My Book About Me
My Book About Me

Review:The cover of the book is printed out backwards so that when you open the book you are at the end and the text is upside down. Since this is a Dr. Seuss book I read it to make sure that it wasn't supposed to be this way (it's not). Anyway, the book looks fun but the printing is flawed. Read more

Short Stories for All the Letters - Once Upon an Alphabet
Short Stories for All the Letters - Once Upon an Alphabet

Review:I heard about this book on NPR and it caught my attention, so I ordered it as soon as I got home to surprise my two boys (4 and 6). We have really enjoyed this collection of stories! The stories are funny, well-written, and kept everyone's attention all the way though. It a good type of different and I think that's why it works so well. Read more

Review:I READ "THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS" AND THOUGHT: "WHO IS THIS AUTHOR"? I REALLY ENJOYED THAT BOOK. WELL, IF ONE LOOKS HIM UP ON THE INTERNET HE MYSTERIOUSLY KEEPS HIS IDENTITY AS THE AUTHOR OF THE FELIX CASTOR NOVELS A SECRET. NO CROSS CREDITS BETWEEN HIS M.R. CAREY WEBSITE AND HIS MIKE CAREY WEBSITE. PERHAPS IT IS BECAUSE OF HIS FAME AS AN AUTHOR OF COMIC BOOKS (EXCUSE ME, GRAPHIC NOVELS) AND HIS RELUCTANCE TO BUILD ON THAT FAME. WHATEVER IS THE CASE HIS WRITING IS GOOD. HOWEVER, AS FOR ... Read more

The Boy on the Bridge
The Boy on the Bridge

Review:The Boy on the Bridge is M.R. Carey's long-awaited sequel to The Girl With All the Gifts. As in the first book a plague has swept through the world making humans that contract the fungus "hungries"--essentially zombies whose only purpose is to devour the flesh of living creatures. Rosie, a heavily fortified vehicle, filled with soldiers and scientists sets out from Beacon (the last fortified encampment in the UK) to find a cure.

A third type of intelligent life, "the children", discovers ... Read more

The Bonfire of the Vanities
The Bonfire of the Vanities

Review:I remember all of the people and flights well from my youth. The insights the author provides are eye opening, but make sense in retrospect. I'm just not a fan of his writing style. I get the sense that he, as the story teller, considers himself a part of the story. He is not. Sorry Tom, not a fan. Read more

The Daily Book of Positive Quotations
The Daily Book of Positive Quotations

Review:I thought all it was, was a book of quotes by famous authors and celebrities. It's not it has little short stories and whatnot. There's only one quote a day and it goes along with the theme to the story. Alright, but not what I expected. Read more

A Book of Quotations (Dover Thrift Editions) - The Wit and Wisdom of Mark Twain
A Book of Quotations (Dover Thrift Editions) - The Wit and Wisdom of Mark Twain

Review:I guess I've aged since I first read Mark Twain. I found I didn't agree with some of his ideas.
However, it will do very well on the book shelf at my holiday unit which other family members
use. I think it's handy to have reading matter that can be looked at for short periods of time. Read more

Whales and Dolphins! (Wild Kratts) (Step into Reading)
Whales and Dolphins! (Wild Kratts) (Step into Reading)

Review:This book is great for Wild Kratt fans, but I am disappointed that the sharks are portrayed as aggressive and angry. As someone who works in marine biology, sharks are greatly misunderstood and these illustrations do not help the stigma the animal has. My daughter kept asking what the sharks were so mad about. Into the Fire (The Bridge Series)
Into the Fire (The Bridge Series)

Review:Meredith Wild has done it again in a big way. I was given an advanced readers copy of this book for a fair and honest review. But even with that being said I would gladly and will be reading everything and anything that Meredith can write for me. Darren is someone who has his dream job that can be risky at times but he loves that adrenal rush. He also is a ladies man. Then he just happens to run into someone who is pulling at him to get to know. Vanessa wants no part of his player ways. She is i... Read more
