Lacey Walker, Nonstop Talker (Little Boost)
Lacey Walker, Nonstop Talker (Little Boost)

Review:What a great book for teaching school skills. Lacy Walker, Nonstop Talker (the title rocks) is going to be one of my new heavy hitters for teaching listening skills to our K-3 grades. We have some major nonstop talkers (can't wait to introduce those two words!) in some of our classrooms. I know you understand exactly what I am talking about. The kids who just won't stop the chatter. They talk so much they end up on missing out on directions and all kinds of important things like LEARNING.

You Get What You Get (Little Boost)
You Get What You Get (Little Boost)

Review:"Melvin did not deal well with disappointment." This is the beginning of Julie Gassman's newest book, You Get What You Get. It tackles the problem of handling disappointment in a clever and straightforward way. Melvin throws a fit whenever he doesn't get what he wants. Apparently this is tolerated at home and he always gets his way, but at school the rule is "You get what you get if you don't throw a fit." Melvin learns to control his behavior at school pretty quickly and when he spills th... Read more

Empowering Kids to Stand Up for Others - The Juice Box Bully

Review:This book was used during a lesson on bullying for my 5th grade class. It was a great story that generated lots of conversation.
Many students had experienced incidents similar to those in the story. Read more

Review:My daughter (age 7) struggles with anxiety so I bought her this book to try and help her talk about the way she feels. She really identified with Wilma Jean and she requests this book almost every night at bed time. Cute story. Read more

Do Unto Otters: A Book About Manners
Do Unto Otters: A Book About Manners

Review:As "A book About Manners," I was referred to this book to teach my children to follow the "Golden Rule." This was a humorous story, but it was a little too long for my 3 and 4 year old. They lost interest in it quickly. I would recommend it more for the 6-8 year old age group. Read more

Junie B. Jones's Third Boxed Set Ever! (Books 9-12)

Review:I purchased this for the value, even though the description was very vague.
So much to my disappointment 2 of the 4 books I had previously purchased.
Now I have a gift that is half good !
they should give the title of each book included in the set, not the book # ! Read more

My Weird School #1: Miss Daisy Is Crazy!
My Weird School #1: Miss Daisy Is Crazy!

Review:May be great for older kids but definitely not something you'd want to get for independent early readers. I got these for my 5 year old to read but then realized he's picking up words like "stupid", "dumb", "I hate school". I had to take the whole set of books away from him (I bought a set from scholastic reading club). Maybe I'll give them back to him when he's a little older for some fun reading, understanding you can't just throw those "bad" words out at friends and teachers in school. Read more

The Best Seat in Second Grade (I Can Read Level 2)

Review:Purchased for a 2nd grader, and it was the perfect reading level for him. Being all boy, he wasn't much into reading but really enjoyed reading a chapter to me each night. He liked the story and I plan on using similar books to get him to read more. Read more

David Gets In Trouble
David Gets In Trouble

Review:I bought David Gets in Trouble because my granddaughters LOVED No, David. I was dismayed, disheartened and disgusted when I read David Gets in Trouble because with the exception of a couple of pages it is the exact same book as No, David. I really feel cheated by David Shannon. The hard back books are not inexpensive and I expected a book with a completely new story NOT a story that was the same as No, David. Shame on you David Shannon. Read more
