Review:I just finished the book! As an IBS sufferer for many years, I've tried everything from all the traditional medicine junk to diets galore. The latest diet I tried is Paleo which helped at first but depending on what I ate I still suffer. In my research I came upon this book which I felt I had to have. But it isn't the panecea I was looking for either. However Dr. Robillard seems to really know what he's talking about so I won't give up on him yet because I haven't started the diet. What bot... Review:I am really enjoying cooking with this cookbook. It has really great and tasty recipes and I never feel deprived - quite the opposite. The images are beautiful; the recipes are easy to prepare. I'm loving experimenting with all the cool stuff that's in it. Points are given for each recipe so you know exactly where you stand.I've had friends over and they no idea that their meals are lower in calories at all. The vegetarian lasagna is to die for! The desserts are SO good and you can whip many of ... Read more
Review:Let me start by saying that the information contained in this book is a gold mine for curing pain and self-healing.
I have personally fixed my previously "unfixable" disabling lower back pain, shoulder injuries, and many other injuries, usually sports related.
The book is a good balance of being technically detailed, yet direct to the point. If it was any less detailed than it is, it would not be useful.
I have read some of the other reviews putting this book down, even one ... Read more
Review:The problem with so many health-based books is, regardless of good science, plenty of research and the author’s good intentions, they are boring. Sorry, all my dry little cupcakes, it’s true. Luckily for you and I, with “Sleep Smarter” this not the case. Shawn’s writing style will NOT put you to sleep. This is a bit ironic, true. You can actually understand and absorb all the excellent take-aways to improve your sleep and therefore your life.
I am not going to try to snag anyone with any of t... Read more
Review:Many of the recipes are very good and provide some good cooking solutions that avoid added fat which can be applied to recipes not in the book. That said, some of the recipes are not palatable by non-vegans, which is a problem in a mixed household. Read more
Review:We put off "sleep training" for too long, assuming it would be so much worse than it actually was. My husband and I and our 10 month old finally hit the braking point--we were all continually exhausted from the night time wake-ups and it was impacting each of us in different ways. We followed the plan in this book exactly and in just two nights our daughter was sleeping through the night with no tears. Highly recommend this helpful book. We didn't read it in its entirety, but skipped ahead to th... Read more
Review:After purchasing and reading an embarrasing number of sleep books, I am happy to report I finally found the best of the bunch! Precious Little Sleep offers advice on guiding your baby to sleep without assistance or crutches. The book is written in a way that makes it easily absorbed and understood...even while reading at 3am on your iphone while nursing baby back to sleep! I am happy to say that with the help of the book and Facebook group, my sweet 7mo old baby is now sleeping through the night... Read more
Review:Great book!! No sleep methods works for all babies and I admit I've had to tailor this method a bit to suit our twins, but overall it's wonderful. Lots of really sensible advice. I would recommend to all twin parents! Read more
Review:Very helpful research based information. Well organized and clear answers to lots of questions. I like this perspective and balanced approach. It is not “cry it out in sheeps clothing” as other reviewers have said- trust me, I’m a breastfeeding, baby wearing, co sleeping mom- but some babies/ kids have to fuss a little as they go to sleep to get that frustration out. There’s a difference between a “I’m frustrated” cry and a distressed cry.
That being said, I have chosen not to sleep train my ... Read more
Review:Read this book just before my baby turned four months. Simple read, to the point and actually works. Restored sanity in my home and has saved my marriage too. Before I did not even have time to shower, baby was sleep deprived and fussy, and all evenings I was perched up on the couch nursing and holding her in my arms. Nights involved upto 6 feedings.
Now baby's schedule is predictable, have time to do stuff and she's in bed early to meet her required sleep hours.
Happy household!!!
