Love Anita Blake but I found myself trying to speed read to the good parts. Don't get me wrong, I love the characters and am a huge Anita Blake and crew fan but too much romance not enough action here.

I really am disappointed In Mrs. Hamilton's last several novels. This is just a very very short read. It's like all her stories are about sex. I really wish I could get my money back. Where are the good vampire hunter stories? She started out so good, now her books have no story to them, just a bunch of erotica. Like she's trying to please a new crowd. I hate that all the charters have developed different personalities than what she started with. Most authors put a teaser on their website, instead of taking advantage of their fans.

This is a generic scene in Jean Claude's bathroom that could be in any story. Yet, all of the flaws of Laurell K Hamilton's writing are there. Out of this short out take, at least half was used in describing appearance. There were two different paragraphs where the color blue was used at least five times. There was a consistancy problem; Anita puts all of her weapons in a cabinet, then she is carrying a gun. She also managed to review her oppression by tall, Nordic types, doubt her own beauty, and call her enemies jealous whiners.
The last half was just a manage-trois that LKH managed to make boring, with Jean Claude 'topping' everyone. He said it would be he and Asher, then started calling all of the shots. There was so much excitement (NOT!) that he might as well have been reading the commands off of an index card.
The preview, which was not even a full scene, had more action and plot development then this out take. It was half the length exactly (taking up a third of the contents)and almost had me interested in finding out what happened next, however, I'll let someone else read that book first to see if the action keeps going or if we are left with the dredges displayed in Beauty.

Anita Blake stories are great this one was no exception I love watching her characters evolve....... but am looking forward to Merrideth Gentry The twins , the new Sithens I think She's gonna bring fairy our into the human realm and rule over those cast out and fleeing the Seelie and Unseelie.

An awesome out take with an erotically descriptive threesome between Anita and her two hottest vampires! In a way that Laurell Hamilton can only do with the Anita Blake series! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Laurell Hamilton pushes boundaries and her characters are believable. I've asked myself a time or two "what would Anita do here" and found some courage to do some things I would have ran from in the past. This happens because Anita is so real on paper that I can picture her as more than just a character in my head. Great story. Great writing. Can't wait for more.

Laurell K. Hamilton never disappoints me. All her books are and equal blend of the mystery and violence I have come to expect and the hot steamy action I've come to love! This book was just a "quickie". Like an addict... just a little fix. ;)
