Review:As a member of the target audience for this book (midway through my teenage years), I really disliked this book. I picked the book out for myself to help me improve my life/mindset, and I was very disappointed.
The Good: The book starts off okay, and Shipp's voice is likable and mildly funny. He's not too pretentious or boring. Also, some of his advice is pretty sound and it gave me a relatively new perspective on how to identify sources of problems in my life.
The Bad: Then the bo... Read more
Review:Fantasy of Fire – DO NOT Interrupt Me I’m Reading
St Clare tells a fantastical tale, “Against All Odds” the battle of good against evil…if it doesn’t break you, it will make you stronger. I was shown two+ worlds and the struggle for control, combined with this, the characters and the conflicts they faced made for emotional, interesting and exciting reading. I actually LOL on occasion. This book has it all sci-fi, fantasy, romance, mystery, drama, humour and action.
I thoroughly enjoyed ... Read more
Review:This is not only a book that shows the phenomenal upbringing of Dr. Carson and opens his life to view, it is encouraging to all ages, kids, preteens, teens and adults male and female. I saw many things in this book that paralell my own mothering of my children, and see that it is also a beacon and an example to all mothers.
Well I just mailed this book to my 27 year old son, plus also A More Perfect Union. I sent him a cell phone picture of the books. He asked to read them. (that alway... Read more
Review:I modified some of the activities for an Internal Family Systems group I hold at an alternative high school. The purpose of the exercises is to help the group participants understand where their exiles (or triggers) come from. The activites were very effective and the teenaged participants opened up about family and social influences that have manifest themselves into adverse protectors. I recommend this book to anyone who is serious about personality development and developing a healthy sens... Read more
Review:I received this story, this is my voluntary review.
Swords & Stilettos is a fast-paced and well-written read. It is action-packed with vivid imagery. It also offers drama, humor, intrigue, and romance that grabbed and held my attention throughout. I appreciated the twists and turns of the story that kept me entertained. I enjoyed the friendship between Zoe and Kieran, as well as between Zoe and Sidelle. I also adored the connection between Zoe and Shay; their banter kept a smile ... Read more
Review:Introducing teens to a dystopian, futuristic New York City ( Manhattan City) and the surrounding "cities" (ex. Bronx City) is quickly accomplished with this well imagined novel. The main character is a determined young woman whose fate was cast by the prenatal "adjustments " chosen [or forced upon?] by her mother. Readers will identify with the unfairness, the frustrations, and the all too real life-situations. Choices abound and not all of them are good. The powerful have too much of everythin... Read more
Desde Guatemala Read more
Review:Oh wow, I half expected this book to be something on the lines of sleeping beauty but I was wrong. I love the concept on the story line as it is something I haven't read before. This is the first book I have read by this author although I do have some of their other books on my wish list. I can't wait to read more of their books and look forward to the next in this series. Review:I despise reading, but this book has made reading fun to me! I really enjoyed this book from the beginning. Unlike many books that are slow and have a lot of talking in the beginning I was glued to this book by the first page. Read more
Review:Very disappointed. I thought this would be a kid friendly version of the original and it's not. It's incredibly boring and full of useless info. If you want a book to help motivate your teen to be a successful adult, I recommend skipping this and going directly to 7 Habits of Highly Effective Pople. Read more
