Days with Frog and Toad (I Can Read, Level 2)
Days with Frog and Toad (I Can Read, Level 2)

Review:Frog and Toad books are great for early readers. They're written so that a middle of the year first grader should be able to read them easily. The story lines are subtle, so they're great for making inferences, and asking questions to develop higher order thinking skills. Read more

Star Wars: Jedi Academy
Star Wars: Jedi Academy

Review:"Star Wars Jedi Academy" by Jeffrey Brown is a great way to introduce Star Wars to the younger generation. My husband (a HUGE Star Wars fan) and our five year old son LOVE to read this book together. The author writes in a humorous and engaging style - giving older Star Wars fans enough relatable material but also keeping it fresh and fun for young new fans. The book is written with a combination of traditional graphic novel style pages along with personal journal entries from the main character... Read more

The Shadows (The Books of Elsewhere, Vol. 1)
The Shadows (The Books of Elsewhere, Vol. 1)

Review:My daughter and I read this together. She loved the talking cats and exploring other worlds through the paintings. However about half way through the book the reader is told that the cats are witch's familiars, then they're referenced as demon cats on the following page, and headstones are discovered in the basement. I wish I had known this before starting this book. This isn't the kind of thing I want my child reading about. We stopped the book at that point. Read more

Kitten's First Full Moon Board Book

Review:This book is so sweet, and the predicaments that Kitten gets into are silly indeed. This book is a great gift for a toddler, especially when paired with a small stuffed kitten to cuddle while reading at bedtime. Read more

Joshua's Island (James Madison Series Book 1)
Joshua's Island (James Madison Series Book 1)

Review:Joshua's Island was a truly heartwarming story about the harsh realities of bullying and the young love that triumphed over it. The author does an incredible job of bringing the characters to life and you immediately sympathize with poor scrawny Joshua who has been tormented for years in middle school by the villainous bullies and the Dragon Queen. Thank goodness for the appearance of Eve into his life which little by little brings him out of his shell and back to the once happy kid he used to b... Read more

Flunked (Fairy Tale Reform School)

Review:**Thank you to Sourcebooks Jabberwocky for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review!**

I've always been a huge fan of fairy tales and the idea of a happily ever after, so when I heard about this book, I just knew that I had to read it!

Flunked is about a 12-year-older named Gilly who steals from the rich to help her family in a sort of Robin Hood-esque sort of way, since her family is poor. She figures that the rich folk won't really miss their items if they're tak... Read more
