Received book in a timely manner and in very good condition. If I would have done more research and realized the size of the book and original cost I probably wouldn't have paid the price, but that's my bad.

Having been a fan of Christine Feehan for a while, I was sorely disappointed with this book. The main characters did not have chemistry, in my opinion . The story did not allow enough time for them to build up a believable attachment.

I love Christine Feehan, however, why is the book almost $100.00 used?! That is ridiculous!
Dont be fooled into ordering this book, go to a used bookstore and buy it for about 99 cents. It is a quick read but not worth that!

Boy, this one was not worth the $2 I spent on it. Contrived. Poor development. Characters I couldn't care about. Too much of a fluff romance for my tastes. Perhaps written for a mature teen, not a mature woman.

I'm reading the Drake series again for the second time and continue to have a great appreciation for Christian Feehan and her writing. In the light of all the other stories, this really reads like a novella plus. I'll explain, you get a good introduction to the powers the sisters harness and their strong connection to the elements and each other. That's the novella part plus is that you see the potential of the stores to come six more romances involving the other sisters. There is the hunky Sheriff who is so supportive and protective of the sisters but also kind of like the annoying brother. There's also the community around them. We get to see how they gather around to protect one another and a consequence is that they also can't seem to mind their own business. All of this is a plus and gets the reader excited to take this journey with the Drakes.

Summary: The Drake family is a witch family full of secrets and power. Their town of Sea Haven protects them and love's them for all that they do. When the oldest of the seven sisters comes home it is all the town can talk about. Damon Wilder came to Sea Haven for a refuge to rest his weary body and mind, but all he can hear whispered is "Sarah's coming home". Damon is curious and goes to Sarah to find out more about her. However, when Damon came to Sea Haven he didn't come alone, so Sarah must use her powers to help save him.
Review: I'm not gonna lie Damon Wilder is 100% my kind of man! A smart, stubborn hot guy who knows exactly what he wants. I love that he is literally so preoccupied with the paint from the family house that he misses other things. It's hilarious! I think this book was a great start to an amazing series. It was a great introduction to the Drake sisters and their powers. Christine Feehan has a great writing style that intrigues you and sucks you in until the book is over! I did give this 4.5 stars out of 5 just because I know she could have made it even more amazing then it already is!

3. 75 magical stars! An enjoyable way to pass the time. Delightful! ( but fairly bland )
My first book by Feehan. It's the first book in the Drake Sisters series. I understand from some reviewers that it is not as suspenseful as some of her books, but that may be because it was short, only 100 pages.
Not knowing this author, and sometimes yucked out when I try a new author, I appreciated the fact that there was no hardcore language, no religious profanity, and no grossly graphic sex. The love scenes seemed just right. Steamy but romantic.
A sweet little story, introducing the seven closely-knit Drake sisters, witches all, who live and work all over the world in various occupations and locations, but return occasionally to their magical house overlooking the sea.
The setting is a charming little town called Sea Haven, in Northern California. Given that I live in Northern California, I can easily imagine steep, dangerous cliffs, salty sea spray, winding roads, pricey boutiques, scrumptious restaurants, white-washed clapboard homes (no bricks, please, it's earthquake country), wind and fog and the ever-present call of the seagulls.
This was, at heart, a sweet and tender love story, magic and mayhem notwithstanding. Sarah has a huge heart and a nicely padded body--no glamour girl, and Damon is a worn down wreck with broken hip, in his early 40's. They find a place in each other's heart.
***Some spoilers below****
In this story, the eldest sister, Sarah, a security expert, comes home and falls instantly in love with her new neighbor, Damon, a lonely scientist looking for a place to escape from his tormented past. The feeling is reciprocated instantly. No tension there, but sweet.
It starts like this: "Sarah is coming! Sarah is coming home!" sings the wind, echoed by the townspeople with gladness. Damon hears it, and is instantly filled with some strange eager anticipation.
So he goes to her house, just cuz he is so drawn to meet this mysterious Sarah. Flowers bloom, grass greens, house gleams, all because Sarah is finally home. Very...well....sweet.
But evil lurks in the heart of man (3 men, actually)
No true tension or suspense, even during the dangerous scenes, when kidnappers and killers are on the prowl. It was a little tense, seeing the black shroud of Death hovering around Damon, but...I knew he wouldn't die. See, this is a romance novel. And even if he did die, he would be okay, cuz see, Sarah is a super magical creature, and she loves him so.
(I think it must be really hard to create suspense in a romance novel, and especially when the good guys are blessed with superpowers galore.) ;-)
The part I liked best was seeing Damon---an aloof scientist who has no family at all --- grow enchanted by his new soon-to-become sisters, and especially by his big hearted Sarah. It was sweet to see him come out of the cold.
Happy to state that in this book, Sarah is not glamourous, and not twiggy thin. Hoorah for that!
I also liked Sarah's real love for the townspeople, and vice versa. It was, um, sweet. Truly.
Adding a little tart, I enjoyed the hostility between Hannah and Jonas. There's gotta be a love story there.
I will proceed to book 2 in the Drake Sisters Series, The Twilight Before Christmas

Brilliant! Seven sisters all with incredible gifts. Sarah is home at last and even the wind welcomes her back. Her protective instincts are aroused by a man in need. Will she be able to keep him safe? Will they find out who is after him? A wonderfully written novel that draws you in from the start with terrific characters and a great plot. I have this in hardback as well and have read it many times.

I read "Oceans of Fire" first and loved it and so I bought this to read about the oldest of the seven Drake sisters. Damon Wilder has come to Sea Haven to rest and recuperate and...hide. He is a government scientist involved in developing classified defense systems. He has lived in Sea Haven for a month when the wind and townspeople begin to whisper "Sarah's back. Sarah's home" and he wonders exactly who she is.
Sarah Drake is a security expert hired to protect Damon unbeknownst to him. He is curious about her and walks/limps from his house across the way from Drake house to satisfy his curiousity in more ways than one. He is surprised to find the gate open as it was closed before Sarah came home. He walks up to the house and see the large dogs that let him pass and hears Sarah promising to look in on a teenage boy that is dying even though he wonders what she could do. Sarah is surprised to see him especially when he tells her the gate was open. The prophecy for the seven sisters says the gate will open for the one meant for the oldest. Sarah also sees Death surrounding Damon and fears for him.
Sarah's sisters Hannah, Abigail and Kate also come home and while Sarah is out approaching Damon's home to protect him, they help her with magic as there are 3 men trying to kidnap him.
As the story progresses with the inevitable romance between Damon and Sarah, I felt alot of time was spent on Jonas and Hanna when we really needed to more about what it is that Sarah has been doing as a security expert as that seemed to be left rather vague. I would love to see this story rewritten and expanded upon, but it was still an enjoyable read.

This is the short story that kicks off Christine Feehan's Drake Sisters series. It's called "Magic in the Wind" and it centers on the oldest Drake sister, Sarah.
The entire premise of the series is that there are 7 sisters, each with a different magical gift. A prophecy says that one day, the gate to their home will open for the man meant to fall in love with the oldest sister. Then, from the oldest, ending with the youngest, each sister would find her true love. Then the youngest sister will again begin the prophecy by taking over the family home and having 7 daughters of her own.
Enter Damon Wilder. He moved to Sea Haven to escape some bad guys trying to kill him... just as the mysterious Sarah moves back home. He hears so much town gossip about her that he goes to investigate and (shockingly) the gate opens for him, beginning the prophecy.
I like Sarah. She is strong and tough and not the 21 year-old ingenue we see in so many romance novels. She helps Damon fight for survival and finds the love of her life in the process.
I would have liked to have the set-up of the series more fleshed out, but it's a short story and an ok one, so I'll give it 3 1/2 stars.

I didn't find anything special in this book. It was a fairly standard paranormal romance. The biggest twist was that our female lead was the magic user who found her fated mate instead of the male lead. The chemistry between them didn't feel natural to me. The story was boring. The sisters didn't catch my interest. I won't be reading the rest of the series.

Damon Wilder seemed to hear it in the wind `Sarah's come home'. Damon was a man who sought anonymity and refuge in the small seaside town of Sea Haven, he was annoyed to say the least of the whispers, as well as the very wind seemingly telling him - `Sarah's come home...' - Who was this paragon? Who was this god-like woman that the town seemed so in awe of. Even Sarah's house - Drake house - the house that sat on a clifftop opposite his, was intriguing and something of a mystery. He could go and investigate why the paint seemed so pristine and well-preserved for a house on the edge of the sea - after all, he was a scientist wasn't he, and if they were using a special paint preservative - it would be neighborly to share the secret.
Though Sarah had come home to Drake house, it wasn't that alone that drew her. She had her own agenda, and secrets. Damon had not arrived in the sleepy coastal town alone. Dangerous men had tracked him down and Sarah, a security expert (among other things) was there to protect him - whether he wanted her protection or not. When these two finally met, what would be revealed was a prophecy come true, as both Damon and Sarah discovered a desire and a passion more burning than either had ever experienced before. As with all things, happily ever after could only come true if Sarah, with the help of her sisters, could keep the aura of death that surrounded Damon from claiming him for his latest victim.
*** Okay, I confess that I have been lax in finally getting around to see what all the hubbub has been about this author, but finally - I see! Boy, do I ever! What I find even more incredible is that this author has made a fan of me with a little over 100 pages that blended in action, suspense and an almost erotic sensual feeling to a romance I found totally satisfying and didn't want to end. Luckily, this is a reprint of a story from an anthology previously published as LOVER BEWARE, but more importantly, as the first in a series, I will now be on the lookout for the rest of the books that will be published in what looks to be an amazing Drake Sisters series. Captivating, original, and totally satisfying - I personally can't wait for the rest of the adventures sure to come regarding the magical sisters in this remarkable Drake family series.

Magic in the Wind is a light, both in tone and word-count, romance that begins the Drake Sisters series. Originally a short story, Magic in the Wind has been expanded into a novella slightly over one hundred pages.
As the first story in the Drake Sisters series, Magic in the Wind follows oldest sister Sarah's love story. This romance isn't perfect and probably needed more build up than the book allows. Magic is used to explain away the missing and much needed tension between Sarah and Damon.
I would have loved if it had been more in depth, but Magic in the Wind is a great introduction to the series. There's a powerful feeling of true love mixed with magic. We meet some of the sisters and see some of the powers without being overwhelmed by the whole backstory and cast of characters in the series. Not necessarily a must read for those who'd like to read later books in the series, but definitely short, easy and enjoyable.

I read this in almost one sitting, its very short and not very hard to read. I enjoyed it for what it is, and clearly would understand parts of it more if I read the whole series. I don't know if I liked it enough to bother hunting the rest of the series down, but I won't argue if they come my way.
Sarah is a little too mysterious at times, I think, it seems to clash with her 'can do' security expert personality. I liked the hero, Damon, though, he was an enjoyably gruff character who illustrated his own flaws and is a sort of different hero for these sorts of books.
It was nice to see so many wonderful supporting characters squeezed into such a little book, Feehan did a great job in sketching out these characters with a few sentences.
I'd reccomend this book to someone looking for a quick, enjoyable, slightly dreamy read, with the possibility for similiar reads in the series, down the road.

The first few chapters of MItW started off well enough, the author captured the coastal town atmosphere perfectly, however, after that it got a little, okay at times a lot, cheesy and eye-roll-inducing. Romances don't have to be that sticky-sweet. What was different and interesting is that the narration was mainly told through the male lead instead of the female; there's not too much of that in romances. The only downfall to the story being told this way was Damon waxing poetic about Sarah the Mysterious, Sarah the Magical, Sarah the Magnificent, Sarah, She Who Walks on Water - seriously, what a Mary-Sue. I'm surprised people didn't address her as Saint Sarah. Everyone in town follows her "advice" (basically she tells them what to do in a roundabout way and they listen), seeks her out to magically fix all their problems, act like she's a goddess, combined, this all made it ten times worse. They just follow her like brainless zombies and never get upset at her poking her nose in their business (not that they all don't do the same in everybody else's). Even though all of that was nauseating, she wasn't the worst Mary-Sue I've run across (Why o' why are there so many of them? Is there a writer's manual on how to write a paragon so that everything they touch, everywhere they go, everyone they meet, they're held up as a supreme being? I wish I was perfect too. :P) and she had magic, so that's cool. Although, who is Sarah besides the saint of this small coastal town? I have no clue, she was never made real, I actually envisioned a golden aura around her like she's some sort of angelic being or something, which is at total odds with her tough defender super hero side. Some girls have all the luck. She has magic, she's as kind as can be, she's perfect in every way (except she's not conventionally beautiful or something, the description was kind of unclear), so of course everyone loves her, she's peaceful and she gets to kick a** like she's Buffy? No freaking way. Where can I sign up?
Another annoyance was "painfully shy" Hannah, one of Sarah's six sisters. Hannah is apparently a model who travels the world, is on magazines, goes on talk shows, etc., even though she is painfully shy. Hey, I can believe someone famous has trouble like that, my problem comes from her "condition" being described as "painfully shy" all the time. It is mentioned in that exact same way, it's never really shy, very shy, extremely shy, or even just plain old shy, no it has to be "painfully shy." In truth, it was only said three times (that I noticed), but in a story that is only around ninety pages, it really sticks out, especially since it was awkwardly brought into the plot. I have a hard time believing this is only shyness, try social phobia or at the very least, some anxiety disorder. Why hasn't she had psychological care? The only remedies mentioned are magical spells and whatnot. While I'm on the subject of Hannah, of whom I know more about personality-wise than Sarah, I might as well mention the jeering and taunting between Jona, the town sheriff, and herself. These interactions are so over-the-top and obvious; we all know where this is going to lead in a future book. And not one of the sisters or Damon notices what is right in front of them. How can they be so imperceptive? What are they, seven? Although I have to admit I'd hate to be called "Baby" or "Barbie" doll too, but then again, I don't look like a Victoria's Secret model, Hannah does.
As for the plot, it was barely there, more time was spent on introducing the sisters, their legacy, characters that went nowhere, and having Sarah sit on a pedestal. Damon would have been more interesting if this had been made into a full-length book - I like the idea of a scientist being confronted with magic - but there just wasn't enough there for a cohesive story. I usually don't write much about short stories but had a lot to say about this one. Obviously. I'm interested in the sisters' stories, I try not to judge authors solely based on a short story, so I will check them out, especially Hannah's. As someone who's been "painfully shy" (couldn't resist) her whole life, my interest has been piqued to see how the author develops Hannah and her shyness in that installment of the series.
I was thinking of giving this an average rating but after writing my review and thinking back on the story, it's just not that good.
2/5 stars

I have read most of the books by this author. I have the other two in this series too that I am making my way twords. Normally, there is nothing like a book by this author. No matter what series i have read they were all powerful and magical in their own way. I knew it was a story pulled from an anthology when I bought it, so I knew it would be a short story. That didnt matter. No, what mattered that as a short story and the first book to a series, the book bombed. There was not enough content to keep the story going. Any place that details could have been expanded were passed up. I read on the cover that it is suppose to be rewritten and added to, i havent read the first version, but I can only imagine that it would be worse. This version was bad, and there is one out there with less information?? How did this get published? Espically as the first book to a series. There were not alot of details about the other sisters. Or any ideas as to how the series would go. There was not anywhere enough information in this book for it to be a first book. I hope the second book is a little more informative. And Drew. What ever happend to Drew?? That was kinds skipped, for that matter, what was wrong with Drew?? We never even got to hear that. There is alot you wont hear from this book. Being that it is the first book of a series, I would recommend to read it. Dont buy it though. It is not all that good. I also agree with another reviewer that the font is not right. My eyes are good for the most part and the letters are small. Real small with no spacing between sentences. Get it from the library and dont expect much.

Okay this book is really just a short story it just has about a hundred pages or so. Basis of story is Damon Wilder has come to Sea Haven and everyone is talking about Sarah Drake has come home. Sarah is a secuirty expert and Damon is some kind of lab guy well the bad guys are after him and Sarah and her sisters fight back. We are introduced to all the characters for upcoming books. This was basically getting to know the charcters for the Drake Sisters series. I loved Hannah and Jonas you just know they are getting together. Four stars because romance between main characters was pretty tame for me but like I said was not a whole book so that might have something to do about it. I would suggest getting it because the other books in this series are really good and this is a good starter book.

You are rooting for Sarah and Damon to work through the danger that surrounds them as they work through the series of dangers that stalk them. You learn that how the house reacts to the men that come into it will affect all the women in one way or another. The action keeps going and the romance is hot.

After reading such strong reviews and the excerpt, I took a chance and ordered this book and was disappointed.
The story definitely had promise. A family of seven sisters who each have a paranormal talent who are also very close to one another despite leading lives that take them all over the world.
The story centers around the eldest sister who is also a security expert who is hired to protect a scientist with MENSA caliber brains. He quit government work after his assistant killed and he attacked by a terrorist or unsavory organization trying to get information on his top secret work and ideas.
The chemistry between him and her is scorching but happens almost instantly and it seems rushed. There is none of the longing or uncertainty when you first meet someone you are attracted too, it was to... pat and easy.
I think that there were some redeeming parts of the story and I would give it 2.5 stars. I am reluctant to try any others as they might be as light and formulaic as this one.

Kind of an abrupt ending but not a cliffhanger. Definitely gets the characters built and the community setting established for the series to follow. Good read. Well worth the money. I would recommend this book and the series.

It is a very short and easy to read book that does start a series. I have read the first three books of the "Drake sisters series", which according to the author have a book for each of the seven sisters. I enjoyed this one the most because the plot was always fresh. The other books revisit some plots that start getting slightly predictable. but I plan on finishing up the series because they are easy to read, overall excellent stories, and all the main characters are likeable. I thought this book was good as a complete story, but it did leave me interested in the rest of the characters lives.

I love the Drake series. I started with Libby and decided to see what started the series, so bought Abigail and Sarah...I was so dissapointed in this book. It is so short and completely undeveloped. After reading Libby and Abigails stories which were amazing and well thoughtout with well developed characters, this one was a huge dissappointment. Maybe the problem was that I was going backwards and the series was not really thought out until Abigails book. I would skip this book and go straight to Abigails book (Oceans of Fire) instead. Really...you are not missing anything.

I was not impressed with any of the Drake Sisters series. There was nothing there to keep me wanting to know more about the sisters. It didn't hold my attention. The "magic" was not enough to hold my attention.
Another thing that bothered me is that everyone just took for granted that the sisters had their "magical" powers. They didn't try to hide it and it didn't bother anyone. No one questioned them. Maybe secrecy would have made the series more interesting.
I was definitely not impressed. I'm hoping the Dark Series will be better, but from what I know about them, they seem like a ripoff of the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I guess I'll have to see.

I was never one to get into the supernatural type romance novels. However, Christine Feehan does it so well that I just can't put her books down. After reading Magic in the Wind, I began looking for other books that she's published. I discovered the Ghostwalker series and now I am double hooked. I haven't gotten the nerve to read any of the other series that she's worked on, but the Ghostwalker and Sea Haven series are AWESOME!!!

I found this book to be a fun, fast read. If you are interested in books about people with psychic and paranormal abilities, then you will love this story. It is a story of a group of seven sisters who all have these abilities that they have learned to use to help others and to make them successful in their chosen careers. It shows a group of loving, happy, and independent women and, for the most part, very strong self-confident women. It is delightful and makes me want to read more about them.
I had never read anything by this author before, nor had I read any books from the paranormal romance genre; therefore, these short story books that are now popular give me a sample of authors that I am unfamiliar with and introduce me to unfamilar work. This kind of short story is good for the evenings when I want a fast read too. This story fascinated me and made me want to read all of the Drake Sister books, especially Hannah's story. Yes, I agree with other reviewers that the first book in a series would be better as a full length book that introduces all of the sisters, their family background and their individual powers and careers and maybe the author will expand on this story at a future date-- I certainly hope so! The bottom line however, is that this book made me want to read the rest of the series and it introduced me to a new favorite author. I believe that is the purpose of these short stories and I gave it 4 stars because, for me, it was successful and I now plan on buying the next 2 books in the series.

This is the first book I've read by Feehan, and I enjoyed it for the most part. I absolutely loved the Drake sisters and cannot wait to read the rest in the series. I did also love the romance that was in the book. My one complaint about this book was that it was way too short, and I felt the story jumped to quickly from point 'A' to point 'B'. Other than that, it was great, and I can't wait to read more of the Drake sisters, and more of Feehan's work."

This short story introduces the Drake sisters and is the oldest sister, Sarah's story. Her prophecy, being the eldest, is that the padlocked gates surrounding their home will open for her destined love. Of course, we see him walk through it and he changes her life and that of her sisters.
I'm intrigued by the talents and magic of these sisters and am looking forward to the series.

I've enjoyed the first 5 stories about the Drake sisters, Sarah, Kate, Abby, Libby, and Hannah. Magic in the Wind is about the oldest sister Sarah and her love interest Damon Wilder. I must say, though, it wasn't enough. On one hand, as the lead into a series, I would have wanted more in the overall background for the sisters before moving into Sarah's story. And, because Sarah is such a exciting person in and of herself, I would have liked to have had more information on her professional life and how she used her abilities in her work. A more detailed Damon story would have been good --- the brief references to his past was not satisfying to the overall storyline.
Of course, on the other hand, a novella like 'Magic in the Wind' would leave some readers eager for more . . . such as 'The Twilight before Christmas' which is Kate and Matt Granite's story.
I love Christine Feehan's books, and eagerly look forward to Joley and Elle's stories. I expect these to be fabulous --- and totally satisfying!

I had just finished a book that was really pretty boring and having never read anything by Christine Feehan wasn't too optimistic. From the beginning i was into the story and will be reading the rest of the series.
All of the main characters were likeable and I am looking forward to reading more about these sisters.

I'm glad i got this book the way I did. It was an entertianing read but nothing I would have wanted to pay for. It was short and very fast. I'm not sure if I like her writing style yet. I'm reading another one of her series and its kind of the same style. Rushing into the plot with out getting into the backstory. Plus something I had no idea what was going on. which is not a good thing.

Like all of Christine Feehan's books this story is formulaic, with unrealistic eroticism. Fabulous mixture of real world and "other" world magic. Great interaction of the characters, especially within the Drake sisterhood. A good read to pass time.

If you have not read Christine Feehan's works before, she is a prolific novelist who does a successful job of mixing the two genres of romance and science fiction.
This book is the first in the series about the seven magical Drake sisters. Feehan usually does an excellent job of character development, creating a plot that has many interesting twists and turns, and stories which include sizzling sex scenes (these scenes may be too racy for some). This book, however, left me with a feeling of being slightly disappointed. Magic Wind was only 101 pages long. I have read other novels in this series and I was disappointed that Sarah, the heroine of Magic Wind, did not get a full, well developed story as did the other characters in this series.

I have read just about all of Christine Feehan's books...the Drake Sisters series is excellent as is the Dark series. This is my least favorite book out of both series. It just wasn't as compelling, suspenseful, or romantic as her other books. However, for the price, (since it is a much smaller book, page wise) it is worth the read.

I am a big fan of Ms Feehan, and I hate to give this short story a low grade, but.... To start at the beginning, The front cover sould use a bit of sprucing up. Looking at the book cover would not have drawn me to it if I had seen in at a store rather than on the store.
The book itself, well I feel as tho I spent 2.99 to buy what amounts to a glorified outline or first try at a story that has no mystery or advnture to it, especially to those of us who have enjoyed previous antics of the 'sisters'. Since I enjoy the author's works, I have to assume tht either her editor or publisher planned this piece of a story. We know from the beginning how the story will end. We do not see much action from the sisters. it is interesting how a whole section is left out;that being the obvious healing of the young man by one of the sisters conviently out of town. I suppose she will make it home in time to heal the patient when her turn comes to have a book.
There are so many openings for adventure and magic that are left untouched. The book is missing 200+ pages of fun and fear.sex and sarcasm. Will Ms Feehan rewrite and flesh out these characters? I certainly hope so. When will shy Hannah and the bossy sherrif finally realize they are a match?.
Yes I will continue to buy and enjoy her books, but this in actuallty belongs in an anthology, not out on its own. Please, no more of this very dissaappointing style of publication, and I do not blame the author for this.
One last note; the font style and spacing are too small. Try thinking about all of us with less than perfect vision nest time.

I have to say that I love this author. I own every book she has written. That said I was really disappointed that the story line for this the oldest Drake sister was so short and not as full as the others were. that is the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5.

However, it pulled me in enough I have ordered the next 5 in the series. I'm always looking for different authors I feel "comfortable" with. Too many times I lose interest and put it down. I'm happy the store recommended this author to me. I'm looking forward to reading her other series, as well.

I just enjoy the writings of Christine Feehan. Especially the DRAKE SISTERS series, the romance and the magic in the series comes together, and keeps you looking forward to the next chapter and even the next book. Now I haven`t. Been able to read all of them in written order but still the enjoyment is there.

I was looking for an elemental witch series and this was a great start. I enjoyed the character building and how Christine Feehan gave you just enough information about all of the sisters to wet your appetite and make you feel the need to go out and grab the second book. I will definitely spending my spare time with Christine and all of the Drake Sisters!

I am not as happy with this series of books by Christine Feehan as I am with her "Dark" series featuring the Carpathian males. But I do enjoy this series about hyped-up by the military men who go out to find their preprogrammed mates who are hyped-up through private institution experiments. I own and have read all of these, so they are worth the money.

This is my first book by Christine Feehan and I was pleasantly surprised. I love books dealing with sisters and found this to be a promising start. My only complaint was since it was such a short story the ideas behind the Drake family (the gate, the prophecy, etc) couldn't be fleshed out, and the romance between the two characters seemed rushed and superficial. Hopefully the rest of the books show the interaction between the leading characters as evolving into a relationship rather than just constantly telling us how they love each other after so little time.

I had read two of the Drake Sisters books and wanted to read the first one. I was disappointed with the size of the book at first, because it was very thin.
But with Feehan's usual flair, she made the book come alive with her descriptions of people, places and things. What could be just reading becomes alive in the mind and when the last page is finished, there is a certain loneliness where the characters dwelt during the reading.
I strongly recommend Christine Feehans books to men and women alike.

This was a very nice novelette for anyone that is interested in the combination of magic and romance. The story eludes to ancient magical family lines but the setting is in the present day. There is intrigue as well as romance. I enjoyed it and have passed it along to other readers. The book is the first in a series about sisters. It makes you want to read each book in succession to what powers each sister possess and how they use them.
