Emotionally Manipulative Tactics Partners Use to Control Relationshi
Emotionally Manipulative Tactics Partners Use to Control Relationshi

Review:I wish everyone who is in a manipulative relationship could read this book. It contains cold hard facts about abusive relationships and how to recognize abuse and abusers. No one should have to live with abuse whether it is physical or mental. This book also helps families of victims have a greater understanding of how abusers manipulate and can keep loved ones under their control. I was disappointed with the lack of a good editor for this book, so I only gave 4 stars. Worth reading though. Read more

How to Find Your Voice and Reclaim Your Hope - The Emotionally Destructive Marriage
How to Find Your Voice and Reclaim Your Hope - The Emotionally Destructive Marriage

Review:This book is very thorough and must be read through slowly or gone back through, probably more then once to get full benefit from the advise given. It is spot on that both parties must be willing to change their behaviors to be successfully improve their marriage.
It is Biblically based but doesn't give the pat response that a wife must stay in an emotionally abusive relationship if the husband hasn't been physically unfaithful.
Her advise is based on over 30 years as a counselor and it ... Read more

Review:The story was okay, but the errors were crazy. I have read two of her books now and I had the same problem with the 2nd book. Please let me know who is reading these books before they go to print. The errors make the author seem like she can't write. You spend some much time figuring out the errors that you somewhat lose the story. Read more

Sons and the Land in Between - The Return (Pulitzer Prize Winner)
Sons and the Land in Between - The Return (Pulitzer Prize Winner)

Review:Hisham Matar's memoir of his return to Libya after an absence of 30 years in an attempt to determine the fate of his father is a wonderfully written and moving read that's part mystery and part conflicted homage to a country and a man absent from Matar's life for many years. Matar--a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and Man Booker Prize for the equally wonderful (and no doubt inspired by these events) "In the Country of Men"--writes with a the passion and insistent inquiries ... and Murder in Nebraska - The Franklin Cover-up - Child Abuse

Review:A disturbing but incredibly fascinating story, especially how the government was heavily involved in the activities and the subsequent cover-up. DeCamp, a good friend of CIA Chief and whistle-blower William Colby, is a real hero for writing and publishing such a dangerous story! Read more

Johnny Tremain (Exploring Literature Teaching Unit)
Johnny Tremain (Exploring Literature Teaching Unit)

Review:I enjoyed the book once the story got beyond Johnny's immaturity. Historically, it was mostly accurate. I did feel that John Adams wasn't adequately portrayed, but then the book wasn't about him. The relationship between Rab and Johnny was interesting was treated in depth. The girls, Cilla and her little sister lacked an adequate portrayal. It was good as far as it went but I would have liked to see more development of them. The shallowness of the Lyte family was apparent as was Mr. Lyte's greed... Read more

Preparing Adolescents for Responsible Adulthood - Updated and Expanded Edition
Preparing Adolescents for Responsible Adulthood - Updated and Expanded Edition

Review:As they state, this book really would be better if the child(ren) was raised with the Love and Logic principles, but they still have a lot of good advice. Unfortunately even though they say these are actual conversations with real people, I just don't believe it. Maybe the way they think conversations should go, but real people just don't tend to talk that way. I would have liked it if they gave many more examples of situations and explain what to do if the teen absolutely refuses to allow th... Read more
