From silly to laugh out loud funny, the action never stops, and neither do the wisecracks. Aunt Lil, Cookie and Amber are great supporting characters, well developed and with their own sense of humor. Steamy Reyes gets his own licks in and great, though perilous, fun is had by all.

This series just gets better and better. The characters are fantastic and fit together in the most exciting ways. There is friendship, doubt, family, trust, lust, passion, insanity in the form of laughter, great T-sirt slogans, ghosts, demons, Artemis the ghost dog/guardian, work/cases and, oh, did I mention LUST? Yes? Well, it bears repeating. Love the bikers, Rocket and his sister Blue, and the craziness that befalls them all. This is a seriously great series. Charlie, who names all of her body parts as well as her gun, furniture and who knows what else, is a memorable hero who knows who and what's important. She is a huge amount of fun and makes the Grim Reaper as compassionate and human as possible. Reyes, the love of her life, sigh, is, um, drool worthy and impossibly tough and indestructible, but then he would be when you consider where he came from. The tension mounts between heaven and hell and the only flaw I can find is that the AUTHOR DOES NOT TYPE FAST ENOUGH. Having said that, please consider this book and all the books that came before it...highly recommended.

It doesn't get any better than Charley Davidson. Truly my most favorite female character of any book I've read, she is strong, sarcastic, witty, with just enough imperfection to be plausible. I live this series and waiting for the next in the series is like waiting for a drug fix!

A fun fourth book in the Charley Davidson series. Should be read in order because the author references the earlier books in the series, but can be read as a stand alone. Good urban fantasy. With all the bells and whistles we have come to expect from Darynda Jones. Look forward to book five!

Highly entertaining, had me laughing out loud. Our heroine, Charlotte Davidson, goes by the nickname Charley, I'll just let that sink in a moment, shall I, is a grim reaper. Ghosts pass through her on their way to the other side, the good one. Usually, dead people pass on to their reward or punishment without needing to use her as a portal, but there are those with unfinished business and she assists them,

Charley is also a private investigator with ADD, an evil stepmother, an almost estranged sister, a father she adores. She also have a best friend, Cookie, and this friendship is rock solid. These women would do anything for each other and I appreciate that. They accept each other 100%.

Charley names things. Her cherry red Jeep Wrangler is Misery, "but not like the book."Her sofa is named Sophie. She has named her skull Fred, her brain Barbara, her right breast Danger, her left breast, Will Robinson, her right ovary Beam Me Up, and her left ovary Scotty. She has named another body part Virginia and I'll let that soak in a minute, shall I.

In a corner of her living room, there is a ghost she has named Mr. Wong who never moves out of the corner and is levitating a few inches off the floor. Mr. Wong never speaks, never leaves the corner.

There are several intriguing men in these books, her father and his brother, her Uncle Bob, Garret, a skip tracer/bonds enforcement, agent, Donavan, a biker and his group, Osh, a soul-eating demon, and our hero, Reyes, and I'll him surprise you, shall I.

Gotta tell you there is a series and I have only read the first eight before the remainder became too expensive for me. I think there are twelve out now. I'd love to read volumes nine through twelve. I obtained the first six for ninety-nine cents and because I was hooked paid a bit more for number seven and eight but I think this series is very popular and number twelve now costs $12.99. Yikes.

None of these are standalones. They must be read in order and it does get a bit tedious when the author repeats certain aspects of the back story in each of the volumes.

So much humor, so much loving friendship, tantalizing mysteries, pathos, these novels run a huge emotional gamut and I stayed with it through eight volumes because I just had to know what comes next.

The eighth volume ends this particular story arc and introduces a new one. Most annoyingly it ends on a cliffhanger.

The eight volumes are First Grave on the Right, Second Grave to the Left, Third Grave Dead Ahead, Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet, Fifth Grave Past the Light, Sixth Grave on the Edge, Seventh Grave and No Body, and Eighth Grave After Dark.

I LOVE this series. Charley Davidson is sarcastic and funny and I always laugh throughout these books. I really wish they would make these books into a tv series. I think it would be a great hit. I can't wait till the 5th book comes out because the end of this book was great!

I loved that there was more to Charlie and Reyes' story then there had been in previous books. I more than loved the plot of this one and how it ended... and I'm looking forward to Charlie finding out more about her powers and her relationship with Reyes. Love him....

I have read the previous Three graves & ""found the 4th just as funny. Of course, Reyes Farrow is a force to be reckoned with, but in this story, Charley also becomes a force to be dealt with.

I highly recommend this book, in addition to the other 3 books by the author.

This is, of course, the fourth book in the series. The characters are terrific and the humor is laugh out loud funny. This was a hard book to put down, unfortunately work is necessary. Can't wait to read the next one. Love this series!!

Darynda Jones' acerbic wit cracks me up! Her protagonist is a smart-ass after my own heart. She's not real good at ending her books sometimes, but with these books it's more the journey and not the end that keeps me reading.

Another madcap adventure featuring Charley and her band of fun, loyal family and friends. I liked it, but felt like the relationship with Reyes didn't really advance and we didn't learn too much more about her abilities in this book.

Just when things seem predictable, I am thrown for a loop.

I enjoy these books and read them super quickly. Don't expect to have a deep self-reflection or learn the secret of life but you should expect to be entertained.

The dialogue is witty and interesting, the characters are interesting and Charley Davidson is an irreverent personality who is a joy to follow!

Even the predictable love interest has a wonderful spin which makes it the unexpected expected.

I love the main characters humor she's funny, she's smart when she wants to be, the author helps with making her so relatable especially when oblivious to her abilities. I love it. It's not too vulgar and not too too explicit it definitely keeps me hooked purchasing #5 now

How can you not love Charlie Davidson? She is the type of main character that I can see myself being friends with in real life. The fourth book offers more to the tAle of Charley and Reyes and it won't be enough. Can not wait until the fifth comes out in July!

The combination detective series and romance novel makes this a unique book that is hard to put down. You can't help but laugh out loud at Charlie's funny jokes or love it when the bad guy goes down! All 5 books in the series are page-turners.

So many questions...so many answers. I love how she names all her body parts and yet she can't name her couch?
I can't wait to start reading the next book. The story lines are so unpredictable. You haven't read anything like it.

Love the twists in the plot. Love the funnies and Reyes is getting hotter by each passing book. I sometimes wished I was incorporeal, then I wouldn't have to close the book for responsibilities and sleep.

As usual Darynda did a wonderful job of relaying the adventures of the grim reaper, her friends, relatives, and of course the son of Satan! So glad there are five books in the series so I can finish one and happily start the next!

There are no excuses for a professionally published book to have this many errors. I counted 3 in the first half. Get a new editor. It takes away from the book. I thought this series was better than that.

Book 4 in this series does not disappoint... While the incorporeal and "other worldly" aspect is becoming more prominent than in the first 3, it is so well written, you are dragged right into believing it's all real. The humor does not let down, and the sensual scenes definitely picked up the pace (and my heartbeat). I'm off to buy book 5!

I love this series. I love these characters. I love this author. FOURTH GRAVE finds grim reaper `Charley Davidson' unable to leave her apartment and addicted to home shopping channels. Absolute hilarious exchanges between `Charley' and `Cookie' and `Gemma' (Charley's sister), happen in the form of an intervention. Laugh-out-loud funniest part of this book for me was the conversation about the "Exit Only" sweatpants. Hilarious! In this book we learn more about `Charley's' past and about her abilities. We learn more about `Reyes' too. Watch out for the surprise twist at the end. I. Did. Not. See. That. Coming. 5 Stars! Bring on FIFTH GRAVE!

Just another fabulous book about Charley, Reyes, and her loved ones. I am guilty of stopping everything to read these books, and this was no exception. Loved it - plenty of action, Reyes, wit, Reyes, Cookie, Reyes.... Every time DJ creates one of these, I will read it (and re-read it). Enjoy!
