Nice, sweet story, albeit a little 'wordy' in some places which didn't add much to the story. I found the characters gentle and interesting for the most part, and actually thought the love story was going to be between the pastor and someone other than who it turned out to be. The small town/small church setting seemed charming, a place I would love to live in...or at least visit! Too bad it's only in the author's imagination. The epilogue, which tied up some of the loose ends, jumped too far ahead, however.... just my opinion. I would rather have had some more information along the way. I realize there is more to come in the next book (s) of the series, though. I enjoyed the book and will probably read others by this author in the future.

I very much enjoyed this book. If you like stories about the South and it’s charm along with a religious connection, then you will enjoy it. It was a little confusing at the beginning as the author is introducing all the characters. It would have been smoother reading to have kept to the story line and introduced the characters when they were needed. I also didn’t like when the tense of writing changed toward the end. But that is just something a new author will learn with additional books. I will read more of this series. I do wish more authors would stick to the old King James Scriptures though.

This story was wonderful! I loved the characters--Rev Rock, Liz, Reva, Betty, and all the others. Even minor characters are well described so everyone stands out as a unique individual. The plot of the story is compelling with Holly needing to find a family for Abby and Abby' s parentage discovered through a song. I particularly enjoyed the Scripture verses at beginning of each chapter and Rev Rock's guidance through prayer. Warning though: it was a bit of a tearjerker at the end.

Too depressing...young mother with debilitating illness and beautiful little girl not what I was looking for in Southern romance. Very, very wordy about house and building descriptions! Hate the use of possessives when author using elaborate adjectives but cannot get plural possessives correct. I am hoping it was typographical error. Thankfully,I did not buy the set just used kindle unlimited. Willl not continue and return entire set; wanted so badly to like a Southern series being a native.

If you have ever experience southern hospitality or lived in the south and have since moved away, this story will take you back to those southern shores where knowing your neighbor is still in fashion. A fun delightful story that is a must to add to your summer reading list. Loved it !

New author to me. Was suggested because of previous books I have read. This series is about a small town of caring people with strong Christian values. Glenda Manus is a very good story teller. She gets the reader involved with the characters and keeps the pages turning to see what happens next.

I liked the characters very much, the story line is great and you will fall in love with Rock, Liz, Holly, Abby and a host of others. Following an accident, Holly is hospitalized, and no one knows how to get in touch with her next of kin. Rev Rock gets involved with other people from his church, and it goes on from there. A good read.

This book started out so well. I really enjoyed the way she introduced us to the characters, it made you feel like you knew them. Character development was what made me stick with it. The first two thirds was thoughtful and well written if a little too wordy (historical facts that didn't have any impact on the story, for example) I was looking forward to the relationship between the main characters to develop, the story of Holly to come together the crime to be solved but it didn't happen. It was all stuffed into a prologue. Very very anticlimactic. It felt like the author spent six months on the first two thirds and two weeks on the rest of it. I would read another novel by this author before giving up on her work.

Very Disappointed! The plot was boring and uninspired, I was hoping for lovable characters but they were bland and nothing about them inspired my interest or caring. It seemed like the author tried to copy the "small town, great characters" type charm found in Jan Karon's Mitford Series, but failed miserably. Cardboard cut-out characters and plot. I was very let down.

This book was a lovely if easy read. The pleasure to be found in this book comes from the quaint day to day life of a small town and the beatuy of the relationships within it. These themes, woven with romance, faith, and family are the strengths here, and where, in my opinion, the author should have remained focused. There is no flowery or poetic prose to wade through and there are no hidden depths here, but the style is simple, straightforward, and sweet. The added murder plot seemed a bit underdeveloped and unnecessary. Although it holds no real surprises and any mystery is easilly deduced, it doesn't take away from the enjoyment of this feel good story.

Very nice, enjoyable book. I greatly enjoy clean books like this, and search diligently to find this type of book.
PLEASE ignore the previous post that I made, as I confused two books because of the similar titles and author's names.

This book captured me from the beginning. I am so enjoying all types of Christian literature offered through the reader services. Add to that the nine months I spent in college in South Carolina many, many years ago and I had a wonderful reading experience.

There were SO many grammatical errors! It's hard to understand how a writer could be so lacking in basic English, and the mistakes not caught by an editor. Disappointing, since the story was nice and the characters quite lovable. Loved the cover...

I would recommend this story to Jan Karon readers. I loved the story line . Sometimes there is a little too much description. I wanted to hurry into the plot. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Easily read. Story of a unmarried preacher and his life in a small southern town.
Story tells how busy a preacher is as he goes about his life.
Book shows how life is in a small southern town.

Nice, easy read. I read this book because I live in the area where this author lives and where the story is supposed to take place. It was a quick read and offered a nice portrayal of how life may be here for those who have lived here for a long time. It is similar to reading a book by Jan Karon but not quite as captivating.

Refreshing. Well written. One of the best books I have read in a while. When it ended I felt satisfied, like having just had a really good home cooked meal with cherished friends. Highly recommend it. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

If you like books filled with a ton silly, immature women who are all at some level in love with their minister while none seem to have much of a life of their own beyond rescuing others, then this book is for you. Though it's about a bunch of Presbyterians, I doubt most Presbyterians would want something this idealistic and preachy. Besides that it was way too predictable. Makes me want to gag.

A real pleasure to read. The characters and story line kept me interested. The antagonist was a bit one dimensional, but that did not detract from my enjoyment. I will purchase the next in the series.

This book was the perfect amount of drama mixed with a lot of love with Christian and biblical roots. This book reminds me about the love of Christ and it also reminds me of the human nature we all have. I enjoyed every moment of this book!!!

Not a book for secular Yankees like myself. Many novels have religious figures as protagonists but this one also includes a bible passage at the beginning of every chapter, frequent scriptual references and prayer breaks during most chapters. The characters are shallow, superficial and not well developed. I was glad that I borrowed it for free and didn't pay for it. Next time, I'll read the reviews instead of looking at the number of stars.

A wonderful well written story about Southern ways and the close knit families that live in the small towns. Not jaded and very refreshing. Enough twist and turns to keep you turning the pages. Glenda Manus is magical.

Loved the simplicity of life in a small town. Connections somewhat predictable, but it is nice to read a story where God is the center of the characters lives. It gives the reader encouragement for leading a Christian life in a fallen world. Wish there had been more story line with text amazing faith of a little girl. At the end I would have enjoyed a picture of relationships binding, if not in detail just a memory of the day when major events like a wedding took place.
