I received the book in the mail this afternoon. Starting reading it and didn't put it down until I was finished. It should be mandatory reading for all high school students! His story shows us that we are so much alike, no matter the color of our skin. It's the content of our character! A must read...

This book is the only political/autobiographical book that I have ever stayed up all night reading. It is filled with funny anecdotes that reveal searing truths. I deal every day with many poor minority folks and they are virtually all people of faith who hold fairly conservative values. Then why do they vote for Democrats? After reading this book I think it has become clear. This gentleman's life story is beyond fascinating. It is positively riveting. And his honesty is downright disarming. Any person who cares about our future as a nation should read this book. It was a seminal moment for me.

Appologies - I did not realize that this book was out of print. Will purchase the Kindle version ASAP.

The price of this book at $72.12 for the Hard Cover version and 57.63 for the Paperback version drives home the "race card" in an interesting way. Ask yourself: How many inner city kids will be able to afford the book? And more importantly: What is the author's agenda: Profitability or racial awareness? The price point for a book such as this is a visceral turnoff when it comes to putting a spotlight on this important subject.

With the exception of a few grammar or typographical errors which are not enough to be distracting this is an excellent book that tells a story often hidden in the main media- Not everyone that is conservative and has common sense is an old white guy.

I recommend EVERYONE read this book. It was hilariously funny, yet at the same time, sad and thought-provoking. Kevin Jackson skillfully articulates what has been swirling around in my head for years.

I am white, but I am from an inner-city, white, lower/middle-class neighborhood. So, while I can not pretend to relate to the history of oppression and discrimination of the black American, I can relate the the classism and the socio-economic dynamic that Mr. Jackson describes. He repeatedly makes the point that liberalism is not good for ANY OF US!

It is so important for the Republican party to make a stronger effort at attracting more blacks and hispanics into the party. They are the future of the republican party, given their unwavering socially conservative nature. The white, secular, progressives are the backbone of the liberal elite, and many ordinary white apologists make for "useful idiots" within the party. (See the description of the two types of liberals in the epilogue.) That's not to say that we don't have any strong, white conservatives left - there are many great ones! But they weren't enough to pull off the last election. So, until the Republican party fights back against these false claims of racism and bigotry, we will remain out of power.

It is high time that the Republican party calls out the democrats for hijacking the civil rights movement! Got to give 'em credit, though - they are skillful masters of spin to have gotten away with that trick. Ironically, I think it is the election of the first black (well half-black) president that is opening more eyes - finally! I think people are starting to realize that they have been sold a bill of goods. And that it's nothing new. And the recent sound bites exposing the racism of the likes of Barbara Boxer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, et el, are shining the harsh light of reality on the hypocritical liberal elites!

There are so many "favorite parts" of this book. I love the description of the TV news reporter trying to describe Britain's black citizens. And the Jay Leno story was a riot. There are many more I would love to refer to, but I don't want to spoil the whole book. You just have to read it! It's been a long time since a book had me belly-laughing!

I actually love the Epilogue and the Blog samples at the end, as they encapsualte the entire theme. From start to finish, it is a real page-turner, and a MUST-READ!

In The BIG Black Lie, Kevin Jackson generously invites us into his personal world. This book is funny, yet quite sad at times, and educational. We meet the loving relatives who were the positive role models of his childhood. We witness his anger at the flawed father who failed him. All this is set in social and political contexts. Mr. Jackson demonstrates knowledge of American history beyond that of most Americans today. His perspectives on politics, specifically his disappointment with the Democrat party, have led him to his current conservative views.

This fresh look at historical and current issues will be illuminating for many readers. But it is more the person we come to know through this book that is so impressive. Kevin has the courage to free himself from the crutch of collective victim-hood that is so common in African-American rhetoric. He risks presenting his life as his individual creation. He takes credit for his successes and makes every effort to own his shortcomings.

I hope young people will read this book and be inspired by Mr. Jackson's brave individualism. Kevin Jackson demonstrates that if we fail to take responsibility for our individual paths in life we can never truly be free. Kevin Jackson is a smart, warm, humble person who is more than a little bit of a hero.

The author has been called a "racist, an Uncle Tom, a sellout, and a host of other derogatory terms." As a "Frederick Douglass Republican" I prefer to him a brave American who is willing to stand up for truth.

The book is 216 pages long, but you'll read it as if it was a mere 50 pages, because the author brilliantly explains American politics using his life narrative. I am a fan of "The Black Sphere" and share with Kevin the experience of growing up as a minority in a broken home. Perhaps that is why I found his personal narrative so compelling.

Read it! This book will give you a greater appreciation of a "black experience" that does not end in tragedy! A must-read!

After reading the negative comments, I must say, liberals, please take note: This book is full of SARCASM, HUMOR, WIT, and most importantly, TRUTH. He doesn't say the things he says because he is black, he says the things he says because they are true. The fact that people even accused him of this are actually being racist themselves. Also, he talks about his experiences growing up, and how he saw those situations play out.

Kevin also talks about how historically racist the Democratic party is. He does this because it is true. If you don't or didn't know this, you need to study your history. Kevin also exposes their revisionist history. For example: Democrats like to claim they are they were the Republican party back during slavery (which they weren't). Based on that logic, they went from being for blacks rights in the 1800's to the Democrats of the 1960's that were against blacks. That doesn't even make logical sense. Do you honestly think that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (the leading civil rights leader of his day), the man preaching equality, would support the party who harbored the openly vile racist leader Robert Byrd, among many others? Not only does Kevin point out how stupid Democrats think you are, he points out how they use your stupidity against you.

If you are too dumb to decipher between sarcasm, intentional humor, and fact, this book is not for you. If you are smart enough to know when something is intentionally funny or if it's truth, you will love this book. Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down, finishing the entire book in under 4 hours. Kevin Jackson is a great man and a great leader in the conservative movement. His very personal and honest story is one you will really enjoy! I can't wait for his next book!

I met Kevin in person in Nashville. What a powerful speaker and great message. This book gives you a look at his unique perspective developed from his upbringing and maturation as an adult. I'd also suggest you follow his other media on Twitter and Facebook. Thanks for sharing your very personal story.

The truth is the truth whether one chooses to believe it or not. Read this book and you will have enjoyed some truth! I think of Kevin Jackson as a new Moses leading people out of the desert! Love the book and admire the author for having the courage to speak the truth.

One can't say enough good things about this book. Suffice it to say Kevin "nails it"! Can't wait for the sequel! BTW, I NEVER, repeat...NEVER sit down & read a book. It's normally not my thing to do, but I read Kevin's book cover to cover in less than 24 hours. I'm also one of the fortunate ones who has an autographed copy of "The Big Black Lie"...the problem is I just had to go ask my wife where it is! Hope I haven't loaned it out & not received it back yet. If so I'll be coming to for another copy, Kevin, & asking you to re-autograph it for me!

...in addition to this one: Unveiling the Whole Truth--What the Media Failed to Tell American Voters (Wayne Perryman). Together, they tell of how the Democrats continually hose minorities, the poor, disabled, and anyone else who is deemed "exploitable."

This current health care proposal (HR3200) is a classic case--the only difference there is EVERYONE is deemed "exploitable."

Whatever happened to to teaching a man how to fish for himself? The answer is "the desire for repeat business", and that's what the Dems are all about.

Kevin Jackson's book is well written and insightful. He teaches the history of the civil rights movement and gives commentary to the culture of the black community in a way that is respectful, yet blunt. He is a strong voice that will not be filtered or watered down by today's media and the liberal movement that seeks to restrain any voice of opposition. An excellent and quick read. I couldn't put it down.

After following Kevin on Twitter - I was very eager to read his book. I loved it! He speaks in a very frank, honest way. I was very touched by the story of his youth, he could have very easily been a lost soul after losing his mother. He shows the true courage in ingenuity of an American. He sheds light on racism that is usually dismissed. Kudos Kevin, well done!

I highly recommend this book to anyone, from any walk of life to read. Whether you agree with Mr. Jackson's conclusions or not, he certainly gives plenty of food for thought. He also gives facts that anyone can check out for him or herself as to their truth. This book would be a good one for a discussion group, especially if the group is comprised of those of differing points of view who can carry on civil dialogue with each other. Who knows, by reading this book, you just might learn something you didn't already know. You will never know unless you try.

I wrote an email to Mr. Jackson himself, telling him how I felt. I'm going to post what I wrote to him in this review, as it sums it up for me:

--------------------------------------------------

I won't damn your work with faint praise. No sir, I'm going to tell you how much it meant to me, for several reasons. Here we go:

* It's a page turner. How you managed to do that with a book like this amazes me.
* It answers questions I've always wanted to ask. As a white person, especially Conservative, a limit has been placed on me in terms of what I can ask my fellow black friends and co-workers. You've illuminated so much of your life story that has given me insight into you---You don't speak for all black people, and you don't pretend to. You speak to your experiences as a person who is black. I can't tell you how much I appreciated learning about who you are, about Kirk, about Motherdear, your mother and your biological father. I learned about a fellow human being with a different take on life---not simply a black man. Awesome.
* You laid out your case with honesty, and with no political correctness in the speech. It was honest. We need more of this.
* The literary references and the humor throughout the book added much needed connection. It gave me more insight into who you are as a person
* The case against the Democrats, I mean, damn! Well done!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

That's as concise as it gets. You want to read this book. You want to read it because, as to everything Mr. Jackson has written, you want to know Kevin more. He has insight that everyone can appreciate, and he delivers this insight so well that I couldn't help but finish the book in one night.

I've got the first edition, and I am proud to have it. One day, when Kevin is far more well-known, I can say I was one of the few who got to read him first.

Good job, Kevin. By all means, don't stop with this one.

Kevin Jackson is an excellent writer and The BIG Black Lie is a wonderful, easy-to-read expose of the ridiculous notion that all blacks interested in politics are, or should be, liberal.

I loved it, and would definately buy any future books he publishes.

Only people who already hate Kevin for simply speaking the truth they wish THEY had the brass to say would so blatantly reveal their self-loathing... as they ridiculously try to disguise their self-loathing as some venomous review for a book that sells itself. How foolish it is to state that Kevin's prolific book sales are somehow related to greed and/or a "big lie."
If America doesn't run out of time, the majority of the minorities will soon be dancing out in the streets to thank Kevin for freeing them from this insidious bondage called government "assistance."

Kevin Jackson speaks from experience and clear vision. He does not allow color bias what he sees. How refreshing.
He cares about America and tries to bring the truth forward. He stands for his own image, not one created by media, and stereotypes. Insightful perspective others are afraid to say.

In the words of that great Republican, Martin Luther King, Jr., "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." Kevin Jackson speaks out and shines light on the facts, which are not discussed, about the Democratic party and the lies of liberalism. Kevin helps us to understand the victimology behind an agenda to keep people entrapped and enslaved by destructive 'group think' patterns. All this, and he manages to make us laugh about it! Have fun reading this book and discovering your inner-conservative-self!

From a Grandmother and Grandfather of 8 we want to say HooRay for Kevin. This book is verification that regardless of who you are, how or where you grew up, with work and desire you can reach your goals, 'be all you can be'. His honesty is to be admired, a real straight shooter. Should be required reading for all youth.

We had the pleasure of hearing Kevin speak and relish the day when we can hear him again and hopefully get the opportunity to meet him.

I just recently found Kevin's blog and immediately had to order his book. I haven't read a whole lot of it yet (just got it yesterday), but having read all of his blog posts and what I've read so far in his book, this is a must read (as well as his blog) for anybody who grew up in hard circumstances. Nobody has to accept that it is "their place" to be poor and dependent on the government. Kevin is proof of that.

I knew this book would be fantastic after reading Kevin's Blog, The Black Sphere, but after reading it, I must say that it exponentially surpassed my expectations. Kevin Jackson's talent for expressing truth in ways that others easily relate to will bring him a lifetime of success and achievement. His personal story is just as riveting and entertaining as the commentary he delivers. Kudos, Mr. Jackson, for this timely work. You will be remiss if you do not add The Big Black Lie to your personal library.

Kevin Jackson has a way of relating the thoughts and feelings of black America in a way that must be heard. His experiences and views regarding the Dem party come shining through with intelligence and candor. He's definitely one to watch and is a great leader for our youth today. MUST READ!

Kevin Jackson gives an account of his life growing up surrounded by civil rights, democrat party policies, and explains how he observed and reasoned himself out of the mold. His writing gives you a feeling that you actually know the people and events in the book. It is a must read for all conservatives and liberals alike, especially if you have things you would like to say but can't because of racial politics. Move over, Walter Williams....

Fascinating read! Kevin's story is a reminder of how family plays a strong role in shaping who we are, but also that it is up to us to define what we believe in. His story is eloquently told in a fashion that has me identifying with his quote: "I was a sponge, soaking in the tales like verbal elixars." His profound message is related in a way that has me LOL (laughing out loud), while learning important lesson's from his experiences. His explaination of how the Democratic party has damaged the lives of people from every race, color, age, economic and education level is enlightening. This book is for everyone who is black, white, red, yellow, etc.
