Hold Me, is a typical Susan Mallery book, I don’t mean that in a boring, rerun kind of way. I mean, you get what you expect: laughter, romance, and more insight into and information about the small town of Fool’s Gold. You get to visit beloved characters and meet new ones to build anticipation for upcoming stories. Destiny and Kipling’s story is no different in that sense. I love visiting Fool’s Gold and seeing characters struggle and overcome obstacles whether they are emotional or physical. Hold Me did not disappoint. Thanks for another great visit to Fool’s Gold!

I am enjoying these books, but after the first 6 the sequence is following the same prescribed order. Somewhere he is gonna mess up, the women will band together and have a drunk night. He comes to his senses and the last paragraphs they ride off to the sunset together. No matter how fractured she is...he is worse, doubtful, suspicious, and so much more....This book was slightly different in that she was the doubtful one and he wanted the relationship, but in the long run he still had to come groveling to her. And the women of Fool's Gold rallied around her. I'm getting a little tired of this series.

I just could not get into this book-I felt like it was slow and dragging and the characters-especially Destiny were too dumb to be true. Normally I cannot put down a Fools Gold book until I am finished with it but this took me 6 days to read and I usually can finish in 3-4 hours. It is a normal romance, well sort of, with a younger step sister thrown in and Mayor Marsha meetings etc but just not one of her best in my opinion.

Another installment in Susan Mallery's Fools Gold series is just what I needed! Although, not my favorite book of the series, Hold Me was a solid read. Kipling (a former Olympic skier who crashed and will never be able to ski again) and Destiny (daughter of famous country music singers, who doesn't want in the limelight and has a lot of issues because of her upbringing) each have their own issues and neither one is looking for "happily ever after." The one issue I found to be ridiculous is the fact that Destiny was a virgin who thought she had a "free pass" the first time she had sex. Pretty unbelievable for someone who was as intelligent as Destiny! Other than that flaw, I enjoyed the book a lot and look forward to my next trip to Fools Gold.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It included so many of my favorite things... family, friends, music, outdoors, technology, and of course, romance! I loved the character of Kipling and his desire to fix problems- which included Destiny. It was good to see the progress of Destiny’s interactions with her sister, as well as with her own life. I also enjoyed seeing what the other citizens of Fool’s Gold are up to. They make me want to go back and reread their stories. To sum it up, you can never go wrong with a visit to Fool’s Gold! Can’t wait for the next story!

I have always said that I would like to live in Fool's Gold. While it is listed as a small town. it feels just a bit bigger. I was fortunate enough to be on the review crew and got an early copy. I have been looking forward to this book ever since we met Kipling. I really liked Destiny and her sister Starr. I wished the book had been longer, because I felt that so much happened and some of the endings seemed rushed. It was great to "catch" up some of previous couples.

I liked the change of pace that this book offered with the story line. It was refreshing to have a heroine who’s main objective wasn’t getting the man into bed. Even though that changed much later into the book. I feel that Destiny still has a lot of growing to do with her relationships especially with her sister, so I look forward to hopefully seeing her in the additional books to this summer’s trilogy.

You can tell summer is almost here because Susan Mallory's 1st installment of her Fool's Gold trilogy has arrived. I love the Fool's Gold series. The books are fun and mindless entertainment which is good at the end of a stressful day. Destiny Mills came to town to create a search and rescue plan for the city. Kipling Gilmore was in charge of that. By the end of the book Destiny found her true passion in music. She started to develop a good relationship with her half sister that was "given" to her care by her famous rich father and found how to love. I expected to read about either some search and rescue drills with the volunteers going amiss or someone getting lost.

I always wait for Susan Mallery to publish a new book, and while "Fools Gold" books are formulaic, it's a series that I really enjoy. Kipling is our strong, damaged male lead (an Olympic skier whose career is ended by injury), and Destiny is our issue-laden heroine (from a dysfunctional family and temporarily working with the Search & Rescue team). I liked Kipling as our hero better than Destiny as heroine, although the story left me wanting to know more about him. I did like the relationship between Destiny and her sister, which seemed very real. I didn't identify with Destiny's whole "sex is just for procreation" but then having unprotected sex with Kipling. As always, Susan Mallery shines when writing dialog, because her characters draw you into the story, even when you don't initially love them. Aside from that, the plot held me to the end and I really liked the secondary characters, so I'm waiting for the next book!

This book was a tribute to family and friendship: the romance part of the story only served to emphasize it. The two main characters, Destiny and Kipling, are likeable and believable. While their relationship is the central theme, there are several back stories. Lots of humor, passion, teen angst, men behaving…well…like men …..and the return of beloved characters from the prior books. A light, absorbing read.

Susan Mallery's town of Fool's Gold is a fun place to visit. Makes me want to go there and meet all those quirky characters! It would be fun to go to a festival there where they have them regularly. Have been waiting so long for his story! Kipling finds his home at Fool's Gold with a lady who is afraid of her talent. I loved their conversations and Kipling's need to solve every problem (which is such a guy mistake?) even when not asked. Neither character is perfect but both make each other happy. The new "business venture" was hilarious with the opposition from a very likely source. I love reading this series and reading about previous main characters living their lives and getting pregnant.

I enjoy my time in Fool's Gold and while I enjoyed this story the characters seemed removed from the actual city. They hung out with previous characters but didn't really seem like a part of them. I like how Destiny grew in the story but I didn't like how all the men bailed on the Man Cave just because the wives were upset that Jo wasn't happy. In a city the size of Fool's Gold (125,482) I think 2 bars of opposite tastes would have no problem coexisting, plus everyone goes to Jo's for lunch so is it really a bar?

Susan Mallery comes through again with a heartwarming yet realistic story. Fool’s Gold is a big small town with lots of life stories with a touch of romance and fun. Destiny Mills is a young woman who knows that caring too much means she’s put down roots. Her life has never been like that and she isn’t sure what to do with Kipling Gilmore. I have read all Fool's Gold book and found this book the hardest to get into. I actually put it down (yes paperback) 3x to reread a few older books I had already read just to keep my attention. I could not relate to Destiny at all, especially her views on sex just for procreating and wanting just a friend for marriage & have a few kids, it just didn't make sense and drove me crazy everytime she went off with her beliefs. Kipling was a little better, I actually liked him, I though the whole thing with The Man Cave and people not coming was crazy and kinda immature for Fool's Gold. When Patience opened her Brew Haha store no one boycotted Starbucks or gave her problems, they supported her.
There was no real drama, ups & downs or any type of suspence in this book. It was very hard to get into and enjoy. I felt the plot was missing something, there was no chemistry with the two characters. I enjoyed catching up with Fool's Gold and seeing all the old characters.

Fool's Gold is a fascinating community as it continues to unfold in this story. Both Kipling and Destiny are new in town so if you haven't visited Fool's Gold, this would be a good book to start. I like the town of Fool's Gold and I like the idea of an all seeing Mayor Marsha. "Hold Me" is about a character that Mayor Marsha brings to town and a woman who is running from the dynamics she grew up in and desperately does not want to repeat. It is also about differing ways that people give love and need love given to them. These characters and their problem are alright but didn't engage me fully. I think my favorite parts of the book are when Felicia and her family pop up. I still love the way she thinks and processes. Getting a glimpse of others in the town is still fun.

This book was okay. I had a real problem with a population of 125,000 being considered a 'small town.' In no way shape or form is this a small town. This really bugged me from the beginning and took me away from the story, which went on too long.

I love the Fools Gold series and it only gets better with each book I read. Hold Me is the story of Destiny and Kipling. Destiny is the child of Country Music stars and longs for a peaceful, quiet life. She works for a company that creates search and rescue computer equipment. Kipling is a former US Olympic skier who was seriously injured and now works as the head of the HERO search and rescue for Fools Gold. While Destiny fights her attraction to Kipling, he is hoping for a short term affair. One night of passion leads to an unexpected pregnancy. They marry as friends but soon realize that their feelings have turned into a love to last.

Definitely not one of the FG's bests. While both Kipling and Destiny were likable enough, I definitely didn't feel the love and couldn't get invested in their lukewarm attachment. **SPOILER ALERT - No one should have to look back at their wedding and remember such a loveless, barren event. It was way too sad. END SPOILER
I agree with another reviewer that Destiny's wishful thinking about first time sex (some kind of magical pregnancy protection should apply), there's no excuse for a 28 year old having this view. Destiny's 15 year old niece would know better. Speaking of Starr, her character was pretty trite and never fully developed. And the conflict with Jo was just plain silly. I hope the next book is better developed.

I have read and enjoyed all the books in this series. I agree with others that the bar feud was unnecessary. We get that this town is full of strong women but to use their "power" to get back at Kipling for opening a "man cave" was unnecessary and unkind. I wish the music had been explored more as to what happens for Destiny with her songwriting. Maybe we'll hear more in the other two books in this portion of the series.

Kipling loves to fix everything and Destiny doesn't believe in love. A recipe for disaster but in the end love conquers all.

I've read all of the Fool's Gold books and have loved them all! Destiny and Kipling are new to Fool's Gold. Kipling is a guy that really likes to fix things that are wrong. He has a lot to fix before the two of them really make a couple. They both have very definite ideas on relationships and sometimes it's very frustrating. At times it doesn't seem like they'll ever get together, but there's always hope in Fool's Gold!

Destiny Mills didn't believe in Happy Ever After.
Kipling Gilmore was also a little jaded about HEA
They meet, and the chemistry was there
Destiny thought that she could have a relationship w/ no emotion attached.
What fun is that?
Kipling taught her wrong, and they fell in love.
This was a cute love story. I totally give a 5 star.

It is always great to go back to Fool's Gold and see what is happening in town. After an accident, Olympic skier Kipling has taken a job in Fool's Gold. Destiny is temporarily in town to install and train volunteers on Search and Rescue software. She is happy to make temporary relationships. Things change when she becomes the guardian of her younger half-sister and things heat up with Kipling. Destiny's upbringing makes their relationship difficult as well as hilarious. While I love this series and visiting with the residents, this story was not as in depth as I would have liked. I felt there could have been more to Destiny and Kipling than what we received. I will, however, read the next book in the series, Kiss Me.

I always enjoy going back to visit Fool's Gold and reading about the characters we have met and the ones that we are going to meet. I enjoyed Kipling & Destiny working together and watching their relationship develop. There is an unusual detail about Destiny that comes forward towards the end of the book that I enjoyed. Kipling is a bit more predictable but there are parts of his character that develop as the story progresses. I think he surprises himself. I really enjoyed reading the story and can't wait for the next one.

Great to have a chance to visit Fool's Gold again & get updated on everyone. The story continues with Olympic skier Kipling and his new job in Fool's Gold. Destiny is temporarily in town to install and train volunteers on Search and Rescue software. I found it sort of sad the way the relationship started with Destiny and her younger half-sister and hope that works out. I would have like to see more romance between Kipling and Destiny and let the relationship develop than in a blink of an eye. Nevertheless, I always enjoy Susan's books and hearing about Fool's Gold.

Another wonderful trip to Fool's Gold as only Susan Mallery can provide. This is a wonderful story of self discovery, doubt, and falling in love when you least expect it. The storyline is unique and the characters are remarkable. I enjoyed the book very much and can not wait for another journey to Fool's Gold.

If it’s summer, it’s that time again – another trilogy set in “Fool’s Gold”. The main characters for this book are Kipling Gilmore, whom we briefly met in a previous book, and Destiny Mills, new to town. I felt like I was never able to connect with these characters, so as such, I knew they would get together in the end, but I felt ‘eh’ about it.
And I have mentioned this in previous reviews for the “Fool’s Gold” series – but Mayor Marsha? I’m so over this character. Her ‘all-knowing’ presence grates me the wrong way. She always seems to drop in at the exact right moment with just what the particular character needs. Again, I have mentioned before I’m assuming it’s supposed to be quirky and entertaining but it’s unrealistic and annoying.
If you love the Fools Gold Series you may enjoy this installment, but for me, it was just ok. I won’t be re-reading it.

Great read! Couldn't put it down. I just couldn't wait to see what happened next. This story was much different than the stories of the other couples in Fool's Gold, and I loved it. I wondered how it was going to turn out right up until the end. So looking forward to reading the next one in the series.

Fool's Gold had me hooked after reading book 1, Chasing Perfect. Hold Me is book #16 and has the constant of wonderful weaving of characters' personalities and the charm of this small town. Catch up with previous heroes/heroines as well as dive into Kipling and Destiny's romance. Those two give Angel and Taryn a run for the STUBBORN award.

Visiting Fool’s Gold is never a disappointment. The first book in this trilogy is ‘Hold Me’ starring Kipling and Destiny. Kipling is a former Olympic skier and Destiny is a child of famous singers. They have a lot to learn about trust and love. They must work together for Mayor Marsha and for their relationship. The only jarring part of this book is the side story concerning Kipling’s new bar the ‘Man Cave’ and the feud with Jo’s Bar. This part of the story did not seem to fit Fool’s Gold mission. But it was a good read. Love Susan Mallery and her writing.

I am glad for the return of Fool's Gold. I always enjoy reading the new additions but didn't enjoy this one as much. Destiny and Kipling are cute together and their interactions at times are hilarious, but I felt something was off with their chemistry. I did like the development between Destiny and her sister especially since they were all but strangers at the beginning. Very touching. Overall a nice read for a lazy afternoon.

Fools Gold isn't home of origin for either and they seem so different but seem to be very well suited to each other. Another wonderful Fool's Gold book. With each book we, as readers, get to see what the previous characters are up to, and are introduced to new characters that you know will be seen again in future books. If you like reading series, Fool's Gold is one of the best. The books make you want to live in that town. In Hold Me, the main characters Destiny and Kipling, are drawn to each other but have issues they need to deal with. But the chemistry is unmistaken...they are attracted to each other.
