I might be a bit unfair to this series because I am not a fan of SMUT (porn). I got to page 4 and had to put it down cause it was very porn-like. My cousin read these books and absolutely LOVED the series but if you don't like to read porn this isn't the series for you. If you liked 50 shades, I hear this is a better story line.

OMG can't wait for book five. I read a lot of reviews before buying this set, as I hadn't heard of them until after the publication of book four. Not many of them were positive for book four, as it seems most people thought Ms Day was stretching out the story too much for greedy purposes but... I can't say I thought book four was so bad. Books one and two were so awesome that I delved straight into three without a break but to be honest, I think the second half of three was the weaker part. My biggest complaint for the series as a whole is that Eva goes from dead certain it's all going to be fine now, to totally convinced it's all about to end in a split second. And it's not just once, it's over and over and over again. I know that's supposed to be the result of her abuse, but when the whole Kline thing resurfaced I thought if I could reach my fist into the Kindle and punch Eva's head I would. What was Ms Day thinking there? She's supposed to be making us root for the two characters to get together, not make us hate one of them! I loved getting Gideon's POV in book four - hope that continues with book five. But WHEN?!!!!! Give us a date, please!

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I came across it after reading the Fifty Shades series and I must say I enjoyed the CrossFire Series more. The characters were more developed and the story line was a lot stronger. I'm waiting for another book in the series!
Blood and Roses (Shadow Stalkers Book 3) :: A Free Steamy Romance (The Pearl Series Book 1) - Shades of Pearl :: Blackmailed by the beast :: A Hunger So Wild: A Renegade Angels Novel :: Pride and Pleasure

I've written a good number of reviews for the store as well as for publishers and authors directly, and I can honestly say that no other romance series has impressed or affected me as deeply as Sylvia Day's CROSSFIRE SERIES. With thousands of reviews already written for the four books and sets currently available in the series, I will address a few points here which are outside the usual synopsis/review format.
Firstly, the characters in this series--all of them--are, in my opinion, among the most rounded, dimensional, reliable characters in romance. Miss Day's character development skills are simply among the best in the business. Secondary characters are as complex and dynamic as the main characters in many other series, and Gideon and Eva are so real that I actually imagine them moving, breathing, and looking at each other with the intensity of all they feel for each other as their images pop so easily into my mind, thanks to the strength of the characterization and writing.
It is tremendously rewarding for me to spend time with the Crossfire characters. After reading each book, I've also listened to all of the audiobooks, and the narrator is superb. She differentiates the characters expertly with her voicing, and even manages to express Gideon's passion and intensity. The fourth book in the series, CAPTIVATED BY YOU, provides Gideon's point of view for the first time in the series. This was an ENORMOUS pleasure for me and will be appreciated by any true Gideon Cross fan. Although Gideon's narrator does not have the deepest, most masculine tone of voice, he has the intensity which embodies Gideon, and he conveys all of the singular focus which Gideon has for Eva, making the reader believe that Eva truly is the reason that Gideon draws breath, and able to understand how he could take some of the actions he has on behalf of Eva in his desire to protect and care for her (no spoilers here!).
I must admit to being somewhat surprised and disappointed by a number of reviews which criticize and even insult the story, characters, and writing of the later volumes in this series. It is my hope that new readers will be open-minded about the direction in which Gideon and Eva have gone. Yes, the situations which befall them are sometimes extreme; this is a story about two passionate people who collide into each other with all the force and pathos of their personalities, and their relationship itself is highly sexual, emotional, and extreme. Gideon's never been able to tell the reader how he feels prior to book four...so when you hear his anguish, his fears, his vulnerability for the first time, is it fair to call him weak or pathetic? I say no; Gideon is written as a fully dimensional character, and the responsible reader will accept the notion that any man who could admit to having the profound need and emotion which Gideon has for Eva will also be intensely vulnerable to the thought of losing her. Getting inside Gideon's head was one of the most vicarious literary thrills I've ever had! Please, please, Miss Day, give us more of Gideon's POV in the next book!
Finally, I am utterly confounded by those who complain that the author "said this would be a trilogy," and have problems with additional books. I say PLEASE keep giving us Crossfire stories! Do we not want to spend as much time as possible with the significant people in our lives, those we've come to love? Why not hope for the same time with our most compelling literary characters? I IMPLORE Miss Day to keep writing this series. Gideon and Eva are such "big" characters, living big lives; I believe that they have a lot more to share with us. The cast of secondary characters is so strong that many of their stories also warrant telling. I doubt that there could EVER be enough of Gideon and Eva to satisfy me. When it comes to the passion, the pain, the romance, the struggle, and the mad love between Gideon and Eva, we can never get too much of a good thing. I run a large virtual reading group of women who love erotic fiction, and the group grows monthly. The Crossfire series is our number one rave read; in fact, it's been Gideon and Eva who've gained our group quite a few of its members!). You keep writing them (pretty please?), Miss Day, and we'll keep reading them. Promise!

After reading Sylvia Day's Crossfire series, I am not only obsessed with the books and the characters, but in love with them. Syliva Day captured my attention from the very first sentence and kept me there until the very last sentence of the last book, Captivated With You. Now I'm waiting impatiently for her fifth book, One With You to come out. I'm in love with the story of Gideon and Eva! The characters are multi-faceted with intense feeling and character, which only adds to the characters vulnerabilities and strengths as they build on their relationship. Secondary characters played a very important role in Gideon and Eva's story. Sylvia Day did an outstanding job of not skimping on the importance or the amount of time these secondary characters played in the storyline. These characters were an essential part of the story as each one provided some level of chaos and produced insecurities that threatened to pull Gideon and Eva apart challenging them in ways they never expected. Just when you thought things were finally going to come together for them and they would get their happily ever after, someone or something always seemed to show up to play a part in threatening their happiness. I felt like I was on a rollercoaster ride getting whiplash throughout most of the story (all four books). Apart, Gideon and Eva seemed function as half a person; together they were whole and happy. Gideon became Eva's protector; she chased his demons away. Together they faced adversity coming at them in all directions that made them stronger, until........now I have to wait for her final book to see how Gideon and Eva face the rest of their future and their demons!!! I hope Sylvia Day will write more series of books like Crossfire. I'm not a fan of vampire type love stories as I (personally) enjoy more modern possibilities. IF you loved Fifty Shades, you will love, love, love the Crossfire Series!!! Couldn't put the books down!!!!!!!!!! I'd give it more stars if I could.. ........

I know a lot of the negative reviews on this series, as well as the series as it continues. Is the time in between each release. As well as the “sex scenes” just filling in pages to drag the book on. I on the other hand, waited until all 5 books were released to begin reading. I can understand the anticipation being an annoyance, but not worth the rant and rave of a negative review. The sex scenes are a bit lengthy. And yes, the book was slightly dragged on.. but the sex scenes to me, show a lot of what the story can’t tell. It helps show sides of Gideon that he will not show, which is part of why the readers fall in love with this fictional dreamy man in the first place. He’s hidden, he works so hard to stay in control. And every sex scene, shows a side of him that’s letting go. I was unsure while beginning this book, getting through the first couple chapters and seeing the difference in the writing style. The way Sylvia changed between Eva’s view, and Gideon’s. But as the book went on, I found it extremely insightful to get the different perspectives. All and all, I would suggest the series. I would warn all who start, to really dig deep into the story itself and not allow the sexual encounters to put them off the life that’s being built behind them. Every series has flaws. If too much sex is the problem here, I think that it could be a whole lot worse.

Okay so my husband bought this series for me because he heard me talking about it. That my Favorite Aunthor had suggested it to me. So he bought it for me and when it came in I picked the first book up and here I am 2 days later on the third book. A lot of people say this reminds them of 50 shades and in a way it does but not really. For me at first I saw how it could remind people of 50 shades with a hot billionaire that want nothing more than to protect this beautiful young girl. But once you get into it more you see that's about it that it has in common. For me it was like a mix of 50 shades and The Steel Brothers series by Helen Hardt. It's raw and deep. You can't help but all in love with these characters. Gideon is sexy and smoldering hot. He is rough around the edges but sweet when it comes to Eva. This book had me from the very first line. I was hooked. I have only been hooked from the very beginning not even a handful of times. This story is raw and and deep. It takes my breath away. It's a page turner. I highly recommend this series and am thankful my favorite Author suggested it to me and my husband bought it. 5 stars all across the board!

Lord this series is everything! I laughed and I cried and I may have thrown a fit or two along the way and throughout the journey of Eva and Gideon!
Their attraction is instant and their chemistry is through the roof, but Gideon and Eva are far from perfect and they both fight an inner battle with their demons that they don’t think the other can handle and their right!
Gideon wants to protect Eva, but he wants her sheltered and away from everything and Eva wants to smother Gideon with affection and love h thinks he doesn’t deserve. It’s a rough and difficult journey for these two and the end is certainly not over for them! And maybe happily ever after doesn’t exist for them

This series is one of my favorites. Totally blows fifty shades out of the water. Gideon and Eva have an incredible relationship with ups and downs, happy and sad times but you can still feel the love they have for each other. Eva has tried to move on but Gideon draws her back. They are, to me, a perfect couple. They make you believe in love. I absolutely love this book and the whole series.

I love Crossfire series. Gideon Cross is fictional character that fill a space in every girl heart after they've read the series. I hard to let go the Crossfire series since I read the first book series# Bared to you. It keeps me going with curiosity and feeling for the rest of the series. I enjoyed reading these romance series. The books are so well written and smooth storytelling. It's just a good romance stories that will make you spent the nights just to finish book after book.

As some of the other review I started these books because I had read that it compared to Fifty Shades. For me the Crossfire Series is so much better than Fifty! I can not wait for book 5. I just finished book 4 last night and today I have a longing for more. I can't get enough of Gideon and Eva's relationship.

I'm a FSOG fan and these were suggested. Everyone says "It's like FSOG but different." During the first few chapters of book one, I thought "This is too similar to FSOG. I'm not sure I can read these." but I kept going. Mid-way through book one I realized I was hooked. I ended up reading all 4 books in a week! The characters were young and fun, comments they would say had me laughing because that's how my friends and I can be, and the story kept me turning pages. Now I'm dying to read book 5.

Unfortunately I love these books. However i would not recommend starting them until book 5 is released. Sylvia Day and her antics with this series are very annoying. It started out as a trilogy then changed to 5 books. She has dragged out this series way to long and we still have no idea when the 5th book will be released. She is too busy travelling, promoting her books and being in the limelight to finish. I will purchase her final book but will not buy anything else published by her as she is not a reader friendly author.

I typically listen to mystery and thriller audio books, and some comedy. I kind of stumbled upon the first book, Bared to you, suggested by a friend, who admitted I should hide the iphone screen when I listened... so no one knew what I was hearing! After "reading" (listening to) this first book on audible, I was so surprised. Wasn't prepared for the graphic and open sexual descriptions, but because the narrator is SO good and believable, and the characters were so well written, I ended up listening to all 4 books in a row, unable to get enough Gideon and Eva. And, of course, Cary and even Magdalena and everyone else. I have listened to all 4 books more than once, too... listening more carefully to things I missed the first time. The narrator, Jill Redfield, is excellent as Eva and weirdly, in the 4th book, where Gideon has a male voice, I missed Jill's Gideon!
Sylvia Day, you're such a storyteller extraordinaire. You have written and developed two absolutely compelling and endearing characters. And, built a setting for them that's pretty damn great! Now, for book 5????

Wow! I read one description about this series prior to reading and of course the comparison to FSofG. But I found this to me much more complex, a little darker but well developed and opened my mind to a different life style. The journey was long, the couple was loving and at the end of the day that's what you really want. Thank you.

I read the first three books one after another and finished them within a week and had to wait about seven months for the fourth book (which I preordered). Not only is the plot of the series captivating and intriguing, the details Sylvia Day uses in her books is beautiful to say the least. I've read the series twice now and will definitely read it again and again. I've read a lot of books in this genre and LET ME TELL YOU this series is my second favorite. (Next to Anna Todd's After series!!!!)

Love that the female character wasnt so submissive but hated how even though she was mad at him she would forgive him so easily by being blind sided through sex cuz just looking at him she will forget she was angry at him for keeping secret for shutting her out. But over all it was a great book to read just to much sex going on.

Overall I enjoyed this series, sad that book 5 has'nt seen the light of day yet, since I read the 1st 4 in 4 days! Loved the character development that took place through the pages. If you enjoyed 50 shades you will probably enjoy this series.
