This book has REALLY good advice and recipes for those looking to bulk up or lean out! I'm getting my "pre-kiddo" body back the healthy way!! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good change in their life!

Nutrition and working out has always been a challenge. This book does an excellent job of summarizing nutritional information/science as it applies to working out. As with many things, there's a plethora of information about working out and nutrition. From my own experience, it has been difficult to find information that takes into account time as well as examples of implementing the information in a way that can meet many types of schedules. This book does all of that, from quickly providing a formula to calculate a nutrition plan based on goal, an easy-to-use spreadsheet and recipes that don't require gourmet skills or huge budgets. An excellent job by Mr. Matthews in making the information accessible and easy to use.

I usually don't like cookbooks but I purchased Michaels thinner leaner stronger book and absolutely loved it. Love this cookbook just like his fitness book! He explains everything in a way that will help you understand fitness.

Upon opening the book, the recipes look delicious and very healthy and easy to make. I haven't made any yet because I'm trying to plan out my meals to bulk up. But I'm also trying to come up with a meal plan for my dad who is trying to lose weight which makes it hard to find meals that we can make together and eat to save money. What really would have made it easier and I mean WAY easier is if Mike included the glycemic index and loads for all the foods. In fact, the reason I'm writing this review is because I thought not having the glycemic index's and loads was a big setback. I have to look up everything on my own. But it IS a really great cook book other than that.

It’s an easy to follow cookbook filled with knowledge and recipes anyone can prepare for the family including picky eaters, kids included. Love to cook, this is your book. Hate cooking, not for you. Prep times are accurate but you should know what to buy to make it work for you.

After reading “Bigger Leaner Stronger: The Simple Science of Building the Ultimate Male” I learned that When you train, the food you consume is really important to achieve your established goal.
I am not the kitchens best friend in fact, up to date I think it hates me and the sentiment is mutual.
But I learned that if I wanted to be serious about my training I had to be serious about my diet and my cocking. That’s why I bought this book; I thought it would be the perfect start for me….. and it was.

I picked up the Kindle version not expecting much. I listen to Mike's podcast but figured this was just another cookbook. I was wrong. The cookbook is legit. The recipes are easy to follow and simple to make. There aren't a ton of ingredients in the recipes so you won't have to buy one spice you'll never use again. Because the recipes are simple, the macros are easily tracked if you're dieting. I was looking for new, healthy recipes to fit into my weekly routine and this book fits the bill.

Mike lays everything out in such a transparent, simplistic manner. I read this book in just over 24 hours (given that I skimmed through the recipes). I love his approach to changing your lifestyle and upping your protein intake. I couldn't recommend this book more to anyone (guy or girl) who is interested in transforming their body and embellishing their overall lifestyle. 5 stars!

So many great, easy, delicious recipes in this book! There were a few I was a bit skeptical about at first...but turned out to be some of my favorites! I appreciate how the meals are separated by what your goals are (i.e. gaining or cutting). This has been so helpful for meal planning. All macronutrient information provided for each recipe. Thank you!

The recipes are simple. Most of the ingredients you'll have on hand or can pick-up at any grocery store. The book is organized into sections; Breakfast, Chicken, Pasta, Dessert, etc. and subsections of recipes for bulking or cutting. I found this very useful. Each recipe includes calories and macros (Protein, Carbs, Fats) for each serving. Although I did find the serving info a bit confusing at first. I just wasn't sure if the calories and macros listed were for 1 serving or the entire recipe. It appears to be for one serving. As long as it is consistent. Hey, I thought there wouldn't be any math :-)
Mike's Recipe of the Week on his website muscleforlife.com lead me to buy the recipe book. Especially, the sweet potato pancakes - my favorite bfast cheat meal. And it's not really cheating, well, maybe the maple syrup. I've only had book for a few days, but have tried the Zucchini Fritta, egg white bites and the sweet potato pancakes, which I have made the past three weekends. So, I've got 117 recipes to try. I also like some of the tips or recipes for making your own salad dressing or marinades.
Hera a few suggestions future editions:
- More recipes for protein bars, shakes & snacks. I'm a fan of Quest bars and would like to make something similar.
- More pictures. The pictures are great, they really help us novices know what it's "supposed" to look like.
- Spiral bound - so it will lay flat in the kitchen without breaking the spine.
- Community - a place for like minded individuals to share their favorite recipes, modifications, questions, etc. I've got a protein shake with spinach and peanut butter that is my fav, that I'd be happy to share. Mike could take the best and add them to the next volume.
Thanks for putting this together, I know it must have taken countless hours. This is an excellent companion to Bigger, Leaner, Stronger or Thinner, Leaner, Stronger - especially if you are tired of eating plain chicken or tuna. This book will help you spice up your meals and make living the lifestyle more enjoyable.

I recently purchased "Bigger, Leaner, Stronger" by the same author and after reading that book I realised the importance of being able to plan meals and having a good arsenal of nutritious and muscle-building recipes on hand. This book serves as an excellent addition to BLS, and is great as a stand alone cookbook as well. Most of the recipes are easy to make, often they are separated according to your goals of either getting lean or bulking up which is very handy. I will certainly be referring to this cookbook frequently as I continue to lift and build the body that I want. I will also write a review of "Bigger, Leaner, Stronger" after I have followed the program for a while as it is still a bit too early to comment on its effectiveness.

This was actually the first cookbook I actually spent money on- normally I just get recipes from random places online, or the websites of popular cookbooks. But after reading the reviews and doing some further research on the author, I took the plunge, and it's been really useful. We've made ~25 of the recipes so far. They're super easy to vary or add your own twists too, and you honestly can't beat the macros.

Excellent cookbook! Easy, healthy recipes. I've only had it for a few weeks and I've already made several of them. They have all been delicious!! I'm excited to try more and have a couple on the menu for this week. :)

I decided to pick this book up after beginning the Bigger Leaner Stronger program, and it has helped me shed fat like no tomorrow. Using the nutritional guidelines established in BLS, I quickly established a dietary plan that I follow every day from recipes in this book. They taste great, are easy to prepare, and easy to shop for. Recommend this to anyone that wants to know exactly what they are eating.

I give this book, along with anything else written by Mike Mathews, 5 stars and truly deserves nothing less. Mike Mathews is revolutionizing the fitness/health industry with no BS and with the right research. He is truly an inspiration and this book does not disappoint. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in getting lean, more muscular, or just trying to be healthy because these recipes are easy to prepare, fairly cheap, and provide healthy ways to get your micro-nutrients with really tasty foods! Mike keep up the great work because you have changed my life and have inspired me to become more fit and eat much more healthier. If anyone wants to see a truly inspirational story... check out Mike Mathews website at muscleforlife.com!

I like this author. He creates nice recipes, although I usually tweak some of them. It would be nice to have a consistent serving size throughout the book, but otherwise, really great recipes, and good advice!

Paired with Bigger, Leaner, Stronger and love the results. The recipes aren't overly complicated, and the ones I have made taste amazing. A bonus is the nutritional information he provides in the beginning of the book before the recipes.

Mike Matthews does it again, Excellent recipes in a well put together, quality book.
Even if you are not following one of Mike's awesome workout programs (I'm doing Bigger Leaner Stronger) this book is full of great recipes for every meal. The recipes are generally simple, straightforward, and described perfectly. I hate recipe books that require 40 ingredients, and 2 hours of your time, 99% of people will not cook those meals.
Not only can you cook great meals for you and your family, all the meals in this book are healthy, and many are very high protein. I cannot recommend this book, along with Bigger Leaner Stronger more, Mike Matthews knows what he is talking about, and is great at conveying his message in these books!

I liked that Mike was open with all the scientific information and studies that he used to form his opinions and advice with. The Shredded Chef was very easy to understand and using it's methods allowed me to break a 2 month stagnation in my weight loss goals.

I love hitting the gym, and being on various work-out programs. Like many people, I find the hardest part of my programs are the nutrition aspects. Until this little gem came along and changed that. The recipes are easy, fast, and inexpensive. I had $10 in the Honey-glazed chicken recipe and about 30 minutes in cooking it. Not bad at all, especially for a guy like me who's used to the microwave variety of cooking. Oh, and even with my minute level of cooking savvy, the meal tasted great!
