I choose this rate because the book made you want to read more and more. I liked how she starts off hating the faster home and learns how to love it. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes emotional books. Also this would interest kids ages 10 to 15.

This was an awesome book to read. It teaches allot of lessons in life like how to deal with what you have and how to treat others even when you don't know them. I Love this book because of the life lessons it gives you.

I chose this rating simply because this is one of the best books I have ever read. I loved everything about it and I hope it becomes a sequel so I can read more and more about carleys adventure! It is very sad at the end though I love this book so much it is my most favorite book I have ever read!!!!

I loved this book so very much. Maybe my favorite. It has a variety of characters with different thoughts and emotions. There are plot twists and lines that keep you gasping. This far from average book has everything that a 5 star book should have. Suspense. Developed characters. Plot twists. Emotion. My favorite book.

The general up and down trajectory of the protagonsist's feelings (about being a foster kid) were instructive and moving, but oftentimes scenes with the younger brothers were too cute-perfect, and the teenage repartee way too snappy. Then it was more like a bad Lifetime network movie.

Good read for pre-teens about friendship, family relationships, trust and love (family, not romantic). My daughter and I both enjoyed it and would recommend it for a great read. Sad, but realistic ending gave us lots to discuss about the way things work in the real world.

This sad story is truly touching to the heart. Carly, a foster child is faced with grief and betrayal but before she can know it she is a loving part of a new family. WARNING: their is not a happy ending.

This is a heartwarming story of an adolescent entering foster care for the first time after abuse from a stepfather. She discovers how a functional family operates. With this discovery comes anger towards her own mother, a desire to be a real part of her foster family, and feelings that she is unworthy of happiness. As a foster parent, I have seen this scenario played out in real life many times and know that it is realistic. I enjoyed the bittersweet ending!

This book takes the reader through a captivating tale of Carley learning to love and understand the meaning of family. The portrayal of the Murphy's struggle to accept her is warm and realistic. A quick read that tugs at the heart strings.

I absolutely loved this book. I cried at the end even though I was on a plane surrounded by people. I can't wait to have my daughter read it. I know that she is going to love it and relate to it as well.

This was a touching and believeable coming of age story. The complex issues of neglect and abuse were treated in a respectful way and honest manner, without being overly sentimental or sensationalistic. A perfect read for middle school students.

I highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy dramatic, feathered, mother-daughter reads with a bit of humor wedged in between. The story is well-written and a page-Turner, that will leave you inspired and "blubbering" at the end.

As fairly new foster parents, my step daughter chose this book to read for her pre ap class for school. I read it in a day as we raced to read it so we could talk about it. wonderful story, with an ending that made me cry.
