This book is entertaining and nostalgic for me, bringing back memories of my military service. Clearly the author has a great deal of first hand knowledge of the Marine Corps. The book is not written on an advanced reading level so it can be enjoyed by people who don't read a lot and/or don't want to spend time researching vocabulary (this is not a knock on the book). As such, it won't challenge many readers intellectually. Character development is well done. And the plot is interesting and engaging.

Whimsical military fantasy about ex military vigilantes operating in the US. This belongs in the comics like Captain America. The bad guys are evil and the good guys are pure but misunderstood. The normal realities that constrain fantasy to fiction like law, money and the basic sciences are absent. Read elsewhere!

I chose this rating because the book kept you totally wanting to read the next chapter. The dialogue format was very different and interesting. I would recommend this book to all interested in a book that keeps you turning the pages.

New addition to my favorite authors. I had never heard of these books before, but am glad that I found them. Well worth the read, action-filled plot, interesting characters. looking forward to more from C.G. Cooper. Well Done!

This is not a novel! Or if it is, it is truly bizarrely formatted. It appears to be a screen play that has a lot of description, but the dialogue is formatted the same way you'd see it in a screen play, with a block of text. Like this:

"Clem: I said you shouldn't go in the kitchen!
Dora: Well, if you weren't hiding nothing, it wouldn't be no problem!

Dora scanned the kitchen, looking past Clem....."

No. NO. NO! If I wanted to read a screenplay, I wouldn't be buying a novel. In fact, who wants to read screen plays? They are meant to be interpreted and WATCHED.

I honestly tried very gamely to push on, but the way this was formatted and written was so awful I got lost and kept having to go back and forth in the narrative to figure out what was going on.

C.G. Cooper weaves a great story of how Cal comes back into SSI. CAL and Jess are ambushed in an alley by a street gang initiation. Jess is killed, but CAL takes out most of the gang in the alley, except for two. The gangs (NON) leader, Dante wants CAL dead. The story is intriguing and gripping. I could not put it down. Cooper introduces the characters and fleshed them out to build up for Corp Justice series.

This is an amazing book you have to read it! It's a little hard to read at some points on account of some grammar issues and what seems like words missing all together but it's a good book. Time for book two

The story was a good read, but the book needed better proofreading. Also, the use of character dialogue was often misleading and annoying. Looking forward to reading another of Mr. Coppers books to compare...

I found this book to be very interesting and suspenseful . I couldn't put it down. The subject was interesting to me but when I read the other books written by the author, I found them to be lacking the format which decidedly kept my interest from flagging. This particular book is well worth yopur time to read. It keeps your interest in spades.

Thanks for a great read...it reminded me of my time in the Military. Where you felt and believed that you were a part of something bigger than yourself, as as the author quotes so eloquently...part of a family..a brotherhood.
Thanks again for a great story...it makes me wonder if somewhere in the world,or in another time something like this could happen...it would be great to feel that way again.
Anyway...thanks for the trip down memory lane

I ran through all the Friends From Damascus, got a few poorer adventures, and was looking for some action adventure when I ran across this. I liked everything about it, well done, good character development, surprising twists and turns, a good read. Looking forward to reading all of them. Thanks Cooper, I like the format, keep them coming.

Back to War is a straight up revenge story. Parts of the book read like a Marines wish list fantasy and the dialogue come across like a transcript. In short, the writing is a bit of a mess...but....somehow the mess generally works. There is a good story here and if you view the dialogue as a style rather than a problem it works better.

My fellow Marines, both old & young, will like the esprit de corps throughout this great read. A look at warriors after they find a way to serve their country after the battlefields of Vietnam and the Middle East. Non-military readers will learn the true meaning of Seller Fi and will appreciate the sacrifices of combat soldiers, Marines in particular. A really good book so don't forget to pass it on.

Well pleased by Cooper's writing as always . SSI takes care of business the way many of us would like to see it done. The group of characters have the bond of shared military that makes for a tight group. The fast paced action will keep you hanging on to the very last page .

Fun read!!! The action scenes make you feel like you are right there battling along with Cal, and the story moves at a pace that is refreshingly quick. There aren't many plots I enjoy more than a good old fashion revenge plot, and that's exactly what you have here. It's like ripping a headline out of your local news feed - a nice couple victimized by bad people - and then seeing the retribution handed out just like you'd like it to happen in real life. If you are looking for a fast-paced, fun, and ultimately satisfying read, I'd pick this one up ASAP. I'm looking forward to reading the next installment, and hopefully joining Cal in many adventures to come.

The story line just seemed a bit far fetched to me and the villain, in my opinion, was given a lot more credit then he deserved. As a retired military combat arms officer I found many of the ex military amusing at best but far from realistic. I enjoyed the stories simplicity but have found to many other reads that would come before I read another in this series.

First time reading this author, looked appealing from the cover and jacket description.Started off strong, then started to read like a movie script. I would rather read a book than a screenplay. I pass on this guy, sorry folks...

Each and every C.G. Cooper Corps Justice is filled with the same cool ex military men.....handsome, powerful, wealthy, humorous, dedicated & intelligent! Some are genius in their technology developed to beat the enemy whenever & wherever it shows it's ugly terror. The lovable in-house shrink always ready & able to extract the info needed from the enemy ready to terrorize the potential victims! Each book is a page turner and filled with believable action! I loved each and every book!! True patriots!

I really liked this book. It was fast paced, edge of the seat and engaging. I wasn't expecting much especially since it was free but was pleasantly surprised. I can't wait for Book 2. I also hope it doesn't become redundant like so many series books can become.

Lots of little errors that a good proofreader would have caught. I always find that annoying.

I am not real fond of the style. It is dialog interspersed with descriptions of what is going on. Kind of like a script as another reviewer mentioned.

I got it for free in the Kindle edition, and it was mildly entertaining if pretty simplistic and with a fair number of technical mistakes.

It has a bit of the Mack Bolan comic book flavor to it. The story line has a lot of potential, but the author did not use that potential as best he could.

The characters are all pretty much one dimensional. In fact, in large respect most of the "good" guys are the same character, maybe the author's idealized marine.

Nothing that happens in this book is believable, and very little is even plausible. If that bothers you, it is probably best to avoid the book. It kind of bothers me a little because it could have been made a lot more plausible with some work, and a more plausible story would have greatly improved the book. And really, it would not have taken a lot.

A lot of the problem I have with these kind of books is that the author has never really sat down and thought out the economics of what it would take to actually make an organization like is described in the book feasible. The technology described is not that far out, but the cost of it makes it unlikely, at least for a private security consulting company.

It just doesn't get anymore exciting than this! Definitely a full-bodied, action-packed tale graphically describing what feels like real people in real life situations, this is one reader's won't want to stop reading until the end. If only we had a group like these to take up where our politically correct leaves off!

I liked the book plenty of action and interesting characters, but I did not like the fact the hero of the book was more like Superman, tend to like my hero's a little more vulnerable and realistic. The potential is there for a good series but I hope it becomes more realistic and not so much an invincible bunch heroes.

Teenage drivel. Don't waste your time. I was seduced by the reviewers (why?) who said this was good stuff and because I got four books free on Kindle. Well.......I got what I paid for: nothing. Really, I had high hopes. Darn! Poor plot, almost no character development, unbelievable results, naïve, simplistic right wing patriotic views (I'm a very conservative Republican), vigilante premise, and a very weird dialogue structure that disregards normal grammar and substitutes screenplay techniques to announce who is speaking in a back and forth conversation. A poorly written "Hardy Boys" action story with seriously immature principal characters. Cooper doesn't get an "F", he gets a "D" and has to retake ninth grade composition.

I bought the first three Corps Justice books based on reviews. I probably should have read Back to War first, it would have saved me some money. It's not that this wasn't a good story, it was, and I appreciate the time and incredible effort it takes to write a book. However, it was so much of a boys club that by the middle of the book I was frustrated and angry that the very few women in the entire book (three) were either victims (two), or a lawyer (one). That was it. No female heroes in this book...no female bad asses in this story. Just men. Honestly, between the all male characters and the fact that SSI so conveniently just happen to have invented a toy for every situation was just to simplistic for me. It was boys and their toys on steroids. And you know what, there's nothing wrong with that if you're a boy. But if you're not this story leaves you feeling like you have no place where honor and duty live.

I would like to remind C. G. Cooper that there are tens of thousands of women in our armed forces. Women believe in duty, honor, and country just as much as men do. Women want to be a bad ass just as much as men do. Women want to protect and defend their families and fellow "regular" Americans just as much as men do. But according to this book all those noble deeds are for men only.

I haven't been able to look at the other two books I bought in this series, but when I do I can only hope that SSI is now made up of both men and women fighting to right the wrongs.

Read a sample first to see if you like the style. The dialogue is written like play, with bold capital letters, like:

KRISTEN: (being annoying) What do you think?

SAM: (angry) Whatever I want.

Everything else is description.

This book started out real good until about half way, then it turned into a history lesson. Too much history about each character, going back several years, which I think was unnecessary. Needs a lot more action and less history. If you left out a lot of the history to me the book would have been a lot better. The other two books I read were really good.

Got it free, which was good because it needed proofreading. Spellcheck and grammar check are in place, but weird paragraph spacings, and words that appear in the middle of sentences, because the author started to write something then went a different direction but did not delete words he begun with, they do distract. Hoping that I find less errors in the next 2 free books, and I may buy the series.

All the characters are recycled. I got 75% through and couldn't take the recycled characters anymore. Plus the author gets off on Marines too much. I love and support our troops, but it was just too much here.

I guess one shouldn't be too critical of a free book, but it does seem to me that the author should have at least gotten his mother or father or sister or.... someone to read the the thing with a red pencil in hand before throwing it out there for real readers to labor through. I'll just give one example: ..."I wouldn't loved one of these over in the desert." When you run across one of these every ten or so pages you start thinking that ... heck ,,, I could write a book too.

Ending seemed rushed. The story did not focus enough on the villain and villains background. Villain came across as I small time thug committing local crimes. The twist at the end does not fit the character set up in the beginning and throughout the story.

I loved this story. I read it in 4 hours, because the storyline and characters drew me in and kept my interest throughout the book. It reminded me of a Tom Clancy novel and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

I didn't read much past the first couple of pages, then skimmed through to about the third chapter. I thought the story sounded really good but having the names of the speakers spelled out completely turned me off. Was not interested in reading a complete book written like that. I thought I was reading a play. That's the only reason I gave it just two stars. If the book should ever get edited to a regular book format I'd love to read it, and would probably give it a four or five star rating.

This was one of the few worst book that I have read,I downloaded the first 5,but I cant even force myself to read the first, the characters are so boring and there is nothing in the book that is entertaining at all all the characters seem like kids instead of grown battle hardened adults.I will try and look at the 2nd book,if it is the same will delete all of them and not bother with any more from this author

Writing Back to War like a screenplay was a pretty neat idea, even if it was a little hard to get into at first. I think I would've been able to read the whole thing if the racism wasn't so strong. It kept pulling me out of the story. And the characters were kind of cliche--the heroic white Marine bent on righteous vengeance, the evil black gang leader/pimp/drug pusher, the loyal Hispanic sidekick...

The noting each person's speech is distracting to this e of us who do not need assistance . To title each person as they speak May be needed in s hook plays or movie scripts..but those of us who buy books t o read..it kills it kills flow Nd and encourages us not to seek this author as the writing format sucks.

I don't get it - 419 people actually got through this? And half of those gave it high reviews? After this sentence in chapter one, I closed it. "What Shorty couldn't know what that the young man had realized the trap, although too late, when he glimpsed the remaining gang members block the opening to the alley." This is the feel through the first chapter. I am sorry I cannot get further into this book in the hopes there may be a redeeming story line - this sounds like something an elementary school kid would write. Could the author do better? Of course!!! He needs to learn grammar and sentence structure and, if he did, he might become a great author!

Has America become this illiterate that it accepts this kind of writing and thinks it's good writing? Heck, if that's the case, I'm going to write this caliber, hire a book rating company, and sell similar. It makes me mad this kind of stuff actually makes it into the store Books.

The usual nonsense about the characters in this novel being more in touch with the Constitution than anyone in government. This group of people has its own private army to administer "Corps Justice". As a former Marine, I resent that this clown is actually using my Marine Corps to push his fascist agenda.

Although one good character is black, the micro-digs at blacks are constant. All the bad guys are black. And of course there is the reference by the chief bad guy to "My boy in the White House".

Dialog is stilted. Think of the pompous dialog John Wayne recited in "Sands of Iwo Jima" and find it all through this work.

Don't waste your time.

This is my second reading of the first book in the "Corps Justice" series. I read it for the first time about 3 years ago, before the 2018 revision.
Reading the negative opinions of other reviewers reminded me that I gave the book 4 out of 5 stars. I had to subtract 1 star because of the poor proofreading and editing the book received and I really mean dismal! I started highlighting and keeping correction notes as I read. Those notes eventually ran over 5 pages; everything from typos to grammatical and punctuation boo boos. I had planned to send those notes to the author and beg him to hire better proofreaders.

My point is that I still gave the book 4 out of 5 stars. It was so good that I was captivated by the story IN SPITE of the mistakes. Some of those mistakes actually impaired the reader's understanding and appreciation of the material, a grievous writting no-no.

I went on to read all of the subsequent "Corps" books and their spinoffs, most of them one right after the other, with no other books in between. Compulsive readers like myself know how rare an event like that is.

I am now rereading the second book, "Council of Patriots", and am pleased to tell you the quality of the proofreading and editing in enormously improved. So, go ahead and buy all CG Cooper's books. They still have a few minor errors but the books are so damn good you won't care!

This was a modest guilty pleasure to read. Lots of action ... what's going to happen next? But WAY OVER THE TOP in right wing / testosterone dripping heroics. The evil black gangleader does horrible things to the ex-Marine, who turns out is part of a secret private paramilitary & extraordinarily wealthy group that act almost TOTALLY outside any law, with the most high-tech lethal tools imaginable. Politicians, agencies, most everybody else is mostly incompetent or corrupt, but with God-Like knowledge of good and evil, these ex-Marines hand select use 'Corps Justice' (themselves) to know who is bad, who is good, and decide who, when, and how to kill or otherwise take out the bad guys. Secretly, highest ranking politicians & law enforcement aid & abet & pay for this 'WET' justice when the (incompetent) legal system can't be trusted. The heroes are near super-heroes: extraordinarily strong, capable ot enduring horrendous physical abuse, good looking, honest, and with a sense of brotherhood and unbreakable trust. Just like I wanted to be when I was 10 years old.

I’ve only read this first book but I’m not sure yet if I’m going to read another. If I’m honest I probably won’t. Everything just seemed to be too good to be “real”, even for an imaginary literary world. His gf dies and it is like it never happened. It’s glossed over and he shows no emotion about it at all. There is no backstory to him to show what made him who he is. When he decides to go after the villain, who is a street drug dealer, he has a complete mercenary corporation fall into his lap complete with the required tech nerd who has all kinds of tech gadgets that are “prototypes” that are just perfect for each situation, and the “prototypes” always work perfectly too. But they can’t find their street thug, oh no! An entire book is dedicated to finding this street thug. Really?? Too unbelievable and in other situations over the top. I love fantasy but it usually comes with dragons and elves.

This book proves you can. Apparently anyone can.

I couldn’t get past the first chapter due to a grammatical error in the first paragraph, junior-high writing style and an numbing number of lazy cliches. Of course there is a gang member named shorty. Of course he hates white people. Of course he makes exaggerated motions with his knife and hammer to show how he’s going to mess up said white people. And of course our hero’s fiancé is tragically murdered to prove how and why he is a troubled soul. Uggghhh... at least I know now, despite being a mediocre writer, apparently I can launch a ten book series.

Cal is a recently honorably discharged Marine. His father a colonel was a legend in the Marines. Cal and his finance are walking down a street in Memphis and are pushed into an alleyway by gang members. His fiancee is murdered. Cal manages to kill most of the attackers even though seriously wounded. The leader Dante manages to escape. His gang is decimated. Revenge is now his most powerful motivator. He has no idea who or what he is up against. This is an extraordinary read! Extremely well written and fast paced. Enjoyed immensely!!

I really appreciated the chapter introduces as the characters were introduced. It helped avoid overlap from one character to the next as we are getting to know each one. I understand this is fiction however, I really appreciate books that present our patriots and warriors in a positive role while showing that there is still a call for them on their daily lives once they leave active duty and this does it hands down. I'm anxious to get on to the next book. Here, here. I'll take two fingers of that fine Grouse too.

Terrific story. Brothers in arms, all ex-military employed by Cal's company.
Whilst many books place the focus on the weapons, the mission and the shooting at the expense of the characters, this one doesn't. The author has managed to find a perfect balance.
This action filled tale also adroitly deals with the human side of soldiering and what happens to many ex-military who fall through the cracks, or defend what is right at the expense of their own careers. Nice not to have just cold blooded killing machines striding around. These are normal people who at one time served selflessly served their country and have now found themselves a new home.
Heaps of tension and good humour and some very nifty gadgets from the tech guru, Neil.
Never a dull moment.
But boy, what a finishing paragraph to this book. Glad I have the next book, Council of Patriots, all set to open next or the curiosity may have damaged my psyche!
Highly recommended.

Former Marine Staff Sergeant Cal Stokes has returned to the United States from War. He and His fiancé are on their way to dinner, when a gang initiation goes wrong and plunges him into a war here in the U.S.! He loses his fiancé, kills several gang members, blinds one, and wounds the head of the gang. Cal wakes up in the Hospital with a former Navy Corpsman as his Nurse. This book takes off from there and does not slow Down! This is all I am going to tell you. This book is A Good Read!! This first trip down a series road is pretty good. Interesting characters, and their backstories didn't drag on. I'm a fan of revenge themes, so this fit for me. I'm also a fan of teams working together to achieve a goal, and this cast didn't disappoint. This is worth a foray into the next book in the set. One thing, though, as an indie author myself...note to this author. Edit, Edit, Edit. See the chapter "Top". There are others scattered throughout as well. The grammar and quotation errors don't affect the storyline, they're just a little annoying to anals like myself.

The premise started ok, a vet attacked, his girfriend is killed, he seeks revenge, etc. etc. But, the author then seems to just copy W.E.B. Griffin...in pretty clear detail right down to the favorite drink: Famous Grouse, lots of family money secret resources etc. The writer lost credibility as a military author by having a character call for a "30MM" mortar. In My day there were 60MM, 81MM, and 4.2"...no 30MM. There were pretty loud racist suggestions and conspiracy theories lurking. I'll not give more details to not spoil the book for others but it was disappointing to me.

This is a thrilling novel with much action and suspense. I could barely put it down to get some sleep. I enjoyed the way that each person had special individual skills and that those skills were called upon when needed to form a great team. It is always great when skilled patriots wage justice on criminal elements, corrupt politicians, and terrorists. Great job. Needs just a little more proof reading. There are about 10 spots where a word was missing or an extra word was added that made no sense.

I really wanted to love this book. I barely liked it. The basis is good. The execution is not. It is written in a movie or play script style. This becomes very distracting to the reader. It makes reading it difficult and literally pulls you away from the characters and the story. It started off really interesting. There are sections that work well and pull you back in. I think if it had been written using a more traditional style I would have enjoyed it. I have 2 more of this authors books to read, and I will eventually. But this one disappointed me.

This is not a type of book I normally read so I can truthfully say it was different. I like the action and the space age technology ..From a personal level I very much like the idea that there is justice beyond the normal. Having been on the receiving end of criminals and being told by the law enforcement from which I went to seek help .... WELL YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER and letting that be end of their response or caring I love the idea of these heroes being real !!! I will probably read more of this series !!! Thank You !!!

As a Vietnam era Marine I had hopes for this book. The story line was fantastical but had possibilities. I was disappointed by the non-existent proofreading and the tortured grammar. The torture scene was rendered hilarious by the author's ignorance. Even connected in series , 12 V car batteries cannot overcome the electrical resistance of the human body to allow harmful current to flow. Utter nonsense!

Despite editing errors, the true essence of this book is the telling of the story. The author takes the time to introduce its characters in vivid detail and then proceeds to pull you into one hell of a story. I have found a series well worth my time and am looking forward to reading each book by C. G. Cooper.

The book started fine but then seems to move at a glacial pace. The key characters spent a lot of time drinking and telling each other how great the other person was.

I read and enjoyed Adrift, so I didn't hesitate to add Corps Justice books 1-3 to my reading queue. And it wasn't long before I reached for them.
Cooper does a great job of creating characters, action and a story line that you don't want to put down. I find myself reading until my eyes won't focus when I should be sleeping.
I tried not to read all three at once, but it is so hard to put them down.
The good news is I just added another C.G. Cooper book to my read queue.
Thanks for a great read, C.G.

If you like Murray McDonald, Roger Steljes, and Jack Silkstone, you will enjoy this series. The storyline for the Corps Justice books is cleverly constructed with the requisite characters having unique skills and personalities. The technical ordnance narrative is constrained and the internal conflicts of the leads are well-managed. Fast-paced and intriguing, the heroics are mostly grounded and somewhat believable. The transition to the next book in the series is obvious but intriguing. This author is well worth a look at this price.

To any Veteran who gets tired of seeing "bad people" seemingly winning against the "System", or has enjoyed a WEB Griffin or a Vince Flynn novel you'll find this book very enjoyable.
Go read this book Now.

Lots of Information we!l presented. Even for those without military background the story is easy to understand. All this background will be useful when I read other novels in the series. And I will! Enjoy!!

I got through the first chapter and really liked it. Then in the following chapters, the brother, warrior gung ho became nauseating. This was a irritant when reading and could not be ignored. Conservative view point in the era of Trumpism cannot be ignored or passed over. Didn't finish the book

Reading this helped me take out some of my frustrations on current injustices. It was an entertaining read without having to discern it's redeeming social value. I'll be following the hero through this series. Semper Fi, Cal, I've got your back.

This is a great illustration of the downside to our criminal justice system. As well as a spotlight on the way veterans soooo often treated. The main character is a superman and it's always fun to wish there are really some warriors like that.

I really enjoyed this book and finished it in one day. The author writes from experience and weaves an excellent story. If you enjoy this type of book I think you will enjoy this one. I certainly did.

Believable and thrilling ride! I enjoyed getting to know the characters individually with just the right amount of historical information. The book is written so that civilian personnel may understand the loyalty that exists among the Corp; especially personal to vets. Semper Fi, Marine.

Story: bad
Screenplay style: bad. This is the first book I've read like this, but it wasn't good.
Character development: none
Turnpager? none at all

Like MJ said: Bad bad, really, really bad

Poorly written with an unimaginative plot. Not everyone can be a genius, yet pretty much every character is. Reads like it was written by the staff of Brietbart, while thinly trying to disguise their alliance. If you are a far right conservative that believes in conspiracies or a fan of Alex Jones, this is the book for you. I will say that the ending did provide suspense, but not enough for me to buy, rent or read another in the series.

I dunno. I had some hopes for this series, but I'm not impressed thus far. I didn't find too many twists and turns in the plot, and the ones I did read were a bit too far fetched for my taste (I don't do spoilers, so just trust me on this.) I see from a note on the the store page that the author feels his technique of doing the dialogue screenplay style makes it- I think the word was "pop". He's wrong. It makes the text disjointed, and interrupts the flow of the story.

As does his approach of veering off into a character history for every single person who pops up in the book, no matter how trivial they are. Including the guy who cleans an office. That's all he does. In fact, I don't think he even appears, he's just mentioned in the narration, something along the lines of "the office was immaculate, having been cleaned by...". So why do we need to know his life story? Especially when it isn't much different from any other character? He was a squared away marine, he hit a hard spell, miraculously met the main character's father, was rescued by this saint-like man, and got his life relatively back in order. So what? By that point, we've seen the exact same story some 10-15 times already, with only the details varying.

I'll start the second book, since I got the first three for nothing. But the trigger is a lot quicker now, and the ending to book 1, segueing into the opening for Book 2, had me rolling my eyes so much, I'm surprised they didn't come out of my head and roll across the floor. Yet another cliched plot coming!

My hopes aren't terribly high, and with no money invested in it, it'll be an easy call to delete it if my expectations are correct. But in my humble opinion, the author is nowhere near as good a writer as he thinks.

I just finished the first three books of this series and have to say I enjoyed reading these stories. Written with an eye for making sure you understand that the brotherhood and the bonding of men can only be formed by men who have served through good and bad times. I was reminded of my own time in the Navy where I built friendships and bonds that still exist today. I can't wait to start on the rest of the series.

Amazing, riveting story! My daughter tells me she sees where her son, my grandson gets his love for books from. We both can't seem to put a book down when we begin reading! I look forward to reading the other books in the series.

I'm pretty sure it was a Brad Thor tweet that put me on to this book. I "borrowed" it from the store Kindle (I'm a Prime member). I enjoy Daniel Silva, Brad Thor, Vince Flynn and Frederick Forsythe...so was hoping this was of that caliber...unfortunately it was not. There were (already mentioned) typesetting errors and missing words...a dead giveaway of insufficient editing and good, thoughtful planning (plot and characters). There was too much "background" material and wordy storytelling that did not move the action forward...and a tad bit too much "preaching" or insertion of personal messages about the military etc. Sorry, it just didn't meet my expectations.

I have read the entire series now. I am sad that I have none left. I enjoyed all of them immensely. It is well written and moves quickly. It is very easy to read and goes by quickly. I cannot wait until another book comes out in the series.

While there are hints of 'right-leaning' political tone in the book, the story is complex and interesting, the characters are well-developed for the reader, and you feel a sense of pride for the successes that the good-guys have. It is a most enjoyable, exciting and intriguing book to read. I highly recommend it, along with the others books (Books 2-3) in this series that I have read.

This book grabbed my attention from the beginning, first book I've finished using Kindle. While there are a few errors occasionally, the book was fantastic! I was engaged the whole time, and finished within 4 days. I didn't want to stop reading.

Loved the book. Ending was a bit bizarre. No explanation for his apparent escape. However, the novel is rife with grammar errors and incorrectly spelled words. Is there nobody out there who can properly edit a book?

Nicely written and entertaining, with a solid plot and lots of action. It definitely reminds me of the A-Team meets the Avengers, which is the sort of thing that's right up my alley, even if this isn't my usual genre. It's got a little bit of everything here: humor, action, a strong moral, a smart villain, and a likeable cast of characters. Not to mention the ending will leave you wanting to pick up the second book right away.
