An account of the characteristics of past fascists, rhymes with what is in the world today. M Albright’s background gives her great insight to the dangers of Fascism. The signs of Fascism. How it infiltrates a free democracy.

This is a fascinating and very readable account of the development of fascism throughout the world, and the threat it poses in the United States today, by one of the most brilliant, knowledgable, and experienced America diplomats. Instead of just responding to sound bites and talking heads, read this.

This is an important book written by an experienced leader of our country. A Professor herself, the book engages and teaches. Historical and current. It documents how Facism can so benignly get started and blot out our Liberty. It is a warning to those complacent souls who do not see the forces at work undermining the Great American Experiment..
The Decline and Fall of the Japanese Empire - 1936-1945 (Modern Library War) :: Prince of Fire (Gabriel Allon) :: Wings of Fire Book Two: The Lost Heir :: The Lost Heir (The Gryphon Chronicles, Book 1) :: Inside the Third Reich

A fabulous and succinct history of fascism and how strong men come to power. Would that Ms. Albright were getting the media attention for this well written book that, say, James Comey has gotten for "A Higher Loyalty," or that Michael Wolff received for "Fire and Fury."

Albright' s history lesson and it's eery current relevance must be read by democrats, republicans and independents. You must learn from history what is a fascist to avoid a repeat of the atrocities of the world's darkest political leaders and the one in your backyard - our president.

Madeleine warns, using the words of Levi - "Every age has its own fascism."

The first 100 pages go into the pre WW ll history of fascism - necessary reading for those born after the early 1960s. The balance of the book is a stern warning that we are seeing the return of Fascism in Russia, Hungary, Poland, Turkey and many, many more nations. She warns that Congress must do its oversight, but currently is not.

This book is a must read for those wishing to preserve democracy.

Hopefully in our age of instant information we all learn to question what we hear or read and confirm which are facts and which are half truths or just lies. This is her warning to those who enjoy living in a democracy, even a slightly flawed one, and want it to endure.

This book by Madeline Albright is so well written. She chronicles the history and rise of the dictatorships of the 20th century and World War II. The similarities between Mussolini (the first to say “Drain the Swamp”), Hitler and Trump are frightening! Everyone in this country should read this book and educate and enlighten themselves.

Excellent history lesson on fascism--the common themes, versions, early stages of development, etc. Of course, seeing the groundwork being put in place now is worrisome. An unsettling but important read. Well researched and well written.

This is a marvelous historical survey of how Fascism comes into being. Interesting, thoughtful and very well written. This book should be required reading in High Schools as part of an education in what used to be called "civics" but apparently is no longer taught, much to the detriment of the country.

Want to understand what's happening in today's politics, especially the Trump "following"? You will get these answers but they will not be to your liking. The problem is that the enemy within is largely us, or the non voters, or the non believers in facts, and so on. I especially enjoyed the history lessons coupled with her expert opinion. You won't be disappointed.

This is a fascinating and well written book that explores the origins of fascism. It also speaks to some of the issues that we need to be sensitive to insofar as conditions may be ripe for a return to fascism. Great read!

More than met what I expected. A very factual read presented well and uncomplicated. It leaves you to form your own opinions. You clearly recognize the parallelisms of today’s political climate. I recommend this book.

An excellent book that describes fascist leaders through recent history and from different countries around the world. Fascist leaders all have similar characteristics regardless of where they live or have lived. Important information for living in our current world.

Albright is one of the most respected politicians of our times. And for her to be a survivor of one the most powerful events that forever changed our society and tell us about it, definitely it is worthwhile to learn from her and listen to her voice in this work. Thank

Powerful message, scary, but a necessary read for those who love America, FASCISM is timely. Of course, anything written by Madeleine Albright is well worth reading. I've passed this book along to my son.

Secretary Albright provides a well written and thoughtful wake-up call to Americans. She warns of the dangers in seeking simple solutions to complex problems but most of all calls us to engage with our democracy and seek the common good,

Brilliant, well thought out. Our country is in serious trouble and understanding the forces that are at play, and understanding how fascism comes into being is important if we want to recognize it in our own back yard.

Secretary Albright hits the nail on the head. Her writing is straight forward and easily understood. Read it and learn how the world works at the political level and what it means to us the consumer.

Well done. Thoughtful, provoking and terrifying. Her background and experience supports her viewpoint in a way that many others are unable to obtain. This is truly a warning for the American people tha should not be taken lightly.

The book was very historical and drew a parallel to what's happening today in many countries with the radical change in leadership and the conditions conducive to the advancement of radical parties and leaders. The book also shows how these conditions have caused problems before and countries have been able to recover, however, usually takes painful adjustments to get back to normal.

This is an excellent book, and its publication couldn't be more timely. Unfortunately, I have no doubt the people who need to read this book the most -- the same people who so readily disparage our free press -- will dismiss the author's warnings as "fake news." It is an undeniable fact that this country is sliding toward fascism, and the question that remains is: what are we going to do about it?

For both those with long memories of History and those with short to none, the book educates and sounds important alarms. The research is excellent, and the author is shrewd in drawing comparisons of then versus now.

Just as expected Secretary Albright takes you through numerous examples at how leaders skillfully craft a new normal in the eyes of the , man my way for acceptance of fascism. Yes, some parts are long and a little dry, but push through. You will be wiser and glad you did.

We sit back while our world changes - one feather at a time. Thank you Madeleine Albright for making me pay attention. I think I'll move to New Zealand. Just kidding. I'm too old. They won't let me move in.

Insightful and sobering review of fascists and fascist behaviors in leaders past and present. A special feature is not only a focus on the personality of the leaders, but also the factors that would cause a nation to openly welcome a leader using fascist tactics.

The historical perspective of the conditions in which fascism is able to incubate and grow into a movement pairs with a personal tale of experience with the very real impact that such socio-political movements can have on every day life to make for a compelling read.

This is well written, thorough, and engaging. The former Secretary of State writes with wit, humor and a deep understanding of national and international politics based on a comprehensive grasp of the history behind the events of the era she writes about.
