This book like the preceding books in the series is full of action, complex characters, and more questions. Hamilton avoids taking the easy way out of situations and provides a strong heroine filled with internal turmoil doing her best among the monsters as she questions her own humanity as well as what makes a monster.

Anita Blake is one of the best characters to come around since Rachel Morgan. Laurell K. Hamilton's work is to put it very simply...spellbinding. I can't remember the last time that I completely devoured and savored every word of a book, the way I have with the Anita Blake series. Hamilton leaves you wanting more, the way she evolves her story line and characters is pure magic. I have just finished book 6 The Killing Dance and all I can say is Bravo, not to mention I just took advantage of the 4 for 3 sale and ordered the rest of the series and I can't wait to sink my teeth into them. The only dissapoitment I am not looking forward to is when I finish all the books and the series is done!

Ms. Hamilton is very talented. I intend to purchase the entire series of Anita Blake......She is better then Buffy with a totally different outlook on what should be good or bad. I just started collecting the cds and intend to continue to the end.....Go with gusto Anita Blake.

In The Killing Dance, Anita is dating both Richard Zeeman and Jean-Claude. To add to the fun some has put a bounty on Anita's head so there are bad guys trying to kill her left and right. So she ask for help from her friend Edward. Though by the end of the book Anita is Jean-Claude's human servent and Richard is his wolf to call and wolf king.

I have read all previous Anita Blake novels on my kindle without noticing any errors. However, this novel is fraught with misspellings. Considering one can buy the hardcopy for a penny, you would think that the eight dollar kindle edition would be corrected by now.

I cannot believe that Anita has sex with Jean Claude just because she was grossed out by Richard's beast. A beast that she insisted on seeing btw. At least Richard is caring and loves her... She says she loves Richard in a much deeper way than Jean Claude...yet she screws him.

The Killing Dance is my all time favorite Anita Blake novel. The only book that rivals it is the first one, Guilty Pleasures. What I love about this book is the relationship between Anita and Jean Claude. I have read this book at least three times, and I often revisit the bathroom scene with Anita and Jean Claude. It is well-written, and I feel the angst, love, and tensions between these two people just learning to trust and love each other.

Simultaneously, I start to dislike Richard in this novel based on how he treats Anita. It is interesting to reflect on who he is as a person compared to how he progresses in the later novels, especially in terms of Asher. Richard's character is too one-dimensional in this book.

The fight scenes between some of the villains, such as Marcus, Reina, and Gabriel are not something to miss. Anita is a strong woman that kicks ass no matter how much the odds are stacked against her.

My most recent reread was with the audio book via audible.com. Kimberly Alexis is an amazing reader. She does all the voices so well, and the music productions during some of the high-tension scenes makes me feel like I am listening to an old-fashioned radio show.

Any fan of the series, or even newcomers, should give this book a try. You will not be disappointed. It represents Laurell K. Hamilton at her best, and it sets up storylines that will occur in later books, such as an adventure with Edward.

On a side note, I love the title. It is very fitting, and the reader will find out why as they learn more about the history of Richard's pack. Even on this third reading, I found myself surprised by some of the outcomes at the end of the book. Hamilton is a master of suspense, romance, and fantasy. This is an exciting read that you do not want to miss.
