When an ungifted gets sent to a gifted program by mistake, hilarious things can happen. I loved each of the characters, the honesty and candid humor in their thoughts and reactions. It's a fun read with a great lesson, that we are all gifted in some way and that friendship is the greatest gift of all, but the book is far from preachy.

As an educator at a private school for students with learning differences, this story hits home for my kids. Korman questions what makes a student "gifted" and what happens when that qualification is thrown out. The characters are real and the plot is believable and appropriate for middle grade readers. The perspective change is well done and adds dynamic layers to the storyline. Not necessarily a life changing novel, but one that should be included in the must read list for pre/teens.

Required summer reading for my son's English class. Arrived in good condition and on time. He enjoyed the story enough that he read it through in just two sittings. Anything that can distract from video games must be a pretty good read. :)
