There were moments when the book did drag a little for me but for the most part I just fell in love with the family and their friends in the book and followed them through the years as life changed for each one.

I believe this is my favorite Fannie Flagg book. They are all great, but after
reading this one you feel you know the town and people personally. She has
captured a time and place that once was real. It is great to escape back in time
and remember how wonderful it was.

How can anything from the lady that gave us "Fried Green Tomatos" not be good? Miss Flagg captures growing up in small town America so perfectly I'm almost ashamed to call myself an author now.

A wonderful read that is sure to please! Don't pass it by. JKD

Once again I have read an excellent book by Fannie Flagg. This story carries you through the unusual lives of several small town families, proving once again, oddities and specialities are found everywhere and good people are there to help. The unique townfolks that Fannie created are real to me and I would love to see this craziness and Bobby in my town.

An absolutely beautiful book. It will make you happy and cry. Fanny Flagg brings back an America that we need to try and restore with honesty, virtue and freedom. A great book that I recommend highly.

The story is read entertainingly by the author Fannie Flagg. If you enjoy listening to the details of everyday small town life in the past generation, this is enjoyable. However, I did not find depth of meaning or character development.

A thoroughly enjoyable read! Great characters woven throughout a wonderful look back at life in middle America during the 40's and up into the 80's. This is a heartwarming story filled with humor and some very touching moments. There are plenty of plot surprises that keep you guessing and wondering. As an author, Fannie Flagg is at the top of my list!

Fannie Flagg is funny of course, but what a story teller! I would recommend any of her books. This series of stories about Aunt Dorothy, family and friends is a great read or listen as I love her audio books.

I enjoyed learning what everyday life was before tv. I was born in 1959, but can relate to many events from my childhood with Bobby. Growing up in a small community where everyone knows your name was a good thing. I grew up in a small town in Ohio. I have also moved to Florida.in my opinion, it is the best place in the world to live your seasoned years.

The story, includes all recognizable emotions provoked by the author for the reader to enjoy. It could be that being born in the 50's myself, relating to conditions and happenings of the era are easy to understand and enjoy an out loud laugh.

My review of this book is somewhat better, as this has a narrative about other characters and their lives, giving another aspect to the then, northern life of...religion and all that that type of lifestyle and thinking, entailed. As the book develops, the main character is a homemaker radio host and her mother, with her own show. It's narrative runs from the consistency of expected routine life to unique and comical situations of a small town, their comfortable simple expectations, (in lieu of the coming technological future), importance of town loyalty, relationships-closeness and trust, especially family and values, calamities, solutions, and death, as expressed from this 1 radio station in a small town.

Nostalgic look into small town life in Missouri from 1946 to present. Gentle story with real life's ups and downs. Characters are well portrayed and memorable. Fannie Flag's humor sprinkled throughout. Loved it.

Wonderful story - made you feel you were right there with the characters. The point you come away with is "always live in the moment." Fannie Flagg is such a wonderful, insightful author. After this book, I ordered every book she had written and read them all. They were ALL great, but this one is right up there with "Fried Green Tomatoes. ."

Fanny Flagg once again has written an excellent story . It is humorous, true to life and also this book gives a very good lesson in American History. This book amused me and I learned a little more about the sacrifices of American women during world war 11.

Fabulous book of a trilogy - Standing in the Rainbow, Welcome to the World Baby Girl and Can't Wait to Get to Heaven. Loved the characters in these books and Fannie's Flaggs development of each. Have read all three at least four times.

I received the CD in time. However, when I listened to it, several of the disks were badly damaged and you cannot listen to several of the tracks. On the first disk, you cannot listen to 3-4 of the tracks. Very disappointing.
I understand that the library CD's are heavily used, but I don't think that a CD should be advertised as in good or excellent condition when that is not the case.
The reason I bought this CD was because I had listened to a library copy and enjoyed it so much that I wanted to own it. Now, however, I may have to go out and buy another one since this one was so badly damaged.
