So much clarity with different aspects of my life after reading this book. If you are stuck with what is next for you and want to find clarity with your life I highly recommend this book. I have read many other self help, personal development/growth books, but this is simple to follow and not overwhelming. Loved this book so much that i even signed up for Platform University and his work has helped me. Thanks for all that you do Michael Hyatt!!!!

Fantastic read but more than that - it's an effective workbook towards making your life count! The tone is conversational and the ideas will require you to be thoughtful and intentional. I read and did the exercises simultaneously with a simple pad of paper and a pen. I'm half way through and I did it in just a few hours over a weekend. Definitely worth picking up and applying. Subscribe to Michael's podcast too. They really go hand in hand!

Just finished today. I am so amazed by the simplicity (yet thoroughness) of the process. I have been focusing on who I want to be lately, but this gave me an actually road map. Further breaking each topic down by weather you are passionate or productive about it helped me to see areas where I was truly lacking.
This must-read will help anyone evaluate their life, reorganize their priorities, and come out a more well-rounded person.

I was pleased with the directness of the writing structure. This book allows the reader to understand the importance of having a life plan, and gives the steps along with examples on how to accomplish this goal. I recommend this book for those who want a solid direction in their life.

A very well thought out and applicable step by step guide to planning your life. I can appreciate the wisdom found in this book, that which was gathered by experience and by testing these proven methods. Living in a society that glorifies wealth and possessions, it is so refreshing to read the personal testimonies of men who risked all of that to place the value back on what really matters.
I've taken a lot of inspiration from Michael Hyatt as he's consistently shown me what it looks like to operate in excellence, stewardship, and patience. He doesn't promote a quick-fix to life's surface problems, but rather, he offers true and proven guidance and he's giving it away to anyone who wants it! I don't only suggest this book but I suggest that you subscribed to Michael's blogs and use these tools to grow to your fullest potential.

You rarely come across a book that serve everyone in your surrounding: Yourself, your business colleges, and your family. It is one of few practice life changing books if given the right attention and follow up. This is a book that I will keep a copy of in my office and home and will be a preferred gift I will give to everyone I care for.

I appreciated both authors sharing their personal experiences with us in order to make their key points. I found this book to be thought and action provoking and i will be implementing the Life Plan development strategy in 2017 and beyond.

There are a great many ideas and suggestions that applied to my position in my life journey. I am a retired senior citizen, I found the content both inspiring and useful when I put suggestions in place.

I've already bought this book for three other people. I cannot stress how much this book has helped me get on track with my life plan and goals. Sure, it's easy to "say" you're going to do this or do that, but using the lessons in each chapter of this book I now actually have a solid plan of where I want my life to go. As the author says, people go on road trips and sail boats, and they always have a map of where they're headed, but no one creates a life map for themselves. The author makes a lot of sense. This book is inspiring and definitely worth a read.

Are you satisfied where your life is headed? Do you know you’re giving your very best to God and others? Have you reached a fork in the road, and aren’t sure which way to turn?
Michael Hyatt & Daniel Harkavy’s new book "Living Forward" can help. It fills a gap in productivity and self-help books. Where most books deal with the nuts and bolts of time management, delegation, increased sales, and organizational tips, Living Forward starts with a more fundamental question – Where’s your life headed?
The day-to-day choices we make start with deeper values. But how often do we pause to take account of what’s important, and to make sure we haven’t drifted off course? Living Forward explains how to chart a course for the future by identifying your values, goals, and dreams, and will make sure your daily routine is in sync with your long-term goals. The book is divided into three sections.
I. Understand Your Need. Part One reveals our natural tendency to drift. We are introduced to the idea of mission and see the benefits of creating our own. If there was one section of the book that seemed to drag a little, it was this first section. I came into the book eager to learn about a life plan, and didn’t need 54 pages to convince me of its importance.
II. Create Your Plan. Part Two is the heart of the book. In these four chapters, we learn how to design a legacy, define priorities, chart a course of action, and set aside one day to turn this from a nice idea into a reality. These chapters alone are more than worth the price of the book.
III. Make It Happen. Part Three shows you how to implement and review your life plan, and how to facilitate one in the lives of others — particularly your business. I could see the benefit of an entire organization doing this as a personal development or team-building activity.
The strength of the book lies in its simplicity and practicality. What other productivity books often assume, or nod in passing, these authors devote an entire book to. It’s the culmination of hundreds of life-coaching seminars and conversations. Steps are clearly laid out, with lots of examples, questions, checklists, and worksheets. I’m already implementing some of the tools into my own life, and sharing them with others.
My main advice for the reader is this: Don’t use it alone. Living Forward will convince you of the benefit of a life plan and help you craft and review your own. But how do you decide on the right goals in the first place? Where do you find the right vision and mission for your life or organization?
I would suggest that visualizing “the life that you want” and writing your own eulogy is not enough. Ultimately, it is faithfulness to God that should be our highest concern. We should all want to hear those words from our heavenly Judge, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Now, I realize this book targets a much wider audience than just Christian readers, and that it’s beyond the scope of the book to go into such detail, but that’s my point exactly. Read it — just don’t read it alone. Use it as a springboard. Use it as a productivity tool. As the dust jacket suggests, Living Forward can even be a compass to point you in the right direction and keep you on track. But a compass only works if it is properly calibrated to true north. And for that, you’ll need a guidebook written by God himself.

Having worked with mid-career professionals and executives on the non-financial elements of preparing for retirement, I was curious to how these authors approach life planning. Happily, I was pleased to find a very well conceived framework for a designed life leading to specific ends, and setting a path for getting there.
Based on my experience, I’ve found that people tend to focus on life planning too late in life. So, I’m pleased to see this very solid resource for adults who want to be more intentional about living happier and more fulfilling lives – starting now!
In particular, I like how the authors established the foundation for a meaningful life in terms of what matters most and personal legacy. I also loved the way they framed the nine basic “life accounts” (areas of living) in terms of being, relating, and doing. As well, I think their four-quadrant life assessment profile based on passion and progress is simply brilliant!
Perhaps the one thing that I had mixed feelings about was the authors’ use of a GPS metaphor. Unlike a compass, which tells you general directions and leaves the choice of path flexible, a GPS seems too locked into a predetermined path or some recalculated variation thereof. The risk is a GPS can be “set and forget,” thereby limiting opportunities to go off the beaten path. But this is really a minor point of personal preference; it doesn’t lessen the value of the life planning approach presented here.
So, if you want to stop drifting and live more intentionally, this book is excellent! Yes, it will challenge you to invest in some hard work, but in a way you can immediately grasp and apply, no matter where you are on your life journey! Better yet, it can help you achieve a more satisfying and meaningful life, starting now!
Thanks, Michael and Daniel for this excellent book! I’m happy to recommend it!

Living Forward is one of the quickest, simplest, easy-to-read books filled with practical takeaways. Wow, that's a mouthful! But for this busy construction attorney and father of seven young children, I have been living adrift for the past few years. Not losing, but definitely not winning. Not dropping the ball, but not playing to win. And I found exactly what I needed in the form of a plan to go forward. Each chapter layers upon the previous one in this very practical guide for making your life purposeful. I like that the authors, Michael Hyatt and Daniel Harkavy, open their own lives for how this book came about, give you clear instructions for making a change, and then provide sample life plans. I was motivated from the first opening chapter, and I finished the book in two settings. I am now ready to being my life plan, Living Forward, to get the life I want. I would definitely recommend this book if you want to improve your marriage, relationships with children, health, business or life in general.
