an amazing compilation of pure amazing story telling. Selena has outdone herself in this set. Her imaginative, innovative revision of stories we grew up on is outstanding. I will never look at fairy tales the same way. Awesome read! HIghly recommend!

Sooo, I read the 50 shades of grey series and wanted more "naughty" stories to keep my mind entertained in that "adult" way. These stories are OK but they aren't fabulous. I've had this set for almost a year now and I've only read the 1st one and maybe part of the 2nd one. Clearly, it hasn't kept my attention long enough to get through even a 1/3 of the stories. Maybe it's because I was expecting way more sex; or maybe it's because I was expecting the story lines to be a little closer to the fairy tales you grow up with as a child. For me, the tales just seem a little lack luster and since they deviate pretty largely from the original fairy tales it makes you wonder why this one "goldie locks" etc etc.

This is exactially what I was looking for. Adult fairy tales. Each story is keeping me entertained-the story lines, the characters, the sex...very few books get all 3 of those right, and Selena Kit did. I will be reading more of her things.

The first few stories were fun to read! I loved the different spin on the fairy tales and I loved even more that they got a little dirty!! But after a few they just got old it got hard for me to finish them... Maybe I just shouldn't have tried to read them all at once...

Wow Selena Kitt she will make your bedroom rock with just about anything she writes. I dare you to only read one Fairytale at a time. You will certainly see a new side to Alice and never quite think about Wonderland the same.

I like the author's voice and will likely check out some of her other works. This book is supposed to be modern takes on old fairy tales, but I really don't see the parallels. Granted, I have not finished the book, but so far, I'm unimpressed.

I was hoping for a collection of naughty fairy tales, but other than Alice, most of these are quite tame. They're also not so much retellings as they are recycling character names and very loose plot points, or very literal retellings with a sex scene thrown in. There are a couple of good, imaginative stories here, but for the most part it was disappointing.

Beauty: ★★☆☆☆

This one was quite awkward. Of course, being a modern retelling, the hero is badly scarred and hides his face and body from the heroine. But that's basically the only connection to the original tale. Instead it reads like a very awkward and rushed Romantic Suspense, as Jolee's husband hired some men to kidnap and murder her, but his brother, Silas, finds her, nurses her back to health, and they fall in love. All without her ever seeing his face, not that looks matter. But he wore a ski mask all the time which is awkward.

Goldilocks ★★★★☆

I really liked this one! Goldilocks as a locksmith slash cat burglar is a great twist! Although the actual plot reminded me more of Robin Hood, because Goldie and her partner in crime are stealing back something very, very important to someone. There's an amazing amount of backstory and history here, which I thought was great for such a short story! It would probably have made a good full-length suspense.

Briar Rose ★★☆☆☆

I'm a bit torn on this one. Our Sleeping Beauty can only orgasm while dreaming, which is quite the interesting erotic twist. However, parts of the story are actually quite uncomfortable. It opens with Rose attempting to commit suicide and hoping her ex-fiance finds her. Then she's whisked away to this sexual therapy facility where, of course, she falls in love with her doctor. It's totally unethical what they do, even if he did get it "approved." I liked the whole idea of Rose going to this unconventional facility, but the doctor-patient relationship didn't sit right with me even though the author did include discussions of ethics and contracts. It was just a weird one for me.

Goldilocks ★★★★☆

Making Goldilocks a hairdresser isn't the most original twist, but making her a hairdresser with cancer, who lost all of her hair and has to wear a wig is pretty great! This is probably the sweetest story in the collection, as Rachel deals with the insecurity of losing all of her hair, finds love, and saves her salon!

Red ★★★★☆

This one is probably my favorite! It's set in the 1930s and is the most obvious retelling. Mae is taking care of her sick grandmother as they prepare to move away from the city. The wolf character is a total sleeze! The huntsman is a magician! It has a bit of suspense and was just a fun read!

Alice ★★☆☆☆

I liked this one at first, because Wonderland is a BDSM club! It's the only story which is actually "wicked." But then Alice suddenly freaks out and I have no idea why, and it becomes the Disney movie but with nudity. Basically it got too weird and less sexy.

Gretel ★★☆☆☆

I'm a bit bummed over this one! I know the author isn't afraid to go there, so I was definitely expecting this one to be a (step-)sibling lovin' story! It's not, sadly. I did like the twist of Hans and Gretel's grandmother being the head of a sugar cane company who has nefarious plans! That was fun, but the sex has the absolute worst dialogue. *cringe*

Wendy: ★☆☆☆☆

So...that was actually pretty terrible. I hate retellings where every single character's name is exactly the same and no one finds it odd. And Peter sounded twelve which was unbelievable for an eighteen year old, especially one who has gone through what he has. It also just made the sex super duper awkward, because...twelve. Not to mention that Tink is an insensitively portrayed transgender woman.

While some parts of some stories were creative and/or hot, I felt it could have been written a lot better.
For example, the writer used the same speech lines for nearly every sex scene which was unnecessary, repetitive, and unrealistic. Why does every woman say that line during nearly every story? Why does the guy in some stories say another line that others said before him in other stories? It made me laugh (not the reaction the writer intended).
It felt kind of like sometimes the sex scenes were copy/pasted then altered slightly, but not enough.
One story also involved pages just about science and explaining things that aren't crucial to an erotica story. Why am I being told how Splenda is made?
In addition, there were quite a few typos/mistakes the writer/editor missed.
I wouldn't recommend spending more than $4 or $5 on this, as there are better books by other authors with similar themes (fairytale/fantasy).

What can I say, but I loved this series of short stories! Taking original fairy tales, spicing them up and throwing in twists, what more can be said then AMAZING!

After purchasing my very first e-reader, I was on the search for something I had never read before, and through discovering the world of e-books and hours of skimming through Barnes and Nobles & the store’s websites, I knew I wanted to read more romance/erotica. In my search I came across Selena Kitt’s Modern Wicked Fairy Tales – BINGO! This was the first author I discovered after reading 50 shades and I could not have been more excited to dive right in!
Just to name a couple of favorites:

Beauty being the first story in the book became my favorite immediately, when I read a book I always imagine the characters almost like I am watching a movie! I fell in love with the characters and the suspense of what was going to happen with ever turn of the page was riveting.

Rapunzel was a wonderful story as well! A sexy, sultry story, yet if the reader looks deeper, the meaning with in the story was very special!

So for anyone that is curious about purchasing Selena Kitt’s Modern Wicked Fairy Tales – my answer is a 5 star – Hell Yes! You will not be disappointed!

Basing the rating for "Beauty" alone, 3 stars is the best I could offer. After reading "Beauty," I couldn't see myself wanting to read more of Selena's work. It took a lot for me to get hooked, I discovered interruptions were graciously welcomed from the choppy plot, horrendous grammatical errors, and lack of description.

I will allow kudos for a somewhat original, albeit not well thought out, story.

This collection of erotic stories holds up very well. There are a total of eight stories that are modern adaptions of fairy tales, each named after the heroine featured.

Of the eight, I found the real standouts to be Beauty, Briar Rose and Rapunzel, with the weakest being Wendy. But even the weakest is not badly written. There is the odd grammatical error here and there but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book at all. If you are looking for a fun, highly erotic read with some spicy scenes and have no objections to graphic descriptions of sex or coarse language then there's an excellent chance this book is for you.

I gave this 5 stars because it has been a very long time since I could not put something down. The day I got this book I could not put it down. there was no TV, no computer, no phone just me sitting in the corner of the couch flipping my E-reader a fast as I got a page done. The only thing better would have been having it read to me....LOL

First time I've read any of the Selena Kitt books ! Each story was engaging, and had everything needed to keep me reading. What a great twist on the "normal" Fairy Tale.....If you are a fan of Selena Kitt, then these books are a must read ! I will be ordering more of her books as they come out !

This book IMO was a disappointment in a big way. When I received it from a friend to read, I thought it would be a very spicy book. Boy was I wrong. It was nothing but average love stories that barely had anything wicked about them or in them. So if you like being disappointed in a book you buy, this would be the one for you. If you value your money and want what you know is in the book, then I would suggest that you do not purchase this book.
