Great book - my son, 10 year old, loved this book. He loved how it was laid out to have many characters with different points of views at the same setting (school) and dealing with the same people and issues there. He read it quickly. Great book!

Love this book. Had never read it, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Love the various perspectives and the way the story progresses. Really is a great book. Great read aloud material for 4-6th grades. Buy it and share it. Rob Buyea is supposed to Google Hangout with us at some point to discuss it. Easily contacted on Twitter!

Fantastic piece of text that is helpful for helping students make sense of their lives both in and out of school. By taking the perspectives of each of the students in the class, the author shows the reader how we each bring our own baggage and our own experiences to every situation we find ourselves in. While the ending is a bit abrupt, it helps bring a level of realness to the text and not a picture perfect Disney ending. I highly recommend it for teachers to read with their students in the first weeks of school.

Good read. This is a good book for young readers but as an adult I enjoyed it too. Meaningful messages in the book, such as the fact that everyone has a life story and their behaviors are driven by that story. Sometimes it really takes patience and kindness to draw out the good in someone, but in the end it's worth it.

Mr. Terupt, a first year teacher, provides a lesson in caring, even from his hospital bed. Children with a lack of tolerance are brought together by this exemplary individual. This is a wonderful book to work with character development in a classroom.

this book is amazing and great for children 9 and up. it's so heartwarming and gives a great sense of urgency about what is actually going on in the world we live in today. I honestly think this story was almost the best story even.and if your reading this and you already read this book, I suggest the book, "One For The Murphy's" :) have fun reading!!!!

I'm an Elementary Education major, and I just finished this book. (In one night!) It will make you happy, sad, and cry both happy and sad tears. It will also inspire you in the way you teach. One of the best books I've read, don't pass it up!!

This book (Because of Mr. Terupt),it made me realize that even in the worst situations there is good. Even when it feels and looks like it can't get better that it can. I picked 4 stars for this book because it never gets boring. You don't want to leave Because of Mr. Terupt just lying on you bed for to long. I loved this book. I didn't really like that they didn't go into many details about most of the events and the chapters just stated the same thing in a little different way and or perspective.

Very realistic. Rob Buyea weaves an excellent tale through the voices of seven important children in a new teacher's (Mr. Terupt's) fifth grade class. At first the students just look at it as another old school year with a new teacher to tease but when he proves to outshine the earlier 'old farts', the students grow to appreciate and then love him. But when disaster strikes, the students are forced to realize that dear Mr. Terupt may not return.

I bought this book for my ten year old daughters, but after reading some of the reviews, I decided to read it before I gave it to them. I had no problem with the content of the book, and I actually really enjoyed reading it. I am glad I read it first though, and I recommend other parents do the same, because there are a lot of good conversations to be had with your children about this one.

What a beautifully written book for middle school students. Rob Buyea certainly knew where he wanted to take his characters and made them come alive.
I hope he turns this book into a series.
Our school systems need more Mr. Terupts.
Loved the cover, also. It is perfect for the story.

This was a wonderful book! Middle school students (and everyone else for that matter) will recognize the social problems and rather obnoxious behaviors that occurred frequently in Mr. Terupt's class. I loved how Mr. Terupt handled problems and how Rob Buyea "educated" his characters so that they became more open and understanding with each other. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel.

I bought this book after hearing Rob Buyea on NPR. It was supposed to be a gift for a 10-year old, but after the interview, I bought the book, read it and cried. Yep.

There are great themes to be discussed: social acceptance, family traditions, confidence (or lack thereof), etc. There are wonderful conversations waiting to be had over this book! I recommend reading it as a family!
