I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this book. The story opens in a very unique setting. two strangers meet while both attempting to commit suicide. Both Charlie and Kate have broken pasts, and through their chance meeting and developing relationship, they learn to love and be loved. Charlie and Kate's vulnerabilities were so pure and honest.

There is something about British humor that warms me all over. The dialogue in this book is incredible. Not only did this book choke me up, it also made me smile and giggle, as well as blush. I am quite impressed by this authors ability to pull these feelings from all of these spectrums, and do it so well.

All of the characters and the storyline were well developed. I actually felt like I was watching a television series. It really is a brilliant book!

The sexual chemistry between these two is explosive.
There is just the right amount of angst, heartbreak, lust, humor, and just the overall plot that make this book so well rounded.

Amazing, brilliant, perfect. LOVED it! I cant say enough about this book. It pulled me in from the very first page and just didn't let go. From the first chapter I felt tears and laughter. That is brilliant. Kate and Charlie fall s-l-o-w-l-y in love. And I wouldn't want in any other way. We have a chance to get to know them as their getting to know one another. We end up falling in love with both of them as they fall in love with one another. There is a lot of angst in this book. Both of the main characters have troubled backgrounds. There is a LOT of sex in this book. The sex scenes were, once again, another perfect thing about the story. They were freakin' hot, but not trashy or cheap. You FELT how much these two wanted and needed one another. This book could not have been better.

Sweet mother of baby Jesus but that was one intense roller coaster of emotion!

My absolute favorite thing about this book was the constant banter between Kate & Charlie I haven't laughed out loud this much at a book in ages.

And the fact that the rest of the story is so dark & heart wrenching just worked so well.

The only thing for me was that the sex scenes got a bit repetitive for me, I didn't 100% feel the connection between the characters (no butterflies in the tummy for me) and it was a bit longer than necessary IMO.

Other than that it was an awesome read & I'll be looking out for more by this author for sure :)

Wow! Barbara Elsborg really out did herself in this beautiful tender love story. Never have you run across two people more who should not be together. Both Charlie and Kaye have issues, have scarred pasts--but never have two people needed each other more. Nothing about this story seems fake or contrived every page keeps you engrossed. Charlie can be a royal ass at times, in fact in the end I was saying to myself, please oh please just this once let the heroine say NO! No, I don't want you, you've hurt me too deeply. But then I bawled my eyes out at the prospect of them not being together. I've read several books by Barbara and plan on reading every single one of them. I feel blessed to have added her to my keeper author list. If you love a story full of love, passion, desire and even comedy at times you will not be disappointed in this story. But honestly, make sure you've got some tissue!

This is, hands down, THE BEST contemporary romance/erotica book I've ever read. The characters are vibrant, flawed and compelling. The story of a relationship forged in the glare of flashbulbs and paparazzi is engrossing and, although it has generous amounts of delightful humor, it also appeals to your deepest emotions. Through all the twists, turns and nosedives of Kate and Charlie's relationship, the author keeps you on the hook to the very last page. In fact, to the very last word--quite literally.

Barbara Elsborg is an amazing new voice in erotica/romance, and although I've read every book she's published, I believe this is her crowning achievement.

I also understand this book is currently in the Top Ten of the Preditors and Editors(TM) Readers Choice Poll for the best erotica e-books of 2009--dispite the fact it was only published in December!

I experienced so many emotions while reading this book. What a rollercoaster ride I was on throughout the entire book, but all in a Good Way! The author did such a wonderful job of taking me along every hurt, disappointment and betrayal our heroin "Kate" experienced. What really surprised me was our hero"Charlie" was no "alpha male" that he was the unsure one . That he relied on Kate. That without Kate he was lost and I still loved his character .Me who likes to read about strong alpha males! Because of Kate's experiences she appeared strong and guarded, she could be very witty and painfully honest but, the author does an excellent job of letting us see just how fragile she really is. I loved this story I recommend it.It was a different read for me!!

I just finished Strangers after pulling an all-nighter...I could not put it down! I loved the relationship between Charlie and Kate, the humor and the interaction was really "laugh out loud"!! It was an extremely emotional story as well, every emotion available was experienced!! I adored Kate and I loved Charlie, even though he drove me nuts at times!!! I can't recommend this book enough!! This was my first book by this author but will definitely have a look at the rest..

"Strangers" is one of those books where you pick it up - hoping it'll be good, (but not really counting on it) and then blows you away because it exceeds your expectations. It's very original love story with characters that you care about. Barbara Elsborg is a writer on the way up. I predict she's going to be a huge best-selling author before long. Try her book. You won't be sorry.

This is the second of Barbara Elsborg's books that I have read and she is now officially my favourite author. I read a lot, usually the same romance/erotic genre, bouncing around various authors, usually lead by the store recommendations or what others have bought. What tends to frustrate me is the general lack of substance in the majority of the books. Weak story lines and predictable dialogue seem to often be the case (not always and there are certainly some excellent authors out there). The books are enjoyable and easy to read. However, if you want to be drawn into a story, ride a roller coaster of emotion and really care for the characters, you will find this in Barbara Elsborg's books. This was a fantastic read. The dialogue was witty and intelligent. It was refreshing to have it written with genuine British terms. I appreciate that some readers from the US might find these difficult, but then, we read books where "y'all" and "getting nekkid" (got to love Lorelei James!) without complaint. Try this book. You won't be disappointed.

... and I probably read around 200 books last year.

This book has EVERYTHING. It is sexy, funny, serious, poignant, heart-breaking, and up-lifting. Love, love, love this author's books, but this one just knocked me off of my feet. Both the protagonists are flawed and yet completely relatable. I bought it thinking I would get a little "romance novel vacation" but ended up with SO MUCH MORE. It is not "romantic fluff". (And I admit I read that kind of stuff as well.) I laughed out loud and cried the "ugly cry". This story should be picked up by a large publishing house and in bookstores everywhere. It is so vivid and alive I could almost see it happening like a movie reel in my head.

Very few books leave me with a sense of the characters after I've finished reading. Kate and Charlie from "Strangers" are still with me and I read their story in early December 2009.

As you can tell I HIGHLY recommend this book. You will NOT be disappointed.

I really wanted to give this book 5 stars because it absorbed me so deeply which most books no longer do. I have to give it 4 because I was severely disappointed with the hero's actions at one point. That being said, one if the HOTTEST and most EMOTIONALLY GRIPPING romances I've read in a while!

Strangers was the story by Barbara Elsborg that I found myself having the biggest emotional reaction to. Kate is such a wreck when we first meet her at the lowest point of her life and we are taken on a journey to her finding peace in herself.

I will admit I sort of like stories where a character is wronged and you see the other party realize how much they messed up. Strangers definitely has those moments and Charlie has to really work to redeem himself.

Wanted to read something good. But too much sex description. The use of drugs, and alcohol was a turn off !!!
Not worth it. Go read something else like GABRIEL'S INFERNO !!! The best or the book EASY.
