Review:This is memorable, clever, sad and, at times, humorous, examination of relationships within and surrounding a Mennonite family, especially the relationship between sisters. I will not forget this book! Read more
Review:Gripping! Wonderful factual account of what happened in 1967. Too bad that we don't know what happened many years later, and too bad (spoiler alert!) that they never found all the bodies! What was really wonderful was the commitment everyone had in finding the climbers, and the agreement with everyone that weather on Denali can be a Death wish. Tho sad, and tragic...author did a great job of bringing the reader in. Keeping it real. Great read!~ Read more
Review:I love this book. I frequently "gift" it to people whom I adore...in all ways....
Original? Perhaps. What made a difference in my life was the focus on not letting our pain and defenses of the past cloud our present reality and future life. Staying open is very hard! I'm struggling with it yet again today and why I am again thinking of this book. Our past will shape our future if we can't relearn to live openly.
Oh how great this book is. I need to re-read it periodically to ... Read more
Review:It's hard to establish an exercise routine when you're a college student and work full-time, like me. 20 minutes in the morning and then 20 minutes after work do make a difference!
At first I couldn't do the leg exercises but after one week I could do them with no problem, and the pain I felt on my knees while sitting or walking in completely GONE! I'm really glad I got this! Read more
Review:Many of my writing assignments pertain to accounting and compliance issues. Reading this book about what all went wrong at Enron helps me understand why various compliance acts and various accounting rules changes were enacted since 2001. Read more
Review:Once again Naomi Klein uses her knowledge of shock and awe and the current political situation to educate us and even guide us toward a possible positive outcome in a climate that appears hopelessly far from our care of our common home. Amazingly current, a must read that keeps the reader looking forward to each page Read more
Review:I purchased this in audio form. I've listened to it at least 6 or 7 times, all the way though. I've learned so much, not only about writing, but also how to market yourself and get noticed. Jeff Goins, the author, narrates it as well, and his voice is energetic...like he was doing a public speaking event. Jeff begins the book from long before his full-time writing career began. He talks about how he managed to get his name out there, how he networked, and how he became as popular as he is t... Read more
Review:I first bought the audiobook, and I really like it. So I decided to buy the paperback to have as a guide for the suggestions and exercises authors give to you. I didn't like the last part of the book (it was too harsh), but understandable the way they did that way. I recommend this book. Read more
Review:As a widower for ten years, this book is the best yet on the grief and grieving process. Good practical information. Not an academic type of publication. I have read many such books since my spouse died.
Another excellent book is C.S. Lewis' "A Grief Observed". Read more
Review:Obama's WarsBob Woodward detailed description of Obama's decision process for adding 30,000 American soldiers to our force in Afghanistan can be tedious at times, but shows our military's efforts to widen the scope of the war and the President's efforts to limit our engagement there.
