Review:Catherine Steadman's debut psychological stunner is sure to be one of the most read novels of the Summer of 2018. A couple finds themselves in a deadly predicament off the island of Bora Bora. Erin, a Film Documentarian, and her husband Mark, an investment banker, are enjoying their honeymoon on Bora Bora. During a scuba-diving excursion, they turn up something in the water that could change their lives. When the two decide to keep it a secret rather than turning it over they start a deadly ch... Review:The essayist Joseph Epstein in his very negative review of this book pointed out that sentences are not ordinarily written as things in themselves but as parts of paragraphs, and whole compositions. Analyzing sentences in and by themselves may be alright for 'aphorisms' but does not make sense for most prose.
Another major error of this work is its contention that 'content' does not matter. Content shapes and content helps define the character and quality of a sentence.

Review:I have been an admirer of Mr. Maugham since my high school years. He influenced in me at that early age to better understand humanity. His easy prose made more enjoyable its reading discovering for me other parts of the world with its mysteries and crude realities. Read more
Review:I read this book twice...once in my late teens & again more recently. The plot has been described far more eloquently than I can by other reviewers so I will concentrate instead on the meaning I derived from the book. Cronshaw is a poor poet .who Philip takes in while Cronshaw is dying & gives him a piece of Persian carpeting. He tells Philip when he can decipher what the pattern means, then Philip will know what the meaning of life is. But Philip must come to that solution by himself or... Read more

Review:This book was very good. It was an intense love story that sucked me in and held on to me until the very end. All the characters were interesting and some quirky. However, Reece and Sarah from beginning to end I was rooting for them to find their way back to each other. The question was never did they belong together it was always can they find a way to live with a love so intense that it can only exist with the other. Can they find forgiveness in a situation that has both of them scared.
Review:Carter’s Story is here. After reading about him and seeing glimpses of who he was and is from Daniel’s story I couldn’t wait to read more about him. And Willow Winters did not disappoint. Carter is a man who gets want he wants and he wants Aria. Their unconventional beginnings lead to an emotionally gripping tale of love, and hurt and pain. This story will make you go through all the emotions up and down and back around for both Carter and Aria. And we are left with a shocking ending before we k... Read more
Review:This is heralded as one of Steinbeck's best. I'm disappointed. It's just personal taste. The voice goes from 1st to 3rd person which doesn't flow smoothly in my humble opinion. But, why take my opinion? I'm at odds with literary history. I suggest that no one base a decision on one person's view of a literary w y. Give it a try. At least you can say you've read a class Steinbeck novel! Read more
