Joley and Ilya are my favorite couple in drake sisters <3 their chemistry was amazing :) I'm kinda excited to know that they will probably have seven sons. :) and so glad that spinoff is about Ilya's brothers. I hope they have a family bond together and we will get to see Ilya :) I enjoyed reading this book but kind of wished it didn't show Joley's band much since I felt that took Joley and Ilya spotlight but overall it was really good.

I love Christine Feehan books. This book like many of her others has a fast moving plot with multiple characters. I also like that good always wins out and love is forever. It is a honourable read and I like it.

[Spoiler Alert] I read this book in one night. It was great. Totally what I have been waiting for. I loved the byplay between Ilya and Joley, how both of them need to learn to trust and learn to love. You really see why they were meant to be together in the end when Joley agrees to marry him. That was the scene when it all came together for me. The only thing I did not like was the unlike all the other Drake Sister books, the rest of the sisters also play a roll. Not in this book, they don't come into until the end. But there is a reason for that Joley and Ilya's story needed to be told in the world of music and focus on her music life and wrap up the puzzle of Sergi Nitikin. What's more you learn why Joley needs Ilya and why Ilya needs Joley.

It was a great book and I highly recomend it.

This is maybe my favourite Drake sister's book, who don't want an Ilya for herself? This man has everything: charm, mystery, character and everything in a hot hot body!
If you buy this book I can promise one thing: You're not going to be disappointed at all. It is so well writen that you have to read it from cover to cover without a break.

This book does not do a good enough job of explaining all the people and relationships to be a standalone. However, even in spite of being part of a series, I expect a book to be well-written, and this one just felt amateurish. There were small info dumps scattered everywhere throughout the book. It might be as little as one long paragraph, but it happened so often that it kept taking you out of the story. There were constant POV switches, sometimes in every paragraph for a whole page, and most of those switches weren't signaled to the reader. I'd be a sentence or two into a paragraph when I'd realize we'd had a switch and I'd have to reread to figure out whose head we were in. Some key pieces of info for the plot were deliberately kept from the reader yet the characters had figured it out off-page, and the reader's supposed to accept these revelations when the time comes (an example is when Joley is attacked in her dressing room near the end of the book and she had seen and ID'd the attacker before the attack, yet the reader doesn't know this until the middle of the attack, WTF). Even pieces of info that had nothing to do with the plot were clumsily revealed, for instance Ilya gets the upper hand on an attacker because he suddenly has this OTHER magical power that wasn't mentioned before EVEN THOUGH WE'RE HALFWAY THROUGH THE BOOK.

This book gets 3 stars from me because the plot was fairly interesting in spite of the bad writing and because I don't like to judge a book too harshly if I haven't read the previous books in a series. Otherwise it would only get a 2 or 2.5.

This book is a little different from the others in the sense that the story/ main plot line is beyond twisted and super dark and deep and deals with situations that are extremely dark and things that I know go on in the real world but wish didn't. Things like insane amounts of drugs at parties, underage girls, kidnappings, Russian Mobsters and so much more. I think that Ms. Feehan did a great job with these topics, but them into light for people to see and then created this beautiful love story around it! I love Ilya and how tough he is and the way he treats Joley is beautiful! It is also a super fun introduction to a male magical line and the idea that there potentially could be more out there (Hint, hint, nudge, nudge) This was a great read and makes it hard to believe that this series is almost over.

Turbulent Sea is Book 6 in the Drake Sisters series. I have read books 1, 2, 5, and 6. Books 1 and 2 were okay, but nothing too special, IMO. I guess it's a toss up between books 5 and 6. I liked them each about the same, but for different reasons.

The star of this book is most definitely the hero, Ilya, a Russian undercover agent determined to stop a multi-national sex trafficking scheme. He falls hard for Joley, a superstar singer and one of the seven magical Drake sisters. Joley's life is threatened and Ilya will do anything to protect her and ....umm...have her. For his own. For ever. Cuz she's the only one who ever broke through his ice-cold skin and brought sunshine and warmth back into his soul. It's insta-love, and since they met in a prior book, we just have to go with that.

Anyway, I loved Ilya. Right from the start, he wants Joley for his own, but she fears that he will bed and abandon her. He must convince her that he wants a lifetime, not just a weekend. Plus, he is soooo alpha protective of her -- nothing can stop him. Loved it!

Ahhh...I was soooo happy to see Ilya get his HEA. At the end, Joley and the magical Drake house welcomed him home. Sweet.

Lots of hot sexy stuff going on in this book, because Ilya is magical, too. She feels him inside her mind and body. They can nearly reach orgasm with a lick, a look.

Suspense: Who done it?? Feehan kept me guessing to the end -- almost -- as to the identity of the killer, the traitor in Joley's band. I thought she did a fairly good job, dropping breadcrumbs but not giving anything away. She also dropped some red herrings, but that's part of the suspense game, so all good.

On the down side, Feehan created an imbalance of power between the protagonists and the antagonists. That imbalance made it almost impossible to feel the psychological tension of a true suspense thriller. After all, both Joley and Ilya -- and all 6 of Joley's sisters -- are magical. They ALL have special gifts (healing, foresight, telekinesis, etc) and collectively they can harness the wind and waves. Joley and Ilya can speak telepathically, so a nonfunctioning cell phone means nothing. That's the good guys.

The bad guys?? They are just humans. Mobsters and misfits with guns, bombs and broken bottles. No contest.

Weak writing style: Feehan is pretty repetitive in describing sexual attraction and physical appearance. She's not one to focus on the great sex organ upstairs, but on physical responses elsewhere (lots of womb clenching, etc.)

This series has been pretty great....but this book of it seems different...lacking.
For starters there's very little sister interaction which is a huge theme in the previous books to support the overall family values. Secondly there are several things that seem to be extremely redundant throughout the book between Tish ,Brian and couple others as though they were just fillers and she had no real substance to them in any way or manner. Some better filler might have been more between the sisters or further back into Joley's love interest , IIya's history.
However Feehan stays very consistent with her romance side of the story if not for the original theme of magick being majorly absent. And although it seems to take too many chapters for it to pick up in any way to capture the reader's attention beyond the initial interest of the mystery of IIya , there are several twists and turns with some action involved, (not so greatly written) that will keep your attention to wonder what may come next.

Fabulous! Being a siren singer was a part of her that made her world famous. However she wouldn't stand by and see that someone close to her is using her fame to run an underage girl sex ring. Can she find out who is behind it all? Can she keep her new security man out of her heart. The sisters again show their strengths and the commitment they have to each other and the innocents surrounding them. My hard copy is now the worse for wear due to being constantly read.

Joley Drake sixth daughter of the Drake clan, is a rock superstar whose voice can mesmerize an audience. Along with her highly sexy body and gorgeous looks she could have any lover she wanted. Unfortunately, someone wants her dead and her Russian bodyguard, Ilya Prakenskii simply wants her - body and soul. A year ago Ilya marked Joley as his and has invaded her mind ever since with constant whispers in her head, but his ties and murky reputation as an assassin for the Russian mob frighten her more than her physical yearnings for him.

Ilya is a mystery to Joley and to her family. He seems to have all the same mystical gifts her sisters possess yet his aura is black, and violence seems to follow him. Joley knows if she surrenders to Ilya's passion she might be inviting danger to her family as well; even though with him she, in spite of knowing he is a killer, feels completely safe.

*** After reading this bewitching series from the start, it seems Feehan has raised the bar higher and higher for each book in terms of dangerous heroes. To me Ilya is a dream. Who was he really - man or beast? Talk about deep, dark and mysterious - Ilya sets the standard in this series and oh, what a surprise to discover his secrets! And, Ilya's secret was not the only one revealed but fortunately those secrets and the fun of discovery is not going to be spoiled by me. Just one hint though - Joley was in for a BIG surprise.

The romance and the sensual passion embroiled in this romance is hot and though it gives the impression that Ilya wants to control Joley, it's more than that because what he really wants is to love and protect her. As close as Joley is to her sisters, it is the other members of her family - her band - that she clings to and Feehan gives us several great characterizations of these secondary characters who are so special in Joley's life. Feehan shows Joley's deep connection and love for these guys in a very special and unique bond.

Feehan also paints an exciting tableau of villains and keeps the reader on the edge of their seat with anticipation of their next fiendish moves.

Bottom line: Reading any of the Drake Sister novels by Ms. Feehan is like trying to eat just one Lay's potato chip; it can't be done, you simply have to have more and more and Feehan, thank goodness, keeps delivering.

TURBULENT SEA
CHRISTINE FEEHAN
Paranormal Romance

Rating: 4 Enchantments

Joley Drake is one of seven sisters who all have powers. Joley's voice holds her power. She can influence and persuade people just by simply speaking. Her singing voice is so powerful that she has a strong fan base. But some of the fans are becoming too obsessed and to the point of dangerous. Ilya Prakenskii seems to have a magical hold on her because he is all she can think of. Will he be able to save her from the threats she faces or is he just as dangerous as her stalker?

Ilya Prakenskii is bodyguard to one of the most well-known Russian hit men. And he is not known for good reasons. Appearances seem that Ilya is one of the bad guys, but is that really what is going on? Ilya knows that Joley is destined to be with him but he is not willing to force the idea on her. She has to make that decision on her own.

Joley Drake is on the road with her band. While they are living the high life, partying, drinking, drugs, and having women come and go from their beds, Joley is stuck night after night not even being able to sleep. When Joley gets the news that Logan's baby was on its way she jumped at the opportunity to go and tell him. At least that is why she told herself she was going. Truth was that she craved Ilya. Her body and her soul wanted to be near him, see him, and hold him. If only they would listen to her head. A girl at that party goes missing and it is when Joley talks to the girl's mother that her suspicions are true. The girl is nothing more than a child. Joley suspects she knows who is responsible but when he turns up dead, she doesn't know what to think. Who among them is a murderer? Who is sending her threatening messages? And where is the girl? Joley only finds herself deeper in mystery when she uncovers a human trafficking operation.

TURBULENT SEA is the sixth book in the Drake sister's series. I have been craving this story ever since Hannah and Jonas's book, Safe Harbor. Ilya was such a mysterious character that you could not help but to wonder who and what is he? Well TURBULENT SEA answers all. I think that out of all the Drake sisters she is the one that I am most alike. She has a kick butt attitude, yet emotional and caring. Ilya gave me goose bumps. His character was exactly what I want in a man, just don't tell my husband. The way that Joley and Ilya interact is something that should not be missed. Turbulent Sea is a great addition to the Drake sister series and I can not wait to see what Elle's story, Hidden Current, will bring!

Christine Feehan's "Turbulent Sea," is book 6 in the Drake Sisters series. I have to admit, I have been looking forward to this story above all the others. Not for the heroine, Joley, but for Ilya Prakenskii, the mysterious Russian we met in Oceans of Fire (Drake Sisters, Book 3) and who saved Hannah's life in "Safe Harbor (Drake Sisters, Book 5)."

Joley is a rock star out on tour. She's been getting threats for ages from stalkers and over-zealous fans, but now she's facing real danger. A teenage girl disappeared at an after-party for Joley's band. And shortly after that, the roadie who was last seen with girl, was killed. Ilya shows up to be Joley's bodyguard. And boy, does he ever take care of her body! You can cut the sexual tension between these two with a knife. There is all kinds of drama with the relationships involving band members... plus a dash of Russian mob intrigue... but the real draw here is the relationship between the main characters.

WHAT WORKS:
See sexual tension above. And hot sex scenes. Feehan delivers the goods here.

WHAT DIDN'T:
I didn't care much about the secondary characters: Brian and Nikitin, the band-guy with the new baby and estranged wife. Plus -I didn't really get Joley's revulsion at her own needs/desires in her lover. She likes a manly man, who is in control but still respects her. Yet, she acts like she is a freako-deviant because of it. It's not that weird, Joley.

OVERALL:
I really liked it. Although, it's likely because I really like Ilya. More Prakenskii's please! 4 1/2 stars.

Oh, did I really enjoy this one. Full of fire and ice, temptation and inner battles.

I'd always liked Joley, right from the start. Regardless of her lifestyle, I knew she wasn't like her sisters, that there was something different about her. I always felt that, even surrounded by those who loved her, she still had this are about her, the sense that she was alone in a room filled with people... I'm glad to say - Not Anymore!

Any reader who reads this book would feel the deep-seeded connection between Joley and Ilya - and I'm talking about before this novel. In this one, it only intensifies. She doesn't want to want him, but yet she can't stop herself. And when he's near, the burning inside for him grows enough that it scares her. Her inner struggle: she is terrified of giving herself to anyone, let alone Ilya; terrified of losing herself, of losing who she is.

Ilya feels her desire and taunts her, and himself, mercilessly. He knows deep down that she is `The One'.

Feehan delivers and exciting, terrifying ride for the reader: from intense erotic love scenes to intense action scenes, both sending the readers hearts pounding.

I did find, however, that scenes unfolded more around the secondary characters than Joley and Ilya. Right to the end, I was irked that Ilya didn't share his past sufficiently with Joley. He hurt her doing that, as it would/did hurt me. He needs to learn to trust Joley, and I really do hope that someday it'll come. Sure, he finally admits to what he does near the end, but he still doesn't trust her fully as to the things he's done, the things he's seen, his childhood. And out of all the Drake Sisters novels, I felt a little off by that. He may admit he loves her, but for me, it wasn't enough.

For that reason, I can't give it a full mark.

Joley Drake is one of seven daughters of a seventh daughter and endowed with special gifts that could be both blessing and curse. It was her spell-singing talent that made her a megastar. When she opens her mind she can feel the hopes and dreams of the people in the audience. Jerry, the band's manager, has warned Joley that the threats against her have been escalating. Seems she has at least one nutcase fan fixating on her, not to mention the holier-than-thou slime calling himself "the Reverend". But the only man that Joley craves is Ilya Prakenskii, a man too dangerous for her in so many ways. Ever since he had zapped her palm with a spell months ago her palm has been imprinted with his touch and his scent. She has been marked as his.

Ilya is the lead bodyguard of Sergei Nikitin. Nikitin's public image is of a charming businessman. But Nikitin is more of a Russian mobster with a violent and bloody past. Nikitin even has Brian, Joley's best friend and lead guitarist, believing he is harmless. But Joley is a Drake. She can read people through touch. And she can feel the darkness and evil in Nikitin without laying a finger on him. Ilya is a different story though. And when Joley's life is threatened on tour, she has no choice but to let down her mental guards and let Ilya in.

***** You do not need to read the previous titles in this series to totally enjoy it, but you should if you wish the full effect. The author did a fantastic job at updating new readers to the series, and refreshing the memories of others, without making it sound like a lecture. Author Christine Feehan always strives to please! *****

Rock and roll superstar Joley Drake loved to sing but hated touring. Touring had an adverse affect on the band. Her "boys" as she called them, were too easily temped by the drugs, alcohol, and women that were so readily available. Joley didn't party. As one of the magical Drake sisters she could not and would not poison her body.

Joley was not happy. Part of it was watching her band members slowly spiral downward, but the biggest factor was Ilya Prakenskii. Like Joley, Ilya had magical talents. At their last meeting, Ilya used his skills to mark her and now she couldn't get him out of her mind. She would not succumb to temptation. Rather than use his talent for the greater good, Ilya was a hit man. Joley would not give herself to a man like that.

Unable to sit alone in her tour bus for another night, Joley headed to a party claiming she had to deliver a message to one of the band members. Joley knew better than to attend one of Nikitin's parties. He was Ilya's boss and a major player in the Russian mob. Nothing good would come from it. Attending the party was a mistake. She saw several underage teens with members of her road crew, spotted her band members compromising their personal relationships with groupies, and then there was Ilya. She finally gave in and offered herself to him and her turned her down!

With her life already in the toilet, it took a turn for the worse. The underage girls spotted at the party had disappeared and she feared someone on her road crew was involved. When she started asking questions, the threats against her person intensified. The murder made to look like a Russian mob hit capped it. With his bosses blessing, Ilya took over as Joley's personal body guard.

Knowing Ilya had an ulterior motive didn't matter. People were dying and girls were disappearing. Joley needed help. She would find a way to deal with her attraction to Ilya. He shunned her once. It would not happen again. She would not sacrifice her heart and soul on the alter of lust, not even for a night with Ilya Prakenskii.

Turbulent Sea is the latest Drake sister romantic suspense. The relationship between Ilya and Joley has been stirring for awhile. While the story line if full of action and the subplots good, the plot is a little thin. It was the turbulent relationship between Ilya and Joley that kept me glued to my seat and turning the pages. It's a great romance if that's what you're looking for, I highly recommend this book. If you are looking for a great suspense, I'd look elsewhere.

This is the book that a lot of people that read this series have been waiting for. Joley Drake, the bad girl. Well you learn that she's not so bad afterall. This isn't a stand alone book. You probably do need to read the beginning part of the series in order to get all the relationships and why people are acting like they are. However, Ms. Feehan does a good job of backtracking to fill in if you are reading this book without the others. I really enjoyed the interaction between Joley and Ilya in this book. You felt like they were connected intellectually not just physically. This book wasn't a pure romance novel since there has been a 5 previous book built up. You know about their attraction to each other so you don't even need that. This book is about the mystery that has been a backstory with Joley throughout the series. You get closer and closer to finding out about the Russian mob. You also meet Joley's second family, her band. I found two members of the band fully developed but most of them were just throwaway characters that didn't add to the story. I was also a little disappointed that the Drake family didn't play a larger part in this story. However it does foreshadow the next book about Elle and Jackson and how things may all come to a head. I'm definitely looking forward to it. I would recommend this book to all Christine Feehan lovers and especially those that have been following the series all along.

I have been a big fan of Christine Feehan for a long time, so much so that if a book came out before pay day I had to have it even if it meant forgoing a pack of cigarettes or eating out that week. I've been disappointed in the last few books I've read by this author, finding them medicore and off key. But, I'm excited to say that Feehan seems to have found her A-Game with Turbulent Sea.

Joley and Ilya's story takes us on the road with Joley and the band. We see what life is like for Joley and how hard it is to be in the spotlight all the time. As the book progresses Joley has to learn to trust Ilya with more than just her body and he has to trust her with his happiness and his heart.

Joley is in danger on several different fronts and it's up to Ilya to protect her and maintain his cover. We don't really see much of the other Drake sisters, as Joley is on the road until the last few chapters of the book. But, Feehan represents them through phone calls until they pull together in typical Drake fashion at the end.

This book is Feehan as I've always loved her. I hope that Elle and Jackson's story is just as good. Who knows, maybe Feehan will write another series featuring Joley and Ilya's sons. Finding out that he is the seventh son of a seventh son was one of the best parts of the book because of Joley's reaction.

Gotta love it! 5 Stars!!!

This book was on hold at the library as it's not available as an eBook in our eLibrary. I was pleased that it didn't take long to arrive.

However, that changed once I began to read it. This has to be the most boring book I've read in ages. The story line, once you find it, is solid but it's covered six foot deep in maundering cliches about the two protagonists' personalities as people of magic.

I'l admit I skipped half the story and read the last chapter for closure. Big deal. No fireworks there either.

I felt the need to write this review because, as much as I love CF, I was a little nervous about this book. I always look foward for months for her new releases but the last two drake books have disappointed me, especially Safe Harbor. Considering how much chemistry the two mains had in previous books, I felt it fell flat of any real connection. And many of the reviews about this book complained of the same thing here. But i wanted to assure readers that is not the case!! Actually I thought this book did a great job of really connecting the two character so you could really feel that their chemistry was so much more than physical, something I feel feehan sometimes fails to do. The book was fast moving and i had a hard time having to put it down.
There were a couple things I didnt love. Of course i wish the sister were in it more, as their interactions always add so much! It didnt ruin the book but I would have liked it. Also I do wish Ilya could have actually shared some of his past with joley instead of leaving out details and making her figure it out for herself. Even after she was clearly hurt that he would give her anything about his childhood he just apologized and they let it go at that. That would never fly in real life. Lastly, the whole marking this with his lineage? Its a bit too similar to the Dark series and it isnt really neccessary. Feehan has been doing fine without it. Otherwise stellar work! Possibly my fav in her series.

******Warning may be some spoilers*****

I was dying for this book...I was checking so often to make sure I did not miss the release date. Joley next to Abigail's story was by far the most highly anticipated one on my part. I hate saying this, because I love Feehan's writing, but it was not what I expected and a bit disappointing. It was missing something...I wanted the joley who proclaimed to be a black belt, who confronts a perverted reverand on live TV, and someone who is loyal and dedicated enough to go the extreme dangerous mile to maybe help and investigate the people in distress in the book.

The drake series is my favorite---having many sisters of my own I can try to relate---and it involves smart, strong, women who find smart, strong, men who accpet their magickal side and are greta in bed as they should be ;)

So back to Joley's story, there was some good action on both the sensual and danger side. But I wanted more depth from Ilya more background---yeah we get he was trained young and he was sapped of emotion in order to survive that is not new---this book had me thinking of dark series as soon as I read a couple chapters---which is ok for the dark series---BUT---NOT great when is comes to drake series.

I was really hoping that feehan would delve into elle's story but I think I could live with it so long as Elle's story picks up from when she suddenly vanishes and everyone is searching for her.

So to conclude this looooong spiel---joley's story: a bit of a let down but I bought it and have read it 3 times so far so what can I say oh yeah--- ELLE'S STORY BETTER BE LONGER AND MORE ACTION PACKED cus it is the most important of the drake stories although I wouldn't mind continueing the saga with Ilya and Joley's 7 sons!!!! WOOT love that twist!

Joley Drake, one of the most successful and famous singers of the world, and with magic running through her veins, is in a tour of shows with her band. The Russian mobster Nikitin is there frequently, and so is Ilya Prakenskii, the man who'd marked Joley and one she can't get out of her head.
After the disappearance of a minor in a party held by Nikitin during the tour, a murder, and threats against Joley, Ilya becomes her personal bodyguard, creating a very explosive situation between them.

I was a little bored in some parts of the first half of the book. Joley and Ilya have so much sexual tension that is difficult to develop in depth other aspects of their relationship.
The second half was much better. Joley is crazy but torn about Ilya. Her body and her soul claim for him, but her head doesn't think the same. All the rumors say Ilya is a hit man, and he doesn't deny it. Because of it, Joley can't trust him. Also, she doesn't think she's worthy of love, because of her "dark needs". Not very believable, really. Although I liked her, she wasn't as strong as in previous books.
Ilya is an authoritarian and domineering man with a strong personality, who knows Joley is his, and he will do anything to get her. He wants her trust and love, a future together, but at the same time, because of the harsh life he had, he finds difficult to open to her.
I liked how their relationship was developed, how they began to know intimately each other, their fears, their plans for the future, the real Joley and Ilya.
Regarding side stories, there are some romances among the band members, and as always, the rest of the Drakes make appearances. I missed Elle and Jackson, as they are the couple of the next book, but well, I suppose not all of them could appear here.
And well, if I liked it, why not 5 stars? Perhaps I had too many expectations regarding Joley and Ilya. I liked them a lot in the previous books, but their story didn't excite me as much as I hoped. Even so, I liked it, and I recommend it to all Drake sisters' fans.

I love this book! The chemistry between these two is at times difficult for them both to understand. They often end up hurting each other by doing or saying the wrong thing-how many times does that happen in real life? How can you trust each other if you feel you can't trust yourself? This is the fundamental question that both Ilya and Joley must answer before they can truly commit to each other; and then of course there are Joley's "dark desires". Many who have already have written reviews seem to have a hard time grasping where Christine Feehan was going, wondering if it was possibly a BSDM reference. I have a different idea on the statement she was trying to make. In our society women are, generally speaking, supposed to want a relationship where they take the lead just like the man and decisions are a 50/50 affair, especially if you're a superstar...But what if you had a dark desire for a man who would be dominating and who would take care of you? Who would tell you what to do? Who would cherish you; treat you the way you really want to be treated? Like Joley said to Hannah in "Turbulent Sea", "I despise men weaker than me and hate men who are stronger than me. That pretty much leaves me nowhere to go." I feel that deep inside some women want the man who will take control, be loving and gentle, yet ruthless and arrogant all at the same time; the problem is Joley likes things that she feels she's not supposed to like, she loves Ilya's dominating ways and that's what causes her a problem. Joley has to learn just like all her other sister's to accept herself for who she is. The truth of the matter finally comes to light and Joley learns -In order to truly belong to someone you have to love and accept yourself as you truly are. This was an amazing book! I can barley wait for Jackson and Elle's book! Keep up the good work!

I don't do reviews often, I don't feel comfortable doing so. However, I wanted to put in my two cents.

I was waiting on pins and needles for this book, and I was not disapointed, for the most part.

My review may be more in answering how I see the relationship between all the sisters and also Jolie with Illya.
Having read other reviews, I can agree I would have liked and believed the other sisters should have been more in the book. And I would have liked to see the book set up for Ellie's and Jackson's story. My suspicion is Ellie is somehow working on exposing RJ for the evil person he is.

As for Jolie and Illya, I could see where she felt separate from her sisters. When you look at them, Katie doesn't have a mean bone in her body--her gift is totally giving. Abby has a temper, yes, but she also is giving and more important, she is willing to forvie others; Libby and Hannah, they both place others ahead of themselves although differently, Libby as a doctor and Hannah due to her nurturing (not because she is female), which is just her makeup.
Jolie, she is fire--she get mad easily and she has a hard time forgiving. She can hold a grudge and lashes out and doesn't feel guilty, generally, over it.
What causes her to feel she is different and can't share that with her sisters is she believes if her sister's truly knew those aspects about her they wouldn't love her. Illya however, has experienced all the darkness and he can see past her "darkness", Jolie has seen goodness, she doesn't realize her "bad" parts are not nearly as bad as she perceives them. Illya needed a fiesty mate, someone who will stand up to him and Jolie will, but he needed someone who can bring light, and Jolie does have light, she just can't see it because her sisters light seem to overshine her's. Jolie needs someone who can control her and not see her "darkness" in a negative manner and help her in accepting that part of herself, Illya can do that. (sheesh, I seeming to make this like the Dark series, light to darkness).

As for the story, the beginning did seem to drag a little slow. But the rest is well worth it. The subplot with Brian and Sergi, that was a total shock to me and I loved where C.F. threw everyone for a loop in that aspect.
Illya's seeming to be milder than what he was in Hannah's story is due to the fact he had time after he met the family for the gentle side of him to grow. And he had to appear dark looking at the type of job he was doing. The "niceness" of him was shown several times, protecting the hostage, his wife, Abby at the beginning when she was in the house, and there to help at the end. He did keep the dark side visible to others, but to Jolie, he showed the gentle side of himself.

Why four stars? There is always room for improvement in any books, my main reasons: it did start a little slow; there should have been more of the other sisters and there should have been a setup, even if just a tad bit, of Ellie and Jackson, althogh the stating she was undercover did somewhat.
I have read it twice now, first to find out what happens, the second time to examine it, pros and cons of it. There are definitely more pros than cons.

I'll get the tough part out of the way first. Initially I couldn't like Joley Drake. She's fabulously beautiful, wealthy, and famous. She's loved and protected by everyone (so much so that it felt cloyingly too-sweet). She grew up in a large, happy family. She's one of the 'beautiful people,' and boy howdy is it difficult to identify with a heroine like that. Particularly when she seems to find every reason possible to whine about her life and problems. Yeah, I get that fame isn't so wonderful, and being beautiful and sexy has its down-sides. But that doesn't make it any easier to take Joley seriously when she's freaking out over whether people would really like her any more if they knew she kinda likes it when Ilya is strong and controlling toward her.

The book also had the feel of a soap-opera. Everybody's rich and famous, drop-dead sexy, in organized crime, etc. Everybody has a stalker, or a dark secret, or an estranged wife, or an illegitimate child. Some of the side plots are really well-played and portrayed, but that didn't change the fact that the sheer number of them was ridiculous.

Still, I gave this book a four out of five, and it's time I explained why. First of all, some of those side plots really did have a lot to them. There's a romance that was just beautifully portrayed. Second, Joley becomes more likable early enough in the book to keep her from being a real problem. Third, the 'who's trying to kill Joley and why' plot is quite interesting. There's more to it than normal for a romance novel, and it did keep me guessing.

Finally, and most important, is Ilya himself. Until the first time we get into his head, he comes across as the exact same kind of domineering, controlling, arrogant 'alpha male' lead that shows up in far too many romance novels, and that too often has very little actual personality. Ilya, however, has a complex and layered personality. His need for control is explained and understandable, and neither simple nor straightforward (nor total). He and Joley had plenty of chemistry, and if you're looking for a romance with a sexy male lead, this is definitely it! [Usual adult material warning: explicit sex scenes.]

I've been a Christine Feehan fan for quite some time now. And I would have to agree with some of the reviews which note the last few Drake Sister novels have been fallen a little flat for me. I expected Hannah and Jonas to be a lot better than it was, and was let down. I was very mixed after that book. Jolie and Ellie's story from the beginning have been the ones I couldn't wait for.

This story was exactly what I was expecting. I think it was well written, I wasn't ever bored and the fire and passion were there. I loved finding out about the mark that Ilya put on Jolie. I kept waiting for Ilya to have the heart to heart with Jolie, the here's my life and what I've been through, you never really get that. Jolie is very tolerating of the fact she really doesn't know too much (which I thought was against her character). She also kept talking about dark desires and how she wasn't worthy, and didn't really see any of those either. I loved that my suspicions were proven about Ilya. I think that was a great way to continue the story for Christine Feehan after Ellie's book!

I would agree the secondary character chatter is quite involved, but I didn't feel it was trying to take over the story. There's alot of characters in this story. You meet the whole band and find out quite a bit about them. Turns out Jolie may be the most layed back of them all.

In one of the reviews someone said the "Mine" was reminiscent of the Carpathian series... you know.. I don't care what the book is, when a very alpha male says mine.. it doesn't get sexier than that!!

Overall loved the book. I think those who felt a little let down with Hannah's book will be fulfilled with this one. I really can't wait for Ellie's story now. I think Jackson will be quite the alpha male. YUM!!

Couldn't wait for this book to come out. I was up until 2:00 am reading.

I love Ilya, and after understanding his childhood and backstory, I can understand his trust issues...but I still don't understand the full angst, trust and "dark needs" that Joley felt so strongly did not allow for her to be loved and always separated her from being her "true self" with her sisters and everyone else around her.

Without any real explanation in her background for this, it felt like a plot contrivance to keep her from reaching out. In fact, Ilya was more inclined to reach through her silly barriers than she was each time they interacted. Addtionally, access to her from random/crazy/bad people and the amount of times she was in danger was ridiculous.

On the other hand, the musical subplot and mystical use of rhythm and chords was expertly done. For a non-musical person like me, I still fully understood it and felt the connection between the two completely and utterly. That kind of writing is impressive to me. Between that and the subplot with Brian and Nikitin, that saved the book despite the heroine's eye-rolling self esteem issues.

I've been waiting for this book for a long time. And while it was a fair-to-middling book, I'm sorry to say I don't feel it was worth the wait - or $7.99, for that matter. Many others have noted things about the book which I both enjoyed or found annoying or perplexing, so I'll focus on just a few that hop immediately to mind:

The book was perhaps well-researched in terms of the life of a touring musician, dealing with groupies, the tabloids, and so on, but in my opinion it never made that jump to convincing or authentic, maybe in part because we never saw Joley living that life. She lived alongside it. She held herself apart. Where was the carefree "wild child" we'd been led to expect in previous books? This wasn't her, and I'm not sure which impression is the accurate one, but they didn't integrate. There were some aspects of Joley's character that I just didn't get - what was this "dark need" that Joley had? If Feehan was trying to suggest that Joley was into BDSM, dominance play and the like, it was never made clear, and because of this Joley's character doesn't feel understandably conflicted or motivated to me, and I was left with the impression that Feehan backed off, chickened out, and left character development in the lurch. And at about the quarter-way point, I'd already had quite enough of the heavy-handed musical analogies and extended metaphors. A little goes a longway. Where's the deft touch we're used to seeing from vintage Feehan?

Ms. Feehan is a successful author and needs no advice, but if I could offer some, it would be SLOW DOWN. Publish fewer books per year, at a higher level of quality. We'll wait. ;-)

I have to say I didn't much care for most of the books in this series but the set up for the last three sisters kept me reading through the first four books. And I was REALLY disappointed with Hannah & Jonas's book Safe Harbor (book #5). That said Turbulent Sea was worth the wait and worth all the annoyances of some of the other books!

Joley is one messed up chick (like all Feehan's heroines), she's got power, a strong moral code, and thinks about others WAY before she starts thinking about herself. But of course she doesn't see any of this. She sees a rocker chick who once upon a time for like five minutes gave in to the seduction of being a super star and has come to the conclusion if anyone could see the "real" her they couldn't possibly love her (not even her sisters).

Yeah the girl is the emo one in this story. Before you roll your eyes and take a pass, you have to check out Ilya...

Ilya is one smokin' hot man-witch... warlock?... super-assassin?... whatever you want to call him, he's powerful, he's hot, and he's totally in love with Joley from page 1. They first met in book 3? or 4? and Feehan enjoyed dangling him in front of me like a snickers bar...

So yeah, back to the review. Ilya lived up to my expectations, which were pretty high so yay for him! We get explanations for his powers and the mark Joley has on her hand that even a monkey could have predicted but it was still satisfying. The chemistry between the two of them was great! But watching them FINALLY get together was like watching a tennis match where the players randomly leave the court only to return five minutes later ready to WIN just as the other player decides to leave! One minute he wants her, then when she wants him he doesn't want her, vice versa, etc, etc, ad nauseum.

Even through the push-pull, make up your freakin' minds already, craziness I still wanted to see what happened next. In my opinion, Feehan had provided so much back story in the previous installments she was left with a conflict already having been established and decided to beat it like a dead horse instead of coming up with something new. But by the time they start working together it was standing ovation worthy and I was one happy reader.

The back story was actually really good and included a few surprises I was VERY happy with. Nikitin's (you know the Russian mob dude who got all stalker-happy on Joley in the previous books?) obsession with Joley is explained in a way I didn't see coming and the end... well you just have to read it to believe it. I was expecting that explanation to be the typical "see he's this way so that's why he's villain!" and was all set to be offended but Feehan turned it around and I really felt for him by the end of the book.

We see into the lives of Joley's band. They aren't always likable, they aren't all punks, they are real and I was just as interested to see how they cleaned up their lives as I was to see if Ilya would finally get into Joley's pants. (Don't worry he does! And it's hot!!)

One last thing (I promise!) I felt a few of the previous books were bogged down by the inclusion of ALL those sisters (and their men too!). That's a lot of strong willed opinionated powerful (and yet strangely unsure, doubting themselves, super vulnerable chicks) to have to put up with. So never fear, they are in the book BUT they only show up near the end when it actually makes sense in the storyline for them to actually be there!

Overall a very enjoyable read and I am really looking forward to the next and last book.

Even though Ilya is one of my favorite secondary characters, I was disappointed in this book.

I found the musical analogies forced and discordant, to the point I started skimming the description until I reached dialogue. I don't mind when an author has their character see, taste, smell, or feel music--if it's done well.

In her Dark series, Feehan has been sucussful using music as an additional or enhanced "sense"--particularly in "Dark Symphony" (Byron and Antonietta's book) and with her Dark Troubador characters.

Part of my disappointment occurred because I had just reread Marjorie Liu's "Soul Song" and her Hunter Kiss series where the author is extremely successful using music as an enhanced sense.

I started the book expecting Chopin (or at least Scott Joplin) and ended up with Hanon.

I have fallen in love with the Drake family. Abby and Hannah were my favorite and I loved Joley's wild streak. In fact, I first read Oceans of Fire first which is Abby's story. When I read that book I had to go back and read the entire Drake series. When I first read Oceans of Fire I was so disappointed that Feehan did not include a love story with Hannah and Jonas (which turns out later Hannah got her story) and I was disappointed that I didn't know more about Ilya and I thought I could see a little whisper of a Joley and a Ilya relationship for the future (and I guess I was right about that too). So after reading the other books I finally got my disappointments washed away. I really enjoyed Ilya and Joley's relationship and the way things progressed. The only thing is the story was a bit predictable since I kind of had a feeling how it was going to play out. All I can say is I can't wait to see how Jackson handles the idea of being a father to seven little magical girls.

First off Joleyt was so out of character, I mean this is supposed to be the wildest of the Drake's right? and well she was kinda boring for me. I thought that she was whiny and too undecisive, oh yeah and about that deep dark secret that she has about herself what the heck was that? Did we ever find out why she was pulling way from Ilya because of this secret, hell no! I think Feehan simply used this so Joley would be the typical heroine ya know the one where they constanly talk therselves out of having a relationship like all the time, very frustrating. Oh but that was not what really killed this book for me though but it sure was close. Alas do I dare even say it? Yeah I do, okay what I totally hated about this book was that Joley and Ilya's romance kinda took second stage for a gay love story between Nikitin and some gutair player in Joley's band! Suprised? well really as many authors that are putting this in their novels I am really not suprised at all. Anyway whenever I read that it just takes me out of the whole romantic feeling I get whenever I read a good romance instead I feel depressed, which is not what I want when I want to read a book by one of my fav authors er used to be fav author!

This is probably the worst book I have read by her which to be perfectly honest I hated two of her Dark series books one was Dark Challenge and the other I can't remember but the heroine was a real bitch. I did watch the book trailer though on her website and I just loved it! Really that is what made me want to buy this damn book in the first place, but I noticed that some things in the trailer did not even happen! Really the trialer was so much better that the actual book! It was really hard for me to find any chemistry between these two and I really did not think that the sex scenes ( what few there were) were anything special either.

I have been waiting & waiting with much impatience for Joley & Ilya's story ever since the first time they met (i think in Abby's story Oceans Of Fire), and it was well worth the wait. The author has delivered again & this book has more than lived up to my expectation in everyway...great plot, superb characters & fast paced action throughout the book kept me glued from first to last page. I disagree with the person that said this book is the weakest in the Drake series, to me it is actually the best. Feehan managed to show Joley's vulnerability but at the same time her strong unselfish character and personal convictions came through very defined & clear - she definitely had back bone & is very loyal. She stood up to Ilya & won't be handled by him which is great (what every modern woman should do) because Ilya would take a mile if given an inch :0) Ilya's very typical Feehan hero - strong, tormented, needing to be saved, unshakeable in his love & protection of Joley, he came through also as very sensitive & decisive. He knew almost immediately she's his for life & accepts this responsibilty even tho it made him very vulnerable which is an alien concept to him. I love these 2 characters to death and was so sad when the book came to the end - the ending was excellent by the way! This book showed Feehan's "Dark series" influence more so than the other Drake Sister books. The only slight detraction was that there was not a lot of involvement with all the sisters, especially with no appreance by Elle (not even telepathically) - who is the 7th sister, her story (Hidden Current) is the next & (perhaps) final book in this series. I can't wait for her & Jackson's story). I will always buy any books with Christine Feehan's name on it.

I really didn't know what to expect when I realized that Joley was going to be paired up with a suspected mobster, but Ilya was simply perfect for Joley! I laughed, I cried. . .I didn't want the story to ever end, but of course it did (it always does). This is offically one of my favorite books and one that I am going to re-read again and again. Anyone who loves paranormal fiction will love Turbulent Sea.

[I think it would be fantastic if after the Drake sisters books are finished if Ms. Feehan took up with Ilya's brothers. I would love that and am almost certain the fans of the Drake's sisters would as well!](just an idea):}

I could hardly wait for Joley and Ilya's story. I read the Drake Sisters novels first, then reluctantly read the Carpathian series. Honestly, this book felt like a merger of the two series, and it didn't work for me.

One of the strengths of the Drake Sisters series is the interaction between the sisters. Unfortunately, that was largely absent in this book.

I know that Joley falls in love with Ilya because Feehan tells us so. I didn't "see" it, though. The entire Joley/Ilya relationship felt forced, and there was little character development. What exactly were Joley's "dark needs"? I knew from the other books that Ilya is an Alpha Male, but he was too borderline Carpathian for it to work for me in a Drake Sister novel.

I wish there were "half stars" for book ratings...I'd honestly give "Turbulent Sea" a 3.5 star rating. This is the tale of Joley Drake...uber rock star/wildchild/magical sister in the Drake family. For some time, she's both avoided and sought out the presence of dangerous Russian Ilya Prakenskii...whose own powers seem to both rival as well as compliment Joley's. Is Ilya a good guy or a bad guy? Previous Drake sister novels have hinted to both...finally the question is resolved (too predictably, IMO). It's not a bad read...just nothing too exciting. The previous Drake sister tale - Hannah's story, "Safe Harbor", was a much more compelling story, which makes "Turbulent Sea" fall a little flat in comparison. Final word - Exciting suspense? Da. Exciting romance? Nyet.

After reading some of the reviews, I thought I would be disappointed. Nevertheless, I started to read the story and I have to say that I really enjoyed everything about Turbulent Sea. Here is my pros and cons list.

Pros
I love all of the Drake's stories and know they have a strong bond. However, for me I like that the focus was more on Joley's life as a star with all the highs and lows that comes with stardom. I also like that Joley had some of the same fears women get about losing themselves when attracted to what we considered dominating, controlling "Bad Boys". In addition, to me Ilya showed that even though he is dangerous and may have a lot of baggages, "Bad Boys" need love too, and that they too have a softer side even though they may not show it.
I especially enjoyed the twist about Nikitin and I absolutely love that Ilya is the male version of Elle (spoiler).

Cons
I guess I am a like Joley's, I could not find anything to put on the cons side.

I guess what I am trying to say is that to me this book did not leave me feeling disappointed. In fact, I cannot wait for Elle and Jackson story.

Perhaps because the setting was away from the Drake Sister's famous home and all the other sisters, but I found this one to be one of the best in the series. Finally, the reader gets to devil deeper into Ilya Prakenskii, the bodyguard, the killer, the mobster? Or is he? We just didn't know. Well, after reading this book, we now know all there is to know about Ilya, even the fact that he has a very sweet sense of humor.

I even liked reading about Joley and her band members. It was just so nice to get away from all the sisters. There are just too many of them and they are all too much alike in personality, it gets confusing. Separately, the novel flows much better.

OK, I have been so eager for this book I was counting down the seconds for a year to its release. On the one hand I loved it. The love scenes were smoking hot and exactly what I was hoping for for these two (hence the 4 stars). On the other hand--and this happened with Hannah in Safe Harbor as well--Joley's character development was somehow off. Suddenly the fun loving girl was not worthy and dark with her needs but it was a shallow portrayal of this emotion by Feehan. Furthermore, it never came to true satisfying resolution as it was never that well defined to start with. And Ilya who professed to not know anything about a relationship was the one that was having it fabulously! Something was very forced about Joley, even the first few pages sounded very cliche and incredibly cheesy until Ilya came into the book. So, while he was as hot as I hoped (the "mine" thing reminded me a bit of the Dark series), Joley was not at all as cool and interesting as she was in every other Drake book. Additionally, in other books the supporting sisters were more involved, in this one, and I was REALLY hoping for a great setup for Jackson and Elle, and I just didn't feel like I got it.

I really liked Joley and Ilya. She was very afraid of giving herself up to a man and losing herself in the process. He was so patient and loving with her, letting her know not to be afraid and he would always love her. I liked her protective side when her family went against them and felt sad for her when she thought no one in her family really knew her. I like this and you don't have to have read the previous book about her sisters, but I recomment you do because they are really good too.

I have never written a book review on the store before but this book compelled me to send one in. Be warned that there are some spoilers for the story in this post so if you want to be totally surprised skip this review.

I've been reading Christine Feehan for a long time and I keep wondering if her writing skills will improve at all. Apparently the answer is no. This book could have been half it's size and done the job it needed to do. How many times does the reader need to know Joley doesn't allow underage girls at her parties, or that the band "family" was destroyed by drugs and alcohol.. oh yeah and loose women? Apparently the answer is many, many times.

I've read every book that this author has written, and I can't honestly say if I'll buy another one. Not only were things repeated over and over and over, but the characters felt fake to me. All the members of the band, even Joley and Ilya themselves don't feel true to the characters we were introduced to in previous books. I mean Ilya goes from being raised in a severly abusive environment to all the sudden being able to love Joley with all his heart? That just doesn't ring true to life, and I know that this is a romance but hopefully some of real life is in a book.

One good thing that Feehan does do is handle the relationship between Brian and Nikitan very well. She doesn't preach about it being bad or good, she just simply shows love between two characters that happen to be male. Kudos to her for dealing with this with sensitivity and grace. It's the only reason this review got 2 stars instead of just one.

To all the Feehan fans out there, please go read some Sherrilyn Kenyon or J.R. Ward if you want good, well written paranormal romance. To Mrs. Feehan, please take a basic workshop in writing a fiction story, even though you are published you could be such an awesome writer if you just change a few things.

Rock and roll superstar Joley Drake loved the band she called her "boys" and relished singing, but hated touring where she saw first hand what the women, drugs and alcohol was doing to the boys. She could not partake because of her other talent as a magical Drake requires no poisoning of her body so she quit partying, but it is the stalkers that concern her now.

She attends a party for the first time in a long time when she learns a teenager she saw at the gala vanished. She begins to ask questions that concern her Russian bodyguard Ilya Prakenskii who believes that his client might be in danger. He offers to use his paranormal skills to keep her safe, but the price he demands may be too exorbitant for the rock star to pay; he wants her heart and soul and will accept nothing less.

The latest Drake sister "watery" romantic suspense thriller (see SAFE HARBOR and OCEANS OF FIRE) is a terrific entry that the audience has been waiting for as this relationship has been stirring for a while. The story line is action-packed with an unknown stalker starting to kill and Joley is the ultimate target. However, though the plot is thin, the tale remains gripping due to the turbulent relationship between the Drake sibling used to swimming in a sea of love and the enigmatic lone ranger Ilya used to going solo in an empty ocean of distrust.

I have been waiting for Joley and Ilya's story since he appeared in the storyline, and it's a satisfying enough story to sate my curiosity.

HOWEVER, this didn't feel like a Drake sister's novel, as the other sisters barely even appear in the book, except in phone conversations and small cameos. Their significant others appear more, and are more overbearing than normal. I kept waiting for a Drake power scene, where they kick butt as a group, but it focuses more on Ilya saving Joley than the power the sisters share. There is a great vibe with the band, and you can see the surrogate family that Joley has when she's on the road.

Ilya and Joley's love story is believable and satisfying, but there aren't enough explanations to complete it. (How did Ilya mark her?)

All in all, it's a hot, satisfying book, but doesn't fit as well in the series as I had hoped.

Every time I pick up a Feehan book I'm reminded of why I don't read books by her very often. She does great with internal dialogue, plot and characters but her style of conversation between characters have always been a bit awkward for me to read.

This is book six in a seven book series. I read it as a stand alone, and I have to say it wasn't hard to get a "feel" of the large and close family. Of course I wasn't familiar with all the previous characters and their stories but that's ok, Joley and Ilya's story stood well alone also.

Overall...a pretty good read. Would I recommend it to friends? Well, no.

Stories 1-4 (Sarah, Kate, Abby, and Libby) were magically fun and caring. The fifth (Hannah) was brutal but got better. I held the 6th (this one) until I got the 7th so I could enjoy the whole. Joley seemed very whiny and Ilya too uncaringly aggressive. I wasn't entertained; instead I felt tired and bruised. However, those feelings are NOTHING compared to how the 7th book left me: battered and angry. What a disappointing ending to a very charmingly begun series. I think I'll read the next few Feehan books via the library because she may be off my favored authors list

First, let me say that I LOVE Christine Feehan's books, most especially the Drake sisters. That said, I have to say that I was a bit disappointed with this book. I liked the interaction between Joley and Ilya, and between Joley and members of her band (Brian, Logan, Tish), however, I sorely missed Joley's family. The thing that I have always loved about the Drake books is the close, tight relationship between the sisters. And I just didn't feel it in this book. I've searched far and wide for books about "witches" and their families and the Drakes and Nora Robert's "Three Sister Island" have that something special for me. I was sadly disappointed that it was missing from Joley's story. I sincerely hope that we see a whole lot more of the magic and the family ties in Elle's story.

Joley is the wild child Drake sister and Ilya is the rough edged man who is determined to tame her. Unfortunately we see none of Joley's earlier spunk and character. The Joley in this story is bland and uninteresting as the doormat she acts like most of the time. Ilya seems hard and way too secretive. We learn next to nothing about him or his past.

In addition the plot is weak in my opinion and not well tied together. I just felt like this story lacked the spirit or the energy the earlier books in this series have.

I have to say that the first few books in this series were terrific, but they have gone down hill - first Hannah's story and now Joley's. I really hope that Elle's story will be better.

I found this story to be as fascinating as all of the others and just as exciting. I loved everything it had to offer and even what it did not. It missed that one star because I was hoping for Joley to user her powers more and for Ilya to let more be known about himself and his background. I do hope that in the other books that they can both be able to do this.

I was utterly disappointed in this book. After waiting a year for this book to come out because the chemistry between Joley & Ilya was incredible in Safe Harbor, I was waiting for a spectacular book that delved deeper into their connection, why they had a connection, why all 7 sisters have the same sort of powers in limited form, why they have powers, and why, if #7 has the most power, are there 6 others with power?

Instead, I got a lot of nonsense about a mobster trafficking young girls to the white slavery market...where did that come from? A lot of new characters I could care less about, almost no interaction with the other sister, and still no answers.

This book was a mess. The only redeeming quality were the love scenes.

However, I would love to see a book about the Prakenski brothers if someone else could write it. I'm only going to wait for the last one because I don't like unfinished business, but that will be the last Feehan book I read.

Christine Feehan has another winner on her hands. Joley and Ilya's story is amazing. Joley and Ilya tangle each other up in Turbulent Sea. Joley is strong, vulnerable and beautiful inside and out; she is also impatient, tempermental and passionate. Christine created a wonderful Joley that people can relate to. Ilya is strong, patient (where Joley is not) and very passionate. Seeing Ilya and Joley together is like watching the fireworks on July 4th. I fell in love with the story. Ilya and Joley struggle to make a go of their relationship. Joley's insecurities and her attempts to keep her distance from Ilya are fascinating. Turbulent Sea moves fairly fast with unanswered questions and some answers about the next book in the series, Elle's book Hidden Current.

I guess another area of Turbulent Sea that makes you wonder is about Ilya's brothers. Are they going to make an appearance in any of Christine's books for the future?! If they are anything like Ilya, I can't wait to get my hands on them. :)

Not trying to knock Ms Feehan (as I've never written a novel myself... glass houses and all that) but have you ever seen a B grade movie? You know the type, horrible script, horrible acting? After you've watched it you feel that you've wasted a complete hour and a half of your life? Well this is a B grade book. The emotions seemed fake, relationships between the character were expressed through horrible one liners... lines that no real person would ever actually use, the heroin was a complete bore, and the hero left a lot to be desired. I've read many of Ms Feehans other novels (it's been years so maybe they were absolutely horrible too but I never realized it...)and I was able to make my way through them, but I absolutely could not make myself finish this book, which, as an avid reader, is completely out of character for me.
So if you haven't read this book my advice is to spend your time and money somewhere worth your while. If you are interested in paranormal and paranormal romance I would suggests authors such as J.R. Ward, Rachel Vincent, Patricia Briggs, Laurell k. Hamilton, Kim Harrison, or Karen Chance. They are all excellent writers.

This book was a lot more erotic than the others. I'm not a fan of adultery and forgiving adulterers so I would have preferred it if the other characters love story could have been left
out but otherwise a really great book

I've been enjoying the series and was looking forward to this book. The plot took a hard turn from what was written about these characters in the previous books. Nikitin goes from being obsessed with Jolie to this just being a cover for his affair with a band member. Didn't ring true. The Reverend RJ goes from being a real threat to a plot line fill-in. The characters were pretty shallow and the writing was repetitive. Not as enjoyable as the other books in the series.

I liked the storyline of the book. But I have mixed feelings about the characters. Joley was too whiney at times and kept talking about her dark side, did she mean her fantasies? Don't most people have them? I like Ilya more in this book than the previous, but his domineering ways got tiresome. I also have to mention my complete frustation with the repeated phrases: her "womb clenched" and her "feminine sheath". Using them once or twice in a book is okay, not every other page.

I hope Elle's story is better.

This is the sixth story in the Drake Sisters series (one more to come) and it was not Ms. Feehan's best effort. Joley had all this angst about always picking losers and being a bad person with oblique references to perhaps being a bit BDSM but not actually saying it. Her relationship with the band was not believable to me as well. Ilya was much more interesting than Joley and her character was a bit of a disppointment. Hannah and Joley seem to be missing the Drake girl's backbone. That being said, I would buy it again in a minute to keep up to date with the Drake sisters.

For all of us die hard fans of Christine Feehan's Drake Sisters series, this is the story we have been waiting for. Joley and Ilya - the rock star and the mobster - finally have their own book. It more than lived up to my expectations and I finished it only wanting more, more, more. Joley is the wild child of the Drake sisters and Ilya was as dark, mysterious, and sexy as he appeared to be in previous books. I loved the author's strong use of magic and music to tell their story. I only wish we could have heard even more of Ilya's background. I am very curious about those six other brothers! I am not sure how I would have felt if this was the first Drake Sisters book I had read. I would definitely recommend starting with Oceans of Fire and working up to this one to avoid confusion.

I used to absolutely LOVE Christine Feehan's writing but lately... well it's left me feeling flat. All of her characters are tiny, beautiful women bordering on perfecton who always get the rich and or nice guy. Unbeleiveable. Not to mention the fact that us 'normal' women who are 10 to 30 pounds over weight and are close to 6 feet tall ourselves have a hard time indentifying with a heroine like that.

I don't mind a perfect heroine now again but to always have your heroines described the same way with narrow rib cages, narrow hips and most of them being under 5'5" tall...it's getting repititious. Especially when these same women are 'mating' with men well over 6 feet tall. Picture them having sex. Heck, the man would have to bend over in bed to kiss the woman while making love. How sexy is that?

This book is pretty much the same as the others as far as characters go. I had a hard time liking Joley. Nearly perfect as most of Ms. Feehan's characters are, she's a bit spoiled and frankly, appeared just a little TSTL to me. She knows she's getting threatening letters yet goes out unescorted to jog. She may as well have been screaming "kill me I'm right here!"

And I'm not even going to mention the numerous daytime tv like sub plots that make you wonder if you're really reading a script for a soap opera.

The only reason I'm scoring it a 3 instead of lower is there is a lot of great romance once you get past the annoying 'feel sorry for mes' and 'will people still like me if they find out I like dominant men?' character flaws Joley has. Seriously, who would know you're into that unless you tell them, for pete's sake?

I hate to say it because Ms. Feehan has been one of my favorite authors for over ten years but I'm getting to the point where I'm not going to purchase her books anymore because they're pretty much all the same. The characters and descriptive lines have become too repitious for me.

If you're reading for great sex, then that is one of this book's redeeming qualities, that and the romance Ms. Feehan is famous for.

First let me start by saying that I greatly enjoyed this book. I did't like the wait for the kindle vesion but that is something to talk about at a later time.
I thought this was a great book, the character dynamics were exciting and vibrant, but I never saw Joley fall in love -- it seemed like she just was. I would have like for C. Feehan to have let us into Joley's mind when that was happening. Or into Ilya's mind when he was falling in love for that matter. But overall the book was great

Although I didn't care much for Joely's character (too whiny with poor decision-making abilities for me), I really liked Ilya's character. He seemed to behave like a real man (except for the magic, of course) and I found him the most enjoyable male character Christine Feehan has written to date.

I've enjoyed all the sisters' stories, however Hannah's and Joley's have been the best. Read them both twice immediately. Ilya actually shared more with Joley than I ever though he would. Very intriguing and leaving lots to the imagination. I like that. Not every detail has to be explained. I think the trust issues Joley dealt with were the lure to trusting Ilya. I highly recommend this series.

Very disappointing book, such a build up for this story in all the other books and it just did not deliver. I thought it needed more interaction with the rest of the family characters and less with the secondary plot around the band members. Let's hope the next book delivers a better story line.

This is the sixth in the Drake Sister's series. As with many of the other books in this series, there was a ton of great action and lots of interesting "magic", but also lots of over the top sex. The characters were enjoyable but not very well developed and the bad guys were very stereotypical Feehan. It was a fun quick read and I'm sure I'll finish out the series with the seventh book when it's published.

I LOVED the way this book was played out. The music, the emotion and the love. They are both "turbulent" people and the book needed to showcase that, which it does well.
I agree with the others who say the sisters arent in this book till the end and that is disappointing, when in the other books, they were in the story line often. Usually you get interaction with the characters in the next book coming out about the Drake sisters but Elle was only mentioned and wasnt "in" the book at all.
Other than that it was an amazing story of what we all were expeting from Joley & Ilya

Turbulent Sea was a great book!! Definitely one of the best Drake Sisters novels that Feehan has written. I love Joley's character and Ilya is hot!! I do wish there would have been a more in depth explanation about Ilya's background, but all in all, the book was great!

Let me tell you about author that is versatile in the paranormal venue. MS Feehan is a master! As Nora Roberts is the queen of romance writing. MS Feehan is the ( I feel ) undisputed queen of paranormal. You did Ellie good.

For those who have read the last 5 books in the series, this picks right up where the last left off. It brings Joley and Ilya together against the background of Joley finishing her latest tour and has all the twists and turns of Alexandr's courting of Abby.

I have not read this book yet. I have not read any of Ms Feehan's books. This book is one I bought at a library sale because I thought it looked interesting. I did not realize at that time it was a series so I am debating on whether I can read this alone or do I have to read the ones that came before. Also, the reviews are very interesting. It seems that people who love this book love it for many of the same reasons that others dislike it. It is hard to judge. I don't normally let reviews sway whether I read a book or not but this being my first Feehan book, I thought I would read what others said. So, can I read this book alone or do I have to read the others first?

As a Chritine Feehan fan, I guess I am a little biased. Loved the book, loved all the characters and the story was great. Whilst I tend to love the Dark Series the best, the story of the seven sisters and their partners is a enjoyable read, the men are always "hot" and so is the romance. Keep them coming.

I could not wait for this book to come out as it turns out I could have waited forever. This book did not even seen like it belonged in the series. If you don't read this one you really won't miss any thing. I really have nothing good to say about this book. The only reson to keep it is you have the whole series.

This is a wonderful story that shows we must all depend on ourselves and others, and our own instincts, to get through life. Really gets a person to look beneath the surfaces and find what we really want. Great reading.

i have read many books which are full of gratuitous sex but this one is so over the top that there no words to describe the continual references to the absolute preoccupation with the subject by the main characters. ok , i got the message and i ended up totally bored with the same repetitive message of sexual desire. Enough already. Never again.
