I thought this book was closer to how people would behave during a end of the world situation. Some of the books I have read are a little far fetched but I think this one was realistic. The writing kept a good pace and overall enjoyable.

Thank you for a wonderful book, that is realistic while moving the plot along. All the characters are believable and engrossing. I'm on to the second book already. Can't wait to see what happens next.

It was an okay read but I kept expecting something really exciting to happen or some twist. It was kind of predictable to me. Took me longer than normal to read because it moved kind of slow as it seemed not enough happened in the year the book covered.

Interesting characters, well developed and believable. Only objection I have is that it requires more than one book to complete the story. In my opinion, that is much too common in today's stories. It ends up costing as much as a new hardback book in the stores. One of the reasons I came to Kindle is because of the lower price per book and because I can enlarge the type to help my failing eyesight. I have been an a aid reader all my life, usually reading a book a day, so you can imagine how much I spend on books, almost $100 a month! I want more stories, less greed!

I gave four stars because the author left me hanging at the end of the book with a fight to be determined. I don't like to be left hanging. Even though the book is part of a series, each part must stand alone on its own merit. My interest in the next part of the series will not be diminished because of this, but the end leaves much to be thought of. Like, say a man falls off a cliff - does he fall 5 feet or 500 feet? What are his last thoughts? Why did he fall? Did he bounce at the bottom?
Otherwise, a very good end of society story where the last to be left living struggle to survive. I hope the young girl gets the guy she loves!
