A Bad Boy Mafia Romance Novel (Alexis Abbott's Hitmen Book 1)

I agree with all the other reviews. The author really sucks you in with this one. I loved the detailed background we get with Ivan in Russia and enough of Katy to understand her feelings. I wish it was longer but at this length she could do no wrong. The chemistry was excellent and I couldn't put it down! The bonus story was good too and I will definitely look into more books from this author. I'm putting this book on my favorites shelf for sure.

I actually did not finish this book, It was boring, and then the hitman was not acting like a real hitman, he was too trusting of the girl and too soon, so I had to stop reading it, did not like the way it was going.

I am voluntarily writing this honest review for the book I received through ARC. I really enjoyed this book because at first it leads down different pathway but, the story does come together without being confusing. Katie's father owned this bar called the amber room.each month she has to pay her monthly payment for her dad's problems plus protection money to the mafia. One night Katy decides to have a little night out from running the bar. She meets Ivan and they have a one night stand but, 3 months later he is back and that's when more twists and turns start happening. Highly Recommend

Katy inherits a club from her murdered father, as well as ongoing debts to the Russian mafia to keep the club safe. Multiple members of the Mafia think she's the girl of their dreams - one threatens her repeatedly, another offers to protect her from the rest and excuse (or cover?) her debt if she submits to him fully for a year.

The sex scenes are predictably (and enjoyably) steamy between the club owner and the hot, ripped Russian with a soft side who possesses her, though the instant connection between them after a one night stand seems unlikely. The various twists and turns as the plot unfolds are equally unlikely, as is the unquestioning faith that Katy ultimately has in Ivan, though it's needed to push the story forward.

Ivan and Katy are incredible in their own way. This book is the tipe of book that keeps you glue to the story is exclusive and unique in it own way. The story makes you want to bee strong and kind, love and desired. When you're life changes and you have to roll with it and make the best you can of the situation, when dealing with things you don't even imaging you're life can even handle, that what this book is about and is great. I love this story and I'm looking forward for the next book.

I loved listening to this story. Alexis has a wonderful way of writing that just makes you want more and that's from the very beginning. Lauren did a great job of giving voices to Ivan and Katy. I'm a bit spoiled by the sound of Tracy Marks voice when she gives a Russian accent. BUUUTTT I may be working on getting spoiled y Lauren too. The sweet romance and hard edges to Ivan just made this story perfect. I can't wait to continue on with more of Alexis's works.

I thought that this book was bland and boring. Absolutely nothing really interesting happens, the hero is pretty mundane for a Russian hit man. When he states that he wants her for a year of her doing whatever he wants, I expected it to be more than what was described. Overall I could have spent my time on more interesting endeavors.

I really loved the romance and surprisingly sweet love that blossomed between two completely opposite people. The author developed characters you can't help but fall for and want to have fall in love! The sex scenes in this book are completely steamy, with an alpha male dominating his lover and giving the readers some of the best written, heated scenes that I have read.

Katy has inherited her father's night club after he was killed, and along with it, his debt to the mafia. Despite her best efforts, she can't make this month's payment and she is both scared and angry that she was left in this position. Ivan is a hitman for the mafia and several weeks ago enjoyed a night of passion with Katy. He offers her his protection in exchange for her agreeing to be his for a year.

Ultimately, this is not a hard choice. Sure, Ivan is a killer. But he is also very hot, and very good to Katy. it is much more of a blessing than a curse to be "his", and life for Katy get significantly better when Ivan is in her life. It can be tough to reconcile what he does for a living, but all things considered, it is pretty easy to like Ivan. Katy is also a character who is easy to care about. She tries hard and is good to those around her. She has experienced a lot of tragedy in her life and has not earned the trouble she finds herself stuck in.

This was a pretty quick read, and the steam level is high. I would read more by this author in the future.

I received this book when I purchased Sold to the Hitman. It's a standalone romance with a little bit of suspense.

Several months ago, Katy had a one night stand with Ivan, a hitman for the Russian Bratva. She never learned his name that night and had no idea what his job was.

Katy inherits the night club that was her dads before he was murdered. Unfortunately her dad had a great deal of debt and was forced to make monthly payments to the mafia. Katy is now expected to do the same. When she's unable to make her monthly payment, Ivan steps in and offers her a solution. He'll handle the debt she owes to the mafia if she'll agree to belong to him for a year. She's not happy about this offer but when faced with the alternative she realizes it's the best solution. Not to mention the chemistry between she and Ivan is hot.

I liked Ivan. He's a killer but he cares about Katy and shows her in so many small and sweet ways. I liked Katy's character okay. There's one point where someone tries to tell her a lie about Ivan and without even thinking she jumps to the wrong conclusion. I was a bit annoyed obviously and had a difficult time forgiving her rash behavior. But for those of us who like our happy endings, we're not disappointed.

The blurb provides a good general summary for the book. I thought this was going to be a dark romance, but it's not, at all! It's a Contemporary Mafia Romance. No BDSM, no sex slaves, nothing cryptic, dark or descriptively gruesome. The sex scenes are explicit and steamy, but fit just right with the course of the story & the adult relationship. My biggest gripe would be the overuse of the "c" word that crudely describes a woman's vagina. There are plenty of other euphemisms that fit better with the scenes. As is, I found it disruptive to the story & not out of context, but a harsher word than what most women in the moment would think to themselves about that area.
The story is told predominately from Katy's pov, with a few chapters from Ivan.
I appreciated ivan's character having a soft side even though his occupation with the mafia is a hitman. Very little of the story described his occupation in detail. You get a clear idea, but no nightmares. His relationship with Katy is described as a sex slave, but that's deceptive in the way this story is told. Katy does give-up some control in the bedroom, but every scene with Ivan is consensual. She's more a girlfriend, but the way they get together is more like a fake girlfriend status. It's a popular theme in Romance books, this one just happens to be with the Mafia instead of a billionaire, ceo, daddy or stepbrother. You get the idea.

This book earns 3.5 Stars from me, though the store doesn't show half stars.

Ever since Katy inherited the Amber Room from her father, it has been nothing but trouble, but the night Ivan enters the Club, her life changes inexplicably and so does his. Trying to keep her father’s dream alive is getting more and more arduous, and Katy finds the debts and protection money a continual struggle to find each month. When Katy finally cannot pay her dues to the Mafia, their actions, and what they have in mind for her, frighten her. It has been 3-months since Katy last saw Ivan, but in her moment of need, he comes and rescues her, only there are conditions, Ivan is a hitman; his life had been such that he didn’t have a choice, but during their time together Katy gets to know him better than anyone and knows she belongs to him completely; Ivan has loved Katy from the moment he saw her, but someone else in the Mafia has designs on Katy and will stop at nothing to take her away from Ivan. Framing Ivan for a murder he didn’t do, leaves Katy in a quandary and she doesn’t know where to turn. Ivan has evidence to prove his innocence, but will Katy listen to him and accept him for who he is? This was an intriguing story that I enjoyed reading and would have no hesitation in recommending it. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

I read "Sold to the Hitman" first, and have no idea how I missed "Owned by the Hitman." But trust me when I say that you do not want to miss this first book in the "Hitman" series. Fabulous read.

Katy is trying to keep the club her father left her open, but it getting harder to do when he left her a debt to the Russian Mafia who collect from her each month. Now the payment is due again and she has no idea how she is going to make it. The Russian’s want their money or they will take it from her in a way she doesn’t even want to think about. Little does Katy know that the one night stand she has will come to her rescue in the form of a “Russian Hitman.” But can she actually take the deal he is offering and not feel like a paid prostitute? The one night with him was wonderful, could it be so bad? Ivan is a hitman for the Mafia and he is good at what he does. He offers to keep the Mafia out of Katy’s hair if she agrees to be his for one year and he will support her. Taking his deal means she can put her money into the club and not have to pay the money to the Mafia. Will Katy take Ivan's deal? AWESOME BOOK!!!

Katy and Ivan are from two very different worlds. Katy is the owner of a nightclub and owes the mafia a debt that was her fathers. Her whole family is dead. Her mother and brother died in a car accident. Her father was murdered. The case was never solved. She is struggling to make her monthly payments. Running the club is all she can manage, she has no personal life. On a night when she is feeling really lonely a very handsome man comes into her club. There is something about him that she feels like doing something she has never done before. She has a one night affair with a total stranger without even knowing his name. Ivan is a hit man for the Russian mob. He has no family, his family was killed in almost the same way as Katy's. His father had taught him all the skills that he has. When he avenged his father's death, the mob recruited him. He was sent to America where he became the best at his craft.
Katy is in a very bad position, for the first time, she won't be able to make her payment on time. The person assigned to collect from her, has been waiting on just this moment. He has been looking for a way to make her his. He offers her the option of becoming his mistress , losing her club and possible being physically harmed. She is determined not to ever let him have her body. When she refuses, he starts to inflict her to a beating with two other mobsters. They don't realize that someone else has entered until this person orders them to stop. She is stunned when she realizes who he is, none other than her one night stand. He has subdued the first two men and handily takes care on the collector. After they are alone, he offers her his protection for one year in exchange for her being sexually available to him. She is shocked and has to think about it, after a day or so, she realize she has no othet options and she had to admit she really is attracted to him. This is the beginning of a year when her life changes in ways she could never imagine. Secrets will be revealed about how and who killed her father. She will learn more about the real Ivan and how he became a hitman. She will learn about herself as well. I received this ARC copy with the promise of a honest review. I couldnt put this book down. The danger, mystery and intrigue pulled me in. The author lets you see the human side of a hitman, how he balances his job and his humanity. Can they have a normal life? Can there be love? When the truth of her father's death is revealed, what will happen to these two. Will she lose her club? There is only one way to find the answer to these questions, you must read the book. The sex alone will almost melt your reader. This is a must read.

I received this as an honest review. Alexis Abbott did an amazing job. I have to say she did not make you wait to long before it got hot and steamy. The book will keep you one your seat from being to end.

I can not imagine how Katy felt. She had been in college living it up like most young girls her age when her father was murdered. Now here she is faced with trying to keep her father’s night club up and going and keep his debt collectors at bay. Her dad’s debt collectors were not like a bank or anything thing like that, no they were deadly. Her father owned the mafia. I can not imagine the anger and fear she must of felt. The guys that were assigned to make sure she pays every amount were 3 scum bags that hoped they could take collections another way. These guys make her skin crawl.

Ivan was this sexy handsome hitman. He checking out Katy. Katy had no idea who he was. Guess he wanted to sample the merchandise so to speak. Katy thought she was just having a one night stand. Now here Ivan was handing her a life line. He was trying to be like a light in the darkness now that she was faced with not being able to pay or is he?

Katy is still trying to figure out who murdered her father. She wants to see them brought to justice. She is anger with her father leaving her with this mess and robbing her of an education. There is so much to the story that Katy does not know.

Ivan owned Katy for a year. He is doing his best not to fall for her because he knows she is to good for him. If only she knew the truth of what he really does could she love him? I loved the nickname he gave Katy, mishka (perfect woman). It melted my heart every time he called her that. The thing I loved about Ivan was there was so many layers to him and so that you would not expect.

Ivan was her savor and her angel at least in her mind. He says he is very bad man. He owns her for a year but she can not help but have feelings for him. She needs to be careful and protect her heart. She is just suppose to be paying a debt. There are things she hears that sends her world a crashing. Can she survive this?

I hate Konrad. He is a creep and one that you want to reach in the book and punch in the face. Of course I hated Nic and Oskar as well but there were not as creepy as Konrad.

I am so glad I got the opportunity to read this book and look forward to future books by Alexis Abbott.

This has got to be one of my favorite books so far this year. This is the first I have read any of Alex Abbott's books and I am so glad I did. I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review..Solid 5 stars all the way..

Ivan Dragomirov is a ubiytsa, a hitman for the Russian Mafia. He keeps the scales balanced between right and wrong doings within it. He is someone you never want to meet face to face, cause by then you are already done for. He has had a rough past and wouldn't of choose this if things had been different, but he is the best at what he is. A Killer..

Katy Foss's life gets turned upside down when her father is murdered. She now is sole owner and operator of The Amber Room, her father's night club. Only it comes at a price, a protection price, from the mafia. Pay 4,000 a month or pay the price. She has made the payments the last 6 months but doesn't have it and the deadline is tomorrow. And she knows what that means.

Ivan arrives just in time to see the 3 goons giving the club owner Katy a shakedown. Konrad and his goons never get to lay another hand on her when he shows up with a gun aimed at their heads. These idiots are what cause the unbalance within the mafia and he is going to right it, one way or another. But first...

Katy is at witts end and don't know what to do, but she's more shocked to find out that the guy she slept with 3 months ago is standing here with a gun pointed at the goons who are here for payment. And then he offers her his protection, only one stipulation.."Be his woman for a year, a servant to his whims and desires" What!!

Will Katy give in and agree to his terms? Can she really do this? And what happens when she finds out Ivan killed her father, or so she thinks.

Come along for a great story of how the Mafia works, how what you think is true may not be. And what you will do when your world is turned upside down and sideways. Freaking Awesome..And the hot steamy sex scenes are ooh la la..

Recommended for mature readers.

Ivan and Katy. Just who are these two people and how do they relate to each other?? She is the new owner of a bar her father owned which was deeply indebted to the Russian Mob. Boy, they don't play. $4000. /month juice on his debt is no candy!! And these guys are very mean.
Katy, is a petite little thing, but very gutsy. She has managed to keep up for two years. The customers love her but the seven day workweek is killing her.
In walks sex on a stick Ivan. He offers her a way out of her situation. Tells her to think on it, he'll be back. I don't believe in spoilers, but I have to say, I was on the edge of my chair....Would he make it in time?? Could there be a happy solution?? What was going to happen?? O M G...I was a nervous breakdown about to happen.

When Katy’s father passed away, she was left with his nightclub, and since her father made a deal with the Mafia, she will be forced to make payments to them for their protection. Ivan, hitman for the Bratva, came to Katy’s club one day the sparks flew when they met for the first time. They had one scorching night together and never met each other again until three months later when he hears of rumors that the mafia is trying to collect from her club. When one of her payments is a little short, Ivan makes her an offer she can’t refuse, “Be my woman for a year, servant to my whims and desires. I will not hurt you, unless you want me to.” Will Katy be able to put aside her fear of Ivan and his Mafia lifestyle and agree to his terms? Katy runs a club that belonged to her deceased father. Unfortunately, her father owed large debts to the mafia, that are now Katy's responsibility. She is struggling to keeping the club running and paying the bills / debts that are coming due. Katy meets a tough looking Russian man, who offers her a deal. If Katy will be his and in his bed for a year, Ivan will take care of her and her problems.

Ivan is a Russian man, who meets Katy at her club. They have a wild one night stand. There are two sides to Ivan. He is a killer for mafia and has a sweet / sensitive side. He protects Katy, as well as all women and children. Ivan wishes that there could be two of him. There would be one that was a hitman, who did bad things. There would be one that was sweet and gentle with a woman, like Katy.

Ivan is definitely an alpha male and likes control in bed. Katy likes and needs to be in control, but enjoys giving up some power/control to Ivan (during sex). She is under a lot of stress. They have both loss family tragically and are alone. If the situation was different, Ivan would not have chosen his current life's path & occupation.

The author gives us enough insight and descriptions of the characters that you feel like you know and can relate to them. Ivan and Katy have great sexual chemistry. One of my favorite scenes is the New Years Eve scene. Yum. This story has romance, suspense, hot sex, and very sexy hitman.

I enjoyed this mafia romance story! It centers around a young woman who has to drop out of collage and take over her father's bar. When threatened by the mob that is supposed to be "protecting" he a strange hero steps in. And now a bit about the story...

Katy's one night stand has left her wanting more, but she can't worry about that know, the mob is coming and who knows what they will do when they figure out she can't pay. Just as the bad guys are about to pounce the one night stand, Ivan, appears on the scene. He offers her protection in exchange for ownership instead of money. Will this collar strangle her? And can she love a killer?

Favorite passages:
- So here I am with my dilemma. How does one politely tell a Russian mobster no?
- When his lips are in that hard, resolved line, he certainly looks the part of a hit man. But as soon as he smiles, he looks like Prince Charming. It’s a bizarre and intoxicating dichotomy, and I can’t help but want more.
- No matter how hard we try, evil can always strike behind a turned back.
- “Dark things happen when we are not looking, and you could not have stayed here forever just waiting for it. That is no life.”
- I look down at the sparkling gem nested on my collarbone and have to stifle an embarrassed smile at how badly it clashes with my too-casual red tank top. It’s sort of like putting a diamond tiara on a clump of dirt.

Ivan and Katy - the couple that isn't suppose to make sense but does. Ivan, the hot hitman, is a Russian mafia bad boy that actually has a soft sweet side to him. Katy is the strong independent young woman whose father was murdered and left a mafia indebted night club that she is now having to take over payments for. They meet one night at her club and spend the night together. Katy thinks it was a one time thing until he walks in and saves her from being beaten up by the slimy mafia henchman that are there to collect her payment. He gives her an ultimatum of being "his" for a year in exchange for his protection. Their year is full of sweet moments, hot sex, and suspenseful mafia action. This is a book that I fully enjoyed by one of my favorite authors!

Authors writing style: I have read several books by Alexis Abbott. I love her writing style. The stories are very detailed. You could picture the events happening and connect with the characters. Her stories give you the warm fuzzing feelings with happy endings. I would encourage anyone to read this story. It has a little bit of violence, what mob doesn’t, as well as a love story. This was a standalone full story with a HEA ending. (You will get your money’s worth from this story).
Overview: Ivan is a Russian mob hitman. After a bad night on the job he can only thing of two things, vodka and a woman. He hits up a club and meets the owner, a beautiful woman named Katy. Katy was given the dance club after her father was killed. The bad part is that Katy now has to pay her father’s debt with the Russian mob. But for one night, she decides to think about her needs and goes home with Ivan. She doesn’t know that he works for the mob until a few months pass and she can’t make her payment. Ivan offers her a deal. Be his for 1 year and she will be protected from the Russian mob. Katy doesn’t know if she could accept his deal until she is kind of forced into it by other mob players. But will Katy be able to hold on to her heart as she learns more about Ivan? Will Ivan want more out of life than being in the mob? Will the two survive the truths that are about to be revealed?

This was a great story! I really enjoyed reading and the characters. Katy is stuck in a bad situation that she is inherited from her father. She is in debt to the Russian Mafia and is stuck paying it from profits of the club. As things slow down at the club a little she can't make the payment and is in a bad situation because one of her debt collectors has a thing for her. She gets a unexpected offer from her one night stand that she has continually thought about from months ago. He's part of the Russian mob as well and says that he will take care of it if she agrees to be his for a year. He gives her a day to think about it. A lot of time is covered/passes in this story and I enjoyed that fact because everything regarding their relationship is more believable for me. Their relationship grows and we get to see that happen. It's not instantaneous love between the two of them but instead it sneaks up on them as they get to know each other. I loved getting to see that happen and getting to know Ivan and Katy the same way. Ivan is very sweet with Katy and gets to show another side of himself. The story has great pacing, it's not too fast and not too slow. It keeps you engaged the entire time. It's very smooth and flows really well. The sex is explicit and often but not overly so. Ivan is very much in charge in the bedroom but that is how Katy likes it. I loved the other characters that we get to know as well. They are all very complete and engaging.

Anyone that knows me knows I love books with Mafia/mob ties. There's just something about them that pulls me in and this book was no different.

We meet our h Katy who's father was murdered and she ended up inheriting his business. Unfortunately along with his club, she inherits his debts with the Mafia. One night while needing a break from the reality of her life she meets a man, has an amazing one night stand and goes back to her life. Months later she is struggling to make her debt payments and the collectors are putting some serious pressure on her. Enter our H, again.

Ivan, our H, is a hitman for the Mafia. This isn't the life he would chose for his self but one he was forced into. He is cold and calculating. When he sees how hard things are for Katy, he offers her a proposition. Be his for a year and have his protection and her debt erased. He says he will give her some time to think about it. When the collectors come back, Katy must make a decision.

I finished this book in one sitting. Katy wasn't a weak h, which I loved. Ivan was a hitman and even being a "bad guy" he had a soft side and a fierce protectiveness towards Katy. I loved him. I really enjoyed this book. My only complaint is I wish we had more from Ivan's POV. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

The story line and characters are well developed. I could not wait to see how Ivan and Katy's story would play out!

This is the first book I have read from this author, I am looking forward to reading a second one!
