This is a well written book. I actually listened to it via the Audible app, but bought the kindle addition as a reference resource. The book is full of interesting information that is well researched by the author and substantiated by his experience. Highly suggested!

Since The Coconut Oil Miracle I've been using coconut oil to replace most of the butter and all of the shortening I use in cooking. I also use it instead of creams on my face. Anything that's pure enough to eat is a better choice than products with preservatives and ingredients that can't be pronounced. It's also an amazing item to keep on the night stand.

I followed some of the suggestions! It really works with the cold/ flu virus. I did what it recommend and i felt better in 3 days after doing what it recommenced! Normally when i am sick it last 2 weeks!! This time from symptoms, to feeling 90% in only 6 days.

Definitely worth reading .... there are so many uses for coconut oil ... Bruce Fife has a number of these books out ... this one covers a lot of different areas of use ... how and why it works etc... It also has some interesting recipes

What an absolutely amazingly informative resource! Bruce Fife, C.N., N.D. has truly done an outstanding job of bringing science, statistics and evidence into an easily understandable and incredibly easy to read book. He explains quite simply the break down of coconut oil and how the Medium Chained Fatty Acids (MCFA's) contained in coconuts reacts in our bodies. He sites examples of extraordinary healing with the use of coconut. He explains the reasons why coconut oil has gotten such a bad rap and why it needs to be used in our daily diet. He also has 50 recipes to try. I not only read this book, I tried many of the recipes and use the coconut on my skin for a natural, healthy glow. At night, before bed I put the coconut oil on my feet and arms and then rub the rest in my hair for strong and healthy hair. My husband cut his legs up stacking wood a few months back and they hadn't healed very well. He used coconut oil for 4 days and GONE were the marks! I recommend this book to everyone I know. I've purchased many copies to give as gifts and purchase coconut oil in bulk and replaced my massage cream with coconut oil to benefit my clients. Try the oil...it works miracles!

This has so much information. I have been using extra virgin coconut oil on my skin and hair for over a year, but I'm gonna start taking a few tablespoons of it internally now as well. The author Bruce Fife is the president of the Coconut Research Center, which educates the public about the benefits of coconut oil. He is so knowledgeable, I thought this was gonna be a small book but its 178 pages and then there is even recipes with coconut!! I definitely recommend if you are new to the wonderful world of coconut oil :)

Actually purchaed the book with two jars of the coconut oil. Since I had previously read that using the oil with cooking and also, in the place of lotion, and for oiling, I wanted to be well informed about the product. This book is an easy read, and enjoyed it.

I got it to write a gargantuoid research paper, and thank God, I made an excellent choice with this book. I'm finding a substantial amount of good and interesting information with an exhaustive list of references and resources listed at the back- most of which are respected medical journal articles.
If you are uncertain about coconut oil, this will help you understand how it is so healthy in so many ways despite its high saturated fat content. I personally never gain weight by eating coconut oil, and I don't have a particularly fast metabolism thanks to genetics, but coconut oil (because of the MCFAs, which are directed into the liver and converted to energy right away) boosts the metabolism quite significantly... you can really feel the difference. If you do an oil change by replacing other fats with coconut oil while maintaining a constant intake of calories, you will lose weight. Also, I'm extremely sensitive to everything that affects my body, and I can say with 100% certainty unprocessed coconut is a good, healing and energizing food. Bruce Fife lays out the reasons why this is by using his talent of summing up and explaining painfully dull research articles in a clear, easy-to-read, and enjoyable manner. Cover-to-cover, it's a good book, and I'd definitely recommend it.

I stumbled upon the many wonderous uses and healings of Coconut oil by accident about a month ago and I have to say that it is opening my eyes to how misled we have been by the media and people who are in charge of educating us in healthy lifestyle matters. I found the book to be informative and is easy to read. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to improve their health internally and externally.

Get this book!!!!! You cannot imagine how many things extra-virgin coconut oil does for your body. Not mentioned in this book, however, is that it's also good for pets! The great information provided in this book is endless!

So much information it is almost information overload....ALMOST! How can I complain about reading all the positive effects of coconut oil? After reading through the book I have already begun to add coconut oil to my coffee, hot chocolate and I cooked scramble eggs with coconut oil this morning. The author suggests 2-4 tablespoons a day.....easy to do! I've always known that the oils we use are slow killers but this book just smacks you in the face with the information!
I just received the book 2 days ago and have been flipping through it and already learned so much. I plan on reading it cover to cover as soon as I get a chance!

While always a fan of coconut oil and anything else coconut, this book really explains in detail why coconut is different than any other oil/fat both from a chemical standpoint as well as a historic one when Fife examines various cultures that have used coconut oil as their primary fat source without any of the health problems our society continues to face the longer we consume highly processed vegetable oils.

Between this book, and "Eat Fat, Lose Fat", I learned everything I ever wanted to know about coconut oil, but was afraid to ask. (haha).
Seriously, I have to recommend this book with the highest of FIVE stars. It is pretty easy to google coconut oil and read about all the health benefits, or find numerous websites for free excellent recipes - but you need to read this book for the wonderful health/diet information that goes above and beyond coconut oil. I learned so much from reading it - I had already been using coconut oil for a couple weeks when I bought the book, so I was already convinced about its health benefits. What impressed me was all the extra/medical/diet/nutrition information that makes up the whole package of healthy living. I have read and re-read this book, and have now loaned my copy to my in-laws. I will probably buy a few more copies to give to the people I care about. I have used the information to make so many changes in my diet that are already making a difference. I can't wait to go back for blood work and see how all my levels look. (How often does one say THAT?!?) Hope this helps convince you to give it a read!
4/27/12 - I guess I will never write a short review, but..........After posting this, I went back and read the negative reviews about coconut oil and this book. I want to put in another line or two (will probably be ten or twelve) from my personal experience. Last year I went through cancer, so I am really on a mission to provide the best and most natural approach to health and wellness for myself and my family. I found out about coconut oil when I saw a video on how a woman gave her husband coconut oil in his oatmeal and it improved his Alzheimers. It has only been a couple months now that I have used coconut oil and organic butter exclusively for cooking, baking, anything with heat. It was worth the price of admission all on its own to learn that canola was so bad for you and that olive oil was not a good choice to heat with. Within a few weeks of using the oil, my routine thyroid blood levels were drawn, and for the first time in 12 years, my Synthroid medication needed to be lowered from 150mcg to 112 mcg. Sorry, but there is absolutely nothing in 12 years that has ever brought my levels down, and now I am hoping to see if they will be lower on the next test, with the hope that I could get off the drug. I dropped a weight on my big toe last summer and it got infected and started looking like it was developing that gross condition that requires lamisil. (eww...that is only for old men with claw-feet, right!!! Not ME!?!?!) I have been rubbing coconut oil it on and under the edge of my toenail and the yellow discoloration has stopped spreading and has even begun receding. My heels are perfectly smooth, whereas over the winter the skin was dry and cracked so deeply I wondered of it would ever get back to normal. After using the buffer in the shower, I rub my heels and all my skin with coconut oil and in a matter of weeks, I could go for a pedicure and not be mortified! My husband has also been taking it, and he used to have the most awful dry patches on his elbows. I noticed the other day that they were perfectly smooth so I asked if he had been putting oil on them, and he said no. (So it must have come from internally digesting the oil. He's not the kind to to anything "cosmetic" to enhance his natural beauty!) :-) Thanks to tips on other reviews, I started putting the oil on my upper ams, where I have always had these little white bumps - a long time ago I had a prescription cream for this which did nothing. Those bumps are gone, and also the dry patches on my bum, probably from wearing rough jeans? But now the skin is soft and smooth as a baby's bum. My appetite is satisfied with less food, I am doing fine reducing carbs without the usual sweet-cravings, lost 10 pounds in the first month or two, from my belly, and am still gaining muscle from working out. I made a big batch of the coconut oil chocolate truffle candy and ate a ton of it, and I didn't gain a pound. (lucky, I think, I don't do this on a regular basis!) My dad's blood sugar has gone down (he has a diabetic friend who let him use her tester - he was just curious after a couple of weeks of using the oil, so she did her test on him. She uses coconut oil with great results in stabilizing her blood sugar). My kids are less sugar-addicted because I sneak it into all their food, and I can tell their sweet/junk cravings are very much reduced. I make them breakfast every morning now, instead of letting them eat the CRAP at school ('scuse my French) and I make sure they get the oil incorporated into whatever it is I make them, plus a dose of lemon cod-liver oil. The change in them has truly been noticeable. My little sun-spots on my face are fading because I only use this oil on my face anymore and very little makeup. My chemo-fog was so bad last year, I only wish I had known about coconut oil then. I will post back again when I get more blood labs drawn, because that speaks for itself! I mean seriously - use the oil! Even if only in place of the other stuff you use normally, it will make a big difference. If you read the labels on anything, you'll be surprised how much BAD fat is in there, and no one questions eating that!! Best of health to you!

Now I know why heart disease is the number killer of people in the United States! This book makes complete sense of how bad canola and vegetable oils are for our bodies! Some of the scientific stuff I did just skim over, too much info for me, but the rest of the book gave me a lot of interesting information about using and eating coconut oil. I cook with it now, add to my coffee, and use on my skin. I am already looking and feeling better since reading this book and using virgin coconut oil.
